So glad we stopped here!! We always stop somewhere on our way back to Houston from New Braunfels. We have eaten so many disappointing meals, but this place was great!! We came in a Sunday around 5:30 pm, and were immediately seated at a scenic spot on the patio. Had so much fun watching everyone enjoying the river below. Our waiter John was very attentive and gave great recommendations. All the food was amazing. We had the brisket nachos, the smash burger and the pork belly sandwich. Beer prices were also reasonable. Will definitely be stopping here again.

This was our 2nd visit to Ivar's this month!Our grandson conquered the Chicken Fried Steak meal, I had the bacon jam burger and mac & cheese, my husband had a speciality burger. All were top-notch!! The Long Island Tea special hit the spot on that muggy afternoon as well. For it being the 4th of July--we were plenty surprised at both the meal & service. Those employees ran their tail off all weekend, and did it with a smile! Almost forgot to mention that the view of the river & tubers enjoying it gave us some entertainment, and was enough to convince us to go buy some tubes for ourselves to check it out!!! Looking forward to going there again!

Great setting on the water. Perfect for a first date. My pork sliders were great. Chips not that good though. Service was terrible. Probably someone's first day. Didn't ruin my date though! Was super nice being on the water.

Great spot to enjoy some good food and drinks with a beautiful view of the falls. If you’re lucky, a group of kayakers will come by and you can watch them each flip trying to navigate the rapids. On-site parking for patrons (lots of tubers around so parking lot security is tight), with friendly employees and fun surroundings

Tried Ivar’s during a recent trip, and…we loved it so much we brought friends back with us to experience it as well! This restaurant is located across from the Rio Vista Park (one of the most popular access points to the San Marcos River), which means you’ll have a beautiful view should you choose from their ample outdoor seating. There are multiple food options ranging from southern comfort food to more generic American options. We enjoyed a salad with grilled shrimp, as well as a blackened chicken rap. I also recommend the hydrilla drink if you’re looking for a refreshing, non-alcoholic signature drink. Don’t worry, if you’re looking for alternatives to that there’s definitely plenty of beer, wine, and cider options as well. The staff was friendly and super helpful. P.S Sorry for the lighting in the menu pictures! At night they have these blue lights on, which is the only thing I wasn’t really a fan of given that blue light bothers quite a few people’s eyesight.

Such a good vibe. Quick service, fantastic bartenders. Sitting at the bar is a GREAT time. We loved the goat cheese crostinis and the pub marg. The house bloody mary and their special drink, "The Willow" are all really good. Bacon jam burger is delicious, and the fries are great. It's fun to watch people swim outside, and if you need to wait then you can order drinks at the bar and hang out in the covered decks outside. Definitely give this place a try!

My daughter and I picked this local spot after a long car ride and lots of research taking her back to school. Ultimately chose Ivars after reading the reviews not because of the customers reviews, but because of the way the manager treated those reviewers, mentioning them by name. Just amazing. We sat on the patio cause I’m a sucker for a good view and was pleased to have heaters out there to keep us warm. Our waitress, Summer, was AMAZING! She was patient with my inability to choose “just one thing” and offered up some of her favorites. We got the pork cracklings, mac and cheese to try, my daughter had the shrimp pasta, and I had the pork belly bacon jam sandwich I had literally been dreaming about for 24 hours. Every bite was delicious! We will definitely be back!

Great place to hang out, excellent beers and excellent quality food. This is a pub with a restaurant quality food. The scenery by the water is awesome, the service even better. Highly recommend!

The food was pretty good and so was the service. I was pretty happy with my BBQ plate and the view is nice, but we went at night so it was a little hard to see the river. My biggest issue was the lack of parking. And to the gentleman that knowingly stole the parking spot you saw us waiting for…may you always have soggy fries, a hot pillow at night, a phone that never charges past 50%, and may you always choose the slowest drive-thru lane. ✌️

Beautiful scenery, it wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too cold. Today was overall a great day to be out on the patio getting food. First time here! My only complaint is the food didn’t seem to be fresh it seemed as it was leftovers , the temperature of the food seemed to be room temp. I was also disappointed in the queso and guacamole burger while the burger was very well seasoned the cook put so much guacamole it just over powered everything and just became too much.

I was craving a delicious burger that wasn't from a chain or fast food restaurant, so my friend and I decided to stop by this place. I'm glad we did because this burger was exactly what I was looking for. It was perfectly cooked, and the fresh lettuce and tomatoes, along with the cheese that was melted to perfection, really hit the spot. I wish I had remembered to add bacon. The service was a bit slow; we waited for a refill that never came. However, it was a busy Saturday and a holiday weekend. This restaurant is located right by the river, which adds to the foot traffic, and parking can be a nightmare. They do have a parking attendant to manage the vehicles, which we appreciated. I probably won't return until after the river tubing season is over.

Great location on the river. Wonderful view! I know, it's a great place to enjoy a drink, but the food lacked flavor. Definitely would recommend going and enjoying a drink by the river at this local place!

Ivar’s has an amazing view of the river and park and the atmosphere is great with live music too. There’s indoor and outdoor seating depending on your preference. The food is really good and we ordered a range of meals from burgers, blackened salmon, pulled pork tacos, kids meals and more. The food was good and tasty. The place was nice and clean too which is always a plus. The service was a little slow, but our server did check in on us which was nice. Parking is a problem with limited parking spaces available, but there was an attendant making sure we were set us and managing the lot. Overall a great place to hang out.

The food was fantastic! But it was overshadowed by the lack luster service. I had to multiple times get up and ask the hosts (Aniya) for things that my server should have been doing. I ordered the fried pickles and ATE a PIECE OF CARDBOARD that was lodged in the pickle. After letting my server Lydia and the manager Ruby know I was given a 50% discount instead of comping the appetizer fully. I know that my experience would have been better if the staff was more attentive and acted with care.

We saw a sign advertising this place. The atmosphere is nice but the food was mediocre. I loved looking out over the river but nothing was outstanding.

I am unable to rate the food experience as I never actually got to eat there. My boyfriend and I wanted to eat there as I remember eating here while in college and wanted him to experience it. When we entered there was a young hostess with long blonde hair(never got her name) she was off putting from the start. She didn't seem welcoming or make the place seem like somewhere I would want to eat, even asking me "are you sure you want to wait". I pushed past this because I wanted my boyfriend to experience this place and figured she could just be having an off night. She stated it would be about a 20 minute wait we said no problem and had a seat. I received a text via Toast that lets you know how many people are in front of you and how long your wait time is. While we were waiting there were 2 groups in front of us that quickly got sat. They went off the list and the toast list updated the numbers of people and time. However more people were coming in after us and getting sat. Large groups, and even small parties like us. However there was no one on the list in front of us. Both my boyfriend and myself have been in the customer service industry for years and are incredibly patient people. We gave them the benefit of the doubt but after this kept occuring asked the same girl that checked us in what was happening and how much longer. She didn't even finish her statement before dashing off but stated the table was being cleaned 5 more mins. We said ok thanks. Fast forward to 20 more mins and more people being sat still before us. I walked up to the counter to ask hey it's been 20 mins when you said 5 mins. The same girl with a smirk on her face said "who told you that". I couldn't believe she would blatantly lie to my face. At this point my patience was gone and it needed to be addressed, I asked for the manager. The manager was right next to her and the girl proceeded to get upset and run off crying. I would like to point off I didn't raise my voice I just asked for her manager. The manager and myself went outside to discuss this situation. Thank you Janelle I believe was your name. She listened and was helpful. When we came back in my boyfriend was defending me bc the girl was calling me names while I was outside. This hostess is clearly a bad representative for your front of house and this needs to be addressed asap. Wish we could have tried the food, but sadly didn't get to due to this terrible customer service shown by the worst hostess I have encountered in years.

Came here for our anniversary and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had. They refused to serve my husband a beer. Then it took forever just to get our drinks. We ordered an appetizer and our meals and waited 45 minutes with absolutely nothing coming out and no one checking on us. The waiter eventually admitted he forgot to even put our appetizer order in. When we finally told them we wanted to leave, they said we still had to pay. The second we asked for the food to go, it suddenly came out immediately, which made it pretty obvious it had been sitting there. No apology, no effort to make it right, and we still paid full price. My husband even left a $20 tip, and the server didn’t even bother bringing the food out himself. Completely unacceptable service, especially on what was supposed to be our anniversary dinner. We will not be back.
