Sushi Confidential is praised for its fun atmosphere, attentive service (especially from staff like Bailey, Sheamir, Vons, Marco, Melissa P, GEO, Miriam, and Ian), and tasty food. The Geisha roll is a standout. Some find it pricey for the quality.

Had a great experience at Sushi Confidential in downtown San Jose. Started with a beer and ordered the unagi sake salmon, Hot Cheetos roll. Everything was excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly well prepared. What really stood out was the service. Bailey was fantastic. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us great recommendations that absolutely paid off.
The backyard is a sweet escape from your traditional restaurant, table top fires, and the beautiful lights will transport you to your happy place. Our server Vonz gave us the most amazing experience.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Giovanny definitely one of the best bartenders l've ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the moment I sat at the bar i felt welcome, seen, and genuinely cared for--not just as a customer, but as a person and everything I had to say despite how busy he was!! I had the rainbow roll and asked Giovanny to add lemon slices which he made no problem! He has a way of making everyone feel like a regular, even if it's your first time there. His drinks are amazing (seriously, the man knows his craft) i order a ranch water everywhere and this one REALLY impressed me!!! but it's the warmth, kindness, and heart he puts into every interaction that really sets him apart. He's attentive but not overbearing, he just cool, and you can tell he loves what he does. Do yourself a favor and stop by. Ask for Giovanny. You'll walk away with a great drink and an even better memory at sushi confidential
Sheamir took great care of our large group! The outdoor patio area was perfect for our lunch time birthday celebration. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. I loved my Urban Myth vegetarian roll!
Food, atmosphere and drinks were amazing! Bailey was our server and she was awesome!
Miriam is the best bar tender. Best drinks and service! We are visiting from San Diego and this was the sushi was fire very fresh. We enjoyed a Phenomenal happy hour on outdoor patio. Thanks for a great time! Georgina
Food amazing. Service amazing. Miriam was helpful and very knowledge of the menu. Our first time here but next time we're in town will def b back. Tuna taco was out of this world . The dj on Sundays is genius 8
Great vegetarian and gluten free options. Overall everything was great, the only slight problem was our larger group (8 people) was cramped and did not have enough room to really sit comfortably and the table was not big enough for our plates and cups.
Cool place to hang out with friends for happy hour. Our server Bailey is really good
Vons had great customer service . Very welcoming . Great place to eat. Dowtown San Jose location!
Sheamir was the best server! Very personable and fun to add to the already very exciting experience to have at this restaurant.
Bailey was super helpful in helping us choose drinks and food. The atmosphere was nice and casual. The food was good too.
First time here & service was exceptional. Sheamir was great and attentive. Celebrated my brother’s 30th birthday and she made sure he was celebrated! Oh and the food was great! Thank you!
We had reservations to go to dinner across the street at Dr.Funk and it was awful service, so we went to sushi confidential and it was definitely the right choice. The food was fast and delicious, and the service was great! I loved having the fire pit to eat by on a chilly fall evening.
I recently hosted our holiday party at Sushi Confidential for a group of 10, and I can confidently say it was the best sushi experience in the Bay Area! From start to finish, the staff was incredible, and our server Sheamir truly went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and taken care of. Her vibrant personality added so much to our experience! What impressed me even more was when the owner Sushi Randy came out to personally thank us for being there. It’s those little touches that make a restaurant stand out! As for the food, it was hard to pick a favorite since everything we tried was absolutely delicious. However, I must highlight the garlic edamame—it was simply amazing! I also enjoyed a refreshing cucumber drink that perfectly complemented our meal. We dined on the beautiful patio, which added to the lovely atmosphere of the evening. If you’re looking for a fantastic sushi spot with excellent service and mouthwatering dishes, look no further than Sushi Confidential! I can't wait to return!
Bailey was so helpful and professional. She even had recommendations on the menu. This is now one of my go to places !
Highly recommend asking for Daniel whenever you come!! I mean…who even smiles on a Monday these days! DANIEL DOES, that’s who! Recommend the best drinks, gave us laughs and giggles, and greeted us with smiles from beginning to end. Accommodate our request for the booths and even took selfies/pics for us. Daniel, thank you for making our dull Monday night awesome!
Bailey provided exceptional service. Sushi confidential always offers great service every time we visit the DT restaurant. 😊
Great ambience , great sushi Beautiful place for a romantic or social evening Food is fabulous , bar is well stocked , staff is friendly Lots of tables in the patio with fireplaces , in the heart of downtown San Jose Perfect place for a evening hangout or a afternoon of sushi Definitely adding this place to my shortlist for social events
Place was amazing. Food came out fast. Our server Sheamirz was the BEST
Had a great time! Loved the food and atmosphere and our amazing server Vons made the experience even better :)
We were here for a work holiday party and I was impressed by the hospitality and quality of the food. Definitely will be back to check out dinner some time!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No cap, Vons was awesome — super friendly, hella attentive, and just made the whole meal way more chill and fun.
amazing place! ive been coming in for years and the service has always been so great. i usually go by myself but i used to come regularly and the owner would always start conversation w me and introduce me to new rolls! i just went and i forgot a very special book and someone literally chased me down to give it to me!!! great atmosphere, food and vibes… my favorite sushi spot by far. (THE ONLY thing is that it’s like a club on weekends so it’s kinda loud but you can always eat inside as well.)
Sushi Confidential in San Jose was amazing! The sushi was fresh and delicious, with great flavors and presentation was spectacular. Our server, Sheamir, was very friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The manager Roman, made us feel very welcomed and we think he is doing a great job at running the place. Great food and great service. I’ll definitely be back! Happy hour is the hour to go!
Our server was Sheamir and she was so nice. The food were also really good. We got the Golden Philly
Bailey was our server she was so kind! The food was amazing, great prices. Highly recommend going during happy hour !!
Still my favorite Sushi in San Jose!! Start with the Edamame Trio or Hawaiian Ahi Avocado. My personal favorite, the tempura avocado, it's ridiculously GOOD!!! The rolls are the thing you came for. Crazy combinations using super fresh fish. Some of my favorites are the "Cabo Conspiracy" (spicy crab, avocado, topped with sweet and sour, tempura crunch, jalapeño, habanero tobiko) or "Spy vs Spy" (shrimp tempura, crab, topped with spicy tuna, avocado, charred scallion sauce, bonito flakes)......DARN, now I want some! Great Happy Hour menus that has an early (3pm to 6pm) AND a late (10pm to 11:30pm) option! Check website for special menu/prices. For parking there are a few spots right in front of the store that are available but the parking garage next door gives you 90 minutes free parking.
Great place. Sheamir is a great server. Very helpful, attentive, and timely. Even better, she made our birthday boy feel special. Would come back again next time in the city. And s/o the runners cus they're on top of their game.
If you havent tried this place yet, youre missing out. Bailey was our waitress. She provided excellent customer service. Id definitely comeback.
Omg they had the best sushi selection! Charline was super helpful over the phone and answered all my questions about pricing. Friendly staff and even better sushi, made my lunch date in with wife easy.
Absolutely phenomenal experience! This sushi spot blew me away. Everything from the service to the freshness of the fish was top-tier. The staff was warm especially Sheamir, attentive, and genuinely cared about the experience. The rolls were creative, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor — I highly recommend the [Flamin Hot Cheetos Roll]. Even the miso soup and edamame were next level. You can tell they put love into every detail. I’ll definitely be coming back — this place is a hidden gem that deserves all the love!
Sheamir was the best server we could have asked for! She created a very welcoming and fun environment providing us with fan favorite picks and making us feel like part of the family. First time here and will be coming back soon.
Luckily it wasn’t busy for my lady and I to have a pretty quick lunch today. We sat on the back patio to enjoy a gorgeous day so we had the bartenders as servers… both guys were a little preoccupied with entertaining a couple ladies so it took longer than we would’ve liked to get water/take our order. But, other than that everything was great from their service to the food being amazing and just a great lunch was had!
Was very satisfied that the happy hour options had a lot of variety and the food was very delicious! Vons was very helpful and was super attentive to our table. 100% would come back again for another sharks game!
Sushi Confidential absolutely lives up to the hype! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was fun, welcoming, and energetic without being overwhelming. Our host, Vons, was fantastic—super friendly, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable right away, which really set the tone for the whole experience. The service was impressively quick, and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Philadelphia Roll and the RSW Roll, and both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The fish tasted high-quality, the rice was perfectly seasoned, and the portions were generous. Everything came out fast without feeling rushed, which I really appreciated. Overall, great environment, excellent service, and delicious sushi. This is the kind of place you can come for a casual night out or bring friends from out of town and know it’ll be a hit. Definitely a 5-star experience—I’ll be back soon! 🍣👏
We had a great experience! Marco was exceptional! He was very attentive to our table and even recommended really good rolls (Geisha and Shishito rolls). I highly recommend coming to see him! Very friendly and welcoming. Needless to say, we will be coming back to visit him and try more rolls. One of my favorite sushi spots in SJ.
Bailey was the best, she was very attentive, told us about all the happy hours and recommendations. Her vibe overall was also so welcoming and fun. Drinks and food were amazing and with good prices. 10/10! I’m coming again :) THANK YOU BAILEY!
Melissa P is absolutely amazing! Every time I come to Sushi Con, she makes the experience so enjoyable. She’s incredibly attentive, always checking in with a smile, and makes sure everything comes out perfectly. Her energy is positive, friendly, and genuine, even when the restaurant is busy, she goes out of her way to make you feel taken care of. The food is always fresh and delicious, but Melissa’s service really takes it to the next level. Sushi Con is lucky to have her, I’ll definitely keep coming back because of her great service and attitude!
Incredible sushi, amazing customer service. I ordered the geisha roll and it was the perfect balance of spicy, savory and tart. The chef gave me free tuna nigiri because I mentioned I was a tuna fan. It had truffle oil and mushrooms and was so fresh and flavorful. Will be back 10/10
Me and some coworkers went here today for a late lunch/early dinner and had the best experience. Leroy was the best bartender ever!!! Extremely attentive and even fixed our temporarily wobbly table. Sheamir was an absolutely wonderful manager who made sure we always had everything we needed. I highly recommend the hot Cheeto roll!!!! So fun and delicious. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!
This place is amazing! Great location, great food great atmosphere. I sat in the back area with the couch and fire pits at the bar it was beautiful. Very good spot for meetings with friends or something more romantic. The food was great!!!! Avocado tempura changed my life and good sauces to go with it.
I was here for my friend's birthday party. We reserved this place for dinner. The server was very helpful, she took very good care of us throughout, making sure we all were taken care of with our food choices. We had pre-ordered for fish lovers, vegan and vegetarian folks. We had brought cake from outside which the server brought after we finished eating sushi. The table was well organized and decorated for our birthday friends. I enjoyed every bit of it. I definitely recommend this place and will visit again.
Got there during happy hour. The service was great. Some of the sushi was hit or miss. There was a hot cheetos sushi which the ingredients make sense. Hot cheetos with cream cheese to cool down the heat if you think it's too hot but it was okay. Nothing to write home about. The other was okay. Hot sake was on the happy hour menu so that was dope. Also happy hour happens until it closes. I don't know when it starts.
The vegetarian sushi rolls are amazing. We ordered the snitch and it was very tasty! Miriam was an amazing server.
It was ok as a sushi place. The good first. The waitress was Uber nice. The place is trendy. The parking was validated so parking lot next door made it easy. The meh part was the food was just ok. The other thing is there place is really cold, more than most sushi places we have been. Overall solid 4 star.
I came during happy hour. It was cool and lowkey. My bill came out to $65, which isn’t terrible but it was a bit on the pricey side for happy hour. Service was good and drinks were made well. Would return just would probably avoid the salmon nigiri. Rainbow roll was great though. Good music as well!
Leandro and Bailey were awesome and we loved celebrating our friend’s bachelorette with them! Vons was also awesome when they weren’t available!
Good food, cool place. We came in the street entrance instead of through the patio. There was no hostess station or anyone to greet us. We just walked around confused until we found a table and sat down. No one said anything or greeted us. They got busy quickly and our server was nice, but slow. I had ordered a drink after we order the food. But the food came out so quickly and we ended up finishing our food before the drink even got made at the bar, so we canceled it. I would've liked to have tried it, drinks looked tasty and creative. The vegatarian rolls were awesome. Very cool atmosphere
Good service and atmosphere. Food is good. Leonardo and Vons, Bailey were great servers.
We went for their happy hour Sundays and it was really fun. It didn't get crowded until after 8pm. No stars for food because we didn't order any. We just ordered drinks. Good drinks for reasonable prices. They also have hookah service so you can also do that if you are seated. The seating couches are a bit stained so cleanliness is questionable. Besides that, the vibe is great and the dj played awesome songs.
Place is nice just not my jam. I'm almost 40. Felt like a loser hanging out with young people. my buddy Christian really liked Bailey our server so that was plus. She was very nice and professional.
Good food and service. We tried a Geisha roll, salmon sashimi mango salad and salmon over donburi. The roll was perfect and the other dishes were good. Mango bits were too small to easily handle with chopsticks. But the dressing was great. Unfortunately we sat inside near the sushi bar and it was way too cold. The back has an outdoor feel and heaters, so that will be where we sit next time.
Finally made it for a late night happy hour. The sushi isn't good, the drinks aren't good, the service isn't good.... I mean nothing went terribly wrong so best I can describe this place is "not bad". It's a fun vibe I guess? Sitting by the fire was nice but at the same time I couldn't put my drinks anywhere without it getting warm. Food: 5/10 Vibes: 7/10 Service: 5/10 Value: 4/10
Came for dinner and drinks after a work event. We had a large group and showed up about 30 min early for our reservation. They already had our table and gave us the option if indoor or out door. We took the patio and took advantage of the perfect evening weather. The servers were nice but we had a few mishaps. Few people got Sake Bombs spilled on them when he dropped a tray. Several food and drink mix ups. But everybody enjoyed their meals. Happy Hour was legit.
Although most dishes were great our evening started off on the wrong foot and tainted my whole experience. I had been craving nigiris for the longest time and chose to try this restaurant because of their menu. While ordering, the waiter told me that they could only sell me nigiris 2 at a time, not 5 like our menus clearly specified. This really affected my overall experience and while I understand restaurants change their menu, they should either reprint or honor what it clearly says. As for the rest of the food, it was honestly delicious. I would very strongly recommend the following: - Sssticky Cauliflower Poppers: warm, tangy and delicious! - Tuna Truffle Sashimi: Absolutely amazing, could eat this non-stop! - Philly roll: Quite good! Nothing special as this is something you can get at almost any sushi place, but very tasty. I wouldn't recommend either the "Surf's Up" roll nor the pineapple sake, they are both underwhelming.
Food: 3.5/5 -The jalapeño hamachi (and sauce) was quite good. The sashimi tasted decently fresh. However the rolls didn’t quite hit the mark with freshness for me. Given the price, I expected more in terms of quality. Service: 4/5 -Overall good service & kind waitstaff, but weren’t as attentive to refills. Good ambiance, vibes and big space, especially on the patio. Super central location on San Pedro. Unfortunately, it misses the mark for me to consider this a “regular go to”.
Good sushi. Horrible service. Our server got our drink order, then took an extended break, not letting us know or having coverage to take care of her tables. I fully support breaks but have a plan to take care of your customers. Had to place our order at the bar after waiting 20 minutes and then accepting she just wasn’t coming to check on us, refill drinks, or take our order. Then, when she came back at the end of the meal to give us our bill (after we went to the bar again to ask for it after waiting a long time) she said “You can tip or not. I don’t care. I have to split it with everyone else who works here and I’m the only one who works, they don’t”. Perhaps she’s not cut out to be a customer-facing type of employee.
Rather disappointing experience overall. Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ central and nice area Comfort: ⭐⭐⭐ it was pretty cold outside but overall survivable Freshness of the fish:⭐ the quality of the rolls was definitely not in line with the considerable prices. The fish was not super fresh. Service: ⭐ I really dislike that you get charged an 18% service charge before the end of the dinner. So you actually don't choose how much to tip. The service was also really underwhelming for a number of reason. Price: ⭐⭐ $100 for 4 rolls, an appetizer and a drink. Pretty high for the area and absolutely not in line with the mediocre quality of the fish.
Mediocre. Sushi was edible but nothing special. Weird to include imitation crab in this $28 "premium" combo. The chicken skewers are deep fried so dry that it stuck to the skewer (and my teeth, still, an hour later). It's also servd on top of this bed of fried once-puffy noodle(?) and slathered with two unidentifiable sauces.
8/26/20 dinner outside with wife on the closed-to-traffic street due to COVID. 18% tip automatically added to bill! not worth the tip. Slow service, about 35 minute wait for food. Chirashi $29.50 was good quality, but not much quantity. Sashimi salad was average, and not enough dressing. Had to call them on the phone! to get service to request more dressing, but they said server wasn’t available to come out, and that we had to come in to the front to request it! I go to lots of sushi places, but I prefer lots of other ones instead of this one.
The service here was shockingly bad. We got there at 5pm and there were only about 2-3 other tables. It took a while before we were even approached. After that, it took an average of 15 minutes to get each round of drinks we ordered. Keep in mind that the place was EMPTY! In most cases, we could see the drinks sitting at the bar, but nobody delivered them. It wasn’t even totally obvious who our server was because she barely came around and we had to ask for things from the food runners. We waited so long for our last round of drinks that I had to actually chug my cocktail because we had to leave. It wasn’t even what I ordered. I asked for the same thing as before but the new drink came in different glassware and tasted different than the first. Our “server” didn’t even bring a pen, so she had to leave in the middle of taking our order to go get a pen and paper, and we had to reorder all over again. I’ll never go back here. It’s probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced in the Bay Area. For how expensive it is, it was not even worth it.
While most things around San Pedro market are expensive, this place not only has high prices but lacks in quality. We ordered their "signature cocktails" for $15 a cup. Each was filled with a lot of ice and VERY little alcohol, to the point where they tasted watered down. The sushi platters are $20+ each. They had decent flavor but they didn't taste amazing. The worst part was the service. They not only forgot one of our drinks (which in the end we were grateful for), but never came to check in on us when the restaurant wasn't that crowded to begin with. I will say that they do have very quaint dining sets for each person, but the food and drink quality needs improvement. I also do enjoy their outdoor dining space.
No one was available to take our order, so we had to wait for at least 20 minutes to find someone. I ordered donburi, but they seemed unfamiliar with it. I considered leaving at that point. When the food arrived, it was unlike any donburi I know – a mix of cold, old rice, seaweed, thin and dry fried chicken strips that were challenging to chew, accompanied by teriyaki sauce in a separate container. The food took about 40 minutes, and the beer arrived even later. Unfortunately, the meal caused digestive problems. They never gave us water either.
I ordered the Chirashi Sushi, this is legit the worst chirashi I’ve ever had. The wait for our food was super long . 50min. I see that the other table that came late already got food before us, and we had them check on our order not once, but TWICE! The fish was not fresh, the presentation for a $32 chirashi looked like garage. Have you seen a scallop being cut like this? Do not recommend and will not return.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR NYE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF - party was advertised to have sushi and complementary champagne toast, it was a lie: sushi stopped being served at 9pm and champagne was only for the reservation tables that already costed $700. Party was advertised for 30+, we expected music for an older crowd, it was shitty random tunes that weren’t fit for 30+ crowd. DO NOT GO HERE FOR NYE
Sat in line for 20 minutes. Line behind us line in front. One of the servers was able to tell us there's no room unless you made a reservation.
The Server Didn't Know What He Was Doing. When He Got The Manager. She Was Worse. Rude,Didn't Read The Coupon We Had.And Was Rude To My Sister. They Never Came Back To See If We Needed Anything .. It Took Forever To Get The Check.. I Use To Work In The Restaurant Business... So I Know How Hard It Can Be..But The Manager Was So Rude I Couldn't Believe It..AND She Looked Like She Should Be At The Gym Not Being A Manager. She Was Wearing Short Short Gym Shorts...And A Tank Top Like She Was At The Beach...So Unprofessional. I Will Never Go Back Again...The Worst Experience Ever.
I dined here with my wife for Valentine's Day. The sushi was OK for the most part, but definitely overpriced for the quality and quantity. There are definitely much better restaurants in the area and over the bay, most of the times for a cheaper price. Service has been poor, with server forgetting part of the order, food taking 45min to come to the table after various requests, and appetizers coming after main courses. Definitely a restaurant to avoid if you you are looking for a dining experience that is commensurate to the price.
