Ordered a blueberry matcha at this little shop full of students and shared space workers. Service was super friendly and quick; the ambiance is mellow, and there was calming music playing.

Super cute place; only one barista was working so it might get a little slow but that's not for lack of trying - order was taken and made asap. Got a mango spritz which is mango, lemonade, and topo chico and I appreciate that it didn't have too much seltzer in the drink that it was biting but enough that you could notice it was there. Relaxing atmosphere and not too loud.

Great!! I recommend everything but the strawberry matcha, i think they use fairlife strawberry milk or something because it wasn’t really the greatest. However, the matcha cinnamon roll muffin was amazing, and so was the banana matcha, the mango sticky rice matcha, and the blueberry! Deinintely recommend THOSE!

Love love love this aesthetic simplistic coffee shop near the beach! all their signature drinks are so good and I love that you can customize their recipes. Service is very friendly and can get busy sometimes but it’s worth the wait!

This place is a GEM! I came here for the Yelp Elite experience and ordered the ceremonial-grade Matcha Einspänner - a strong, iced matcha latte topped with a thick layer of whipped cream. I have never had the same drink in other places that feels high quality and pure in taste. It has a great balance of refreshness from the tea and richness from the cream. I will definitely come back for other coffee drinks! Since it is close to their closing time, they were running out of cheesecake. I ordered an almond croissant instead and it is also very tasty.

This place is pretty cool! It's right across from Santa Monica College so the place was full of people (in case you're thinking of studying there). The pastries seem to be sold out pretty fast, I went at 12 PM and everything was sold out. The staff is really friendly though, I would recommend this if you're in the area. I tried the Turon drink, didn't really taste much banana-like flavor but I want to try the strawberry matcha latte next time.

super friendly worker. love the asian inspired menu, it's so creative and unlike anywhere else in LA. I can't wait to come back here and try more of their drinks. the interior is calming and aesthetic (it could do with a few more tables though). I got the turon banana latte wirh almond milk, it was delicious. it was a tinyyy bit sweeter than I would like but the banana flavor was surprisingly very strong and complimented the bitter notes of the coffee beautifully. I was also pleased at the amount of ice in the drink, as they did not stuff the cup full of ice like most drink shops do to skimp on you. either the owner or I am a little confused though, because I swear the topping is plantain and not jackfruit???

Coffee was great but there weren’t many pastry options, and we got there around 10 am. Cute atmosphere though might be cramped at a busy time. Banana latte was a bit strange - expected some kind of banana cream but it had freeze dried banana and maybe some flavored syrup. Would go again but to try a simple latte. Sesame pastry was very good!

Went in just after they opened on a Saturday morning (having a tire patched down the street) so the place was empty of students. Got a hot macha tea, which was really good on a cold morning. Wish I could have tried one of the pastries that I saw in other reviews but the clerk said they get delivered anywhere between 8 and 10. Free Wifi. Tables are a little short, I'm guessing to discourage students from hogging them by using their laptops (a good thing). Lots of parking available in the strip mall lot and wheelchair accessible. Restroom available (but the door isn't marked). The 4 stars for food isn't based on quality but availability - should be something available for us early birds to eat

Good matcha, but the line always takes long because there is only 1 or 2 people working. Also no vegan cream too/ cold foam option, which is a bummer because that seems to be their specialty. Would really love to see a non-dairy version of the matcha einspanner soon

Unfortunately they ran out of whole milk so my wife had to cancel her order because she can‘t have almond or oat milk. Also the bathroom ran out of paper towel. Maybe they were busy during the weekend and couldn’t stock up their cafe but a little bit disappointing experience. Still the staff was really friendly and even reimbursed the whole amount even of my coffee which tasted really good.

I'm a regular customer, I come multiple times a month and today's experience was really unfortunate compared to previous experiences. I went in the afternoon and when I came in I saw that there were fruit flies in the pastry case so I didn't feel comfortable ordering a croissant like I usually do. When I grabbed napkins and the lid for my coffee I noticed the trash was overflowing. My coffee tasted sour and I had to ask for a new drink because I was worried the plant based milk was spoiled. The worker tried to tell me the milk should taste different and that it is new, and after asking her if it should taste sour she begrudgingly made me a new one. She made me feel bad for telling her the milk tasted sour. This has been the least clean I have seen it. I am hesitant to go back because I cannot afford to get sick from sour milk and though Amai has become a special place for me to get my coffee, I do not think I can remain a customer.

When I came before closing (still during operation hours) a girl told me that they are closed. Everything already seemed cleaned since she started closing earlier. I totally understand the eager to close early since I was a barista in a variety of coffee shops. Although, not in one I closed earlier. Hopefully, you'll review your service guidelines as well as phone availability, so you will not lose customers.

Very disappointed in this place. I showed up for 7am when they are supposed to open to grab coffee quickly before i had to be ay work. The shop was closed, lights off, chairs up, no one even working on opening at. I waited until 7:05 and there was no sign of life. I went out of my way and relied on the hours posted. Big waste of time and I won’t be back. Disappointed.
