Pearl River offers a unique blend of Chinese and Latino flavors, particularly Venezuelan. Many enjoy the generous portions and flavorful dishes like fried rice and Shop Suey. Some find the food oily/salty, and service can be inconsistent.

I ordered from Uber Eats wonton soup and chow mein with thin noddles. It was so delicious the soup came in two containers one for the broth and the other filled with plenty of wontons, shrimp, chicken and pork pieces. Along with baby bok choy and cabbage. The chow mein was combination with a equal amount of veggies and meat. I WILL RE ORDER AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!
The food tasted amazing and it's reasonably priced with massive portions. I ordered the mini to go (altho they have nice seating indoors too) and I came home with a full plate of food. It was great, will be back next time I crave Chinese food.
This has always been my goto when I crave Chinese Food. This has the perfect amount of spices and soy to each dish. My staples are house chow mien, house fried rice, xo beef, war wonton and my all time favorite, honey walnut shrimp. All highly recommended!
I have loved Chinese food since I was a young boy. I have been looking for an establishment that can compare to my absolutely, all-time favorite, Hings Chinese Take Out, located on Branham Lane and Pearl Ave. (Unfortunately, they closed their doors, way back in the mid 80's. I have tried many Chinese food restaurants, in my 50+ years and most have not even come close to my childhood favorite, "Hings" . Except for Pearl River, they are the closest. There are 2 locations, and both are delicious. The Pearl River on Blossom Hill and Snell has a way better atmosphere, than their other location on Lincoln and Curtner. You will pay more money for the "atmosphere" location, because of quality of food is just a tad better than the one on Lincoln, which is less dining in, and focused more on delivery and take out. I personally go to the Lincoln Avenue spot. Both locations, have very good food, and some excellent entrees that they created themselves. Like the "Nest", which is really good. XO Beef is another fantastic dish! I highly recommend either of these 2 restaurants to anyone who is looking for great quality Chinese food. The staff is awesome, and Steve and Francis are the founders who care about what they serve, and it shows! Plus, they are really nice guys. "A" for the food, "A" for their customer service skills and "B" for their prices. What do you expect? (You pay a little more for quality ingredients.) If you love this genre of food, then give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
I absolutely LOVE this place for Chinese cuisine! They have a lunch special that gives you a choice of rice or chow mein, an egg roll or rangoon, and a main protien. My favorite are the lemon chicken and the orange beef! It has been a long time of searching to find an orange beef like I used to have as a kid! This place nails it! It is tucked away in a little shopping strip, but try it out! It is totally worth it!
Great restaurant, love and enjoy the food there with family. To me this restaurant give out a good snd amazing feeling. Go to this restaurant you will love it, trust me on this on (5 stars) also amazing waitress
This is one of those places you pass by and don't think much about, but the staff if hot and friendly; the food has a kick you wouldn't expect from merely looking at the secluded exterior. Great parking, great for quickies, you know a quick bite to eat with the person you're having a quickie with.
I ordered a beef broccoli to take. It was good, the only problem was the container it came in. The container is not good for eating in the car because I spilled some of the liquid. Otherwise a good place.
The food is very nice. The staff are accommodating with a few requests. I love the wonton soup and fried rice. They have some house special entrees in chicken like the XO chicken and the schezwan chicken.
One of the very few places in San Jose that does not automatically contain vegetables in every fried rice they make. I very much appreciate that. Which is why it is my very favorite Chinese restaurant.
One of my preferred locations for delicious Chinese food. I love going here. The service was very welcoming and sociable.
love this place. amazing broth in the wor wonton soup. generous portions and always consistent.
We enjoy the new owners courteous along with the friendly staff too. Delicious new taste of Chinese food thank you all I and my family order every weekend enjoy our dinner no complaints. Yummy !!!!
Came with my friend as this is the only Chinese restaurant he likes. He order the tomato beef chow mein HK style. I ordered the Mongolian beef. Spicy and delicious.
My DoorDash delivery. My Chow Fun had lots of pork in it. The egg rolls were delicious and filling, served with the right amount of sweet and sour sauce. My food arrived quickly and was hot. I have leftovers for tomorrow.

Great food, service, and they have a nice bar area to watch sports! Highly recommend!
I had the pleasure of dining at this hidden gem of a Chinese restaurant, and it was a remarkable experience. The service was top-notch—attentive without being intrusive. The food was exceptional, especially the Peking duck and crispy spring rolls, which were bursting with flavor. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with traditional Chinese décor that created a cozy, yet vibrant atmosphere. Perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions!
Columbian AND Chinese food? What a great spot, HUGE servings, really good food (a bit oily and a tad bit salty, but not really). I'd go back in an instant, just a bit of a drive. If you like "wok hei" they know how.
I haven't been in the restaurant to eat myself, however wife and I had a munchies moment and searched for something to satisfy our appetite, we did remember we had this place before, to make it simple we just ordered 2 items,, one was the combo fried rice,. Which was very delicious with plenty of meats, and weighed about 2 pounds, surely one of the better ones I had, enough for 3 people to share, or one hungry one...also.ordered the Beef chow fun, can't say anything bad or negative about it, it's was very delicious and plenty of it, I'll.look forward to sitting down and eating restaurant on our next visit, hopefully sooner than later.
Saw something pretty cool tonight. While I was waiting to place a to-go order they brought out the huge order for a door dash driver. I'm guessing the guy had been there for a little bit. So they also had a separate free plate for him for Christmas. The guy was super excited!! Thought that was super classy. I've always been a huge fan of this place, but this definitely sold me how how carrying the staff/management is! Highly recommend
Oh man now let me tell you. It's been a long time since I have had Chinese food Cooked to perfection. And considering the way I look . Like some kind of felon per the treatment of the SJPD and the NAACP Milpitas office. They were very kind and friendly. Was definitely a good feeling. And the food well hard to find the words. So your just going to have to go and try it yourself. These gentleman are up and coming in the Chinese food game. Wish they had a stock option. Now the restaurant is small but I believe it gives little more charm ! I have a feeling there is going to be a line out the door. Oh and you might think you're seeing double But your not there twins ! And just so everyone knows it's under new owners. Should change the name too Twin Pearl Rivers.
amazing experience if you wanna enjoy Chinese food and also enjoy the most known & favorites Chinese dishes for the South American community which is the Shop Suey and the Fried rice this restaurant evokes❤️
Amazing place for Latino inspired Chinese food, ever since moving to the US I’ve been looking for places offering the flavorful type of fried rice I grew up eating and finally found it here!! Food was delicious and fresh, also hugeee bonus points for the extra non Chinese options in the menu, felt good to eat some tequeños as we waited for our food, definitely going back!
The food was amazing plates were full of food great taste they serve tw different type food , the place could use some updated servers could be a little friendlier .

Small place with good chinese food. I went here for lunch with two small children. The server was nice and very helpful with the menu selection. She was attentive throughout the meal making sure glasses were full and we had everything we needed.
Generous serving sizes and not too greasy (dinner combo C - walnut prawns, steamed vegetables & vegetarian chow mein; previous visit I had Mongolian beef, fried rice and chicken salad)
They have this great deal for a $15 meal per person. In a family where we eat a lot, it's a good deal. The food is really good too.
Just moved to the area. Loved to see the cook a little Asian Grandma! So authentic of course I don't like to see elders working so hard but it was nice to get authentic food made. Will definitely be back! Delicious Chinese food and very friendly host.
Nice little hole on n the wall with good food and good service. Egg rolls are homemade and large so don’t over order. I had the sweet and sour pork. It was great but would like s few more veggies. The fried rice was really good as well. Hard to spot this place as it is squeezed in a little strip center. Would recommend. They do deliver.

Normally Pearl River has always been my choice for Chinese food but I was so disappointed last night. My son had ordered food from there to be delivered for my birthday last night. It was also specified to be delivered to the side door at 6 . My son and grandkids also had gotten Chinese food from a restaurant near them and we were going to face time while we ate. No food 6:00 6:05 6:10 and finally my son called and found out they had left it at the front door. - 1 I had ordered teriyaki chicken which I usually got from Panda and was always tender. Not so with last night’s. It was overcooked and not tender. My son kept asking how the dinner was and I told him about the chicken. He said put a bad review on Yelp.
5 star service, but only 3 stars for the food. Everything tasted the same and was rather oily. One dish I just couldnt eat because it was tasteless. = ( Will try again hopefully with a better review next time.
Nice family run restaurant - typical menu items - good but not great. Neighborhood place, quiet and convenient.
We ordered spicy garlic chicken awhile ago, no garlic and zero spice. Waste of time and money, eat somewhere else!
Food is so so. Not mainland china style, more like vietnam-chinese style. Drink cup is not clean.

For those who know me, you know that I hate, hate, hate giving bad reviews. there is enough negativity out there that I do not have to add to it. Plus, previous reviewers have done a good job of warning folks. But . . . Okay, so the first thing is that when I walked in, there were fries and ketchup on one of the tables. Cool, cool, cool. This could be one of those Chinese places that serves everything from breakfast to late-night grub. Mmmmm. Not really. Okay, so I ordered mushu chicken and sauteed broccoli. Both were just fine, but not all that flavorful. Food seems like "Chinese food for non-Chinese folks, which in this area seems unnecessary and a missed opportunity because there is not much in the way of Chinese food out this way. I was disappointed, to say the least. I think the worst part was that the place seemed genuinely and visibly dirty. Heading back to the bathroom may have been a mistake. Now, don't get me wrong, I do love a good hole-in-the-wall place, and I have been in my share of Chinese restaurant back areas, so the fact that this place gave me pause should tell you something. To give a single start for me means "never ever again," but in a pinch, I might come by for takeout something, but ONLY in a pinch, and I won't be going to the bathroom.
well for starters, it seemed like it was chinese food on the outside and with some reviews--maybe they're bots or fake, idk. But as soon as we stepped in we see venezuelan flags and most things were written in spanish. we gave it a chance, but we suspect the food was cooked in the microwave because some parts of the plate were super hot and others were fridge cold. it tasted like chinese food for people who never had chinese food. it was not bad per se but it just wasn't authentic chinese food. my stomach hurt as well as my boyfriend. a positive thing was their really big portions. i would increase the rating if they didn't advertise as if it were a chinese food place because it's more like chinese inspired cuisine. they only have. orange chicken :((((((
Food was decent. About standard for any Chinese place you go to. Service was AWFUL. The workers seemed to not know or care about what they were doing. Took us serval tries to get boxes and then a few more to get the check. Atmosphere is not great as they have very loud Spanish music playing and people talking on their phones all around the restaurant. Weirdest dining experience I’ve ever had. Gave two stars because the food was relatively tasty and portions are big. Strange mix of Colombian, Venezuelan, and Chinese going on here. Nothing wrong with that but I don’t understand the appeal. I’m assuming the positive service reviews are paid bots.

One of the worst in my life. I ordered some lunch combo. It felt like served out the trash bin. The spring roll was black with oil dripping like it was fried thrice. The chicken look stale and taste like c***. Better die than to visit this place.
Ok so, crazy review story time. My boyfriend was in town one day during the pandemic and he wanted Chinese food, but my favorite place, Great Wall, was still not open. We end up finding Pearl River on Doordash and placed our first order. For me personally, the testing dish is always Mongolian Beef, if a restaurant makes good Mongolian beef, I know I will love anything else on the menu. It was mediocre at best. However, the BF was in absolute delight with their potstickers and Won Ton soup. Since then, everytime this man is in town he wants to have the dang potstickers and soup. During his most recent visit, we ordered chow mein and beef and broccoli, which ended up making him really sick. We agreed that Pearl River is only good for potstickers and won ton soup, though I beg to differ about the soup. Want GREAT Chinese food?? Check out Great Wall on Bird Ave.
We ordered vegetable chow mein and Singapore noodles. The noodle was edible. Vegetable chow main had no veggie whatsoever. Just smushed a whole lot of chow main into the container (picture attached). Stay away from this place. Waste of money.
Food no flavor Nice guy last night. Young lady needs customer service experience
When we got to the place on a Friday night around 8;00pm. and the place was empty. We sat down and found spider webs on the table so we asked to move to another table. A couple minutes later the waitress showed up and asked us what we would like to drink, we asked for three glasses of ice water and a cup of hot water for my wife who was fighting a bad cold. The waitress told us that it would be a dollar for hot water. We decided that a place that is empty on a friday night and charge you for a cup of hot water cannot be good. We left. They lost at least $80.00 of revenue and future recurring customers for tryimg to charge for a cup of water. I dont think many people ask for hot water. Moreover the cost of a cup of hot water is probable less than ten cents. A glass with ice cost more than a cup of hot water as the ice makers use a lot more energy and everybody order ice water. the owner should reconsider charging for a cup of hot water and keep the tables clean (even of he does not have any customers) .
Going along with the rest of the reviews on here. Food tasted old and rubbery. Chicken looked not like chicken. If your thinking of going think twice. And if you go don’t say we didn’t try and warn you. I’ll never be back again
Quite sick of places like this using promotional deal websites to get attention, only to inform a customer that they aren't actually participating, after they've driven out of their way to get there. Food is alright, but not worth paying their full price.
I love all food, don’t complain, and am super understanding normally, but this was the worst take out we’ve ever had. No flavor in the Hot and Sour Soup, chicken was dry and tough, and no flavor in the Chow Mein. Food is soggy and over saturated with flavorless sauces and does not taste fresh. Considering I spent $80, I’m extremely disappointed and will never return. So much for trying new places...
10-20 minute time wait which is pretty good but the food has absolutely no flavor i thought i was sick. chow mein noodles were thick and looked so yummy but did not live up to the expectation
Went here by mistake thinking Pearl River from Blossom Hill Rd had reopened in this location I was sadly mistaken. The ABSOLUTE WORST Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Had to run to the restroom ten minutes after eating a just a few bites and service was horrible. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump at all costs
I selected this restaurant because it had 3.9 stars, but it is completely and utterly not recommended. Ordered take-out online, website said will be ready in 20 minutes. Then got notification that order will be ready in one hour. Tried to call to cancel the order, but no reply and voice message was full. called again - same result. wish I could give 0 stars for "service". So, we paid already so had to wait ... the wait did not prove worth it. We ordered 3 "meals" - one with chicken salad and Mongolian beef, one chicken cashew and chow mien, and one beef cashew with chow mien. all were very disappointing - again I wish I could leave less than one star. salad had no dressing and the chicken pieces were dry. Mongolian beef tasted mostly like soy and oil, very little hot spice. beef was stringy and not really good. Both chicken cashew and beef cashew had very little meat, both was mostly zucchini - beef had onions, chicken had celery - but very precious little meat. And they both had, unfortunately, the same bland no-flavor of generic nothingness. You will do better with getting any other Chinese food - even from a generic restaurant like panda or the such, or even from Safeway.
New owners took over and it was a huge disappointment. They now offer Venezuelan and Chinese food. The chicken tasted dry, the chow mein clearly had been reheated, nothing was fresh, everything lacked flavor. Maybe their Venezuelan food is better...
Just no! Got the deluxe lunch special. Everything was off putting. Egg rice was rice coated with brownish seasoning, a few flakes of green onion - very salty and greasy. Beef look better and had nice onion but was also lacking flavor and badly oversalted. Scared to eat the second egg-roll because seemed to have a runny liquid inside. A bit pile of shredded lettuces was the most edible thing on the plate. left 3/4 of food and got out. Crowed was some of the most distressed and left-behind folks you might find in so called Silicon Valley. Help was friendly but a bit zombified. Can't imagine they've had an actual qualified cook for a long while. Worst Chinese I can remember in decades. Not worried about hurting the biz because apparently it's the neighbor hood hangout. Ugg. Just no.
