I hosted 26 people here for a 3 course sit down dinner for a personal celebration and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. We had our own room upstairs toward the back, which felt cozy and private but not too closed in. Staff were extremely professional and very attentive and flexible with the timing of the greeting/dining portions of the evening. They gave us an abbreviated menu that still allowed a choice of 5-6 appetizers, 5-6 main plates, and 2 desserts. Everyone loved their food. I will hold another event here for sure.
Excellent food cooked to perfection. Our servers were very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu.
This was an absolutely amazing meal!! Beginning to end we loved it all. The fritters were delicious. Duck was cooked perfectly and the desserts!! You must save room for the desserts. Do not skip the coconut cake and for chocolate lovers the marquise is divine. Run don't walk to Jane if you are in the area!!!
We had a large family dinner here the weekend of our wedding and had the best time! We were able to rent the upstairs for up to 40 people for a very reasonable price and were given great options for entrees that satisfied everyone. We had a private restroom close by which was so convenient. Our food was delicious and our servers were incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive. We were sooo happy we chose Jane for this special night and it’s definitely one we’ll never forget. ☺️
Dinner for three and everything was exquisite. Best dinner I’ve had in a long time. Coconut Cake is a must! The sauces were a wow. Cannot rave enough.
This place is amazing! The food is fresh and delicious, the service is excellent, and the space is beautiful! Everyone that works here is so kind and friendly!
Held our wedding reception within the private space and was very happy with how it all turned out! The food, service and overall vibe of the space was great.
Dining at Jane's is always a fantastic experience! The food was delicious and they were accommodating of one of our groups dietary needs. And the service was exceptional and very attentive.
Had never been here before and searched the area for dinning spots. Greater immediately when entering the restaurant. Was not crowded at 6p weekday Server was well versed in the menu. He was friendly and made sure that any questions concerning the menu I had were answered French onion soup was good. Steak was grilled to perfection Overall a good place to eat. Calm atmosphere I recommend
We've been here three times in the last 6 months, and despite being expensive, it's absolutely phenomenal. One of the best places in the Santa Barbara area to eat. Everything we've had has been amazing, the customer service is phenomenal, nothing takes too long, but nothing feels forced. It's a very laid back experience while maintaining absolute professionalism.
Just hosted our wedding dinner reception in their private room and it exceeded all our expectation. It felt private, romantic, and was spacious enough to have our guest mingle around. The food and drinks were delicious! Our assigned waitresses were amazing. They were very attentive, kind, and made the event flow very effortlessly.
We booked Jane’s for a last minute dinner on our final night in Santa Barbara and it was perfect Front of house was lovely and sat us on the little balcony over looking the street and mountains in the distance, our servers were lovely and the kitchen adapted a salad for me and it was exactly what I wanted Thanks Jane restaurant
We had a romantic dinner on the balcony of Jane, which was nice and toasty. Everything was delicious and our server Kira was friendly and impeccable. We started with the French onion soup and a side salad. I had the scallops with orecchietti, sundried tomatoes, and spinach in a cream sauce (usually it also has shitake mushrooms). It came with a Caesar salad. Sweetie had the penne a la Bolognese. Very relaxed, great view of the Christmas tree, excellent experience.
I apologize for a not so great photo of a partially eaten salad. But the salad, (Greek spinach with homemade lamb sausage) was friggen amazing. The feta was described as Valbreso Feta, which i had no idea what it was , but it was rich and creamy, almost like a goat brie mix. It’s amazing. Added bonuses for attentive, friendly staff that accommodated my disability by providing me with reading glasses so I could read the menu. (I forgot mine.) Go. Solid choice, everything at out table was well prepared & presented. Next time ill try to remember pix before diving in.
Thoroughly enjoyable dinner, a few days before Christmas 2022. We were fortunate to get a table on the heated balcony overlooking the street. I recall eating here years ago and enjoying the busy sidewalks on State Street below. But it was chilly here now and the streets were surprisingly still, except for the mellow notes of the busking guitar player exploiting the natural reverb of the adjacent Arlington Theater arcade. Exceptional service from everyone from the moment we walked in the door. We especially enjoyed the special pasta, an Orecchiette with a light, savory sauce. Also had the very hearty Penne Bolognese. The French Onion Soup is only for those who will love a huge mass of melted Gruyere. We did -- good thing they had brought bread.
My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here and we had the BEST experience. We had to rearrange our wedding plans with less than 2 most notice and Jane's team was more than willing to host us and accommodate pretty much all of our request on short notice. The staff, food and overall vibe was excellent. Our family and friends were very impressed by the restaurant, staff and yummy yummy food! If you are planning for an event here, you're in good hands! The wine here is pretty good too ;)
My husband and I eloped on June 4 and decided to have our wedding dinner here. We had initially planned on having a much larger party and decided to have something much more intimate. The coordination with everyone at Jane went really well and they Were extremely responsive and accommodating. Our dinner there the night of our wedding was amazing! Our waitress was extremely patient and really friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! I definitely recommend this restaurant for either a small dinner or a big family event.
I got married at the SB Courthouse in February and we hosted a small dinner for our family at Jane after. From the very beginning of the reservation and planning process, the team was so incredibly helpful and a pleasure to work with. My family all raved about the food that night and the atmosphere was so lovely. The gal that does the flowers for the restaurant did the flowers for our table, as well as our wedding flowers. Alicia was so great to work with and all of the flowers came out so beautiful. Thank you to the team for recommending her! Overall, 10/10 experience. Highly recommend!
We had the pleasure of hosting our son and daughter in law's rehearsal dinner at Jane on Sept 6th. We are from Ohio and had never been to Santa Barbara so scheduling this event was somewhat a leap of faith. Jane did not disappoint!! The event coordinator, Meagan, was a breeze to work with via email and Jane has several menu options to choose from for events. The food was fantastic from the apps to the main course to the dessert. And the portions were unreal- almost too much!! We had 2 servers for a party of 36 and they were so kind and responsive to the group. We taxed the staff's efforts a bit as we wanted a turn around of about 2.5 hours as the bride and groom had another event scheduled, but they came through an amazing meal! The venue and atmosphere was perfect for our needs. We were set up in a balcony area with 3 large tables with a really quaint, comfy and upscale feel. Had we wanted this to be a chance to mingle and chat, it would have been a bit tight, but it was perfect for our purposes of having a wonderful, celebratory meal before the big event the next day! We would whole heartedly recommend Jane, whether for an event or just a date night!! Thank you to all the staff at Jane that night for your part in our beautiful weekend!!
Best of Santa Barbara. Living in Ventura, I don't get to SB as much as I use to. Have to eat at Jane when I do. Soo good
The Jane hosted us so very well for lunch that we return if , no when, we get back to Santa Barbara. I noticed patrons between with ages from about 25 to our guest’s age of 93. The menu and service worked across several generations.
Excellent food, a little pricey but worth it. I had the Veal Marsala and it was great! Excellent service as well.
I set up a surprise birthday party at the Jane Restaurant in Santa Barbara over the Memorial Day weekend. The event coordinator, Meagan, provided great guidance with prompt answers about all the food and set up options. We had 21 people in a reserved room. The curtains to the room were pulled back just as we got to the top of the stairs, what a surprise! What can I say, it was tons of fun! We chose one of the 3 course fixed meal options that had three main course choices and I received excellent comments on all the food. I was concerned about the service, since we were upstairs, but the staff did an excellent job, and I didn’t notice any delays. Not being a big wine drinker, I had them recommend a good selection and they were all wonderful. Just a note on alcohol – no hard liquor at the Jane. As it was Memorial Day Weekend finding a place was a bit of a chore. This is a smaller restaurant with excellent food and service . They solved a lot of my problems with good advice during a time when I was having difficulty getting many restaurants to even return my calls. I don’t do many reviews, but this restaurant deserves all the good words! Walking out I saw a very complimentary note to the owners from Julia Childs! If you are interested in a very nice dinner for a group of up to 20 people, this is the place to try!
While not being a burger only parlor, this restaurant serves outstanding burgers. House made buns, and you can tell.
We hosted a dinner at Janes with 30 family and friends to celebrate our daughters graduation from UCSB. Since we do not live in Santa Barbara, I was a bit worried about it all coming together but Meagan in events and the team the day of the party was amazing from start to finish. We booked almost a year out and reserved the upstairs area for our group. We were able to select a menu, work with their florist for just a few arrangements, and everything came together so nicely. The food was excellent as was the service on the day of the party. Food and wine were also great and our guests complimented all the dishes, especially their speciality items (Chicken Piccata and the Coconut Cake!) but everything was delicious . If you are hosting a grad party or any party for that matter, it was a wonderful venue.
Jane hosted our company christmas dinner, upstairs in the one of their more private rooms and it was perfect. Our waiter we had assigned soloy to our group was so friendly and nice, and the food was amazing. Thank you Jane for making our Christmas dinner one to remember.
Jane was the perfect place for our wedding party of ~20 people. Meagan was responsive and helpful from the start, the upstairs room was private, the food and service were wonderful, and their florist Alicia did an amazing job with the arrangements. We highly recommend this restaurant for hosting any special event, and I’m sure we’ll be back!
We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Jane Restaurant. The service is fantastic with a friendly organized wait staff. The entrees are very tasty and the coconut cake is yummy. You have to try it to believe how really good it is. Addicting. Everything runs smoothly and is a well run restaurant with consistent food. We are lucky to have dined there many times.
Awesome place! Was able to sit on the second level outdoor patio and it had one of the best views in Santa Barbara. My wife and I enjoyed the calamari and Caesar salad to start, then had the linguini and clams and the lamb meatballs with fettuccine. Great sized dishes and the flavor was fantastic, would recommend to anyone who comes to Santa Barbara!
Food and service were great. Our party of ten was late and the staff and our waitress were all gracious as we straggled in. The cheese platter we ordered was incredible with really delicious and perfectly ripe blackberries, honey dew melon and strawberries included with the cheese. We will be back!
We had our rehearsal dinner at Jane in July after doing the typical 2020 reservation that was pushed back two years. The Jane team was so easy to work with, so flexible with us all along the way, and the actual event was amazing. It’s a gorgeous venue and we reserved the top section for 27 people. It was so nice to have a private place where we could all get up and mingle between courses. We stayed for over 3 hours and nobody made us feel like it was time to leave. The steaks were delicious and we had a large variety of wine to pick from, We’re looking forward to celebrating many future events with Jane.
I was exited to discover one of the legendary locals taste in a spot at SB. Deli His & Her Experience: Her: Bargetto Pinot Griogio, lightly fruity His: Draughtsmen Aleworks, Irish Red Ale Her: Grilled Salmon on Cedar Planck His: Grilled Lamp Chop With Balcony View ! No time for dessert, My Husby and I, we got an escape after work, we pick train to SB. I totally recommend you Jane, You got one of my Rochellin 🌟 ( I’m such fan of Meryl Strip, and one of her actress name was JANE) Guys you got me, I appreciate your conscious practice of foodscraps on compost 👏🏽💚
I searched everywhere for a place that can house 20-26 people for a Wedding Dinner that had a reasonable price. Jane Restaurant was the only place I found with great reviews and at decent price. We signed the contract and read through the details and it was all very fair and we were so happy to find a place that could accommodate my family and friends. On the event date, we arrived and sat upstairs. There, the waiter explained that we have the upstairs area all for ourselves with our own private restroom. They set up two tables with plates, glasses and menus for everyone. The menu options were simple like we had picked during the selection process and drinks were all up to each person to choose. When the food came out, we were all excited because it looks amazing. It tasted just as good as it looked, if not BETTER! The quality of the service, food and setup was way beyond our expectations and I cannot thank you enough for just existing!
The exceptional experience I had at Jane's began at the door with the host. Tall and kind, he shared a glimpse of his day with me. Matt was great, as well. I enjoyed the salmon with mango salsa. I was torn between that and the chicken picatta. You can not go wrong with either. I had a refreshing sparkling rosé that was a perfect blend. Yumalicious! I will be back.
We hosted a 40 person private dinner in the upstairs terrace of Jane and it was wonderful! Ambiance and service were excellent!
We hosted a "night before wedding" dinner for guests who were spending the weekend in Santa Barbara and after seeing photos and looking at the menu, we decided on Jane. Everything was fantastic, from the coordination, interior, the food and the service. Meagan was responsive and helpful with all the changes that occured leading up to the reservation. Will definitely come back again!
We had a great date night here. We had some specials (fish) which tasted fresh and delicious. We sat on the little balcony which is small but nice and intimate, overlooking the street. I prefer quieter restaurants and this worked well for us.
This place is very charming, the wait staff is super friendly and attentive. I had the duck breast which was very good, but my girlfriend had the chicken piccata which I tried and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted. She got too full to finish it but refused to let me finish it so she could have the rest for leftovers. I had to take a star off the review since I really wanted to finish it, so this place gets only 5 stars instead of 6. We also had a blueberry cobbler special for dessert which was top notch.
This place is an absolute dream. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like, BUT you have to get the chicken piccata. I know it’s often left out of consideration when going to a place like this, but what a mistake! It’s absolutely the best I’ve ever had, maybe the best chicken dish I’ve ever had. The service and wine are impeccable. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. Can’t stop coming here and when I’m not at Jane, I’m dreaming of that piccata.
it was a very beautiful setting. The restaurant made sure that the tables had candles and in and everything was too hard standing it was perfect and then with the flowers oh my goodness it was absolutely beautiful. The staff was wonderful. We had two young ladies who served us and they were on it quick sweet professional you name it couldn’t have asked for anyone better they cleaned it up and everything. It was the perfect evening if you’re going to have a small intimate reception for a party wedding anniversary this is the place to have it. The food was incredible thank you Janes
Surprisingly good food and exceptional service for us on our way to see a play at a nearby theatre. I heartily recommend this place.
This lovely restaurant met all our expectations: Delicious, perfectly balanced 'El Macho' burger and tasty dessert. Good wine, friendly service. Cozy and romantic atmosphere. Best value for price encountered so far in Santa Barbara. I would recommend 'Jane' for a great evening with your date or meeting good friends.
I believe I have found the best Calamari in town. Nice meaty pieces, lightly breaded and fried, paired perfectly with spicy ranch and chipotle ketchup (pictured). Quite delicious. The fish sandwich with avocado was divine as well - no picture, ate it too quickly. Will definitely be back!
We had a lovely dinner at this lovely little place on State Street. We were passing through Santa Barbara on our trip down the coast and found it because of the great reviews, which we can confirm! We had the salmon and the filet mignon, both exceptional (the filet literally melted in my mouth). A cozy fireplace, great decor and lighting, and cute little upstairs seating areas gave it a very European flavor. The only thing that could have made our great dining experience even better is if the fresh bread we’d been brought (along with butter) had been warm 😉.
We had our rehearsal dinner at Jane and it was fabulous. The service was great, the staff was on top of details. The food is something my guests are still talking about. There is nothing I would not recommend. Working with Megan was great and she always answered my emails and questions quickly. The florist they recommended created the most beautiful arrangements! Thank you for making a special welcoming dinner for my out of town guests.
One of the most beautiful restaurants in town. Walking in is like entering a European home. The staff are all friendly, making for a wonderful dining experience. For lunch I had the Jane Burger and could tell the ingredients was very high quality. And I always go for the coconut cake, it's so tasty!
This was such a splendidly cute restaurant with upscale eats. For an appetizer, my friend and I ordered the fried apples with fried brie on an arugula and mixed greens salad, which was scrumptious. The fried items were far from greasy and- dare I say- slightly refreshing. I had the roasted duck with a raspberry glaze and a sauteed fig; I want to shout out the person who came up with that concoction. That was such a lovely blend. My friend had a burger with fries, which was also very yummy. The waiter capped off our dinner with their famous coconut cake and two cappuccinos. The service was prompt, respectful, and kind. The ambience was also out of this world. The beige walls paired well with the lighting in the evening. I would return in a heartbeat! Our waiter was Diem! Thank you! The price was also on-point!
We had our wedding dinner at Jane’s private upstairs room after our courthouse ceremony and everything was incredible! Their food is always so yummy and the room feels very intimate, a couple guests mentioned they forgot they were in a restaurant. No complaints from us, we love Jane!!
Visited Jane on a day trip with my beautiful wife. Located in Santa Barbara's main thoroughfare, this is a place worth the visit. We came on a weekday when they open at 5. We asked to be seated on the Juliette balcony overlooking the street and other restaurants. There are three tables on the narrow balcony setup for couples. Ambiance is great with music playing and candles on table. They have gas heaters they can turn on when it gets chilly. We had the filet mignon, chicken piccata, and Calamari. Total bill was 85 dollars and we had plenty of leftovers. It can get quite busy here we're told. Definitely coming back again to try some of their other items on the menu.
We hosted a celebration lunch at Jane following our civil ceremony at the Santa Barbara courthouse, and everything was absolutely perfect. We reserved one of the mezzanines for 11 people, and the setup, atmosphere, food, and service exceeded our expectations. A huge thank-you to Meagan for helping us plan the event, Jane for making last-minute adjustments and ensuring everything ran seamlessly on the day, and Alicia for the stunning floral arrangements. We couldn't be happier. They even wrapped the flowers beautifully so we could take them home afterward. In terms of the food, all the preset lunch menus were awesome, and the GRILLED FLAT BREAD as an appetizer platter was a hit. Since most of our guests do not drink, we had DEALCOHOLIZED ROSE as a welcoming drink, and everyone loved it. Thank you again for making such a special day unforgettable.
We had the most romantic, magical and amazing wedding celebration dinner❤️ Thank you Jane for make our special night. The flowers were perfect, the food was delicious, the service was great, the wine was amazing and we can’t wait to come back for our anniversary. The Laymances
Came to Santa Barbara from Mexico City and honestly, everything hit. The clam pasta in white wine sauce was wow, and the lamb ribs with salad were delicious — especially the fries that came with them. And last but not least, the coconut cake… I’m not kidding, I returned several times just for that.
We had great time here. The service was great and the food was excellent. We enjoyed every dish we ordered including the nonalcoholic drink. Highly recommend this place! We made 5pm reservation during weekday. No wait time for us at all.
Solid service by the end of the meal, although it started a bit cold. Amazing food overall. Chicken Milanese is one of the best I’ve had in a while. One downside: was quite underwhelmed with the famous coconut cake - it was dry and OVERLY sweet (coming from someone with a very big sweet tooth.)
We wanted something small and intimate for our wedding reception. JANE was able to accommodate my party of 20. Booking was easy and not stressful at all. Once we got there everything turned out perfect. Our server was so kind and patient and I really appreciate his service. The food was amazing. I’m so happy everyone finished their food. I think we were able to accommodate everyone’s taste. We also ordered their famous coconut cake which was also delicious. The best part was that we got a section of the upstairs area all to ourselves away from the rest of the customers. Loved that we had our own restrooms. This was nice because that way the kids in our party didn’t bother the rest of the guest at the restaurant. Overall I would recommend Jane to anyone looking for an intimate dinner for your special occasion. -One happy bride and groom
Highly recommend having a private event at Jane. We had our wedding reception dinner here and was overjoyed with the atmosphere, food and service (shout out to Haley and Michael our servers for the night who were amazing and very attentive). Meagan the Private events coordinator was outstanding and incredibly communicative; answering all my questions and providing all info I needed in such a timely manner. My husband and our families were delighted, our dinner and desserts were absolutely delicious! It was such a wonderful place to conclude our special day. I have been recommending Jane to my friends and coworkers. We can't wait to come back for our anniversary in the coming years.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable 40th Birthday at Jane – Perfection from Start to Finish! I recently hosted my 40th birthday celebration at Jane Restaurant and Event Rental Space with 35 of my closest friends and family, and I can honestly say it was one of the best events I've ever thrown, and I’ve planned quite a few over the years! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, stylish, and inviting, the perfect blend of upscale and comfortable. The space is beautifully designed, and the staff made everything feel effortless. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, and I never once had to stress about anything during the event. They were professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. They even had a delicious mocktail for me since I am expecting. Now let’s talk about the food — WOW. Every single dish was out-of-this-world delicious. Our guests are still raving about the flavors, presentation and how perfect everything was for serving so many people at the same time. From appetizers to desserts, everything was absolutely top-tier. What truly sets Jane apart is the unbeatable value. The quality of the service, ambiance, and food far exceeded expectations for the price. It’s rare to find a venue that checks all the boxes, and then some, but Jane nailed it. Whether you’re planning a milestone birthday, a corporate event, or anything in between, do yourself a favor and book Chase. It was a 5-star experience in every possible way, and I can’t wait for the next excuse to come back!
My wife and I came down to Santa Barbara to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find a quaint place to have dinner & finally arrived at "Jane". This restaurant, named after the founding "grandma" and passed down through generations, did not disappoint. Seriously, just go, you will be amazed & love it! Ambiance: When we arrived, they let us choose where to sit. We opted to sit in the second floor balcony at the front of the restaurant. It was so quaint and fun. We could see the street and it was relatively quiet with a table next to the window. The decor around the restaurant is full of artwork and keepsakes that our waitress told us were from all of Grandma Jane's travels around the world. Such a unique view of her life experiences. Food: Okay, we loved it. It was nearly perfect! My wife got the chicken piccata. She frequently gets this when she goes out to eat & she said this is the best she's ever had. It was the perfect level of crisp on the outside with amazing flavor throughout. Paired with scalloped potatoes, this was the perfect blend of flavors and the perfect portion size. The night before she had gotten chicken piccata at another Italian restaurant in SB & this one blew it out of the water. If you like chicken piccata, guaranteed you will love this! I got the Halibut. I was vacillating between salmon and halibut, so I asked our waitress for her opinion--there was no hesitation, she said to get the halibut. I was not 100% sure I would like the orange sauce on it, or the pistachio crust. She assured me it was great. She was not at all wrong. I have traveled around the world and gotten lots of different fish dishes at all sorts of restaurants (from hole in the wall to 5-star). This was among the best, if not the best. The fish was perfectly cooked, the unique flavor mix of orange and strawberry left me wishing I did not finish. Again, the pairing with scalloped potatoes was amazing. To find out that most of the ingredients were locally sourced was also very cool--that would explain the fresh taste throughout. We closed out the evening with dessert (of course). My wife got the chocolate dessert and I got the lemon dessert (don't recall the actual names). Both of them were a good portion and the flavors were again amazing. My wife is a chocolate connoisseur and absolutely loved the rich dark chocolate flavors. I love lemon and appreciated the mix of lemon and berry mixed together. All in, this was an amazing dinner and a great way to celebrate our anniversary. Our waitress was very attentive and answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend this as your first choice to eat in SB.
We hosted our 40 person wedding dinner here and it couldn’t of gone better! The food was phenomenal and Meagan the event coordinator was extremely helpful and communicative. We got everything we wanted! And Alicia the florist was truly the sweetest and made the room look so gorgeous and special. We absolutely loved it! Everyone couldn’t stop talking about the food and the cake and the intimate space ::)
What a wonderful experience from initial reach out to dining experience! We celebrated a 50 year anniversary for my parents and couldn't have picked a better venue. The private table, staff, and food was top notch. Highly recommended!!
Yes all around from me! Super popular spot so make sure to reserve a spot / seats. Wonderful server made our experience amazing. Food was delicious. We sat upstairs overlooking the busy street. Wine is yummy. Parking is on the street.
Okay, so I have no idea how much this place costs, I was there as a part of a wedding party. All I know is, food was delicious, service was awesome, and the atmosphere was very good. Also, the potatoes that were served with every meal…. SO GOOD.
Found this little gem, completely by luck. The restaurant does not disappoint! The ambiance inside looked great, though we chose to sit outside. Our server was attentive and accommodating. We started with onion soup, onion rings, fried brie and apple fritters, wedge salad. All were great. Soup was the best! Onion rings were flavorful but a bit oily. Main course across our group was veal, trout, fillet, burgers and lamb chop. Everything was excellent.. the trout and lamb chops were the favorites. Topped dinner with coconut chiffon cake which was a huuuuuge hit. All in all, two thumbs up!
My wife and I first dined at Jane back in Nov. 2021. We both loved the food and ambience so much that we ended up having our wedding reception there last month (March 2022). We reached out to the event coordinator, Meagan, who helped us reserve the upstairs mezzanine and balcony area for our big day. She was very responsive to emails, ensured out needs were met and made the whole process very seamless. She also provided us a recommendation for a local florist, Alicia, who did a fantastic job with the flower arrangements and tablet setup. The restaurant was perfect for hosting our small, intimate wedding reception. The food at Jane was very delicious and all of our guest had a great time dining at Jane. The service was excellent. The staff there was very accommodating and ensure all of our needs were fulfilled. We went with the $70 preset dinner menu with some minor alterations to a couple menu items. All the food came our cooked to perfection. They are also known for their coconut chiffon cake and just so happened it was also our wedding cake...delicious!!! We highly recommend dining at Jane for their food, friendly staff, great service and ambience.
We are so glad we held our small wedding reception here! Just a short walk away from the courthouse, this restaurant has a charming interior and delicious food. We reserved the private room, which is on the second story (loft style) and has its own bathroom. It was the perfect setting, and we felt like we had our own private venue even with the restaurant downstairs adding just the perfect amount of ambiance. Everyone at Jane was so helpful and accommodating, from helping with vegan options to setting up the cake, and were incredibly patient with us and all of our guests. Not to mention, the food is AMAZING! Delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this place to anyone doing a micro wedding at the courthouse!

Okay, so I have no idea how much this place costs, I was there as a part of a wedding party. All I know is, food was delicious, service was awesome, and the atmosphere was very good. Also, the potatoes that were served with every meal…. SO GOOD.
We held my brother's wedding rehearsal here and it was amazing! Their balcony section gave us the perfect amount of privacy with enough space for speeches and vows. The food was excellent and very easy to coordinate for an event of 33 people.
My wife and I had been wanting to try Jane for quite some time, and we finally made it in yesterday. What a wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed, straight through dinner and until we left, everything was outstanding. Our server, Tatum, was an absolute delight — attentive, friendly, and professional. Our meals (both filet mignon) were cooked exactly as ordered…mine medium rare and my wife’s well done. Both were excellent. We will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommend — 100%.
We had a wonderful 80th Birthday party for my husband at Jane in Santa Barbara last week. The tables and flowers were beautiful and all of our guests raved about the food. We chose Jane for our party because in all the years we have been a patron, we have never been disappointed with a meal. Even serving 18 people in our party as well as a full restaurant the food was prepared perfectly and the service was excellent. Planning the party was easy with Jane's party planner. She was clear about the details, cost and arrangements. I highly recommend Jane in Santa Barbara for your next meal and or event. Thank you all, Jeri

One of the most beautiful restaurants in town. Walking in is like entering a European home. The staff are all friendly, making for a wonderful dining experience. For lunch I had the Jane Burger and could tell the ingredients was very high quality. And I always go for the coconut cake, it's so tasty!

Not going to run this place down because they were very friendly and accommodating but just not a lot of boldness to the food here. If you like flavors that play it safe, this is the place for you. I had the goat cheese pancakes and goat cheese is very distinctive but I couldn't really taste it. Chicken curry was also middle of the road. The chutney had only the smallest of spice. My wife said the same thing about her Bolognese. Perhaps our palettes are not sensitive enough for the subtlety. Dessert was very good chocolate marquise cake with raspberry sauce for my wife. I had the espresso. Anyway not saying the food was poor in any way, but I like to be challenged a little more when I eat out.
Excellent dinner overall, and nice ambiance. We had a reservation for 9pm, got seated quickly. They had a good selection of wines by the glass. For the main I had the crusted sea bass. Delicious and tender fish, with a nice compliment of veggies and scalloped potatoes. For dessert I ha. The coconut cake, which was delicious though a bit overly sweet. We enjoyed the experience and the friendly and attentive staff.
Staff was mixed: host and others acted as if we were something of an inconvenience to them, while wait staff was lovely. We were rather unceremoniously dumped by the wait station, and when I inquired if there might be another option for seating the host said "it's just one waiter", and walked away. The food we ordered was delicious, but be aware that some items in dishes are not mentioned on the menu, e.g.: I am very allergic to dairy, and my dish had no dairy content listed, but arrived with a cheese scalloped potato. Unimportant to anyone other than those of us with serious allergies to that product. Otherwise, a nice meal.
Beautiful area. This restaurant came highly recommended from a local. The clam chowder was good, baked sole was very good. Coconut cake was divine. Waiter was very nice, but not very attentive. I was traveling alone in CA that week and found that most places do not invest much in single patrons, which is a shame. My waiter was did help me move tables once I realized it was quite cold outside and there was loud construction nearby.
Our family celebrated a graduation at Jane on State Street. They set up two nice tables upstairs for our group. Very nice table set- up. Food was great, service was impeccable. Very reasonably priced compared to a lot of other places with event space. Highly recommended.
Nice restaurant with delicious food but a bit pricy. Had a good evening and the staff was attentive. The pancake with salmon and goat chees as apetizer was very good. Only drop of bitterness: The ice machine for the kids dessert was out of order. They offered an alternative dessert - but for the full price!? Would have been nice the make half the price, because a plate of pasta with bolognese sauce as a kids menu - price was not listed on the menu - for 13 bucks is heavy.
My favorite upscale restaurant in Santa Barbara. Nice atmosphere and beautiful food - both in taste and presentation. The staff are really nice. We had a birthday last time there and they were kind enough to light up a candle on their infamous coconut cake (btw you should definitely try it out). Their appetisers are great as well as their mains like duck breast and chicken sandwiche. Highly recommended.
The place is beautiful and cozy. My friends and I sat outside and it was very nice because they had heaters. The waitress was very attentive. Even though we had a reservation we have to wait around 10 min to get a table outside because we didn't want to have dinner inside. But that was ok. In terms of the food, I feel that I ordered maybe the wrong dish (boeuf Bourguignon). I didn't read any reviews before coming (as I normally do) so I didn't know what to expect. I just saw at the entrance a letter from Julia Child recommending this place so that immediately brought me some memories of French food. So I decided to order the beef Bourguignon and a glass of San Simeon Pinot Noir. I was a bit disappointed with the beef because I felt it was lacking flavor. Others that I've tried in the past taste more like wine or herbs. But I did like the flatbread with eggplant and olives, that's great for sharing. And my friends said they really loved their dishes: chicken piccata, seared ahi and shrimp salad, and the duck. We also shared the coconut cake between the 4 of us. It was pretty good, it's soft, milky and tasty. Two of us thought that maybe having another flavor on the side (like berries) could help balance the sweetness. I think it's like a coconut version of Tres Leches. Overall it was a nice dinner and the place at night definitely felt special. I guess next time I'll read reviews to get some recommendations.
What a wonderful dining experience in a very cozy and quaint SB location. We were greeted right away and offered to find a seat of our choice. The room and other guests were very pleasant, music playing soft enough to hear but not loud enough to impede dinner conversation. The staff was very polite and friendly offering the specials of the evening. Eee started with great tasting “Red Rings” which were lightly coated onion rings and a very tasty ranch sauce. Our dinner or Pork Chops, scalloped potatoes and seasonal vegetables. All very delicious and extremely flavorful. With a glass of of Merlot and Shiraz, this meal was made for perfection in our dining experience. This was topped off with a great cup of freshly made coffee and wonderful cheesecake with a home made raspberry sauce. Definitely planning to return for the well touted Chicken Piccata and Filet and more. Agreeably, we have found a great dining spot in SB that gives you a meal, great company and soothing atmosphere which the best in SB area. Stop by you will not regret it and in fact refer it to your family and friends. Ask about the “Jane” story and you will appreciate the restaurant even more so.
The atmosphere was nice a quiet, very limited on drink options if you happen to not like wine, the presentation of the food was very nice however it was just ok. I read a comment about ordering your steak rare to get medium rare and I would concur. I had to send my steak back it was very over done, my second steak was better but still not right. It wasn't bad however I wouldn't recommend it to a friend nor would I plan to come back just wasn't for me
Made reservations weeks in advance, checking in a few days before to select a special table because it was a birthday. Upon arrival we were made to wait 15 minutes to be told our table was taken “by a theatre crowd”. “Come back in another 15”. We did and still no table. “Go for a walk and we will call you when it opens”. NEVER called. How unprofessional and amateur. Maybe the food is good, but we will never know.
The food was no good. Very upset since I had heard so many good things about this place.
I have always loved this place until now, and even recommended my parents go there yesterday for their anniversary. They loved the food, the experience, everything, until they received the check to pay. Everything that they ate was accurate, but they were being charged for 6 extra desserts!!! How is this even possible? I do not want to think that they do this to people regularly to see if they will notice the additional charges or not. When they approached the server to correct the check, she said it was her mistake, it was for another table, I find it odd that a table happened to order the EXACT same thing as them. Anyways, just take a good look at your checks when you pay to make sure you are not being charged for things you did not order or ate.
I came here years ago and enjoyed it and the service, so thought I would return for a special occasion. Unfortunately, it's a miss for many reasons. We booked reservations and indicated in the notes that it was a birthday. The host (female owner?) seated us behind a very loud group of women, so we asked for a quieter table. She led us to the back of house to a table just at the end of the kitchen alley. The other option, she said was upstairs. Given that two people in our party were elderly, the suggestion to sit upstairs was obtuse. I called her out on not being very thoughtful about this being a birthday. She exclaimed, "OH! I'm sorry!" almost with sarcasm. Despite there being a better located four-top and the long table, she pushed the kitchen alley table on us, saying, "It's going to get very busy soon," urging us to just sit down. The host sets the tone when guests walk in the restaurant, so we weren't pleased going forward. Our waitress was polite enough though, but honestly, didn't offer much creativity either. Other wait staff seemed aloof and annoyed, so at least our waitress was nice and polite. But despite it being a birthday, we had to ask for the dessert menu. She just asked if we wanted boxes, lol. Fine, we took the leftovers home. But you'd think our server would have offered the dessert menu for cake. Anyway, two dessert items weren't even available, since they were "reworking" their dessert menu. Same thing with appetizers and wine. No suggestions on her part, so we just ordered side salads to accompany the entrees. When asking about the wine, she was like, "well, do you want red or white? We have a pinot, which is kinda sweet, a syrah, which is less so, and then a cab." Is that how the server is supposed to describe the wine choices? You tell me. This was more like dining at Denny's or the Olive Garden; not fine dining, despite spending just over $200. Btw, they charged $2.00 to change penne to linguine - Way to nickel and dime your patrons. When walking home, we said to ourselves that we should have put the $200 towards a more expensive and rewarding dinner at Bouchon. *Sigh*
