This place is super cute. First off the check in woman is extremely amazing. We had a family emergency and had to leave just a couple hours after we got there and she was extremely helpful with that. She was lovely and gave us a paper with restaurants around which was helpful. There IS an elevator. I dont know what the post from 5 months ago is saying... It is old timey to keep it's charm but upgraded at the same time. Heated tiles. Yes! The jet tub was super nice looking. This place is extremely clean. I am a clean freak and will nit pick places to make sure they are clean. And this place had absolutely reached 5 star cleaning standards!!! The room was spacious and the balcony was nice. Cute fireplace. Super nice. I'm excited to come back and relax in yhe comfy looking robes! The cons : the tub area was pretty loud, not sure if it was the room next to us. The bed was extremely creaky, climbing on made a bunch of noise, and shifting yourself made a lot of noise. Also, the bed seemed comfy ( I only sat on it) but, it is super high. I'm 5'4" and I had a tough time getting on the bed. I had to climb up on it. The wood frame on the side hurt my leg getting down from it. I didn't see step stool, but I saw in another review they do have them . We will definitely be back to try and redo our second anniversary here. And will hopefully try out some of the spa space.
We found this wonderful Inn and Spa on a Google search. When we called to make the reservations, the service rep, David, was wonderful. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed, and everyone at the Inn was courteous and friendly. Breakfast on our first morning was simply fantastic. Molly, our server, was great, from welcome to our last bit. The food, let's just say, Everod's the best. I made a suggestion on my omelet for the next morning, he remembered and made it just as I suggested. The in is located in a very historic town, filled with do much hx. And there is so much to do. There's so much more that can be said, but I'll suggest you visit to experience for yourself. You will not be disappointed 🙂!!
Came here for dinner tonight and had a great experience! We enjoyed the spicy margaritas and crab cakes to start which were amazing. I had the salmon dinner which was flavorful and filling, and others in my party had the fish sandwich, scallop special, and the cod and there was nothing left to take home since we all enjoyed! The kiddos with us had the chicken tenders and Mac and cheese, as offered on the children’s menu. They were also able to accommodate them with plastic cups and lids as well as a picture and crayons for coloring.
My husband and I just enjoyed one of the best lunches! Our bartender Dave was 10/10! My husband had the shrimp scampi (I wasn’t able to have a bite because he ate it so fast!) and I had the chicken pot pie. Since I only had a taste of my meal :) I can only stress how delicious it was! Perfect for the up coming fall season. Our drinks were out of this world. We will 100% be back!! Atmosphere, service, drinks and food 10/10. Thank you Dave!
I got married here and it was one of the best and most beautiful and wonderful experiences. The coordinator, Kristen, went above and beyond. The food and the service from all staff was beyond amazing. I cannot recommend this venue/ inn enough. My guests absolutely loved it and had the best time ever. We will all be back.
Large party of 13 enjoyed Easter dinner. Service was superb. Always challenging with a large group on a busy holiday and our server was spectacular. All enjoyed dinner; salmon, ham, cod, leg of lamb. We had it all and it was delicious. So glad we were at Daniel Webster for this holiday gathering. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
We had a nice one night girls getaway at the Inn and Spa. Everything was very nice, spa services were amazing! The only disappointment was there was no longer dining available. Our package had included $50 towards dining, we were given a $15 coupon at a cafe 3/4 mile away.
Lovely spacious room. Bed extremely comfortable with 6 pillows between us. Bathroom roomy as well. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful. Big thank you to Fran who made quite a few phone calls to sort out our Whale watching trip. Unfortunately our mobiles were playing up with internal calls & she went above & beyond to help. Loved the town of Sandwich. Very traditional & a couple of good restaurants. Lovely end to our holiday.
We've stayed at the Dan'l Webster for many years and always enjoyed great meals, lovely ambiance, and great service. However, recently we've have been in need of their handicapped accessible room. The room itself was quite nice, as usual, but the bathroom lacked grab bars for getting in and out of a bathtub that had plenty of grab bars and safety features inside but had a very high (20") side to step over, making it very dangerous to enter or exit the tub. We brought this to the management's attention after leaving and they are now in the process of adding additional grab bars, making the room safer for anyone using it. Other than this, the hotel is very handicapped accessible and helpful in many regards, and we highly recommend it. Also, we've noticed that there's been very little staff turnover in the 15+ years we've been staying here - a very good sign of good management indeed!
My Mother and I stayed at The Daniel Webster Inn in 1986 it was a Mother Daughter vacation just the two of us, it was simply amazing beautiful room The food was exquisite. Everybody was so wonderful and polite, it just came to me I was thinking about it 38 years later. I will cherish the memories of my mom and I if I could give them 10 stars I would. 🙏🙏😊😊
Went for dinner and it was fabulous! Nice dining room overlooking the fountain. Had the cod with lobster and it was amazing. Other dishes at our table included chicken pot pie and salmon special. Forgot to take photos
We have always stopped for lunch here every time we visit the Cape for as long as I can remember. It never fails to deliver and still serves some of the best food on the Cape. Dawn is very knowledgeable and a fantastic server. She made our experience a lot of fun The menu is more limited as they are still adjusting after the kitchen fire but the French onion soup is still incredible. This restaurant never disappoints.
I had my wedding here about a month ago and I couldn’t be happier with the service we got! It was a beautiful venue and Kristi, Marla and Michelle were all very helpful, attentive, and made sure the day went smoothly. The food was also amazing, a lot of guests brought up to us that they loved their meals. The hotel rooms were also very nice and comfortable! Overall 10/10
I can’t sing enough praises about the food, cocktails, ambiance, and Molly our waitress! There were 19 of us high school girlfriends that gathered in a private, beautifully decorated, private room to gather for our annual holiday Christmas party and Yankee swap. The service all around was excellent. Molly was the best at making us feel at home and she was attentive to all our needs and dietary requests . She even took the time to gather us for a group picture. We had a great time thanks to the staff!
Ate lunch here today as we have many times through the years. The lobster chowder was delicious with several chunks of lobster. Also had the lobster sandwich which was on brioche bin. Absolutely
Large rooms with a rocking chair! Was excited to discover that this hotel land originally belonged to my Sandwich settler Nathaniel Fish in the 1600s and I had the privilege of staying there. The hotel itself feels a little musty and historic, but that fits with the era I suppose. Bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast was perhaps the best they can do without a kitchen but nowhere to sit.
This was our second visit to this lovely classic inn, in Sandwich on Cape Cod (close to the mainland). The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Price is a little high, though. The pool is lovely, but not deep or very big. The hot tub is not very hot and shallow. But it is quite beautiful. The breakfast is made to order, but is not really included in the room. What you get is a voucher that may or may not cover the cost for breakfast for one ($15). And basic beverages (coffee, tea, juice or milk) are extra as well. One of the days there was a buffet breakfast, which was $30 (+tax) per adult (basic coffee included, cappuccino extra). It was nice, but not really worth the cost. Dinner was very interesting, with quite a few unique dishes and quite delicious, but on the expensive side. One extremely disappointing thing: after last visit we got a promotional card with a significant amount on it, but we were told on this visit that they will not honor it because the inn is under new management.
The room was a bit dated and the heater was a little noisy. Apart from that it was all good. We had standard queen room. Good sized. Room with a table and a couple of wingback chairs. Bed was firm and comfy. The room and all common areas were very clean. All staff were friendly and professional. Food in the Tavern was top notch, had dinner and breakfast there, both were excellent. Hotel is in historic district, pretty older homes and easy walk to shops and restaurants. Only a mile away from Town Neck Beach and Tree House. We would definitely stay again.
Loved our stay here! Rooms are super cute. Good size. Very clean. No elevators in the building. Breakfast was my only complain. We are dairy free- gluten free and there was none of these options. All sweets and cupcakes and juices plus coffee were served. I guess we were hoping for just a couple more options. Nothing big or fancy but maybe a choice of nut milks and eggs.
Not the greatest hotel we've ever stayed at, but it is by no means the worst. It's a hotel that seems to be striving to be a four-star hotel but in reality it's a three... maybe a three-and-a-half. The website gives a feel of a Cape Cod version of The Woodstock (Vt.) Inn but that is not at all the case. The reality is that it's on the Cape and has no need to be better because people will still spend a fortune in the summer staying here. The rooms are nice, but they're dated (part of the point of this kind of historical hotel, I know) but not all the dated elements are positive. For instance, the jacuzzi room we booked held the world's noisiest jacuzzi -- perhaps tied with the one in the room next door. When that guest fired up their faucet to fill their tub, at seven in the morning, it sounded like a freight train running through our room. The primary noise is from filling things up but nothing can prepare you for the noise. It's truly amazing, just not in a good way. The tub is a nice feature, but to truly relax you'll need ear plugs. Who knows, maybe it's the hot water lines in general. Similarly, the showers are large enough to accommodate two people, yet it has just one astonishingly insignificant shower head. The one I have at home is nicer by far. The size of the stall would support a rain head shower or double heads. Instead it's little different from a $10 showerhead from Home Depot. The trees, that are intended to provide some privacy for the narrow balcony, were overgrown and the chairs visibly mildewed. It was too chilly to use them but it wasn't an option at all. Some significant issues, but on the other hand the bed was comfortable, the in-room seating sufficient, and the overall space generally good. It felt roomier than it had any right to be. [I also reviewed the restaurant -- the Tavern -- separately.] It was disappointing, as it was supposed to be a relaxing weekend and the Saturday failures left a poor impression. The spa was a definite bright spot, but I don't see much other reason to come back to the Inn the next time we find ourselves visiting the Cape. There are other places with spas that are more polished, with better service, and who can definitely accommodate a wedding and the regular guests ... and at a comparable price point to a nightly stay here.
The location is perfect - love Sandwich and the Inn is located in a nice village area. The service and staff were exceptional including the sweet woman working in the gift shop. My room was very clean but the room smelled like mildew. That was extremely disappointing, The Inn needs some updating. I have stayed here many times over the years with the previous owners. It is starting to look very run down and needs some serious updating.
The rooms are large and comfortable but the beds are rather strange. It appears the hotel ordered box spring and high mattresses and then decided to put them on a 4-poster bed. And then it was all too high and you now need a step stool to climb on to the bed. It’s scary when you get up in the night and suddenly can’t feel the ground! The bedside tables are of normal height and you can’t reach your phone and other items from the bed. Bizzare!!! There is only one stool. So what should the other person do? 😂 The basin and the bathtub, on the other hand, are at the kids’ height. Now what were they thinking? We reached at 7.30 pm and there was no one to help with the luggage. Only one lady at check-in desk. The various restaurants were also closed for renovation or something. They did kindly give us a printout of various cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood. There are two floors but no elevator. So be prepared to carry your bags up and down. We were there for just one night as a transit stop. Had it been longer, we would have moved to a different hotel. Not worth what they charge and highly avoidable!
The Empress Dowager of Sandwich has had a bit too long apologizing for "any inconvenience" for its lack of dining facilities. This old, historical inn, if its advertising is any guide, emphasizes its food services over all else, and right now, there are none (except a mediocre, no charge, continental breakfast), and it is a big loss to have to leave the inn simply to get a decent morning meal. Rooms are furnished colonial style, a bit too old for my taste, but very clean, and well maintained. Attempts at modernity are too few (our room had warming tiles in the bath, a modern thermostat, and a modern, wall-mounted hair dryer), but little else. Too few lamps and places to recharge phones, etc., and plumbing that has seen better days. The gas fireplace was inoperable, probably seasonal, but I didn't ask. In short, to keep its reputation as a luxury property, it needs a wholesale renovation, and far more than reopening the kitchen, though that would be a good start. Still, overall, a very pleasant stay if you can deal with the shortcomings, and still better than most. Service was the best aspect of our stay, room cleaning was good, but not offered generally. Your choice. Expensive, but mostly worth it.
Didn’t feel very luxurious to be a 4 star hotel , rooms were technically clean but didn’t feel clean due to dated carpets and drapery. Old mattress was warm down from too much usage and needed to be replaced. Very expensive for what it was. Breakfast is only free on the week days which is crazy if you’re staying in the hotel there should be options during the weekend for free breakfast if it’s included on the week days!! or even just coffee for free in the dining areas if you’re staying. Didn’t want to use dusty kureg machines in room. Dining area is pretty setting, but the carpeting in the whole dining room and hotel needs to be changed, it smells and makes everything feel dirty and dark.
Disappointing Experience and Misleading Information I had a highly disappointing experience at this hotel due to multiple issues and misrepresentations. First, the room provided was of a lower category than what I had booked and paid for. Additionally, instead of being in the main hotel building, my room was located in a separate structure (more like a motel), which was not mentioned during the booking process. To make matters worse, there was construction waste near my room, and I was not informed about this beforehand. Furthermore, the separate building where my room was located had no elevator access, a crucial detail that was not communicated to me in advance, causing me considerable inconvenience as I have a knee condition. Another major issue was that key facilities such as the restaurant, bar, and kitchen were all closed due to an incident that had occurred months earlier—something I was not told about when making the reservation. Out of all the SPA amenities advertised, only the manicure service was functional, which was a far cry from what was promised. Overall, this experience was frustrating, and the lack of transparency from the hotel was unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking a reliable and comfortable stay.
We had a gift card for $100 dollars and they would not honor it because the ownership has changed hands. We were told nothing could be done. Not comped drinks or a reduced bill....just nothing could be done. A bad way to end an otherwise nice evening. Management is apparently not in the hospitality business.
Stayed there for a friend's 40th birthday. They closed up early after saying they are open until midnight. Then they called the police on us for being louu
We stayed at this inn on August 23rd-24. The location is great and the rooms are clean but overpriced for what they are. I brought my granddaughter and great grandchildren to the Adventure Park which is very close by . There is no help to get bags or up the stairs ( no elevator) I did get someone to help me finally. As the children were getting ready for bed the toilet started to back up and I called the front desk, the young woman on duty came upstairs and handed us a bucket and towel and said "Good Luck " . I called her back and asked if there was a maintenance person she could call or a manager and she said "No" , this was a Saturday night and no one was available and they had a full house . She said if I wanted to move there was a room in another building and we would have to drive there. I told her that was unacceptable and we would stay there because it was too hard to move the kids and it was getting late. The bath tub backed up in the morning , still no plumber! Breakfast was a disaster and the 15% discount we were supposed to receive went to another family because everyone's order was mixed up . It did not appear to have any management. When I checked out the gentleman there listened to my story and he told me that the woman the night before had given me a 10% discount . I will have to commend him he did give me full credit for the room . It was not the little getaway I had thought it would be , I was very upset.
