We went out to eat dinner on a Wednesday and it was a 10 minute wait for a table. The atmosphere was very lively and the restaurant is beautiful inside. Our waiter was attentive and other staff were friendly. We ordered the chili oil wontons, braised pork belly dry noodle and braised beef noodle soup. The food came in 15 minutes! Everything was great except the chili oil wontons weren’t spicy. The braised beef noodle soup that was supposed to be spicy wasn’t either. It looked spicy but it didn’t really feel like much on your tongue. We also tried the sauce jar on the table but it wasn’t spicy either. I’d like to see the restaurant include more spice levels and options to their customers!

Order on the phone via QR code and food arrives in minutes. Fresh pulled noodles made a great meal. Nice spicy flavor with table side vinegar, soy and chili oil are a must. Second time did not disappoint and will be back for more

Oh my gosh where have you been this whole time!? Finally don’t need to go to the Bay Area anymore for some AWESOME hand pulled noodles. My wife and I stopped by for lunch as we were shopping in SLO. For appetizers We got the cucumber garlic & the « dry tofu » (forgot the traditional name but it’s that appetizer of tofu curd noodles with cilantro, carrots, cumin) numbing spicy pork and I got the braised pork. We tried both the flat and round noodles. We inhaled our food it was so good. Loved every bits of it. The pork was super well seasoned, the pork belly was braised belly was cooked to perfection. The noodles were awesome. We will definitely be back. Please open a venue in Paso Robles next ! We need better noodles ! :-)

Amazing quality and loved being able to watch them make the noodles! It’s so nice to have a reasonably priced new restaurant in slo when it feels like everything else is so expensive for food that’s just so-so. This was the exact opposite! And the service was very friendly and experienced, especially given how they just opened not long ago. Will definitely be going back!

I visited this restaurant on the first day after hearing a friend’s recommendation, and I’m so glad I did! The noodles were absolutely delicious — you can tell the owner puts a lot of care into crafting the broth and preparing the noodles. The flavor was incredibly authentic, giving me a comforting, homey feeling. The portion sizes were very generous, and the meat was perfectly tender and cooked to perfection. Every one of us was extremely satisfied with our dishes. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hearty and authentic meal!

Finally some authentic and amazing Chinese food in SLO! The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the service was excellent. I'm looking forward to supporting them and hope that the community will as well. My 6 year old son thoroughly enjoyed their food and encouraged me to write this review for them.

Second visit in one week. The food is so fresh, the flavors blend so well, and the meat is very tender. You can tell everything is made with love. The service is very fast, and the wait for food is under 10 minutes, even with a full dining area. If you sit at the bar area, you will have front row seats to the magic behind the noodle making. Shake Shake is legit and a new downtown favorite.

Best noodles I've had in California after tasting all the best ramen / hand pulled noodle place across south cal and nor cal. The restaurant environment is elegant and warm, and most importantly you can see the noodles being made in front your eyes with the freshiest chewiest dough. They specialize in noodles and you can see all the work and efforts poured into the texture of the noodles, the quality of braised lamb and beef, and the real bone soup. What a secret gem in SLO cal!

Noodle was made fresh on the spot and the texture is al dente. The spicy flat noodle is so delicious, a must try dish. I also love their beef noodle soup. My super favorite dish was the spicy & sour goat meat soup. The owners, Vivian & Ivan, are very attentive & courteous. Their employees were happy & smiling all times. Overall, the restaurant provides great ambiance & delicious foods. Highly recommended if you are in San Luis Obispo area!👍🏻

Full Of Flavor!! My new favorite in town! The owner greeted us and took our order she was so nice and let me sample the broth before I ordered which was a first ever for me. Everything complemented each other and the service was like eating at a friend’s house.

Finally, a good, authentic Chinese noodle restaurant in San Luis Obispo! Service was fast and efficient. You can scan the app on the table to order, or just ask the waiter for help. We had the pork belly flat noodles, garlic oil flat noodles with ground pork, and the garlic cucumber. The food came out in under 10 minutes, and everything was very good. The noodles are hand-pulled—super bouncy and delicious. We came twice, for both lunch and dinner. The line can get long on weekends, but they have plenty of seating inside and outside. Parking nearby is not easy to find.

Authentic Lanzhou Lamian pulled, twisted, and flung, right before your very [Occidental] eyes, in downtown SLO? Absolutely! Watch Master Noodle makers fling noodles almost into your hungry mouth! Oh Yes please! Authentic Yummy Hui Muslim Chinese food in SLO? Oh so GOOD! Impossible? Not any more… I don't Lie about Lamian.... I watched them fling the ingredients together... Beef Rib, Fresh handmade Flat Noodle, Broth, & Bok Choy...and then I flung it into my hungry mouth. It was beyond good...it was near a cosmic orgasmic titulating culinary climactic experience! As a longtime culinary expert, with Chinese in-laws, the food here is beyond reproach....and is lightyears beyond the Americanized Chinese eats typical on the Central Coast. It is as if, a little piece of old SLO Chinatown was resurrected via a time warp. Thank You! 谢谢 Xièxiè ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FINE DETAILs..... Shake Shake Fresh Noodle has handpulled Noodle Masters weaving amazing flat noodles right before your very eyes! Direct from cold Northern China to please your palate & warm your tummy in SLO. WOW, authentic Chinese food in SLO! Who knew? SHAKE SHAKE is in Downtown SLO, in the Creamery building. It is a must! After watching carefully, and then eating carefully, then one may qualify as a Master Authentic Chinese Noodle Eater.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LAMIAN & the HUI MUSLIM CHINESE= ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some background information for the Occidentals.... The cuisine of Northwestern China, particularly from the provinces of Gansu, Shaanxi, and Xinjiang, is known for making fresh hand-pulled noodles, or lamian, often in front of customers. These regions also feature a variety of rich meat dishes, primarily beef and lamb, influenced by their large Hui Muslim and Uyghur populations. Hand-pulled noodles (lamian) The preparation of lamian is a spectacle in itself, where a noodle master twists, stretches, and folds a lump of wheat flour dough into long, perfectly even strands in a matter of seconds. Key characteristics: Origin: The modern, popular form of lamian originated in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province, and was refined by a Hui Muslim vendor in the 19th century. Regional spread: Hui Muslim families from this area operate many of the lamian restaurants found throughout China. Signature dish: Lanzhou beef noodle soup This dish follows a "five-color" formula: clear beef broth, golden noodles, white radish, green cilantro, and red chili oil. Halal tradition: Due to its Hui origins, lamian is traditionally served with halal-prepared meat, like beef or mutton. Most important of all.... Hand-pulled noodle eating is endorsed and approved by Paul. JK.

Ate here back in August and finally getting around to reviewing. The noodles and rib are super delicious and tender. I really enjoyed the dumplings though. The owner came by and was incredibly kind and personable, almost treating each customer like family. When they had accidentally delivered my dumplings to someone else, she was beyond apologetic and even comped them for me. Wonderful experience.

It was so amazing, every bite was mouth watering. We LOVED the Chili Oil Flat Noodle with Beef Rib, The House Special Beef Bone Noodle, and The Braised Pork Belly Noodles. TO DIE FOR! P.S. we got our order within quite literally 2 minutes. Some of the FASTEST and BEST service I’ve ever had to date. This place is doing EVERYTHING right!

The portions are generous, the owner came by and introduced herself as Viví, what a wonderful young and hard working person she is. A Family atmosphere and we felt at home immediately. The food was served in no time and my beef noodle soup was fantastic. We have brought over all of our grown kids and they love it as well. It has become one of our favorite places in the central coast, we live in Paso but it’s worth the drive.

Wow…just wow!! We started out with some cucumber and wonton appetizers and they were bangers. Amazing portion size too. Then I had the flat noodle beef rib with chili oil and oh my gosh…phenomenal. It’s only been three hours and I’m already dreaming about the next time I can get more. Vivi, the owner, was the sweetest ever and so much fun to talk to. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Incredible customer service and food. The quality of ingredients and flavors are second to none for 805 asian cuisine. The owner Vivi was an absolute pleasure to meet. Support small business and restaurants in Slo to prevent big box chains from ruining that 805 spirit.

Great amazing service, they were about to close for lunch and they still welcomed us in and served us what we order which by the way the food was amazing! Every thing was delicious even our picky little eater said it was delicious! I would drive back again just to have this food. 100/10

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely phenomenal! Shake Shake Noodles is hands down one of the best hand-pulled noodle spots I’ve ever tried. The spicy wontons were to die for-so good I had to order a second serving! The braised pork belly was incredibly tender and melted in my mouth, and the noodles had the perfect bounce and chewiness that shows real skill. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully made. Immaculate vibes and amazing food I highly recommend!

Came in and was seated immediately with a warm welcoming. Within seconds brought water as a starting beverage. To be honest the water was all you need for a beverage… besides a beer. Water tasted soooo refreshing I kid you not. Not that tap water from the sink stuff. The noodles were amazing. Good flavoring and they also had seasonings on the side to adjust your taste. Noodles were fresh you were able to see the gentleman swinging and spinning them like a little show during your visit. The pork dumplings were steamy and just rich in flavor can’t go wrong with that. 100% recommended, not that Panda Express stuff. Real enjoyable and delicious food.

We’ve walked by this place a dozen times on our way to nearby restaurants and never tried it out. Maybe the name wasn’t enticing us enough to try it out, the name sounds a bit goofy. On a rainy day yesterday we tried it out. Well, it was a very pleasant surprise. Nothing like great hot food on a cold rainy day. Nicely redone interior (this location has been many other recent restaurant attempts). Very friendly greeting and immediate seating for our larger party of 6. Nice family friendly environment. Wonderful food aromas sure prepared us for a delicious meal. We stayed with dumplings sand wontons which very tender and tasty. Our meal choices were about half noodles and half soups (but or course the soups had noodles too). My lamb and tofu with Sichuan spices was excellent and had a very unique aromatic aftertaste, wonderful. Friendly and attentive service. As a bonus we watched the chefs make the noodles from scratch stretching and pulling a single lump into flat or round noodles in moments and the tossed immediately into the boiling kettle for a few seconds to then be served. Best fresh noodles I’ve had outside Shanghai. Reasonable prices and good hefty portions. Highly recommended. We’ll be back.

We came in as a big party, but the staff was nice to make sure we were ok with the accommodations first before setting up the seating area. Most of the party got the house special beef rib noodle. It came with a large piece off beef ribs, which was very soft and tender. They also provided scissors to help cut up the beef. There is a choice between the two types of noodle, round or flat. The soup itself was flavorful, but adding some chili oil made it better. The noodles was a bit too soft. Parking lot was small for the and 9street parking is probably the best bet.

One of my favorite spots in SLO! They are fairly new but honestly, love their energy and food! You can tell that these dishes are made fresh with love. The flavoring was excellent and I truly enjoyed my time and meal! You walk in and they are friendly to seat you. You then order via phone (paper menu available too) and pick what you want! Have questions or recommendations? Staff are more than happy to share their experience and talk through each dish! You then have the team pulling fresh noodle and the dishes come out fast! Truly an experience! We got the dry noodle: regular chili oil flat noodle with added pork belly, chili oil wontons, pork & cabbage boiled dumplings, and dry braised pork belly noodles. We also got some house special marinated daikon which are a must!!!!!! And some chili oil potato salad! Everything tasted so fresh and good! The pork belly was so tender and delicious! Noodles are fresh! And if they are too long, they have scissors for you to cut and mix. Vivi gave a special tip to add in some vinegar to the noodles and that was so good too! My absolute favorite were the chili oil wontons!!!! Such a great menu item. Honestly, loved it all and highly recommend!

We've been wanting to try this place since it opened, and we finally had the chance today. It has 1000% lived up to the hype!! We started with the cucumber salad, which was a little expensive at 8 or 9 bucks, but it was a shareable plate, and the flavor was lovely. For entrees, we got the lamb stew with round noodles and the braised pork belly with flat noodles. They were both nothing short of amazing. I'm a big texture person, so I'm not always that into pork belly; this was some of the best pork belly I've ever had. The meaty pieces were tender, and the fatty pieces just melted in your mouth. Not a single chewy piece! The lamb was delicious, and I think I preferred it between the two, but they were both so good that I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. The marinated egg in the pork belly was so yummy that we ordered another egg on the side. If you can't tell from my rambling, we loved this place, and we already can't wait to go back.

5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had such a great experience at Shake Shake Fresh Noodle in SLO! I ordered the chili oil flat noodles with the beef bone, and wow — the flavor was incredible. I’m usually sensitive to spicy foods, but this dish had the perfect balance of heat and richness. It was so flavorful without being overwhelming, and the noodles had an amazing texture. The service was just as impressive. My food came out so fast, and every staff member I interacted with was kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. You can really feel the care they put into both the food and the customer experience. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in San Luis Obispo — especially if you’re craving something comforting, tasty, and made with love. I’ll definitely be back!

Shake Shake Fresh Noodle Review As a business owner in SLO, a lot of customers have been asking for my opinion on Shake Shake Fresh Noodle. I tried a couple of weeks after Grand Opening, to give the owners some time to hone in their systems. Went to Shake Shake twice in last 24 hours, both Friday (4/25) and Saturday night (4/26). With both their inside and outdoor dining area, they were seating 80-100 customers per hour. About 15 people ahead on waitlist, but our wait time was about 20 minutes both days. Very efficient. Happy to see them doing well their first month. Dishes our tables ordered over the past 2 days: APPS: 1. Chili Potato Salad $9 - Surprisingly good and refreshing. Sichuan oil & blanched julienned potato. Slight crunch. Loved the texture, would order again. 2. House Beef Roll $13 - Cold cut Beef wrapped in Cong You Bing scalllion pancake w oyster sauce and cucumber. Surprised that the pancake was a cold dish. 3. Beef Onion Dumplings $17 - Standard. Doesn’t seem to be handmade, just frozen. Would rather get an entree for $17, as they’re just boiled, not pan fried. DRY NOODLES: 1. Numbing Spicy Minced Pork Noodle $18 - Not very spicy at all, had to add a couple tablespoons of chili oil to make it spicy enough for me. Slight numbing from Sichuan peppercorn oil. Not overpowering, very approachable for SLO. Julienned cucumbers add a layer of freshness. 2. Braised Pork Belly Noodle $18 - Solid option for braised pork belly in SLO. Doesn’t come advertised as spicy, so you’ll need to add a lot of chili oil. Don’t let the portion size fool you. Decent amount of pork belly, the fat combined with the chili oil fills you up well. 3. Chili Oil Flat Noodle w/ Beef Bone $22 - Favorite dish there. Absolutely loaded with crispy garlic and scallions. Would order again. Beef bone is spectacular. SOUPS: 1. House Special Beef Bone Noodle (spicy) $21 2. House Special Beef Bone Noodle (not spicy) $21 - Beef bone is the star. Slides off bone, but the braise time still maintains an appropriate level of collagen for some bite. Not overcooked. Broth is not the most flavorful I’ve had. Definitely not as flavorful as a Taiwanese Niu Rou Mian. But you’re getting the dish for the hand pulled flat noodles and the huge Beef Bone, not for the broth. TAKEAWAYS: 1. Definitely recommend the flat noodles over the round. You can see the chef pulling by hand the long flat noodles every 10-15 minutes in front of you. They have a really good bite. 2. Spice level is very mild here. I believe they adjusted their seasonings since Grand Opening in response to google reviews. I didn’t find the flavor in itself lacking, but simply tempered in respect to spice. 3. I believe they intentionally don’t oversalt or overspice their food. It would help to add a small 4x6 sign on each table, but you are freely able to add your own tableside chili oil spice to every dish, to adjust heat level to your preference. Which I believe is adjusted and intentional for the target demographic palette here in SLO. I chatted with both owners at the end of the night tonight and heard their background. They own a restaurant in the Bay and are excited to start a new venture here in SLO. Definitely want them to do well, and told them I will be leaving a google review. Will be returning again soon. Maybe 3 days in a row?

I’m obsessed with these noodles! We showed up right when they opened, but the food came out fresh, ready, and super fast—no waiting around at all. The appetizers were incredibly fresh and hit the spot. They’re super fresh and have that perfect bouncy chew—I couldn’t stop watching the hand-pulling and even snapped a quick video. Vivi, the owner, is the sweetest, greeting everyone like family right when you walk in. It’s such a welcoming, kid-friendly spot with speedy service that’s perfect for a busy day out with the little ones—as an Asian mom, I really appreciate that! The beef ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender, falling right off the bone in a rich broth, those flat noodles were unreal, the pork dumplings had the kids grinning ear to ear, the lamb was packed with flavor, and the pork belly? So juicy and tasty. Everything hit just right.Love how clean and cozy it is, easy walk from the main street too. Portions and prices were spot on for our group—total steal. I am writing this review as I sit in the restaurant. This was a “follow your nose“ situation. I smelt the food and found the restaurant afterwards thanks to my salivating taste buds and scents of direction (haha). It’s a good thing I don’t live in the state because I would be here every other day. I got the Szechuan tofu soup, and my dinner mate got the chili noodles with braised beef. One bite each and we were floored!!! As an appetizer, we had the potato salad, which was amazing and unlike what you’d think (thin sliced and tossed in Szechuan chili). The soup was so amazing — I don’t really even have words. Perfect Szechuan spice, amazing egg, noodles: blew my hair back! You can see the staff hand-pulling the noodles which is very impressive! All I can say is come here as soon as you can.

Great spot for Chinese eats. The noodles are made fresh, and you can even watch the chef hand-pull them in the open kitchen. The staff were all very friendly, and the service was prompt. I also appreciated the high ceilings, which give the space a bright, open atmosphere. I highly recommend the House Special Soup. While I personally found it slightly lacking in aromatics, the broth still had great flavor. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked, and the noodles were wonderfully springy. I’ll definitely be coming back.

TLDR; Shake Shake Fresh Noodle is the best hand pulled Chinese noodle restaurant in not just San Luis Obispo, but San Luis Obispo county. You’d have to drive a few hours to find anything close. Service is just as good as the food (simply excellent), and their prices are fair.

The food was pretty good but service was a bit disappointing. Ordered the beef & onion dumplings and beef bone soup but the system they have for ordering through a qr code and how they bring it to you needs some work. Half of the orders at my table were incorrect and even after double checking with the servers to get the correct dish brought out we would still receive another incorrect item. Hopefully they get things sorted out, would like to come back to try again.

Very nice noodle place. Broth (soup) is flavorful, and serice is quick. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Only thing I would suggest is to make noodle more al dente. Their noodle is cooked to more on the soft side. I might ask them if they can make my order more al dente.

This is a good inexpensive addition to the SLO food scene. I tried the braised beef noodle soup and it was hot, fresh and was prepared quickly. I like fresh noodles so next time I’ll try the wide type. The restaurant is clean and bright, and has a relaxed vibe, filled with students and residents. Great service.

First time eating here and it was really good! Don't usually go out to eat in the city but my friend let me know about this new place she had been meaning to try. Unfortunately, we go to the store right as it was going on it's midday break, so we couldn't dine in but they kindly offered to make a to-go order! The service was so fast, the man was very patient with us trying to decide what to get from the menu. The food came out so quickly, such a short wait. We ate at the tables nearby in the creamery. Since it was in to-go containers, the food got cold way quicker than if we ate inside, but we all still enjoyed the meal. The noodles are really good, the chili oil for the spicy house soup was delicious, giving the broth a good kick. The only downside was there wasn't any add ons in the bag, like lime or sauces. I'm not sure if they forgot to add it in the bag or if we had to ask for it but I didn't go back to ask since they had gone on the break. Will be coming again, hopefully to dine in!

I went to Cal Poly and explored the downtown. There are so many good restaurants around the town and it is close to Cal poly tech. I tried Shake Shake Fresh Noodles as Cal Poly’s students suggested. The noodles are delicious and fresh. I love the flat noodle. The fresh noodle soup with beef rib is the must try. You will like it. It is a big portion that 2 women can share.

This place is amazing ‼ We've come here since they've opened and it's a must do every time we are in SLO. Authentic handmade noodles, some dishes are Xian... made for royalty. The dishes are prepared well and are so delicious‼Service is great, they say us down promptly and we were a party of 6. Such a clean and organized place as well. The owner Bibi, was very kind and informative and even brought us an appetizer on the house. We will come back most definitely ‼. This place is 曉得了‼‼

This noodle house is slightly pricier than a Chinese restaurant, but the meat quality is excellent and flavorful. We tried a few dishes on our first visit with friends. Our dining experience was very good. The beef rib noodle soup was a highlight. It was fresh and had high-quality meat with a bone. It was super tasty, you must try it. It is something you cannot get at other places, especially in SLO. One suggestion is that the menu items should include a description of what ingredients are included in the dish. For example, the House beef roll contained too much cilantro. It was not to my husband’s liking. Other than that everything we tried was delicious.

Came here twice. The first time during opening week and the food was really good. The flavours were balanced if only a little salty and the soup was nicely spiced. This time, I came about a month after opening (and at 5pm when the kitchen opens if that makes a difference), and the food was not good. Both soups had only one flavour and were very salty. The tomato soup was way too thick, almost like a minestrone soup rather than a a tomato noodle soup. I didn’t want to finish my food which was disappointing for a $19 dish before tax and tip. I was really excited for a new asian food spot in SLO, and really hope they can improve their consistency
