Taqueria Jalapeños is a buffet-style restaurant with a wide variety of food options, including sushi, seafood, and a teppanyaki grill. Many customers praise the variety and affordability, especially the snow crab legs on weekends. Some reviewers mention cleanliness issues and inconsistent service.
Tip: Visit on Friday-Sunday for the snow crab legs. Be aware that prices may be higher on holidays.
I was actually really impressed with the quality & variety here. We came on Valentine's Day & expected neither of those things because of that & were pleasantly surprised. Good food. Was a little less than. thrilled with the less than personable staff. Assuming it was the stress of the holiday but we got up for dessert & our table was given to someone else.
At first glance this is a standard buffet; however, the selection and quality is a step above making the value well above the price- which is already slightly more than reasonable. Sushi and sashimi was great, main dishes fresh and clean (not over sauced or too garlic-dependent), and the salad/dessert options more than ample. Will go again when back in town.
Variety and f food, have sushi, ice cream,…. service is good, price is fair, food quality is ok, plenty of parking. Not bad to go there once a while.
One of the few remaining affordable buffets that offer Snow Crab Legs (Friday - Sunday only) in OC. I came on a Friday evening, and restaurant was 90% full capacity. Cold crab legs alongside hot fried crabs. Eight flavors of ice cream for dessert. Excellent value for the price!
Surprisingly, this location exceed my expectations restaurant is super clean food is fresh and tasty it's unlike any other Chinese buffet I hight recommend the location give it a try lots of food options and good seating I do wish they had actually Utensils instead of plastic silverware but that's not a big issue
We came in as we were in the neighborhood. Angie, who is the owner, was very welcoming as were her staff. They have a large selection of food to choose from. Their sushi was probably one of the best buffet sushi I have had. The rest of the buffet was very good for the price point. The restaurant was clean, although the restrooms could be better maintained. Overall it was a nice experience and I will come back again in the future.

I loved their ice cream there it was delicious and there was AWESOME service they gave me a toy and every 2 minutes they come and check on you and take any empty dishes they also gave me two free fortune cookies and offered more they are super kind but hopefully I don't get food poisoning the next day
Absolutely amazing experience. The waiters and hosts were very nice, they are very kind and very attentive when refilling drinks and taking plates. Always have a smile on their faces. The food itself is great with options for various diets, the taste of the food is great, always got something for everyone. The atmosphere is relaxed yet enjoyable for everyone. Overall a great experience, id recommend this place to anyone
Google places looking for crab legs and found Santa buffet I got. Crab legs. Broccoli beef shrimp and my wife likes langostino with chile she loves it and she got 2 plates of crab legs we’re going back soon but next time we’re going with my growing up girls we’re going for the crab legs baby delicious
It had more variety of food than I thought it would. I LOVED that they have Thai tea there. Normally buffets dont have that. The dessert area has alot of options. More than I've ever seen at any other buffets. I was surprised to see shrimp chips, cream cheese wontons, popcorn and 6 flavors of ice cream. My family and I had a great experience. I didnt get any photos because we were too excited to eat. Haha

Great place, great service, they have very much everything you need, the staff is friendly, fresh food, and a lot variety of hot food, and a nice and friendly space for eating. I will definitely and highly recommend this place, and of course I will be back again over and over, I had great experience at this place. If you want to go eat, stop by and you will be happy I guaranty you that.
Food was good and service was good. If u want crab leg, go on Friday or Saturday.
Food is great and has so much variety
Good hot food ..nice customer service..Ate seafood and fresh salad..
A lot of food seafood/sushi great for the first timer allows you to taste lots of different food and they also have some of your typical chinese food ans they have a teppanyaki grill as well. 15 dollars a person and about a 4 dollar drink is what you should expect and kids 2 and up also pay. I paid 56 for 2 and a 2 year old

Place was alright. There was a giant party that was trickling in slowly and the hostess would just stop talking or doing anything when these people came in. I get it, they're a big party so big money and tips but it felt whitey to have to wait 15 plus when there was no one ahead of us. Then she asked me my child's age like 5 times and even though he was fast asleep she made sure to charge us for him. So I made sure to wake my lil guy up so he could eat since we paid. He's 2. Food was overall lack luster, there was alot but what they had wasn't great. The pork buns and roast beef were decent although both were overcooked. Sushi had an overwhelming taste of old Nori, so I stopped after 2. Server was diligent and removed plates often and made sure cup was full of drink. So she saved them from a 1 star on the service. I spent 100$ that frankly i could've just spent at KBBQ for a better experience. Its sad because I remember this being pretty decent. Maybe it was just a bad day but in a place like this we have 1000 other places we can eat at.
I went Monday lunch, late, and I am disappointed, veggies are dry and food looks like leftovers, and they didn't show interest in filling it with newly cooked item, Not happy with my experience
One of the older female waitresses basically rushed us out of the restaurant. She came by and took all of our utensils and I politely told her we were not done. We were seated for 15 mins tops! Food is ok. Staff, not so much. Also, they monitor how much seafood you can get. Made us so uncomfortable that we barely ate any.
I had high hopes for this place, especially since lunch prices were more affordable. The sushi rolls were very fresh, and everything appeared to be quite clean. However, I found the seafood options to be limited, and the clams didn't taste fresh. There were also other food items available, such as pizza and chicken fingers for kids. Overall, it was an interesting experience, but I'm not sure if I would go back again.
They do have a wide selection of sea food, from crabs, shrimp to sushi that makes the price worth it. For someone who doesn't really eat sea food, the options are less. There still enough to get you full, they also have a teppanyaki grill which is like mongolian. The place could use better cleaning and food treatment, but the staff is super friendly and very nice. The girl servicing our table was attentive and offered more refills. Overall its a good place and very popular by the looks of it. The place its a revolving door.
Decent buffet, decent selection, decent price. $46 for two for lunch with a soda and Thai tea
I visited on 10/20/21 around 5 PM and it was slow compared to other times. Dinner price $18.99 they have fried crabs, roast beef, fried shrimp, crawfish, and usual Chinese food dishes. The food yesterday did not all meet my expectations because the crawfish and the crab were not at par as I had before. The roast beef is stil good though. The chicken wings can be better. Choices are good and desert options are okay. For the overall value, I think the buffet can do better with food quality and freshness especially of their main dinner dishes! The Christian music can be dizzying as I glut on food (a sin) while being reminded of religious thoughts. I have nothing against Christian music but in my humble opinion, it is not the right place for it.

The buffet had many selections, but the majority of them were just okay. Nothing special stood out. For the price, the food quality just wasn't there. Service was mediocre, but I wasn't expecting a lot since it is a self serve buffet restaurant. Overall, I just wasn't very impressed. Even the hibachi service left me wanting. I stood there for several minutes while the cook was playing on his phone. For the area, there are plenty of other options for Chinese buffets.

Day by day their food quality is getting worst....I already inform the waiter about their shrimp..that the shrimp smell is so bad but he went to the kitchen and came back saying that nothing is wrong with the shrimp...wow why don't you guys just eat the whole tray of shrimp..wings are dirty soups are cold...even their air condition is not working properly...doors are open widely..flyes everywhere...not mentioned their food name properly...last but not least expensive.....2 adults and 2 kids $78.. on weekdays please mention the price for weekends and weekdays wanted to know about their prices should be informed to the food inspector for inspection.
Food is not bad, but you can get food poisoning careful, me and my friend went there and we are both sick.
Not a place for kids! Over priced waste of money! Customer Service was rude and atmosphere was loud. Not to mention the sign is very Gothic/Satanic ugly looking! Only went here because it was last minute and didn't have much of an option. I'd prefer pizza from 711 than to go back here. They need to step it up! It's chaos in this place.
Everything was okay until we had the same experience many other's reported about the tip issue. I never carry cash so I always pre-tip during the debit card transaction. The server never spoke a word to us. It would have been nice to ask if we needed anything. I had to ask for water. I had left first to get the car started and my two friends who were visiting from another country came up to me stating that the server was harassing them and demanding a tip. They didn't have any American currency on them which made them feel extra pressured. It was not a good ending to our experience. The food was okay. I did get food poisoning sick the next morning. I can't say it was this place that did it but I did notice some reviews stating the same. I won't be returning to this place because of this. It's a cute place and the food looks decent but the experience was not a positive one.
A variety of good food! But service was kind of horrible. We went on Christmas around an hour before it closed. Unfortunately they raised the price to $25.99+ for everyone on that day (so about $30pp total). Food is good and everything I could think of was there. Teppanyaki sushi seafood too. Most of the things I tried were tasty. Not really impressed that they pressured us even before the closing time. Spacious parking in the lot. Clean restroom. Water is free. Another downside is that they use foam and plastic so everything will go into the bin (it’s very very wasteful as you can imagine this is an AYCE). If I were to rate just for the food, probably 4 stars. I wish they could at least change the utensils.

I always come for the crab legs now ill be precautious just exprienced someone stocking the food and when the food item (shrimp) dropped to the ground the lady proceeded with simply picking it up from the ground and placing into the serving dish so someone can be lucky enough to get to eat literally food from the ground.

Beware food is good. But hygiene is not found a roach leg in my ice cream and tried not being a scene and they brought like 3 other employees in themselves .And denied it was a roach leg they said it was from almond from a cookie and i clearly told em i used the almond to dig the roach leg out of my ice cream.
We came to eat and spent 140 on here, and the food was decent. Had an okay time so far until one of their ceiling tiles fell on top of my siblings head and the other got hurt on her wrist. We inhaled a lot of the dust that fell and they were all more worried about cleaning it up rather than our well being. We weren't sure what to do my mom was confused and shocked because it could have done some serious damage to my siblings. I'm not so sure if I'm being selfish for thinking like that but I would have hoped they would show a little more compassion because we could definitely definitely sue this place, Due to their neglect towards the ceiling. If my siblings do come out from the hospital with something we might proceed with legal action. I do however want to thank the young female cashier who did refund us our money when WE WENT UP AND ASKED and apologized while her manager remained silent. I'm sure if we didn't say anything we would have spent $140 and left with possible injuries because they really did not care. I just don't think that many people would feel safe eating there if they're going to keep ignoring stuff like this. I really hope this doesn't happen to anybody else who could be far worse and wouldn't be as understanding.
Disgusting, as soon you walk in the smell of dirty water or carpet or spoiled food but it s so strong that I want to throw up , the place was dirty, food on the floor simply disgusting do not waist your money it s gross and dirty the bathroom omg it s nasty broken toilets and no paper , the cleaning lady just stopped her trash next to us when we are seated and kept on collecting the trash without any respect
The worst buffet i’ve ever been too with one of the worst service ever. We saw the workers dump used water from a used a cup to a new one and give it to my sister she ended up getting food poisoning.
A lady Staffs bad mouthed us here. My five year old kid broke a fortune cookie at the end of dinner(over the table not on floor not a big mess) and the staff came running and started cleaning our table as if she was angry. Even before that she was staring at us for a long time. All felt so weird & with her attitude towards our son,we didn’t felt like giving her tips. Then she said something that we didn’t understand but I’m sure she said something mean. I feel bad for the owners. I hope they can fix it.
Lady was rushing me to leave and just standing next to my table. She was also demanding tip. Didn't like the experience and will not be coming here again.
I went with my siblings here for my birthday because I saw some good reviews posted from months ago, but it wasn't very good. The place smelled very bad and everything was greasy and dirty. The food that I ate made me feel sick. At one point during dinner, a server walked over to our table and picked up my plate that was full of untouched desserts and tried to take it away. I looked at her confused, and she set it back down and walked away. That was our only interaction with any server during dinner, but when we were getting ready to leave, the same lady came over and told us that tips are not included in the amount we paid before entering. We said we understood, and then she proceeded to stand over us and glare at us. At that point, we all stood up and walked out. We always tip, but we hadn't had any service during dinner, and the only times she spoke to us, she was very rude. She then followed us to the entrance and glared at us till we got in the car and drove away. Under normal circumstances, I would've tried to find some cash in the car anyways, but she honestly was scaring me a little.
Food was all dry and lacked flavor. Meat was tough. We hadn’t even finished yet and the lady refilling drinks (who never even refilled mine) was already telling us to leave her a tip. Don’t waste you time or money here.
Food was very mediocre, staff came around and picked up plates had to request more drinks and at the end demanded a tip, staff was very rude and honestly will not recommend it to anyone and will definitely not be coming back. EXTREMLY dissapointed, would definitely not even come back, staff was picking his bugers in the back and the place smelt musty floor was dusty and plates were not scrubbed thoroughly. will never come back
I just ate here with my boyfriend and he paid $45 for the two of us and honestly, it was a huge waste of money. The food was awful. The chicken was bright red like it had fake coloring, and everything else tasted off or just plain bad. The entire place had a weird smell, especially the carpet, and it didn’t feel clean at all. To make things worse, the staff were rude. One of the workers kept staring me down for no reason, which made me super uncomfortable. I usually try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but this was just bad from start to finish. Looking at the other reviews, I’m not the only one. Some people are saying they got sick after eating here, and I honestly believe it. Definitely not coming back — save your money and go somewhere else.
Do not come here. I’m from San Diego and came to Santa Ana to visit. I payed $45 for two people ( the drinks we ordered was also water). And then I realized, this place had no real utensils or cups. They used plastic wear for everything. Plastic cups, plastic forks, and plastic plates. For $45. Dollars I would’ve expected at least real silverware. For the food portion.., they did have a lot of food, however it was lacking flavor. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Save the money and the trouble.
Everything is the wrong temperature. Hot food was cold and cold food was warm. Cross contamination was evident from the residue on the food and tongs. The water used to heat the trays of food was low and gross. Workers were eating on the back of the food bars, then immediately began preparing sushi without washing their hands. Mold on the walls. Fortune cookies were stale. The food also just tasted bad, and some it was very salty. The textures of multiple items made me question whether it had been cooked today. The breads were stale and chewy. I came to this restaurant knowing it was a buffet, and didn’t expect much, but this was the worst restaurant experience I have had in 10 years.
I have been going since they opened and today was the last straw the food is ok and they have variety but the servers are very rude and they treat Asians better by offering them drinks and letting them stay longer. But today I went with my family and the waiter was not letting my family through because she thought we did not tip her. My mom ignored her but then she was not letting me through and told me if I didn’t tip to give her back the cookies and she was very persistent saying that I have to tip. We did leave a tip but it was at the center of the table I should have taken it back but I didn’t think in the moment. Don’t recommend because their service sucks.
