I eat at Sendo Sushi usually almost every Friday and I love this place. The owners are friendly and you eat in a very fun and relaxed environment. Their bento boxes and their Deep Fried California Roll is to die for. You have got to try this place.
As usual, Sendo Sushi is a popular place for lunch. If you get there by 11:45 then seating isn't an issue. The food was very satisfying.
Fresh ingredients, friendly and fast service, and a dining room full of nostalgic movie posters. One of my favorite casual dinner spots.
I went just half hour before closing time. They were very friendly and the deluxe 10-piece nigiri combo was the biggest I have ever seen. I literally filled my stomach with sushi :-) Tasteful also. A great find!
Wonderful place with awesome staff and yummy food! Bento boxes are especially delicious! Try S1 - california rolls with grilled salmon, rice, salad and miso soup. Come by and when it comes to pick up a place for a lunch you wouldn't have a doubt what place to choose.
I live nearby and been visiting regularly for over a year. The food is consistently good, and staff attentive. Menu has lot of interesting roll types. Restaurant has a nice & local feel.
We revisited Sendo Sushi yesterday and decided to try Ika menus because we are crazy fans of squid (Ika). so we ordered Ika sushi , Ika yaki( grilled whole squid) , tempura Ika and other rolls. MUST TRY ALL IKA MENUS !!!! So fresh, So tasty, So crispy !!! We will be back next week !!
Cute and tidy little Sushi place. I was the annoying customer who came in at 1:45 p.m. when they closed at 2 p.m. for lunch, and I was still accommodated. The chef/owner/manager (I should have asked) was helpful and customer service-oriented. The restaurant itself is clean and has a nice little ambiance to it. The food, which was fresh and generously portioned, reassured me of the quality and value for money.
Sushi are very fresh, and quality, staff are very friendly, only thing is they're not open weekend, and close a bit early 8 pm. I wish they're open on weekend.
We went for dinner. I had a Dragon Roll, and others with me had a Shrimp Tempura Entree and a Bento Box with Beef Teriyaki / Stir Fried Vegetables. For dessert, we had the green tea ice cream and the mochi ice cream. My favorites from the evening were the sushi and the green tea ice cream. The portions were well-sized, the food was tasty, and the server was very kind. It was a great experience, and I would happily go again.
I was craving some sushi and I saw this place and decided to try it. It was delicious and the salmon seems like very good quality. The tempura shrimp was perfectly crunchy.
I love Sendo Sushi. I have been coming here for years, through multiple chef changes, though I haven't been back nearly as often as I like these days. The staff is always wonderful, and the current chef makes pretty good sushi rolls, which is what this place does well, boasting a fun, extensive selection to please most people. My family and I always go for the Paradise Roll (known as the Lion King at most other sushi places), supplemented with whatever other rolls we feel like having and/or trying for that meal, often opting for the Super Philly, Dragon Roll, and Baked Scallops.
Our go-to sushi place! Friendly service, delicious sushi in generous servings, and complimentary dessert! The ambiance is nice, but not fancy--which matches the price-point, in my opinion. Be aware they serve lemon in their water. We love this place!
I had a bento box and it was great! Teriyaki Chicken was slightly breaded and it tasted good with the sauce. Tempura was well fried. Salad was also good with sesame flavored dressing. Each kind of food was well separated in the box so that their flavors do not interfere each other.
I have been eating at Sendo for about 18 years now. This is one of the best kept sushi secrets in San Jose. The Sake is fabulous and the rolls are the best I have come across at any sushi restaurant to date. I travel all over the western US, and this is my favorite Japanese cuisine. The service is great, the owner takes time to stop at my table and make sure all is well. Lets just say in 18 years, I or anyone I have taken here, have yet to be disappointed. The only place which could rival this is in Yokohama Japan. This is my standard for Japanese food.
Amazing local sushi spot. I ordered takeout - the fish was incredibly fresh, and the rolls were perfectly balanced. Will definitely order again.
Delicious sushi and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend the food here. I had the specialty rolls and they’re always fresh and flavorful. The rolls are a good large portion! I like that if you sit down they give you complementary edamame. The miso soup was full of flavor and the mochi ice cream was soft and sweet, so delicious! Also, every time I’ve been to the restaurant the staff have always been kind and made me feel welcomed. I like the decor, my part favorite being a wall of cinematic posters. Good for starting a conversation of you’re with someone.
Visited them quite a few times. All raw fish dishes are highest quality. Fish pieces are of generous size. Staff is very friendly and quick. Can't believe we have this gem at our little lunch plaza.
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT It's a shame the previous owners tarnished the Sendo Sushi name because my experience was nothing like I had previously read online. The sashimi tasted fresh and had the right consistency. Teriyaki chicken was flavorful but not overly artificial and sugary. And the salmon was cooked to perfection with a wonderful flavor profile. The Dynamite and Crunchy Salmon rolls were of similar vein while also offering all the trendy accouchements that most modern sushi spots have nowadays. I would have to say, Sendo Sushi punches above it's weight class and the pricing was extremely competitive for the quality of food you're getting. I can comfortably say Sendo is one of the better eateries in the North San Jose
Dinner bento box is a great option if you want to try multiple items! Had the tuna roll, salmon teriyaki, and sashimi- all were very good and the fish was very fresh! Portions are large and the food is all delicious. Service was wonderful and attentive. Will definitely be back!
I am pleasantly surprised to find such a nice Japanese restaurant. Apparently, the new owner turned the place upside down. The place is now super cute and clean. Food is amazing! Sashimi is so fresh and udon broth is to die for!! We only had tempura udon but I heard the spicy seafood udon is just as good. Crunch shrimp roll had an unique parsley flavor and the sashimi salad is a “must-try”. I cannot wait to go back for more!
Fun ambience and great service! I guess new owners renovated and changed the menu. Super clean and fresh.
I'll be back! The food is very fresh and tasty. The stuff is polite and fast. My order was ready in 20 minutes. I very happy that the restaurant is working. I highly recommend this place ;) 🍣🍤
Great place for sushi in silicon valley. I visited recently and I realized that this was the same small strip mall that I use to grab lunch at when I worked nearby about 12yrs ago. The owners who ran the place were very nice and accommodating as we came in about 35 mins before closing.
I had a dinner bento with 3 items to go and thought the price was a bit high, but it came with a huge portion and everything tasted great, so it totally justified the price. Would come back for the teriyaki chicken. :)
Bento Heaven. I love their bento box here. I’ve had sushi and other stuff but the tempura is amazing. It’s light and flakey and perfection. I always get C3. Teriyaki chicken with tempura and a soup. You even get the soup if it’s to go.
Tried the Chirashi don, and it was fresh and tasty. It came with a red miso soup, which was perfectly hot and delicious; with tofu and green onions. Service was excellent, timely and courteous. Would recommend for sushi, and will come back again.
I ate nabeyaki udon and spicy tuna roll. Wow, taste was really good. I recommend you to try those at Sendo Sushi.

The staff is always friendly and fast! My go to when I'm in town. Great prices on dinner boxes!
Oh, after having such a rough week I was very happy that my pick up order was perfect. Delicious miso soup, sizable dragon roll, and the first restaurant that knows how to pack tempura to go. Thank you, will definitely be back again!

Sendo sushi is a very friendly place. This place can get very crowded during lunch time on a work day and the parking lot can get very crowded. Their sushi rolls are very big, if you finish one piece in one bite, it will probably take you a minute to finish chewing it before you can open your mouth again. I tried their teriyaki beef lunch bento box last week. I think the beef was a bit tough, otherwise it's great.
This place is near why work in silicon valley and is a very popular spot for lunch for the surrounding business workers. the restaurant is not very big as many Japanese and sushi restaurants tend to be however it does have a very large menu with lots of different kinds of rolls to choose from. these are less of the traditional role that you see in every sushi restaurant and more of the special concoctions that local sushi restaurants will do that represents the local landscape. Otherwise the menu is your classic Japanese sushi restaurant offerings that includes bento boxes and rice bowls as well as udon soups. Because the foot traffic through this sushi restaurant is relatively high at lunch time they try to serve quickly and give you the bill quickly so don't expect to come here on a weekday and have a casual sit-down lunch with hopes of lingering in conversation beyond finishing your meal. I had the food on soup and found that it was acceptable but did not have any real character or flavor that I will take with me long term. It was beef-flavored and I found the small cuts of beef that were made into small chunks rather than sliced into thin slices were overcooked in the soup and a bit on the tough side to chew and did not really convey a sense of beef flavor in the meat itself. Also had a spicy tuna roll and one of their custom rolls which were both over all fine but the rice surrounding the exterior the sushi seem to be a bit loose and fell apart when picked up and did not have the tight wrap that I prefer on my rolls. The tuna used in the rules that I had ordered were more of the pureed style versus the whole tuna chunks that I also like on my tuna rolls.
The taste and flavor they offer is pretty awesome across the menu. I have had the Bento Box multiple times and it was good every single time. Not many options if you are a vegetarian though.
This sushi spot is down the street from my house and it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Granted I usually come in for lunch and order a bento box. I love the spicy chicken teriyaki, veggie tempura and California rolls. Their Chile. Matsu was good but I prefer the teriyaki. Their miso soup is tasty. Restaurant is typical sushi restaurant size. They may accommodate larger parties with notice. The art on the wall is movies, action figures, and things of that nature I haven't tried too much outside of that so I will have to order more when I go next time. I want to order specialty rolls. Will update the review after the fact.
Sendo Sushi was very good. Was it the best, probably not but I will rate it right under the best sushi place. We got the bento boxes with Teryaki Chicken, Sashimi, and Tempura. The prices aren't that expensive considering how much it is at other sushi places and the food is real good. The service was amazing, from the greeting by every employee once we walked in the door to multiple times we were checked on while we were eating. I didnt give it a 5 star, because 5 stars are only reserved for the best. We will definitely be coming back here again.
Great hole in the wall sushi. Ordered Deluxe Sashimi and it was really fresh, good fish. Salad and soup are standard. Atmosphere is good, seating is old, strip mall sushi. Nice people and love the photos on the wall. Will come back again.
One of th restaurants you can casually visit
Service is good, but the food is very average. The miso soup is not hot, just a little warm. Probably was cooked a while ago.

Korean owned/operated, which we prefer. Right across from the huge Samsung bldg so is always packed during lunch. Sashimi is very fresh, large thick cuts, delicious. The Japanese owned/operated restaurants can keep their too thin cuts to themselves. The rolls are smothered in goopy mayo based sauce. We think they need to put sauces on the side as you can't differentiate the taste of the various rolls as they all taste like mayonnaise. We'll pass on rolls in the future here and just get the sashimi.
Good food, service is fast. A bit challenging to find parking.

The food is average at best. The biggest turn offs are mostly service related. The last time we were here we got two of the same item. They came ten minutes apart. My partner finished before my food arrived. We were one of two couples in the restaurant, so it was a slow day for them. We've been here multiple times and it's slow every time. For the price there are much better japanese/sushi options out there.
Had take out here, 4 rolls, was very disappointed overall. Fish quality was not great, and rolls were overpriced for what you got. Staff were nice however, and online ordering was easy.
I'm by default a 5 star reviewer if places meet even basic expectations, but tonight my wife and I had what certainly would qualify as the worst sushi of our lives, and we eat a lot of sushi, even budget sushi. The tuna on our roll was the worst cut of the fish, bloody with no fat, and extremely bad tasting. I literally gagged and spit it out. Not even an amateur chef would dare cook that bad of a piece of meat, let alone use it in sushi. The eel was also terribly fishy tasting and strandy, with large bones I had to pick out. I've never had an eel roll I didn't like until this one. I hate to give a restaurant a bad review because I know the damage it can do first hand, but this was a genuinely bad experience I hope never to repeat. I've had passable sushi here in the past, one time I might have said it almost edged into the "decent sushi" category. I liked this place mainly because it's convenient to my location. In the past I would have given 4 or 5 stars, because it hadn't been "bad" (but not great either), but this experience was a 1 star meal at best, and one bad sushi meal can do a lot of damage (especially for the cost), so I'll settle on 2 stars because I'm not risking spending my money here again, despite prior passable meals.
We placed a pickup order through their website on June 2nd, and I was really disappointed with the quality. The rolls were falling apart and poorly assembled. The Unagi Roll was mostly skin with barely any meat, and the Philadelphia Roll had cream cheese that looked more like cottage cheese, have doubts about cream cheese quality/freshness.

I really feel badly leaving this negative review but I think it will at least aforewarn others when they dine here. We ordered multiple sushi rolls here, most of them range between $14-$19 with a few over $23 each. While some tasted ok, they were ALL (every single roll) just drenched with so much gloopey mayonaise-based sauce it was quite disgusting and salty, actually. The fillings, the great majority of most rolls, have a central "crab" aka fake crab actually made from cheap processed pollock (common fish) base. We would not dine here again, ever. It feels like fast food "sushi". Also, the tables and the walls adjoined to the tables were dirty and splattered with soy sauce. We were grateful for single-use disposable chopsticks. However, to some palettes this type of food may be enjoyed, thus to each their own. Caveat emptor.
Hate to give one-star reviews. But I had asked for vegetarian recommendations, which were clearly labeled on the menu. Waitress recommended the futomaki roll. Towards the end of the roll, the pieces fell apart, and I noticed SHRIMP was inside it all long. Waitress apologized for not asking if I'd be OK with shrimp?! I wonder if anything was vegetarian, or if they used fake crab meat (which comes from fish) or fish cake in the roll. I felt sick afterwards as I haven't eaten seafood or meat in years.
They put very little fish, when you pay $17 for special roll you expect to have normal amount of fish on the top, not the 1/2 of millimeter thin fish layer. Also ordered rainbow roll- mostly was covered by white cheap fish. Sushi are below average. Didn’t like this place.
