I’ve been coming to Taboun regularly for over 7 years and I can say with confidence that this one is the best Mediterranean places in SF at the price point. Upon entry you are greeting by the kind hard working ladies who have worked tirelessly to make this restaurant exceptional. It’s always spotless, the inside has a beautiful interior, and everything is made fresh. The best thing I can say is that this restaurant is always consistent. Not once has the meat been dry, overly salty, undercooked, etc. I’ve honestly never had a bad meal here, the kabobs are cooked fresh to order. This remains the best kofte I’ve ever had. I always get the dinner combo comes with your choice of 2 meats, 2 sides, and is severed with rice and pita for a very fair $20. This was one of the first middle eastern places I went to in SF, and over the years after trying many other ones, it still has kept its place near the top. When you walk in you feel a sense of comfort and that you are welcomed into their homes. The food is made with love, and it’s simply spectacular. If you’re near UCSF or cole valley, this should easily be your top pick.
Everything about this place is top notch. Service - family owned restaurant, and they care very much about you having a good experience. They went above and beyond to welcome us to the neighborhood. They were fast, friendly, and attentive to requests. Food - some of the best falafels, hummus, and babaganoush ive had. I ordered the vegetarian combo and it was huge portions and everything was so tasty, full of flavor... I had 2 meals in one! Ambiance - cute little restaurant, welcoming and warm décore, with enough space for groups of 2 to 6. I came with my family, and we all enjoyed the entire experience. This will be a staple restaurant for us. Will go back often!
Taboun was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. I had the falafel bowl for lunch and it was excellent. Freshly made and super tasty. Family owned and run with super friendly service. I hope to be back next time I'm in San Francisco.
Delicious food. Excellent service and nice atmosphere. You can taste the love! 💕 I asked for the lamb kebabs to not be too well-done. It was juicy and flavorful! Sides shown are hummus and tabouli.
come visit taboun. it’s worth it. the best falafel i’ve ever had
Excellent quality-price! Plates are huge and very tasty. I will highly recommend the vegetarian combo to try it all!
The food was very tasty. The shwarma meat could have been softer.
Great flavor, incredible dolmas, decent amount of food for the price (by SF standards), quick service

Best shawarma place in San Francisco!! And the best customer service!!
Flavorful food and such incredibly warm and kind staff! It was a really welcoming atmosphere and I can’t wait to visit again soon. They also gave us extra foil so we could rewrap our chicken shawarma wraps before taking them home. It’s the little things that make the biggest impression. They did not disappoint!
Quaint cafe with big flavors in the food. All the standards like hummus, falafel and tabouleh are best un class. Meats, lavash wraps, and salads are generous portions for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
Just stopped in for lunch today for the first time and they were able to accommodate our group of nine people with ease - the food was delicious and the service was great. I appreciate how helpful the Taboun team was with navigating dietary restrictions and providing such a warm atmosphere on a rainy day! Beef kabab, tabouleh, falafel were all great!
We had the Chicken shawarma wrap, the Lamb-beef shawarma, Tabouleh salad and Falafel side. They were all tasty and freshly made. Prices are reasonable and service was excellent.
The restaurant is a fantastic spot for authentic and flavorful food. The staff takes great care with all of the preparation and everything is fresh. Great spot for casual dining. Great food served in generous portions.
My favorite falafel and shwarma spot in SF. Great flavors and sauces. Food is ready fast! Inside has a some tables for a quick lunch, a few tables outside too. Super convenient for UCSF medical center visitors and employees/students. They've been here a long time and for good reason!

They make delicious food and the service is outstanding. They are super friendly and highly responsive to customer needs. We have been getting food there several times a month for years. It is super tasty and fresh. The pita bread is the best I've ever had and I'm not even a fan of pita bread. The babaganoush is always in our orders, as it is perfectly roasted and flavorful. Highly recommend Taboun and will continue to go back regularly!
This is a solid choice -- you get a fair amount of food for the price. With a dinner plate ($18), you'll be able to feed 1.5 to 2 people. The service is incredibly good, and the food itself is above standard. I'd definitely come here again if I'm in the neighborhood!

Do yourself a favor, especially if you're up the hill at the hospital instead of getting a doordash. Just take a little 3 minute down the hill and get the food here, fresh ingredients excellently prepared by a caring, warm staff. You can't go wrong, ask any of the doctors or nurses at UCSF. Insider tip, You're welcome!.....

I walked into this quiet spot for lunch after a long morning at the hospital. I was happy to see they had Chicken Shawarma on the menu. The restaurant was quiet around 2 PM, and I could see the meat cooking behind the counter. I was excited to taste it! I ordered the Shawarma with a fizzy mineral water. The chicken wasn't as tasty as I hoped, though. It needed more seasoning, and didn't have the strong flavors I expected from Shawarma. On the bright side, it wasn't tough, and there were lots of fresh veggies in the wrap like cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. There were also some pickles which added a nice tang. But for $14, I was expecting a lot more flavor. It's a bit too much money for a meal that didn't wow me. I don't think I'd go back for the Chicken Shawarma. The place was nice, and the service was fast, but the food just didn't match up to the price.

Inflation is real. For the size smaller than regular burrito, the dolma wrap I got has more bread wrap than filing. Also, the cashier made me uncomfortable when it comes to signing my payment (debit card) by pointing out that I have to select tips first before I can sign. I order the food to go and yet I’m obligated to leave tips to the already expensive price tag. I work mostly from home and today, I’m working onsite and I decided to get lunch from Taboun. I would be happy to give gold tips for when I’m actually sitting and dining in. But to ho? Definitely wouldn’t come here again. I can buy the bread wrap from the market for cheap if I want to just eat flat bread. They also charged a fee for paying with debit card.$15.21 is way overpriced. Definitely regretted coming here. There’s Carmelina right across from the hospital and the food and prices are far more decent.

Really wanted to try out and support this restaurant, but the food was flavorless and unsatisfying. I ordered the chicken shish wrap. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
