The lobster risotto was easily one of the best dishes —super creamy, packed with sweet, tender lobster, and balanced out with a little snap from the asparagus. Rich and satisfying without feeling too heavy. The spicy shrimp pasta was just as good. The pasta had the perfect bite, tossed in a creamy sauce with a nice kick. The shrimp were juicy, and the crispy bacon added that extra savory crunch. And the tiramisu! So good. Light, fluffy, not overly sweet—exactly how it should be. We’ll definitely be back.
We were walking down the street when we passed a place called Mizza, and we just couldn’t stay indifferent. And as you already know me… spontaneity and intuition are always the name of the game - and this time, it worked perfectly. Our server, Raphaela, was incredibly sweet. Service was a solid 10/10 - warm, attentive, effortless. The atmosphere was lovely, with soft classical music in the background and warm, elegant wooden decor. And then the food arrived… wow. Wow. Wow. We ordered the Butternut Squash Pasta and the Wild Mushrooms Pizza. What can I say other than that it was amazing? Every bite was a delight - high-quality ingredients, perfectly cooked al dente pasta, and beautifully balanced flavors. The ravioli needed just a touch of Parmesan for a bit more saltiness, and that made it absolutely perfect. At the end, we ordered the tiramisu. It wasn’t a wow moment, just cute (I would recommend trying something else), but it definitely didn’t take away from the rest of the wonderful experience. Thank you so much for the lovely hospitality. More impressions from this visit - and others - can be found on my social: @kimnave
We visited the Court House and decided to take a stroll. That's when we found this lovely establishment. Food is delicious. Service is great. The tiramisu is divine.
The Chicken Marsala is great. The wine sauce is slightly heavier than I thought and the knife is somehow difficult to cut, but overall I like it a lot. Will come back to try other dishes. Comfortable outdoor seating too and nice service.
Stopped in wanting some good California artisan pizza and found it here. We started with an appetizer of shrimp in a garlic and hot chile sauce that was spicy and tasty, accompanied by delicious ciabatta toast. We ordered two pizzas as main courses, one a pepperoni the other a ham, artichoke and black olive, both came out bubbling hot from their oven with tasty fresh ingredients and a crispy, not too thin crust that could hold the toppings and sauce well and a nice flavor to it. The service here was friendly, professional and efficient.
Absolutely loved everything about our dining experience here! Friendly service, relaxing atmosphere, DELICIOUS FOOD! Great Italian restaurant that I highly recommend, even to my gluten free fans! They have in-house made gluten-free bread that they can sub out as well as gluten-free chickpea pasta that can be substituted for any of the pasta dishes. They also do a gluten-free pizza crust or cauliflower pizza crust, which I will be sure to try on my next visit! If you ever find yourself on State Street and looking for a place to eat, I highly recommend coming here, grabbing a table on their outdoor patio, sitting back and relaxing over a lovely meal. PS: be sure to save room for dessert and visit the Danish pastry shop, Andersen’s a few doors down and get yourself a treat! I promise you won’t be disappointed. 😉
We had a fantastic Black Friday lunch on their outdoor patio. The service and ambiance were amazing, second only to the food. I highly recommend the Spicy Shrimp appetizer, and save the sauce for your pizza (to dip!). The Ham, Olive, and Artichoke pizza was fantastic... and for the vegans out there, try the Lemon Spaghetti. Highly recommend this place for anyone walking/shopping on State Street!
We had a great time at MIZZA! The food was delicious - particular standouts were the salmon farfalle and smoked chicken pizza. Prices were reasonable especially for the pizzas. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Santa Barbara.
Loved our dinner at Mizza! The lobster risotto is out of this world! The salmon piccata and beef carpaccio are great too. 5 star service, very friendly and the food and drinks come out quick. Nice wine list. We sat on the dog friendly patio. Definitely recommend didn’t have a wait at 6:30pm.
This was a great Italian restaurant to eat at!! I ordered the “Farfalla + Salmon” and it was very tasty. The pieces of salmon were hot and warm in the pasta. This is something I would definitely order again in the future. Also, the staff here is awesome. My only critique is that parking is a little difficult to find in the area. You may have to walk for 5-10 minutes to reach the restaurant, but it was worth the walk!
Nice restaurant. Great patio, but we were in town during a festival and the street musicians spoiled the atmosphere.
I already love this place. The stuff were really nice and welcoming. It has a nice outdoor space to relax and to chill while you eat. The 5 cheese pizza was amazing. I was actually surprised that a risotto with shrimp would be so good. The place was wonderful to hang out with friends. I’m going back to try their pasta and deserts!
First off we came in at 8pm and after being told they were closed Monica the manager was nice enough to seat us. Service from Seneca was good and the food was spot on. I'm very happy Monica sat us because I would have never came back and now Ive found a spot I can frequent. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, mushroom and leek fettuccine, chicken Marsala and pasta with pink sauce . Everything was delicious and I was completely satisfied. Not to mention the outside tables with a fire pit had the perfect ambiance. Worth a visit. 👍👍

Came here with a group of five for dinner. Our server was super nice. The drinks were good and the overall atmosphere in the restaurant is really cool. We got the prosciutto and peaches app which was really good. For my main I got a gf butternut squash pizza which was BOMB. We were too full for dessert unfortunately but we did get drinks which were also fantastic. I’ll definitely come back here next time I’m in the area.
Food was delicious (prosciutto with apricots, and the short rib ravioli was super tasty, not to mention the broccolini). Paige our server was just incredible, her beautiful energy, smiles and great attitude made our day. I would definitely come back
My wife and I never ate at Mizza until lunch today. Our primary reason was that we dearly loved Willie and Trini Quinn's La Arcada Bistro which occupied that prime Santa Barbara location for years and we were crushed when they closed. Well, we were missing out. Today we had the spicy sausage pizza and the lemon spaghetti. Both were delicious. Given the location and the menu, we will be back.
Nice spot on State Street. Food and service is great. We orderes shrimp, carpaccio and octopus. All of them was delicious. A bottle of peroni beer made me relaxed. Prices are reasonable. If you are hungry and tired of walking, take a step in and enjoy Italian food.
Food was great, lobster risotto and short ribs were amazing. One star off is bc when we paid we found out that credit card surcharge — we didn’t see that on the menu nor did we get notified about it. it’s pretty sad that this is clearly a management failure. I’m sure a lot of customers felt kick into the gut when they were paying after a lovely experience. I would happily tip 20% but not with this. PS I didn’t even use credit card to pay and this is NOT a standard feature for restaurants in California.

This restaurant was lovely. Kitchy live band played during dinner. Our server, Michael, was friendly, attentive, and offered spot on recommendations. The butternut squash ravioli was delicious as well as the cucumber gimlet and the pumpkin espresso martini. Give this place a try!
I can think of several Italian restaurants of similar price in SB that are twice as good. The food itself isn’t bad, just average. In the past I have had their pizza, chicken parm, and several pasta dishes in the hope I was missing something. I don’t think I am. I do go to restaurants for food, so that is the main pull for me. Also what’s with the credit card surcharge fee? Weird I generally would not recommend this place due to multiple better options.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant and I hope the owner addresses it. Service: The worst service I've ever experienced from the two hostess working on December 6th (7pm -9pm) which completely RUINED our night. We were told by the two female hostess (one brunette and one blonde) that there would be a 25 minute wait time which we completely understood. We entered the wait list at 7:16pm but we were seated at 8:13pm. We were informed that it may take a bit longer because we wanted to sit inside which we understood. However, when we were informed by Yelp that were first in line, we continued to wait another 20+ minutes. What made it worse was the fact that the hostess led two parties INSIDE whom had just arrived. This makes no sense as we were first on the waitlist. The two hostess, especially the blonde one from the beginning of the night did not have a good tone or attitude towards my party. After waiting for over an hour, the brunette hostess led us inside to a dirty table that was meant for a party of 6. This made me question the restaurants staff training, why would they have not checked if the table was cleared and cleaned before bringing us there? Furthermore, we were a party of 2, being seated at a table of 6 would not make sense. The hostess said that she could seat us OUTSIDE after we had already waited another hour. If we were going to be seated outside at the end of the night, what was the point of waiting more? The table was extremely rocky and on a slope. I am BEYOND disappointed and will not be returning. Our server (another blonde girl) was amazing but the hostesses ruined our night. It seems like many customers have had terrible experiences with their hostesses based on the reviews. I hope the management addresses this because no one deserved the treatment that we received. Food: The food was not bad but the crust/dough was very rough.
I hate to leave such a horrible rating for such a beautiful business but it's only right when I was discriminated against the moment I arrived. The atmosphere + drinks were 10/10 but the host up front (Mia) was the BIG issue. Very rude and arrogant.. the second I approached her to check in, she had a stern look on her face and she didn't even bother greeting me. Aside from the unfriendly "welcome" + she never added my name or number to the wait list and it was obvious that she did it intentionally. Never received any call or text and I was waiting for an hour or so.. I was in a mesh two piece with a bathing suit underneath (which I understand isn't the best attire for dinner) but for that reason, she felt I didn't deserve to be serviced! Unbelievable.... Very nasty + insecure behavior.. I was on my way back to Los Angeles from a longggg beach day and simply wanted an appetizer as well as a drink but got ridiculed and judged harshly instead. I will say the manager David did his best when it comes to damage control. Sad this was my first experience but it will NOT be my last.

The food at Mizza was delicious, but our experience was overshadowed by how a serious food allergy was handled. We clearly told our server that one person at our table has a dairy allergy and asked for help ordering safely. She checked with the kitchen and confirmed a dish could be made dairy-free, so we felt comfortable proceeding. We were careful throughout the meal, including ordering bread with olive oil instead of butter. Later, after ordering another round of bread, we were told it had butter on it. When we asked about the first bread we had already eaten, the server confirmed it also contained butter. This meant someone with a dairy allergy had unknowingly consumed dairy despite clear communication. What was most disappointing was the lack of management response. No manager came to our table, and when we asked to speak with one, we were told to give feedback to the lead server instead who also was our server. For a guest safety issue, this felt dismissive. Mistakes happen, but food allergy protocols and management follow-up are essential. Because of this experience, we’d hesitate to recommend Mizza to anyone with food allergies.

I ordered the spicy shrimp pasta, and for $27 I expected there to be a generous amount of food on the plate. However, the portion size would only satisfy a small child not an adult. Will not be coming back here.
