Holy moly. Surprisingly REALLY good! I got a pistachio croissant that was absolutely outstanding coupled with a Matcha melon latte, that had a subtle yet “not too sweet” Asian flavor, chef’s kiss! Just come here early cause the line can get longish but not too bad 10-15 minute or so 5/5 would highly recommend

Good vibes and quality coffee at Academic. Nice selection of regular and specialty drinks. Atmosphere is friendly but busy and more of a college coffee shop which is cool. Feel the pastries are a bit too sweet for my palette but ordered a cortado and it was just Perfect!! Thank you and would recommend..

I was only in San Jose for the day and had no idea this coffee shop had gone viral when I searched for shops near my hotel. Just want to start out by saying the flavor of the banana cream espresso latte was worth it! It was a long line to order and about a 25 minute wait for the latte. But the cashier was upfront about that before I paid! By 10am they were basically out of all of their pastries so if you want one get there early. I got the banana cream espresso latte. I ordered it half sweet, which was still pretty sweet for me. And with oat milk. The flavor was absolutely delicious. My only issue is that by the time I walked about 5 minutes down the street, the coffee was already cold. I should’ve ordered it extra hot with how quickly they were making and trying to pump out as many lattes as possible. It’s a small ship so don’t expect to sit. Worth a stop for sure!

Academic is a nice little coffee shop. The staff is really chill and friendly. They have some fun food options, with unique pastries and donuts. And of course, the lattes are good too. If you find yourself in downtown San Jose, definitely swing by and grab a donut and some coffee.

This was a great coffee spot ! Came here after looking at the reviews . Did not disappoint. We got a flat white and the piloncillo latte ( it was just the right amount of sweet and flavorful . The flat white was also excellent . This spot was busy and there was a line . Someone making some breakfast sandwiches outside . They know what they’re doing ! Also - the pastry we got was really good !!! Everything croissant 🥐 yum !

Academic Coffee serves a solid flat white that’s sure to satisfy. It delivers a well-balanced and flavorful experience. The espresso is smooth, and the milk is steamed to the right consistency, making for a pleasant drink. The atmosphere at Academic Coffee is inviting, perfect for studying or meeting up with friends. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit for a reliably good coffee experience.

I saw this place on TikTok because of their banana cream drinks and let me say that it did not disappoint. The banana cream did not taste artificial at all and the matcha was perfectly sweet and sweet. Even my mom approve of this place. However it is very crowded so I recommend getting there really early like before 9-10am

This place is quite popular on tiktok, so we decided to check it out. Got the banana cream matcha and an iced latte. They were pretty decent, a bit on the sweeter side. Lines were quite long, so it could be bit of a wait.

Academic Coffee in downtown San Jose is a great stop if you’re looking for quality coffee and excellent pastries. The pastries were especially good, fresh, flavorful, and clearly well made. You can tell a lot of care goes into the ingredients and the overall product. The coffee itself was generally very good, though it did have a slightly fermented flavor profile that may appeal to some but wasn’t quite my personal preference. That said, it seems like many regulars really enjoy it, and the shop clearly has a strong and loyal clientele. The main downside is the size of the space. It’s very small, with no tables and almost no room to wait. Most people are standing around for their orders, and if you grab something to eat on site, there’s unfortunately nowhere to sit. They also don’t offer a way to heat pastries, which felt like a missed opportunity given how good they are. It feels like the shop is intentionally designed for quick in-and-out service, which I can understand for a busy coffee spot. Still, a bit more attention to hospitality and customer comfort, however limited the space, would really elevate the experience. Overall, a solid coffee shop with great pastries and a strong identity, just not ideal if you’re hoping to linger.

tiktok famous place, the matcha is phenomenal, one of the best i’ve tried in the bay unfortunately they ran out of the guava matcha right before i got to the register :( and there’s always an employee yelling about running out of drinks and the wait time, which makes it kind of a stressful environment to be honest. i understand they’re just trying to communicate with everyone but it’s disconcerting for announcements to be made through yelling. i waited 45 minutes total (waiting to order & waiting for the drink to be made) on a sunday afternoon and paid $9. overall probably won’t be back because of the stress to get the drink but worth a visit :)

A great place in Sanjose for a nice cup of coffee. Their ambience and location is great and I love their service. We got Madagascar vanilla latte and flat white. Both were really good. I love their coffee flavor and the barista did a great job. A good cozy place to catch up with friends.

Cute little coffee shop. A lot of folks seem to come here to either work or just chill. There’s a nice outdoor seating area, which is wonderful for days with good weather. I went around the closing time, and they had run out of all the pastries. Honestly, it’s on me for going there so late. I got the ice vanilla latte, and it was pretty good. I wouldn’t say it was a super little experience, though, but like a good regular iced coffee.

a bit crowded and busy during weekend morning when we visit. ordered an oat latte and a pandan latte, they were both great! A bonus point here is that they partner with hash n dash sandwiches as a pop up on the weekend which makes perfect breakfast with your coffee or drinks. Love the vibe of outside seating.

Ordered a matcha latte; while the drink took a little longer than expected to arrive, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the matcha latte itself was a bit underwhelming—the flavor was faint, almost watery, and lacked potency. It didn’t have much grassy or creamy notes. However, the color of the latte was appealing and bright. The café’s interior isn’t fully furnished yet and indoor seating is quite limited, making it less comfortable for those who want an indoor environment. I would recommend Izumi Matcha or Cere Tea for those looking for a stronger matcha flavor.

Lattes and cappuccinos are just random pour of milk into caffeine shots. Just skip the line and walk a few steps to Voltaire coffee instead for amazing coffee with beautiful art. They also have a much nicer sitting area inside and outside.
