This unassuming coffee shop is a hidden gem. You can pass by and easily miss it, but it is worth the stop and visit. Very delicious coffee drinks (NOT Starbucks burned coffee). All types and specialty coffees. I’ve had the “Egg Coffee.” Surprisingly delicious and you get breaks in a cup!! Enjoying the Vietnamese coffee today. And the atmosphere is very cozy. Fun decorations, unique hangings… etc. plus other good eats & pastries
The cutest most nostalgic Hong Kong coffee shop in the area. Super underrated hidden gem, it’s open later than most coffee shops and they have a wide variety of desserts and things to order. The decor is absolutely cozy and reminiscent of an era seemingly frozen in time. Love this place
What an absolute gem in LA if you want an authentic Hong Kong cafe experience. It felt very homey inside and eccentric with a lot of different places to sit. It was busy when I went and must be a local favorite spot, as a large gaggle of Chinese women laughed and enjoyed themselves inside which added to energy of the spot. I sat outside and we got a Croissant sandwich with Turkey and Egg. A lavender latte and a Mocha Cappuccino. The croissant sandwich was tasty, fresh, and crispy. Highly recommend! The lavender latte was a little too sweet for me but was decent. Customer service was great and friendly! Would come back again, there’s parking in the back with a small back patio along with an adorable local cat that sleeps there. Overall I’m happy to have found this spot and will definitely come back!
Visited this quirky coffee spot today. We ordered the Vietnamese coffee and coffee temptation. We also ordered a freshly made spam musubi. Drinks were really good and the spam tasted healthy and had good flavor. Recommend if in the area!
Rating 5 stars because I spent about 2 hours here while waiting for my car to be serviced down the street. The owner was so kind he says good morning to each customer walking in, gave me time to look at the menu and made sure he was ready the moment I was ready to order. Made very small town vibe conversation with all the customers! I was definitely sweating or looking like I was about to walking in, but he recommended i sit at a specific table because its cooler so I would cool down - so thoughtful! The place itself is quirky in that the atmosphere is so cafe and Chinese corner store at the same time. Ample seating inside and out and he was so nice to turn on the fan by my table. The food came quickly and it's good! Very homey as some other reviews have said. They have so many fun options of drinks and food to get, but I was tired so I got a coffee milkshake and a turkey bagel sandwich. Support local businesses! This one is a gem 💕
Such a relaxing, lived-in, homey Hong Kong coffee shop. The owner asked me about my coffee tastes, recommended a fruity Ethiopian medium roast pour over, talked about the tradeoffs of siphoned coffee, French press, etc, and recommended his freshly baked croissants as particularly good today. Soothing classical guitar music, endearing hand-written signs, and idiosyncrasies of the owners as decor are all such a stark and lovely contrast to the sterile and corporate coffee shops everywhere in LA. If you want something different than that, try Fresh Roast on San Gabriel.
if I could give atmosphere 6 stars I would. this is a gorgeous coffeeshop with a vintage aesthetic (fans of the global village coffeehouse look that was popular in early aughts will love this place) and delicious treats. i got myself the hk milk tea and egg waffles with chocolate filling. very kind man who runs this shop who will go out of his way to show customers nice treats to try. plenty of seating, inside and out. will be back to try their Portuguese egg tarts soon!
My first time to try siphon coffee. Probably the freshest, most aromatic cup of coffee I've ever had! Amazing! I paired it with their avocado toast. Fresh avocado, hint of lime and delicious! They have sooo many coffee options, from so many regions. They roast in house! Satisfy your sophisticated coffee crave. Just go!
Jimmy, the owner, is an expert coffee man! He was so helpful to us and made great suggestions and drinks. His shop is a great place to kickback and enjoy your b’fast. We really enjoyed the croissant b’fast sandwich, pandan coffee, viet coffee, the rainbow Hong Kong waffle, and taho (soft tofu) . Everything was made well and tasty!
Hidden gem in every possible way. Extremely cozy seatings, a unique selection of Hong Kong style snacks and beverages and beyond (e.g., HK style egg waffles), and heart-warming services (uncle would sweetly urge us to eat if we hold off for too long, so cute!) This neighborhood coffee shop almost runs against the capitalistic logic. Such a labor of love. Full of compassion and positive vibes. Great hospitality. ❤️
Strong strong coffee and Americano. Lots of seating and variety of food from Taiwanese, Vietnamese to regular American cafe. $5minimum spend to use credit card with charge of $0.50 if it is under $15. Good for working on laptop, studying with outlets inside. Free limited parking lot. Super nice mom pop shop -- speak English and Mandarin. Popcorn chicken is more like a meal, larger chunks compare to tiny ones at Taiwanese cafe.
A rare place to find Durian flavored coffee and many other durian flavored food items. Service was quick and the coffee was good. The interior feels cozy which makes it a nice place to sit and enjoy coffee.
Quick and it is a hidden gem coffee shop in sgv with snacks, sweet and savory options. Their Asian style egg waffle is the best with many options for fillings. Their coffee is on a stronger side. They are Vietnamese and French style. The latte has flavorful tropical favors like pandan, ube or coconut, etc.
Hey y’all hope you’re doing well. I wanted to try Fresh Roast since being in high school but never had the time to stop in, growing up in San Gabriel I drove down SG Blvd daily passing by. Went in this morning at opening and ordered the HK Milk Tea and the Choclate HK Waffles :) oh boy the sugar rush was awesome. Great location and comfy chairs with good airflow via fans. Not sure the WiFi password you might have to ask, the limit is two hours (very fair). Stay cool and cheers.
My boyfriend and I live in LA but we always make a point to come here if we’re in the area. The owner, Jimmy, is very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend the iced pandan coffee and custard bubble waffle. It’s not Starbucks, so you won’t get your coffee instantaneously, but good coffee takes time. If you’re really in a hurry though, you can call and order ahead.

This is a small coffee shop located on San Gabriel Blvd. It is full of characters. There are a lot of vintage coffee related decorations. They also rent out tools to make egg waffles. The barista is a very friendly gentleman. He can make coffee based on personal preference. For example, specific flavor and how strong it should be. I ordered ube coffee with non-fat milk instead of coconut milk because I do not like coconut flavored drinks. The coffee came out good and full of ube flavor! I like it. He accept cash, card, and zelle. Perfect if we happened to forget our wallet at home, and still want a cup of coffee! There are 2 parking spots in the back, and street parking is available. This is a very convenient location, and I will come back for more coffee.

An old school cafe serving Asian inspired fare. Mochi egg waffles are a highlight. Great coffee drinks. Beans are roasted on site and are available for sale. A hidden gem!

Came at 9pm on a Saturday night. Had two other parties there, so not too busy. Got the egg coffee for $5. I've had egg coffee before in Vietnam and it was very frothy. This version is less frothy and you can't really taste the egg. I think the top may have been food coloring (I could be wrong!) but the coffee was still good. Was very strong caffeine wise. The egg waffle and ice cream was delicious. We got the green tea and chocolate. I definitely recommend with the ice cream. Goes good with the coffee which isn't too sweet. The setting itself is definitely a little worn in and disorganized. Menu items are also random. We wanted to pay but the man told us we pay when we leave. Overall, waffles are good coffee is strong. Good snack, not the cleanest, cozy.
They have 4 or 5 parking spaces in the alley, not the worst but better than no parking. Ambiance is really quiet, you can definitely work from here. Service is really nice, they speak English and mandarin and possibly Cantonese? Lots of space to work but not sure where the outlets are. I just read here and it was very peaceful. They have a couple tables by the parking spaces but since there's trash cans there, a lot of flies. But there's a cute cat that just sleeps there. Food wise I got a spam musubi, a strawberry lemonade, tea egg and popcorn chicken. Wasn't really feeling egg waffles but that seems to be what they're known for. Food was meh for the items I got, spam musubi had a good spam to rice ratio but lacked a little on flavor. Gave it a 5 though because I saw three other folks order egg waffles so I assume that's the thing to get.
This is a nice find for a quick stop and sip rest. The coffee was good, the guy who served me, not sure if he was the owner but very pleasing and accommodating to make you feel comfortable to stay. No rush or attitude - refreshing for LA :) - I got a off menu coffee made for me that I wanted - tasted great and I would highly recommend the Hong Kong style Egg Waffles - I had the chocolate ones snd they were so good! Hot and tasty …. Chilled atmosphere, great coffee and pleasant service, a funky find that you can’t go wrong. ( Tip: there’s parking at the back of front off Broadway and you can go through the outside seating area to the back of the store)

We LOVE the coffees and egg waffles here! The interior of this place isn't exactly conventional, but it's quirky and charming. And the owner guy is funny, kind, knowledgeable, and amiable. If only there wasn't some creepy dude on the back patio taking pictures of the cars that park in front of it and running their plates. My husband and I saw him doing that, and we haven't been back since. I suppose I can park out front to avoid this guy, but he seems like he's affiliated with this place and he made me feel pretty unwelcome and a bit unsafe.
The owner seemed impatient and kept trying to upsell even after we had already ordered enough. The coffee was disappointing too. Overall, not a pleasant experience.
