Only in SF will I pay $25 for tacos and not get mad about it. The various meats were delicious, the tortillas fresh, and I’ve never had such flavorful black beans, like really good beans. The restaurant has great vibes and pleasant staff.
This place is a treasure in the heart of the city right next to Moscone Center. Despite its upscale location, the prices are surprisingly low. The outdoor section has a beautiful garden setting. And the food is delicious and fresh. Made from scratch salsas and generous serving sizes. One of my new favorites in the city for a modest but satisfying brunch or lunch. Highly recommend!
Visited on Thursday evening after work. The place was already busy. We had reservations so we were seated right away. Since it was still happy hour we took advantage and ordered drinks right away. I had the white sangria. It was mild and smooth, good, but not great. For dinner, I also ordered from the happy hour menu. The Subletes Pollo and Flautas. The Subletes are tostadas. They were excellent. The chicken tinga is very tasty and made the dish. The flautas were good. There was more than I could eat alone. Everyone with me enjoyed their meals. Service was excellent. I hope to return on my next visit to the city.
During lunch, it’s a self seating place where you order at the counter and then sit anywhere you like. The servers would bring the food to your table. I got the Chicken Enchiladas with a Coke. The food tasted great and the service was quick. The food was basically out as I seated on my table.

We had an early dinner on Saturday here. They sat us promptly, and our waiter was cordial. He helped me to customize one of the appetizers dishes into an entree because of my dietary restrictions. We also ordered multiple items from their happy hour items. Everything was delicious. Ceviche was absolutely amazing. Churros were really great too
Food was yummy. The ceviche was tangy and good. The only thing is that the staff were rude and impatient which ruined the atmosphere. Not only were they annoyed as we took some time to decide what we wanted (wasn’t standing at the queue for this but they gave us judgmental looks). Also, asked for sharing plates and was greeted by a disgruntled staff who not only gave us 1 less than the quantity that we asked for, but also only gave us 1 less set of cutlery.
My husband and I came for lunch. During this time there is no table service so you order at the counter. The food was good but too spicy for me. If you like spicy food then this is great for you. I don't like spicy food and everything was spicy except for the chips and my margarita. It's a great spot if you're in the mood for Mexican food. We ordered chips, two combination plates, and two strawberry margaritas.
Nice Mexican restaurant. Staff were very friendly Food was good. I had the Chicken Enchiladas. Portions are a decent size Cocktails good. Strong mind you.

I wanted to love this place because of the location, price, and existing reviews. But I must say the shoddy service outweighed the food. Upon entering someone immediately asked if I wanted a table for one. Yes please! They were gone for a minute before a man with dark curly hair pulled back in a ponytail and thick dark glasses asked me what I was waiting on. Excuse me? “What are you waiting on?” I told him someone was looking for a table for me. He said he didn’t know what I was told, but all he had was a table and a seat at the bar. Mind you the seat at the bar was right next to the trash. I said that a table was fine because that’s what the fella said earlier, and I was just waiting on him. He raised is voice. I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU SPOKE WITH. ALL I HAVE IS A TABLE AND SEAT AY THE BAR. Holy crap. I almost turned and walked out. I fearfully walked to my assigned table. The server was polite at first, but ultimately he seemed concerned with getting his tables wrapped up and collecting his tips I will say the food was PHENOMENAL! I got the tampiqueño and empanadas. Everything was so flavorful, colorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a cacophony of flavors and kaleidoscope of plating. You can even get pinto or black beans if you are not a fan of refried beans (which I am not). I usually don’t eat beans and rice at Mexican restaurants for that fact, but these pinto beans and rice were fantastic. I was part of the clean plate club! I cannot recommend this place in full because of the lackluster service, but the food was absolutely top notch.
While the restaurant is conveniently located near Yerba Buena Gardens and had nice patio area, I found that everything else was average, at best. First off, I would say it is overpriced, and while it is a Mexican restaurant, I doubt many Mexicans would eat there. The food is fairly bland, with little or no heat. I ordered the Chile Rellano, and it had zero cheese, and zero spiciness.$16 for a Margherita. Mid $20's for bland food. Did not even bring chips and salsa to our table. What's up with that. Staff not very engaging in their service, just bare minimum. I gave overal 3 stars, but really, look elsewhere for good Mexican food and vibe
It's fine. It's like a nice version of any Mexican restaurant that you'd find in a nicer strip mall west of South Dakota. Food is decent, but nothing ground breaking. Want some chips? You are going to pay for them! This is where you go for a business lunch if you are entry level bank management and somebody says they want Mexican for lunch and you're trapped downtown but you are going to honor that request.
I was really looking forward to the place and lowkey disappointed! The drinks were amazing (11/10 recommend the Duende). I got the enchiladas (made vegan by using potatos and tofu). The flavors were too salty and needed more creamy/something. Vegan cheese or even avocado or guac would help! Not sure if I would go again. Service was good and our waiter made sure we were hydrated lol (ice water would’ve been nice too lol). He did bring us hot sauce! Didnt need a reservation and was able to walk in on a Sunday evening! Overall 6.5/10
I was pretty excited to try this place for dinner since I saw online that they had a taco salad bowl on the menu. Unfortunately, that item is only available for lunch, so we chose the Caesar salad instead. We also asked to order a quesadilla, but were told it is only available on the kids’ menu and that adults are not allowed to order it. The server did not offer any alternatives at the time. It was not until later, after our other food had already arrived, that I mentioned I was willing to pay more for it. Only then did he agree to put in the order and said it would be a one time exception. I understand if kids’ menu items are discounted, though at $9.25 for a simple cheese quesadilla I doubt that is the case. The lack of flexibility or any attempt to offer a solution was disappointing. On another note, I ordered the barbacoa res enchilada, which was pretty good. However, at $26.75, I do not think it is a great value for the price. 4/5 for the food overall.
We ordered and sat outside, the restaurant was slow. We were there for 30 minutes and were never brought/offered water or silverware. I ordered carne asada nachos, the photo below is after a couple bites, but the nachos as a whole were so greasy and wet that 99% percent of the chips were basically soup and unable to be picked up. My vegetarian partner ordered a vegetarian burrito with jack fruit, which he didn’t like so we left very soon after the food arrived. He quickly felt sick after we left and we believe it’s due to meat continuation. Due to the prices, the service, and quality of food during a slow period, I won’t be coming back.
Not the best restaurant. Maybe one of the worst! $30 for 3 tacos. Do yourself a favor, Bart is a 3 minute walk away. Hop over to the mission for better quality and cheaper food. If there is a picture of a tourist trap in the dictionary, this is the prime example. Margaritas are premixed and mostly sugar with cheap tequila. That’s why happy hour is popular because you go here to just get drunk. They charge you for chips and even again if you want extra. Not a local spot at all. Check out places in the mission for truly authentic Mexican food. Taco Bell is Michelin star cuisine compared to this place.
While the food was delicious, I was deeply disappointed by the service and cleanliness. The restroom was in an unacceptable state, with waste on the floor; despite informing the staff, the issue was completely ignored. Additionally, the hostess was quite hostile and unwelcoming. As a fan of Mexican cuisine, I also found it very unusual to be charged extra for salsa. Overall, a disappointing experience.
