Great service great test and excellent chicken
I came here on opening day (08/07/17 First customer!) with the singular purpose of reviewing this place, I had heard the restaurant chain was good. I am obligated to say I was not disappointed in the least. The staff is friendly and the food is a fresh taste to Santa Maria (the spicy chicken, raspberry pies, and biscuits are my favs). This restaurant will provide some much needed competition to certain other chicken restaurants in town. Overall great taste with a nice kick, good staff, clean establishment. Well done to the team here. I'll be coming back here often.
Finally got to try out the chicken sandwich, I had gone 2 times prior during dinner time and they were sold out both times. The sandwich is worth every penny weather you're getting the combo or just the sandwich itself, I highly recommend. The napkins weren't stocked which was a bummer but the service was fast and friendly and the inside was on par with what you would find at a fast food restaurant. 4 star rating for availability of popular chicken sandwich.
The night crew here is great, the day crew, at least the woman taking orders, is garbage. Went today at 12:30pm, the woman taking my order gave me a soda instead of a lemonade, this is the second time this has happened with her, a #3 instead of #1, and blackened ranch instead of ranch. Almost seems like she's messing up on purpose
Check your order before you leave the property. They don’t seem to care if they forget to put part of your order in the bag.
The food is awesome, but the customer service today was beyond bad. The sweet tea was unsweetened so I told an employee and she literally told me " I'll get to it when I can" so no sweet tea for us today. There is trash on the floor and a homeless guy napping in one of the booths. The owner of franchise must be super cheap, because you have to pay 25 cents for any of their sauces and we each were given only 2 napkins and they wouldn't give us any more.
The drive-through experience was unpleasant. The employee was impatient, rude, and unprofessional. As someone who deals with anxiety, I rely on drive-through service to be smoother, low stress option, but this was the opposite. Customer service needs serious improvement.
Read an article Popeyes were closing stores so I decided to support the business. I received terrible customer service and bad quality food. Ordered a family 9 piece tenders, please see pictures below. Now, I remember why I stop eating at Popeyes.Disappointed with the entire experience. Haven’t eaten at Popeyes in 5 yrs until today 1/29/2026 wasted hard earned money. Cashier refused to give me a refund because it was a mobile order. I’m waiting to hear back from corporate.
Just placed an online order, not only did I not get my drink but sauce was missing, chicken was fatty and undercooked, but it’s also impossible to get a refund. 30$ down the drain. (Wait also took forever.)
Food was cold. Enough mayo in 1 wrap for 3 wraps. Bread on sandwich was soggy. Normally wouldn't complain about this location. Maybe an off night.
I ordered a 3 piece and the chicken was raw,not just normal pink. It was slimy. I received a replacement order and at first it seemed it fine. After second it was slimy and smelt funny. This is the second time the chicken is undercooked. The smell is very weird. The skin is fine. You should inspect your chicken from here. Under tge skin especially. That smell isn't normal. The staff was however extremely nice.
Ordered 4 chicken sandwiches and a 10 piece family meal, got charged for it then only received the sandwiches, went back ordered a 10 piece family meal and only got 5 pieces, then I tried calling back got hung up on mid conversation and when I tried calling back I got ignored terrible experience. 100% they will scam you.
Dear Popeyes Customer Service, I am writing to file a formal complaint about a very disappointing experience that happened at your store nearly two weeks ago, and has now happened more than once. I placed an order through the Popeyes app for 8 chicken drumsticks only. Both my order confirmation in the app and the email receipt clearly showed this. However, when I arrived at the store to pick up my order, the food I received was not correct. This is the second time in a row this has happened. My child enjoys Popeyes very much and we usually order 2–3 times per week. That is why I tried to resolve the issue politely with the manager on duty. Unfortunately, the manager refused to correct my order even after I showed her the email receipt and the Popeyes app confirmation. She insisted that their system was different from mine and told me I had to either accept the wrong order or request a refund from the app. When I asked again to speak with the manager, instead of helping me, I was told to leave the store and was even threatened with the police. The police came, but I was not given any chance to properly explain the situation. I had already paid for my food, but I was treated as if I was the problem and told not to return. Despite this, because my child loves Popeyes, I decided to let it go and continued ordering through the app. A few days later, I placed another order, carefully avoiding the same issue, and picked it up without problems. However, when I ordered again two days later, the store refused to give me my food even though I had already paid for it. This treatment is unacceptable. No customer should be mistreated, refused service, or threatened simply for wanting the correct order that they paid for. It seems that this particular manager is abusing her position and treating customers unfairly. I kindly request that: This incident be fully investigated. The store be instructed not to deny service to paying customers. I be refunded for the order(s) I paid for but never received. Popeyes ensure that managers do not mistreat customers in this way again. I hope Popeyes values its loyal customers. My child is very disappointed, and we truly hope to continue enjoying Popeyes if this situation can be resolved fairly.
This will be the third time now that we have come to this Popeyes and the female night manager has been rude. Acting upset having to make tenders at 7:30 pm when they are open until 10:30 pm and has had an attitude all three visits. Unfortunate because I love Popeyes. Won’t be coming to this one again.
Just pulled in on a Sunday at 10:15am. The girl that took our order was extremely short with us and rude. When we pulled to the window to pay. She was extremely impatient for us to take out our card to pay and then as soon as we paid, she told us to get out of the drive through and park in the parking lot. There was not a single hello, how's your day, thank you, or have a good day, and the window workers tone was extremely impatient and rude. I will definitely be following up with corporate number, as I don't expect over the top service since it is just customer service, but I do expect the basic minimum of "customer service" and daily courtesy and respect as a face of a brand. There is a reason I almost never come here. I will definitely be taking my money and business elsewhere.
Sunday October 8, 2023 Popeye's Chicken, Drive Thru Santa Maria, CA. This is our 5th visit to the Santa Maria Popeye's Chicken in 3 months. I have refrained from comments after the previous 4 visits. Over all each of those last visits culminated in our having a significant negative experience. Each negative experience was due to various break downs of customer service, immaturity, irresponsibility, deliberate disrespectful conduct, negative attitudes and general inability to perform simple basic job duties. Unfortunately, today was more of the same. I am not going to spend too much more time on this matter. Other than to say that previous to these 5 unpleasant experiences. We have made several occasional visits over the past 3 plus years. If I were to grade all of those visits on a scale ranging between A+ and F. I would give a grade of C as the lowest end of the scale. Meaning that at the very least. Our experiences were uneventful and commonplace. There was nothing that struck us as being sub-par or above average. On the top end of the scale I would place a grade of B+. Meaning that on some of our visits. There was notable positive(s) in more than one of our experiences. Given the sum total of our own personal Santa Maria Popeye's Chicken patronage. Also taking into consideration the overall employee pool for fast food businesses consists of a high percentage of students with absolutely no previous work experience. They are only able to work a very limited part time schedule and they can't help the fact that they are plain and simple green. Within that group. There are many youngsters in a large sub-group. They too lack many basic attributes such as positive attitudes, maturity, entry level job skills, discipline, enthusiasm, desire, direction, dedication, appreciation, cooperation, the concept of customer service and the comprehension of why customer service is so critical. Also, gratitude for being given a job, humility, and/or work ethic to nave a few. If any business has a majority of these folks within their ranks. It is destined to result in noticeable periods of time where service will plummet then be followed by spans of renewal. This does not need to become a company's identity. Like everything. Change starts at the top. Owners that care, effective managers, management strategy, associate screening and selection, mentoring, training, incentives, accountability, reward and punnishment programs, etc. There are many exceptional, outstanding, responsible, earnest young people wanting jobs. It is the mark of a wise manager to understand this and it is the mark of their true worth. As to how well a manager can recruit, organize, encourage, unite, mentor and develop the raw unbridled talents of our inexperienced, eager, intelligent, future professionals and leaders. This is a terrific opportunity for Popeye's to pick up the baton and challenge themselves. Strive for improvement. Welcome positive growth. Be open to change. Support and encourage each other to seek excellence. Be a humble, active and willing contributor. We will return to Santa Maria Popeye's in 6 months with a genuine desire to see noticeable advancements made regarding the maturity and professionalism of all Popeye's Associates. These advancements will be most obvious in your execution of customer service, positive attitudes, efficiency, teamwork, performance of job duties, leadership and individual position execution, position confidence. So disappointed. We went there specifically for popcorn shrimp and they were out. We were going to leave but were stuck in the drive through so we decided to order a family meal of chicken. They have removed many of their side dishes and were out of one of the few that were left on the menu. The large sides that came with the meal were served in multiple different sized containers but were only half filled. I ordered a small size of mashed potatoes and it wasn’t even filled all the way… only enough for 1 person… literally 3 bites. We ordered chicken tenders and there were a few that were not cooked all the way (pinkish and slimy still). There were signs all over their windows apologizing for their lack of supplies. I’d recommend postponing your visit till they get their ducks back in a row.
