Always a 5 for customer service, food is usually 3.9 to 4.5 depending on the day, but today was an easy FIVE STARS! Fresh ingredients, attention to detail (I'm a picky eater)and flavors were on point. I had been craving orange chicken, and second guessed myself, but I'm glad I ordered. The food was excellent today!
We have been eating at Pearl River since the '90s. Their food is always hot, fresh and delicious. They offer delivery service, which always beats their promised time. They must be famous for their giant eggrolls by now. They are so big that we cannot eat a whole one alone, and often split it between the two of us. Good sized portions, good food, friendly service and delivery.
So lucky we have an amazing chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. People working here are super nice and the food taste amazing. Price is fair for the quality food they serve.
I love Pearl River!!! They never disappoint me with their food. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was 5 years old. I have so many memories there and it has definitely changed it's exterior and interior. But one thing that hasn't changed is their quality and for that reason I always come back!!!
I love Pearl Rivers pork fried rice!🍜. I can't find the rice emoji!😏. Anyway the rice tastes exactly the same as the Chinese Restaurant I ate at for special occasions as a kid!! 💜👍🎂🎈. Very consistent and it brings back good memories! So ThankYou! Great deal on the mini meal ! Always Hot! And I specify NO!! MSG! Opens at 4pm and great location Snell and Blossom Hill!😊
Love the food! Always friendly and fast! The bar connected is great! Love all the regulars! Thursday night karaoke is fun and party all night long on Friday and Saturday to the old school jams.
I have been going to Pearl River Restaurant for over 30 years. I knew the parents, they retired and the kids took over. They are very successful Food is awesome, selection, ambiance, low noise level, and very personable, is the greatest I love this place The deliver as well
Been coming here since a kid over 25 years. Wontons are the most delicious canr get enough of them.
Me and my family have been eating here for yrs. Because they are not open for dine due to pandemic, we been ordering takeout. We order the 1 combination plate which comes with fried rice, chow mein, wonton soup and sweet sour pork. Really good and tasty. A definate must try
I’ve been a patron on and off for almost 20 years. Employees are great here and the food as well. I have never had a bad dish.
Food was great! We had the potstickers and family plan B dinner. It was plenty of food for the four adults in our party. Great service from very friendly servers.
I give Pearl River 5 Stars the food was ready when I got there the employees are kind and asked me if I needed anything extra my order was right on the money I ordered Mongolian beef it was exquisite I ordered BBQ pork rice not too dry not too wet honey shrimp prawns were exquisite not enough pronto I remove some pork they only gave me four tortillas I would have preferred 6 there's enough food for 6 Chinese burritos I would strongly suggest you go there once just to try it turn the corner of blossom Hill and and Snell avenue I believe it is the same parking lot where Safeway is enjoy my dinner too early and I suggest you do there in order to go I welcome all your feedback this is Daniel James you have sex artist wishing everybody a good weekend
Everything is prepped and made from scratch. Some of my favorites include Cream Cheese Fried Won Tons, Pot Stickers, and Wor Won Ton Soup. Honey Walnut Shrimp is the best in the bay! Ps. Delivery can also be flexibly done with DoorDash or UberEats.
Lunch special is amazing. Best bang for your buck quality chinese course meal lunch for the price of a mcdonald meal. Love the beautiful and kind girl working here at the front on the weekdays
I can't handle onions nor shellfish and they made all my items fresh just for me. The wait was definitely worth the ability to digest my food without any allegic reactions, and all 8 dishes ordered were absolutely perfect!
Very clean and set up is really nice. Our waitress was very informative and very tentative. We ordered the #3 dinner special. For two people we got soup, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 sides. All for $17 per person. Everything was delicious and well presented on our plates. I would definitely recommend this place if you want nice, comfortable, affordable and delicious Chinese food.
A beautiful, elegantly adorned space, with a full menu of traditional Chinese dishes, tasty and with the level of spice adjustable to your taste upon request. Service is respectful, food is ready quickly. Definitely a place for a fast, delicious meal with no shortcuts taken.
The food was delicious. We wanted to try something new, so we ordered the Pearl River skinny noodles, sweet & sour chicken, and sauteed eggplant.
We ordered Dinner for 2 at $15.95 per person, you get more variety to choose from. I ordered the won ton soup and two pot stickers. Then my main dish. See the picture. Everything was awesome down to the Hot Tea!
Excellent food, combination meals tend to be the best deal and offer the most variety.

*This review is for dine-in service only as we haven’t ever really done take-out or any of the delivery services. I've been meaning to write this review for Pearl River Restaurant and Lounge for quite some time now. This place holds a special spot in our family's history, as we used to dine here when I was growing up. Today, it's run by one of the sons of the original owners, it’s a lovely and friendly family. When it comes to the food, there are certain dishes that truly make the experience worthwhile for me: their war wonton soup, salt and pepper chicken wings, XO beef, chicken lettuce wraps, and if you're in the mood for noodles, their combo skinny noodles is great. These are the dishes we consistently order because they're consistently done right. While there may be other items on the menu that other people may like, we know what works for us, and we stick to it. Whenever I recommend this place to friends, I make sure to suggest these same dishes, and they've typically been quite pleased. The bar and lounge area, which recently underwent remodeling, has expanded to a circular bar, allowing customers to enjoy sports while dining in the restaurant, whereas previously there was a large dividing wall. I appreciate the remodeling, as it presents an opportunity for livelier evening gatherings. However, what truly sets this place apart is the sense of familiarity - if you're a regular, everyone knows your name and preference. The service consistently maintains a high level of cordiality and attentiveness, with a genuinely nice staff.
Everything I’ve ordered has been spectacular. This pearl river is amazing! I now find myself ordering from them often, and I’m never disappointment. I do dine in and I also do delivery. It’s always great fast and yummy.
OMG. The food was delicious. This was me and my mom’s first time eating here and it was super yummy. The food was amazing. Also, the customer service was amazing as well. Very friendly. I love the recommendations. Thank you so much for making my first visit memorable. We will definitely be coming back.
Fantastic Chinese food. Kevin (owner) is the best! The cocktail lounge is the best place to have a drink. Friendly atmosphere, always something fun going on at the bar. Great prices, great drinks. Good place to watch sports. I highly recommend Pearl River and Pearl River lounge.
Who likes authentic Chinese food made ready to order? Mmm! This place brings me back to another time, with the setting the hosts welcome and the service to die for! I would definitely choose pearl River, take out of dine in! Any day.
Excellent Chinese Food. The salt and pepper fish is my favorite go-to.. it’s best consumed on site immediately while it’s hot!

Been coming here for atleast 25 years. Food has been consistently great and service fast. Food is way better when you eat there. Getting it delivered definately takes away from the taste with certain dishes getting soggy and steam saturated. Great food and definately reccomend.
Coming from Chicago, I noticed West Coast does not offer "Lo Mein" but Pearl has something comparable. My hubby wasn't 100% blown away by it. But I LOVE the fried rice, best I've ever had along with the egg rolls...different but delicious! Also west coast doesn't have crab Rangoon but I was happy to find "cream cheese wontons" which are pretty good substitute. Overall, I like Pearl a lot.
Good food and s lot of it Be prepared to get a to go box. Cream Cheese Wontons were out of this world good and the insides were warm Can be a bit pricey, but this is our 4th trip back.
The people there are usually very friendly. The service for takeout is generally pretty fast. And you can get french fries at a Chinese food restaurant! How cool is that?
I ordered orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, chow mein and kung pao tofu. The food was good but not the best I had. I would say it was quality for the price. I'm going to shop around the area for other Chinese restaurants before I return.
Awesome place for adult beverages, & Chinese food. Had a great time just hanging with my Daughter's here!

I have been a long time customer, over 30 years, the food is OK, but not as good as it was with the last generation of the last family that operated the business, the night club must be the main reason why? In my opinion, the bar is better, the restaurant (food) is not as good. and the take out/ delivery portions are smaller with a much higher price.
Table service was good, but the food is catered toward American customsrs rather than Chinese customers. For example: the noodles in won ton soup are top ramen instead of egg noodle. Also, the walnut shrimp was rather dissapointing they were too chewy. The dough was thick. Its okay priced for South San Jose though.
The staff were nice and attentive, and the space was nice. Sadly, the Imperial Chicken was incredibly bland. No salt, no spices, as far as I could tell. No chopsticks set out, only forks, and no hot tea when you sit down.
We were hankering for Chinese food and I am glad we came across this place. This restaurant is focused on making good food. The hot and sour soup was thick and filled with mushrooms, tofu, and prawns and the chicken fried rice was delicious!

Wanted hot & sour soup and this is close to home. We ordered a few of our favorites. The soup is bland and needs more vinegar. Really enjoyed the pork fried rice. The flavor of the orange chicken is good, but soggy texture. Egg rolls are disappointing. They're more like tempura Chinese burritos. Way too big, didn't even bother eating one. Sweet & sour pork is good. Disappointed to find out the pork buns aren't filled with BBQ Pork. There are other Chinese restaurants in the area with better food.
It’s a clean place but the service started to lack since the new young employees two young ladies who lack in their services. They don’t ask if you need any more beverages or if you need any napkins or if you need any more chili oil.. I love this place have been coming to this place since 2005 and seen the changes in the restaurant.

The food is hearty, delicious, and affordable. Unfortunately, their sanitization practices are iffy at best. Their cashier, who handles cash, is the same person who handles the napkins and unwrapped plastic utensils for all to go orders. I walked up to pick up my to go order today, the woman at the register did not have a mask on when I approached. She then proceeded to scratch her nose, put her mask on, then handed me my unwrapped utensils and napkins with the same hand. This is how they act in front of customers. I couldn't imagine what it's like in the back of house where no one can see. TLDR: the food is delicious but you're risking your life eating here with their poor sanitization practices.
The food was mediocre american chinese food as others had pointed out. The portions were filling but weren't anything special. The service was below par and cleanliness was lacking. The restaurant seems to be confused as to what their atmosphere should be especially as the music and the vibe don't match. Overall, I can only recommend this restaurant to someone that needs a semi-quick meal that is filling. Even then it still is not that far above chinese fast food chains and/or buffets.
This is the second time I’ve ordered a chicken dish at this particular Chinese restaurant. This is the last time the chicken is so dry underneath the breading and sauce I needed kitchen scissors to cut through the chicken I am not kidding! We also order the war wonton soup it tasted like lettuce water my daughter said with soggy old lettuce leaf, no ginger, no soy sauce just plain old lettuce water and old wontons, The only person who liked the food with the dog. Please don’t waste your hard earned money on this old chicken they serve and old soup!
The food had no flavor. Every dish we ordered (5) was bland and not very well cooked. I would not order again.

first time I've been to this restaurant. Very disappointed. The food was dry, quantity was very minimal. I had the house fried rice, beef in oyster sauce, chicken with broccoli, and the walnut shrimp. I would not go back to this place!!!
Very disappointed, no flavor. Ordered war wanton soup, looked good, but the broth was water not even salt. Sweet and sour pork, no veggies or sauce and cold and incredibly bland. It was expensive and honestly, I should have returned the entire meal. Never again, seriously!!!
Today we went there for the 1st time and ordered Wor Won Ton Soup, Pork Bun, Spicy garlic chicken and Singapore noodles. The soup was nearly OK, nothing special. However, the Singapore noodles and specially the Garlic Chicken was awful. They are tasteless, Chicken was full of cornstarch sauce and literally taste like slime. The cook should take a cooking class.
So sick of places like these using promotional deal websites to get attention, only to inform a customer that they aren't actually participating, after they've driven out of their way to get there. Not paying their full price just to discover the food is probably almost as bad.
Order pickup and there was the longest hair in it. I'm done giving them chances. They rude they never swap out their soy sauce ( poured it, and it had a fly in it) (before covid).
1. It smelled very strange! 2. I got egg rice, very good. 3. Chow mein flavorless but eatable 4. Sweet and sour chicken not good and not to mention it had a piece of paper in it, I almost eat it. 5. Cream cheese won ton very good. 6. Mongolian wings very salty and very spicy. Never again!
Ordered 2 orders of egg rolls, to go. Totally inedible, had trouble even cutting through it. All 4 went right in the trash.

My husband and I have been loyal customers of Pearl River for many years, hoping each visit would bring a better experience. Unfortunately, after our recent visit, I can confidently say that we will never return. If I could give them a negative star rating, I absolutely would. To start, my husband ordered the war wonton soup, which he usually enjoys with extra noodles. What we received was shocking. The noodles looked and tasted like cheap Top Ramen, and we couldn't believe we were charged an extra $2.00 for such a subpar product. It was both disappointing and frustrating. As for my favorite dish, the lemon chicken, I was equally let down. It used to be the best in South San Jose, but this time, the chicken was tough, and the sauce tasted like something out of a TV dinner. I had high hopes for a delicious meal, and I left feeling incredibly disappointed. I truly wanted to love Pearl River again, but this last experience has made it clear that we will be looking elsewhere for our Chinese food cravings. It's a shame to see a once-great restaurant fall so far short of expectations.
