Great place. We went and had breakfast there, the staff was very nice and seated us quickly. I got the grilled cheese sandwich and my brother got the chicken and waffles, both were very good. The hot chocolate has also very good. The place was a bit crowded and we were seated a bit close, but we didn't mind too much.
Decided to check this place due to it being close to our air Bnb and we are glad we did! My wife and I ordered the 2 eggs any style and a cappuccino. Everything came out great and tasted delicious! We will definitely be back!
Good food, simple options for various dietary needs, and servings were the right size (I was filled, not full).
My spouse and i love it here! We order through doordash and sit in person. Obviously in person is best, but the delivered food is always good. My favorite is the hash brown mountain with bacon added.
Great local breakfast/lunch spot. Toast omelette or scrambled is my go-to. Hash browns that are actually CRISPY on the outside y'all! Good coffee too, a rarity in a lot of breakfast places, and they can do lattes, cappuccinos, etc. Very friendly, fast service. You won't leave hungry .
The did was excellent and the staff were wonderful as always.
Very classy, Employees make sure you have everything you need for the best experience! The food is delightful and tasty! Definitely one of my new favorite places for having breakfast 🍳💖
My dad and I Came here on a Wednesday morning - not crowded at all. I had the combo and the coffee was strong and delicious, hash browns were perfect along with eggs, bacon and waffle. Service was also very attentive
I had the BEST latte here! Staff was super nice and food was great. Definitely coming back again.
This restaurant is always delicious; great French toast and chilaquiles!!!
Stopped in to have a late breakfast. It’s a small bustling place but adequate enough to have breakfast with a small group of friends or significant other on a Sunday, which is when we stopped in. West Portal scrambler was good and so was the chili!
Fantastic Bloody Mary! Avacado Toast was great! My mom had the waffle and it was huge! Dog friendly! Outdoor seating! Would recommend!
Ok so I was at a local watering hole and was peckish, so I looked on Google maps to see what was near by and a few things popped up like Squat n Gobble and Toast, so I asked the bartender and he said without a dout Toast was the place to checkout. Turns out he was spot on, Toast had plenty of Segway/bicycle parking and even a security guard to watch them and us. Sat down was immediately met with a waitress and water. They have drink's!! So we ordered a mimosa and a bloody Mary, you have to keep a steady buzz going when out n about on ur day off right? Turns out the food was good, we had a lil custom order help from our waitress who really helped us figure out how to get everything we wanted without having to order full orders of items and helped figure out how to get those items that didnt come alacart. It's was our waitress that made our visit complete and perfect. If you find yourself in the area, you cannot go wrong with this place it's totally worth the drive/walk up from Stonestown mall n your hungry. I will be back, that corned beef hash is truely awesome yummy!
I love this place. The food was great and the staff was very nice. Come early because I could see it getting crowded later on.

This restaurant is wonderful and delightful. I’ve been coming here for years, but recently started coming back more often, not only because the food is great and the menu has many interesting and delicious dishes, but also because the staff are kind, friendly and professional. Areej, Irene, and Jose are all excellent servers, and I have regularly noticed them go above and beyond for the guests. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

This was a good basic breakfast. I'm vegan so got scrambled tofu (had minimal veggies in it, tasted good once I added hot sauce) instead of eggs which was a great option, with hash browns and toast. The flavors weren't anything amazing but it was all good and filling. The coffee wasn't anything especial either. Only a short wait for 2 Saturday morning.
The first Toast I went to! It’s indoor setting is super charming and diner-y. I’m a total sucker for their hash brown hill — with bacon and avocado! Their coffee is pretty standard, but it’s fitting for the environment. I’ve always been impressed with the friendly, accommodating staff. It’s a popular place, so sometimes there a wait, but the street is pleasant for a stroll! I would DEFINITELY recommend!
A very happening place in West Portal. The atmosphere is lively. I just strolled in an got a table by the window. I ordered the egg toast which comes with avocado. I should have asked for Sourdough bread. It came on a multi grain bread. It was a very healthy choice. There is lots of seating, but it fills up fast!
Delicious breakfast and options for gluten free folks. Kid friendly but a little loud. I ordered the hashbrowns with egg and cheese. Everyone loved their meals. Will come back again for a hearty breakfast in the future.
My irish breakfast didn't come with what it was written on the menu.. Food was nice and quick tho! It is a busy and cute place.
I've had one issue there. Their grilled chicken breast on their salad was partially fake, but this is a supplier issue. I informed the waiter who let upper management know. Other than that I've been there 5 times and their breakfast is great 👍🏾
Toast Eatery is the most popular brunch spot on West Portal Ave. On the weekends, their little sidewalk parklet is packed. Today I had the Irish Breakfast $18.50, baked beans, black pudding, eggs, Irish bacon, sausage and tomato. Wait a minute, where's the traditional Irish soda bread and the mushrooms or potatoes? This dish is missing some key pieces making a incomplete Irish Breakfast. There weren't HP sauce either. Anyways, I left a bit hungry still. There weren't a lot of food in this dish. Service was fine.

This review is for delivered food only (via DoorDash): Satisfying breakfast overall. Missed some key details in my opinion and some items felt overpriced. Oatmeal with fruit - a bit bland for my taste. No cinnamon, milk, brown sugar, syrup or other spices offered. Good portion with generous fruit amount, though! French toast - excellent taste and they accommodated my request for both berries and bananas instead of having to choose one. Perfectly cooked, 6 pieces of baguette and arrived with 3 butter rectangles (butter was not listed in Door Dash). Overpriced for size ($17.95). Not served with syrup so that was annoying - they should list that syrup is not included with the order. Side of syrup - I was surprised at how little was included. For $2 it was a single small salad dressing cup. If I was at the restaurant I definitely would have had more but as it was I rationed it. Probably would have ordered more if they were clear about how little syrup it would be. Side of Bacon - asked for “extra, extra, extra crispy (burned, hard and dry is ideal)” and it was barely crispy. Good flavor. Only 3 pieces for $6.95. Side of 2 Scrambled eggs - good, perfectly cooked. Side of hash browns - listed on Door Dash as “topped with melted cheddar, sour cream, avocado and green onion.” Came as a barely cooked (but generously portioned) pile of hash browns only. Served with a small salad dressing cup of ketchup so that was a nice surprise. Ketchup should be listed in Door Dash listing. Fyi, all sides arrived in the same box which was fine for me but might have been a problem for some vegans or vegetarians. Ordered on moving day so I toggled the “receive cutlery and napkins” button and received neither. Had to eat with my hands.
The service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, skillful, and fast. Our food arrived quickly and was hot. The coffee was strong, and the OJ was fresh. However, my blueberry pancakes were a disappointment. The pancakes were dry and tasteless. They clearly came from the box mix. I hope The Toast considers something like Bette's Diner Buttermilk pancakes. (Is the recipe online?
Since there's no way of giving feedback through an email to the owner, I suppose I have to do this publicly. I had chicken and waffles this morning with hash browns. Everything was fine except for the chicken. It was flavorless. It looked good. Had absolutely no flavor. Fix the flavor, and this will be a fine dish. I was told the kitchen was off today. The service and the rest of the food, 4 out of 5 stars.
This is an average diner with not so great service. We will return and give them another try, but we weren't very impressed this time around. The eggs were cold, the waiter got three separate things wrong with our order and the food was just okay. It also took inordinately long for them to bring us our check. The highlight was the fresh squeezed apple juice from the juicery next door. Maybe next time......
Met up with some friends for coffee. Service was okay. We had to look for another waiter to refill our coffee, since our waitress was too busy for us. UPDATE: Came here with my family this time. Table wasn't clean very well and the reusable paper menus were dirty with grease/oil stains. Food was decent. Service was okay.
Pretty standard avocado toast but nice to have something vegan friendly on the menu; portions were a bit small as you can see
Don’t order takeout. Lack of effort for price point. We got a $20 pastrami sandwich which turned out to be a flat sandwich with only cheese and pastrami on a small piece of sliced bread. For a $10 avocado bagel the stale bagel itself should have at least been toasted, with no seasoning. We are very disappointed and won’t be ordering from here again.
This was my first time at Toast Eatery and it was alright. Service was quick and our order was taken quickly. I ordered the corn beef and hash and I did not like it. It had some good flavor but all of that is negated by how oily it was. I took one bite and my mouth felt extremely greasey. I asked the person I was with and they agreed. It could have just been me and I'm not used to how "real" corn beef is made, but this was a turn off. I could not finish the entire thing and I always put in the effort to do so. I am willing to give this place another try, just not this corn beef.
A quaint neighborhood spot. Unfortunately, my burger patty was so dry, despite being it cooked medium! $11 for a half stack of pancakes (two…) seems like there isn’t much value for money.

Service was amazing and the satff was friendly , the time we went they had leaking issues in the bathroom. Food wise, we ordered the Toast Combo and Godfather omelette, both came with no salt or pepper or flavor. Granted we went towards the closing hour but the food was ok at best. Hope they learn from other places and set up their food quality. I also ordered Bloody Mary which came in with Soju, something they don't announce in their menu so that was a weird one.
The service and vibe are both nice for a lazy Saturday morning, but the food is not. Maybe some of the more elaborate options are better, but the basics were pretty bad. The scrambled eggs were dry and overdone, the hash browns were super oily outside but mushy on the inside, the sourdough was okay, but the butter cold. Overall it felt like they didn't put any effort into the food, although the servers were friendly and quick.
Haven’t been here in a while, but incredibly disappointed. The food was tasteless. Holland aide was a strange yellow & looked more like a paste than a sauce. These days breakfast for 2 easily costs $50 (today $51+). Don’t see myself coming back.
I ordered chicken and waffle. Chicken was dry and over cooked. Waffle was also not good. Took some effort to cut thenwaffle. Maybe they precooked the waffle earlier in the morning and covered it. The moisture messed it up. Giving it a 2 star because the waitress is friendly.
This was a perfect example of a gentrified restaurant. Overpriced basic diner food that lacked flavor or any quality. We each got dishes that are typically very filling and flavor packed, but after spending $70 we are still left feeling hungry. Portion sizes only seem fine based off the size of the plates, but it is an illusion based off how much they spread everything out. Even the most basic dish, the pancakes, was bland and rubbery. I would not recommend this place to anyone, unless you need something especially bland for your medical based diet.
This was astoundingly bad. These are by far, by such an astronomical margin, the worst chilaquiles I have ever had in my entire life. To elaborate, let’s start with a definition of what chilaquiles actually are: quartered, fried tortilla slices slathered in salsa, queso fresco, crema, and often times beans, fried onions, eggs, and avocado or guacamole. They are not a pathetic amalgamation of plain tortilla chips drowned in store bought salsa verde with a poorly cooked, greasy, unseasoned egg thrown on top. This was embarrassing for everyone involved. I’m not the type to ask for a refund, but I think I should have here. Instead, I’ll just make sure to never come back and suggest that you do the same.
went with my family on 4th of July, male waiter with tattoos and a blonde woman served us. The man spilt orange juice on me and my brother and expected us to clean it and made US get napkins to clean it up and never apologized, then the woman took our order and I (Muslim) lied about being allergic to pork so they wouldn’t put bacon in my meal (some restaurants will discriminate when I tell them I’m Muslim or won’t care, but take allergies more seriously) and she said the cooks are used to making it with bacon and told me to order something else. The service was actually horrible, slow, everyone was rude. I didn’t tip, but the woman used my card and gave herself a 10 dollar tip, and after calling my bank and confronting them, they refused to send my bank a copy of the receipt and made their coworker (who looked like she was 13-14) go to the bank near the restaurant and take out 10 dollars from her personal account to pay me back. Do not go here unless you want to feel rich buying overpriced food, or want money stolen from your account. If you plan on coming here pay with cash.
A totally disappointing experience. Very slow service to start. 1 of 2 coffees prepared incorrectly. My wife's breakfast Sat on the counter while the cooks took turns trying to get a waffle to come out of the cooker 4 times. I finally killed that order and ordered eggs and hash browns. That came with runny wires and overly crisp, near burned hash browns. They comped us our coffees, but should have comped the whole meal.
Terrible service. Our coffee and tea didn’t arrive until well the meal for my two companions were served their meals. My meal didn’t come at all until we got up from the table and flagged down a server. They apparently forgot to make it in the kitchen. Since our server never visited the table after taking the order, she wouldn’t have known. My meal finally arrived 20 minutes later, after my companions had already finished eating. Have been here a number of times. The service is always spotty, but this was the worst. Felt very angry paying $60 for a meal when treated that badly. Won’t ever go back.
Imagine a free continental Tex-Mex breakfast wet and from a can.
We’ve been wanting to like this place and have given it several chances but unfortunately disappointed. The quality of food does not match its pricey eggs breakfast menus. Our breakfast has always been cold when it gets to the table and nothing really stands out. It’s a shame, this would have been a nice place in the neighborhood for us to frequent.
I ordered a burger and fries online at 10:10am with an ETA of 10:45am. When I got there, however, I was told my food was not ready. The lady behind the counter was incredibly rude and refused to give me change for a $20 so I could put more money in the meter. At this point I had waited 10 minutes with no sign that my food was being prepared. I asked for a refund and was told to contact GrubHub and shooed out of the restaurant. I do not recommend ordering here unless you want to pay for the overpriced food and deal with the terrible service.
Terrible experience. The server was unbelievably rude, disrespectful, and clearly showed racist behavior. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant before. No one should be treated this way. Management clearly doesn’t care about professionalism or basic human decency. I will never come back, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place.
