Morgan served our lunch today and did a phenomenal job managing us along with all her other tables. Food was hot and fresh and really felt taken care of with the amazing service! 💕👏 We will be back! Heading back home to Seattle now.
My very first time eating here! The service was great. Our server was Jack and he’s a delight. Really great at informing about the menu and the trivia session was fun! Overall, good food, good vibes, & GREAT service!! Thanks Jack!! Also give this man a RAISE!!
Johnny N. served us tonight and he gave us incredible service! he did the trivia with us and it was so fun refreshing my memory on the forrest gump movie 🤭 definitely will come back for him and the food was also sooo good! omg the chicken pasta was sooooo yummy and garlicky 😋 johny also gave us a bunch of LA recs which was sooooo sweet of him❤️
Joshua, the manager went above and beyond to make things right this was a great experience to have a manager here out a customer and just go above and beyond the place is very clean. The stuff is on point and they get your food out fast and it’s warm and delicious. Thank you, Joshua for being the best manager ever
Always great service, great folks and fun atmosphere at the Santa Monica Pier! I love the food here too! I got some clam chowder, some seafood hush puppies and onion rings and THAT did it! My appetite was more than satisfied for about $25! I love those seafood hush puppies, theres nothing like em! The clam chowder with tbose oyster crackers, SMACKS! And those onion rings are crunchy and tasty and fried RIGHT! Come enjoy!
Our server Sam was very attentive on a busy night. Her knowledge of the menu was top notch and answered all my questions quickly and politely. Definitely coming back and asking for her!
our servers name was jack and he was amazing! Super great service, super friendly, and very great trivial questions! Very very funny & will definitely request him as my server again next time! :)
Absolutely outstanding service tonight! Coming from a low country family both the Gumbo and the Crab and Shrimp Cajun Boil were both perfect! If you come be sure to ask for Morgan! She had absolutely amazing energy and took me and my momma from a rough night back to having a great time! Thank you Bubba Gump and Morgan for an amazing night!
I can’t say enough great things about Dayna at Santa Monica Bubble Gump. From the moment our big party of 13 arrived, Dayna made the entire experience feel welcoming, smooth, and genuinely cared for. Her professionalism truly stands out, but what impressed me most was her warm, attentive customer service. She was incredibly timely, respectful on schedule, and made sure everything was handled efficiently without ever feeling rushed. Dayna’s attention to detail and dedication to providing excellent service made all the difference. It’s rare to come across someone who is not only great at what they do, but who also makes you feel valued as a customer. I left feeling extremely satisfied and confident in recommending Dayna at Santa Monica Bubble Gump to anyone looking for exceptional service. I will absolutely be returning when in town. Ask Dayna this joke, what is Forrest Gumps Password.
This Gubba Gump is at a great location in Santa Monica Pier, we have sat downstairs to overlook the ocean walkway to the beach. The food was pretty good, we had one plate of shrimp, steak, veggies, and mashed potatoes, and the other plate was baby back ribs and fries. We felt like we were on vacation because the whole restaurant's guests were mainly tourists. If you are in Santa Monica Pier, please drop by this restaurant.
Our server, Trevor, was so warm and welcoming. Definitely recommend dining here. I wasn’t in the mood for heavy food like pasta, so we got some fried shrimps and fish n chips. They were great!
Bubba Gump’s in Santa Monica is always a great experience. The location right by the pier is unbeatable, with beautiful ocean views that instantly set the mood. The atmosphere is fun, lively, and full of personality—perfect whether you’re with family, friends, or out-of-town visitors. The service was friendly, attentive, and upbeat, which really made the meal enjoyable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d hope for—classic shrimp dishes done right, generous portions, and consistent quality. Everything came out hot and well-prepared. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy the view, and have a genuinely good time. A solid Santa Monica staple that never disappoints. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re near the pier. 🌊🍤
Outstanding food, outstanding service, outstanding vibe. Overall a great experience here. Huge shout out to our server Johnny N. He did a wonderful job, kept us happy, and even made conversation with us. He made the experience fun with some triva throuout our meal which was exciting. His attitude and personality were amazing. 10/10
I was pleasantly surprised by this find. Despite being in a prime tourist location, it avoids the exorbitant prices you'd usually expect. It has a nostalgic 90s feel that’s really charming. The servers were kind and attentive throughout our meal. If you're in Santa Monica, this is a must-visit—I know I'll be returning!
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was an amazing experience! The food was delicious, especially the shrimp dishes, which were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The themed atmosphere made the whole visit even more enjoyable. A special shoutout to our server, Jack, who went above and beyond. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right throughout our meal. His excellent service truly made the experience stand out. Between the great food, fun environment, and Jack’s top-notch service, this is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!
Sure! Here’s a polished, positive review you can use or post anywhere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. thanks to the outstanding service. From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The food came out hot, fresh, and exactly as ordered, and the atmosphere was fun and lively. You can really tell they care about their guests. This was hands down some of the best service I’ve had at a restaurant—I’ll definitely be coming back! If you want it shorter, more casual, or to mention a specific server or location, I can tweak it for you. 🍤😊 Dee was the best server in the world
We usually don’t go to restaurants on the pier because of the crowds, but this was a surprisingly pleasant experience! The food was pretty good, unremarkable, but what you’d expect. What WAS standout though was our server Dina. The place was pavked and you could tell the staff was overwhelmed. Despite the rush Dina was so kind, personable, and patient! Grateful for a rare moment of actually good customer service!
Our waiter Jack made the experience great. He was hosting, waiting, and entertaining! He was the only one tending the bottom floor and did so flawlessly. We appreciate the customer service and attention. The kind of service that makes you want to return.
Food was really delicious, my wife ate calamari’s and I ate the chicken with smashed potatoes and corn. We can recommend both dishes! The service and staff is extremely fast and really welcoming. The only strange thing was after we finished with the food they brought the bill without that we requested it (or wanted to leave 😅)
Trefor was the best server ever!! give that man a raise. our dining experience was a 10/10 and we had a lot of fun playing the quiz! the food came out in a timely manner, and he was very attentive to our sign-switching! the food tasted delicious, and we had a great time— we’ll never forget it!
We had an amazing first time experience. We were served by Trevor B, he was excellent and provided great recommendations as there are so many things on the menu that looked really interesting. We will definitely be coming back to try out the other Devine options and to experience the wonderful customer service hopefully from Trevor and or the other wonderful staff members.
While strolling along the beach, my wife and I often find the salty air and gentle waves working up quite an appetite. This time, we decided to try out a new spot for lunch. Bubba Gump Shrimp has quickly become our favorite place for dining and drinks. The food was incredible, each dish a delightful surprise, and the drinks were perfectly refreshing. The service was outstanding, making our experience even more enjoyable. I especially loved the open views of the ocean.
We always stop in when visiting the area. Although some of the faces change, the experience does not. The staff is always welcoming, and attentive. They definitely make the experience worthwhile. The food is fresh, flavourful, and served in a timely manner. We have visited a few locations across the USA & Canada and can say without a doubt this is our favourite location.
Had such a wonderful time with absolutely amazing food, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the exceptional service from ALEXIS. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her positive energy and professionalism made the whole experience 100% better. Couldn’t have asked for better service — thank you, ALEXIS!
Love here so much ! Such a fantastic spot to visit! The sunset views are absolutely breathtaking, providing the perfect backdrop to relax and unwind. Whether you’re enjoying the outdoors on the patio or taking in the view from inside, the atmosphere is laid-back and inviting. The cocktails and food are just as impressive. The drinks are well-crafted, with a great selection to suit any taste. The food is fresh, flavorful, and offers a variety of options that will satisfy everyone. It’s the perfect place to spend a leisurely evening with friends or a loved one. With its combination of great food, refreshing drinks, and stunning views, it’s definitely a must-visit in Santa Monica.
I recommend!!! Great portions, great food and super fresh shrimp. I’d come back any time. I went the first week of may to have lunch, they only do reservations for 4 up people. So if you’re 2 just go for it. The service is really good. You can see the beach and the ocean from the window (down stairs)
My friends and I were 5 people, and we had a great time! Our food all came out delicious and pretty quickly. It was some of our first times, so our server, Tristan, did a little trivia with us, which was really fun. He gave excellent service and made our experience great!
We had the good luck to arrive just as the afternoon crowd went home and before the evening rush hit. The relative quiet gave us time to relax and enjoy a drink before dinner, consider all the wonderful choices on the menu, and watch the staff at work. They all hustled all the time, yet found time to perform as gracious hosts. We were especially impressed Dee, who anticipated our every need almost before we did, yet somehow never seemed intrusive. The food was great as usual — the shrimp dishes of course, as well as the ribs, salads, and soup. We will be back.
Bubba Gump Shrimp in Santa Monica is one of my kiddo’s favorite places to eat, and honestly, what’s not to love? The menu is very kid friendly. The staff keeps things fun with their Forrest Gump trivia questions. And the ocean views are spectacular. Our server tonight was Tristan, and he was fantastic. Even on a busy Monday night, he made us feel like rock stars. He was attentive and upbeat. I also have to mention my favorite dish, the salmon with the Maker’s Mark sauce. It's so good.
Run Forst Run! If you visit Santa Monica pier at the evening you should definitely visit Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and get yourself some amazing seafood. 🍤 My wife didn’t know about this place but now is a fan of it. She loved the pasta with shrimp and garlic bread. I had the mashed potato’s with fish and shrimp and guys this definitely is some good tasting stuff. Very good seasoned and cooked on point. Why 4* for the atmosphere? Because it was a bit loud inside but not too bad. We recommend this place!
I haven't been to this one in a very long time. We went for my mom's birthday. This place was nice and friendly, our waiter and guest sang happy Birthday. It was a nice crowd, a nice view on the pier. I had the shrimp and crab boil. It was okay a little bland not enough seasoning. We also had steak, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and salmon and mashed potatoes
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is the world’s only restaurant chain officially inspired by the 1994 film *Forrest Gump*. It opened its first location in Monterey, California, in 1996. The Santa Monica Pier branch debuted in 1999 right at the end of historic Route 66. The restaurant sits on the pier itself, directly over the Pacific Ocean. Its bright yellow and blue exterior is impossible to miss. The entire concept is built around Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue, Forrest’s best friend and shrimp-obsessed Army buddy. Bubba (played by Mykelti Williamson) famously recites an endless list of shrimp recipes while sitting on a log with Forrest. That single scene became the soul of the brand. Inside, you’re surrounded by movie memorabilia: the original bench, Forrest’s suitcase, ping-pong paddles, the box of chocolates, and Bubba’s Army cap. Every table has two license-plate signs: “Run, Forrest, Run!” (for fast service) and “Stop, Forrest, Stop!” (when you need the waiter). As expected, the menu is almost entirely shrimp-focused. Signature dish: “Bubba’s After the Storm Bucket” – a metal pail of peel-and-eat shrimp, lobster claws, corn, and potatoes. The most famous item is “Forrest’s Favorite Shrimp” – hand-battered, fried, and served with fries and coleslaw. “Jenny’s Catch” is a lighter baked or grilled shrimp option with garlic butter. The “Shrimp Shack Mac & Cheese” mixes shrimp with three cheeses and a crispy topping. Non-shrimp classics include Mama Blue’s Southern Charmed Fried Shrimp and the “Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp” with Cajun marmalade. You can order the “Lieutenant Dan’s Drunken Shrimp” – sautéed with rum and served over rice. The “That’s Some Shrimp” platter feeds 2–4 people with five different shrimp preparations. For non-seafood eaters, there are ribs, fish & chips, burgers, and a decent grilled salmon. Kids get a “Ping Pong Menu” with mini corn dogs and chicken tenders shaped like ping-pong paddles. Drinks are playful: the “Run Across America” smoothie series and the glowing “Bubba’s Blue Hawaiian.” The signature drink is the “Shrimper’s Heaven” – a huge frozen margarita layered with mango and strawberry. The upstairs balcony offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the pier Ferris wheel, and sunset over Malibu. On windy days you can literally feel the pier sway while eating shrimp. The gift shop sells everything from “Run Forrest Run” T-shirts to boxes of chocolates stamped with the movie quote. Servers quiz guests on *Forrest Gump* trivia for fun (and sometimes free shrimp). It’s touristy by design, but locals still come for the view and nostalgia. Prices are typical theme-restaurant level (most shrimp entrees $19–$29). The Santa Monica location is one of the chain’s busiest and most photographed. In short, it’s a full-immersion celebration of Bubba’s dream: “Shrimp is the fruit of the sea… you can barbecue it, boil it, broil it…” – and they really do all that and more.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is one of the more popular places to eat in Santa Monica. I haven’t actually watched Forrest Gump (I know, I know), but you don’t really need to—the theme still totally works. Since it was a bit early for dinner, the wait was only about 5 minutes. But when we finished (around 5pm), the line had gotten noticeably longer. Great atmosphere, and the staff were upbeat and genuinely friendly. The fun part is the little sign on each table: when you need your server (to order, ask for something, or get the check), you flip it to “Stop Forrest Stop.” If you don’t need anything, you flip it to “Run Forrest Run.” Apparently those are iconic lines from the movie. They usually explain this when they seat you, but if it’s busy, it seems like they sometimes forget. I actually saw a tourist waiting forever because they didn’t know the rule, so no one came to take their order. Overall: good vibes and the food is solid. If you’re heading to Santa Monica Pier, it’s definitely worth a stop.
The view was amazing🥹 If you take a seat by the window, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Santa Monica Beach One of the servers knew some Japanese words, so I talked with him a bit He was really nice We ordered too much, but they packed up the leftovers nicely, so we ate fried shrimp and nachos later on the beach😂🍤
Dayna was our server and she did such an amazing job for my big family of 13. She was patient, knowledgeable, and so friendly. She came to check on us often, made sure we had our drinks, the kids had their food, and overall made sure we had everything we ordered. My daughter even told her a joke and she was kind enough to entertain her and played along. The joke being: What is Forest’s password. She made the entire first time experience a joyful and memorable one for us…most definitely I’d come again if she is our server! The food was also so good! We got the seafood boil and My husband doesn’t really eat seafood but he ate the whole thing! The sampler was my favorite. The queso cheese dip is def thee one. You can’t skip on the strawberry shortcake either! You’ll be sorry if you do. For sure one of the best customer service with an amazing atmosphere and the good to complement . Thanks for everything, Dayna!
As a fan of Forrest Gump I was really excited to get to know this place! It was Amazing! The ambiance is fun rich in details, the service is quick and friendly. I wish I could remember the name of our server, she was great. I loved the pop quiz about the movie at the end!. The food is sooo delicious, we ordered the Forrest's feast and the Shrimp heaven. Don't skip dessert the Lava cake is out of this world!
I have to make a review for my queen MORGAN!! Ok so my boyfriend and I came here in the middle of the day for a quick drink and lunch before we went to ride the Ferris Wheel. I will say we both have worked in the service industry and we were in someone else’s section and waiting a bit lmao. She saw us and waiting and came to take our order, which was kind since she didn’t have to do that:) She came by right away with the absolute sweetest vibe and demeanor ever. I am so happy she ended up being our server because she was on top of it and would ask for drink refills before we were even done! She also quizzed us on trivia and was just all around a great time, reminded us we had souvenir cups and packed everything up for us. Morgan if you read this-YOU ARE THE SWEETEST. You honestly made our day and we are friends now. Pls give her a raise or shout out or something because she is IT! You rock Morgan 10/10 stay golden.
Last week was my first time to try this restaurant! This bubba gump is inspired by movie Forest Gump. You can find the movie’s detail or photos of movie inside of restaurant! All the servers was the Best ever in my life!👍🏻 Especially the female server in first floor who usually make the jin and whisky, looks like asain gorgeous black hair woman was so lovely! I didn’t have to reserve due to eating alone but if you are group guest you might better get reservation first! I wish I could remember her name😿 Tasty also great!
Bubba Gump in Santa Monica was such a wonderful surprise, we were genuinely impressed. The retro atmosphere, movie photos everywhere and fun details instantly bring Forrest Gump to life. The food was great, fresh and flavorful, and the service was truly outstanding, friendly, attentive and welcoming. They also have a fun store where you can buy souvenir shirts, caps and other items with iconic catch phrases from the movie. Overall, it was such a great experience and a place that leaves you smiling long after you leave. Definitely worth visiting
We visited this spot in the evening, about 30–45 minutes before closing at 10 PM, right off the Santa Monica Pier. The service was excellent the staff was very friendly without being intrusive. I loved the unique ordering system with the Forrest Gump flip sign it’s a fun touch and helps servers know when you’re ready. The food was absolutely fabulous. We had the chicken, which was tender and flavorful, and our salad was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. We’ve also eaten at their L.A./Universal location, which was equally impressive. Overall, great service, great food, and a welcoming environment I’ll definitely be coming back!
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at Santa Monica Pier is such a fun experience! The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with great views and a strong Forrest Gump movie vibe everywhere you look. The food was really good—fresh shrimp dishes, tasty sides, and well-made drinks. The staff keeps the energy up and makes the whole visit even more enjoyable. If you’re a fan of the Forrest Gump film, you’ll love all the references and details. Overall, a great place for a fun meal, good drinks, and a memorable time on the Pier of Santa Monica 💯👍🏻🦐🍤
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co was a pleasant dining experience! I was surprised at how the service was excellent, dishes were scrumptious and beverages delish. I was expecting this touristy restaurant to be less, but was delighted that I was wrong. It was a fun lunch, especially the method of communicating to your server that you have a need or letting them know you're good, no attention needed. See the attached pics of fun method! Overall, I was delighted! Truly!
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. – a great restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier. Atmospheric and nicely decorated. Very good, attentive service. Excellent shrimp served in many different ways. Prices are appropriate for the quality. A nice SMS notification system that lets you know when your table is ready. I've had a great time there! Highly recommended!
🍤 Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Santa Monica Pier – Crispy Fish & Chips, Forrest Gump Vibes & Route 66 End of the Trail 🎬🇺🇸 While walking along the Santa Monica Pier, we suddenly found ourselves craving classic fish & chips, and stepping into Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. felt like the perfect choice for the moment. The first thing that stands out is the design and atmosphere. The entire restaurant is fully themed around the legendary movie Forrest Gump, and it’s done in a fun, immersive way. Movie quotes, military references, framed scenes, props, and signs are everywhere. The famous Forrest Gump bench is a major attraction, and you’ll see guests lining up to take photos, adding to the lively, tourist-driven energy that fits the pier perfectly. A useful pro tip: instead of waiting for a table, we chose to sit at the bar, which turned out to be a smart move. It saved us about 30 minutes of waiting time, especially during a busy period. The bar seating was comfortable, service was quick, and it’s a great option if you’re hungry and don’t feel like standing in line while the pier is packed. Food-wise, the fish & chips were solid and enjoyable. The fish was crispy, fresh, and served hot, paired with fries, a tasty tartar sauce on the side, and a small portion of coleslaw. Simple, comforting, and well executed — exactly what you want in this setting. For drinks, the Skinny Margarita was light and pleasant, not overly sweet, while the club soda with lime was refreshing and clean, especially after walking by the ocean. The place was busy but well managed, the restrooms were clean, and there’s also a large souvenir shop packed with Forrest Gump and Bubba Gump merchandise if you’re into memorabilia. Before leaving, don’t forget to walk a few steps and visit the iconic Route 66 – End of the Trail sign right near the pier — a must for road trip lovers and photographers. Overall, this is not fine dining, but it’s a fun, iconic Santa Monica experience with decent food, strong movie nostalgia, smart seating options, and an unbeatable location. Definitely worth a stop if you’re already on the pier.
We have wonderful time there. I don't know his name, but the server is really kind and nice. As we were pondering the menu, he appeared and provided a detailed explanation of the menu. It was very helpful, and we had a pleasant meal. After finishing the meal, he didn't forget to give us two cups. It seems like they give it to us when we order a specific cocktail and we were happy to receive a surprise gift. The store also offers quizzes about the Forrest Gump movie, you can participate that! Wish you have great time in there.
Stopped by the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Santa Monica and had an absolutely delightful experience. I ordered the Stuffed Shrimp that was perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and paired so well with the rice and garlic bread. To top it off, I enjoyed a refreshing Bud Light served in their signature 20oz souvenir glass (which of course, I took home!). The atmosphere was full of charm, nostalgia, and Forrest Gump vibes, from the iconic photo spot to the playful movie references throughout the space. Staff were friendly, the service was quick, and the view of Santa Monica just adds to the whole experience. Highly recommend stopping here whether you’re hungry or just feeling a little “Run, Forrest, Run!” energy.
📍Bubba Gump | Highly Recommended! I honestly didn’t come here because of the hype — in fact, I had no idea how popular it was until I got here 🔥. But after trying the food, I can confidently say: it totally lives up to the reputation! 🦐 We ordered just the Shrimper’s Net Catch, and it was incredibly fresh — sweet, flavorful, and not fishy at all. Absolutely delicious! 👨🍳 The staff were super friendly (and yes, pretty good-looking too 😄). 🥤 The drink cups are really fun — they stack on top of each other and can get super tall! Outside, there’s also a merch shop with souvenirs and cute photo ops 📸. ✅ Overall, a fantastic dining experience — great food, fun atmosphere, and excellent service. Totally worth a visit!
I went here today, and I gotta say that it was better than I expected. I was seated right away and the waitress was really nice. I ordered a Shrimp Po Boy and it was absolutely delicious. Wait time for the food was about 10 minutes more or less. Only thing for me that was a “downside” was that I had to wait a while before they were ready to take my order. (Then again, the place was kind of full). But other than that, the atmosphere is good, and is full of nostalgia and memories of the movie and other things. I would definitely go here again.
Great place to eat! Food is pricy buts it’s California so what do you except? I got the stuffed shrimp and it was amazing! I absolutely loved how it tasted. One of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. The restaurant is super fun and welcoming inside. Other then the rude people on the pier and dealing with them I suggest coming here for all of your seafood needs
First time coming and really excited to try it. kids menu had lots of options for my daughter to choose from she was very happy to see ribs on kids menu but she still chose cheeseburger. I had mama’s shrimp and boyfriend had fried chicken breast plate. Everything tasted good. My only complaint is the seating, tables very cramped and visitors, staff everyone kept bumping into our table when passing by, also took a very long time to bring our drinks. Seems disorganized. Location on beach is amazing. Weather very nice and complimentary ice cream was nice as well.
The vibe was great, our server was attentive and friendly, the food I ordered was okay, the shrimp was over cooked in the shrimp scampi and Mac & cheese with shrimp. The fish & chips was great, fresh and not over battered. The lemonade was good, just a little on the sweet side. Over all the experience was nice.
Food was good and came out really quickly once we placed our order. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice especially the seats looking out to the beach. Dee was so kind and very helpful! Would came again!
Johnny, our server, was wonderful. Very friendly and engaging. We originally asked for a booth, but were lit at a table for 6 (as a party of 2), in the middle of a very noisy room. But we were glad to have been sat I. Johnny’s section by the end of the meal.
certainly one of the most iconic chain of restaurants inspired by the movie, we were pretty thrilled to dine in here, and i definitely entertained myself with the plethora of novelties and references to the movie. the food arrived pretty quickly, and i personally really enjoyed the salmon. i genuinely think this was the best salmon i've had, it was simply seasoned to perfection, and satisfied every tastebud on my tongue. the broccoli however, was pretty bitter and distinct, probably because it was yellowing. i was surprised i was served 'fresh vegetables' like this. i didnt die but the presentation and taste would have been so much better with a fresh batch. my friend got the soup and ribs, which as per his words, were only mediocre. a decent experience, but considering the abundance of food options around, i do not think it warrants a second visit.
Stopped by for some appetizers and drinks. We ordered the fried chicken/shrimp, the shrimp cocktail, and the tortilla chips + dip. All of it was quite good. The fried chicken was super juicy and in a tasty batter. Shrimp cocktail tasted fresh. Dip was a slight twist on spinach artichoke, so can't go wrong. The cocktails were good, but personally I thought the ones that we ordered were a bit sweet (lava flow and paradise tiki tea). Overall, things were pricey (as expected), but were surprisingly good. We came at night, but the location offers great views of the beach and pier by the windows.
I loved Bubba Gump Shrimp Co because it is authentic. It's based on the movie Forest Gump, what's not to love. I had Lieutenant Dan's Pork Ribs and Shrimp. The price was high, food was mediocre, service was excellent. If you've never ate here and want to, just do it. Then, you will know.
Visited this restaurant while visiting family in the Area. First of all you can’t beat the location of the place. It’s right on the Santa Monica pier with a view of the ocean. That automatically makes the vibe and the atmosphere great. Since I am a Landry’s Member I was seated pretty quickly. However, given the location the place is always packed so plan to wait to be seated. The staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of choices for seafood lovers. The food was great and hot when it came out to our table. Prices are reasonable for the area. Definitely worth checking out. Will come back when I visit family again.
Forest gump themed, anyone familiar with the movie will like the references. Good seafood, reasonable prices, nothing extraordinary but tasty. Nice cocktails as well, better than other places around the area. If you are at the pier, definitely worth it to eat here but not a place you should go out of your way to visit.
Food is rather ok (only steak could be less fat🫣) but drinks was terribly sweet… I felt only ice and sugar no other flavours… too bad:( The thing which was very unique was an atmosphere of this place… Everywhere some Forrest Gump links… very nice:) for the movie’s fans it’s quite nice experience… especially staff is trying very hard… even make a little quiz about the movie knowledge😂
We popped in on a rainy day. The restaurant wasn't very busy, which was nice. Food was well made, portion sizes were big enough for a to go box and service was relaxed and friendly. The restaurant is on the pier and offers ocean views and pet friendly accommodations. The staff was working through computer problems and water leaks from the rain.
Had dinner here with some friends and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and the place is nicely themed, just like the movie Forrest Gump. We had to put our names down and wait about 15–20 minutes, but it was worth it. There’s also a souvenir shop right next door which adds to the experience. Be aware they add an 18.5% tip/tax, but they let us know beforehand. Overall, fun atmosphere and good service.
The food was amazing with excellent service, spectacular view and awesome ambience. Probably people who doesn’t like the flavor of the sea food might not have much of options but sea food lovers would love this incredible place. The lobster sub is the must have thing very yummy and made very well!
Aweee! What a cool place!!!!! I finally got myself to go try Bubba’s, it was such a cool experience!!! We ordered different dishes, and all were pretty good!!!! I definitely recommend watching the movie before or after you go to make the experience even better!!! The service was pretty good and the location is just the best!
I’ve been to several Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. locations over the years, including the one in Los Angeles and one in Colorado, and I’ve always had friendly experiences. During this visit, I was especially delighted that we were able to be seated even though our entire group hadn’t arrived yet. We had a hard time finding parking, but thankfully it all worked out in the end. Since we were a large group, service took a little longer than we anticipated, which we completely understood. Our server, Dean, was very friendly and attentive, which made the experience pleasant. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t quite as great as I remembered, and my dish was extremely spicy. Dean kindly took it off the bill and made sure I received something that worked better for me, and I didn’t have to pay the difference. I truly appreciated that level of customer care. All of the staff were super friendly, and the restaurant — including the restrooms — was very clean. I also want to mention how kind they were in accommodating our mom, who was having difficulty with the stairs. They opened the gates for her, which meant a lot to us. Thank you for making it a memorable experience.
This was our first time visiting this location, and it did not disappoint. The wait was surprisingly quick, only about 10 minutes around 7:30pm. Which was impressive for dinner hours! The time passed even faster because the scenery alone was something worth taking in and checking out while waiting. A return visit to one of our favourite restaurants was nothing short of amazing. The food was delicious and the service was equally enjoyable. Alfredo did a wonderful job taking care of our table. There was one small moment where we had asked for extra sauce that was unfortunately forgotten and never brought out, but aside from that he was incredibly attentive. Especially when it came to refills and checking in throughout our meal. Overall, it was a great experience and we’re already looking forward to coming back again.
We were on the pier and stopped in because its a cool concept. I ordered the shrimp jambalaya and was quite disappointed. The shrimp out of all things was overcooked and rubbery. My wife ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich which was delicious. The service was good and the atmosphere is also good. There's many things in the restaurant that relate to the forest Gump movie.
Well, I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the food, the presentation of it and overall service. Ordered 1 starter and 3 entrees and all of them were pretty ordinary and not worth the value for money. If you are a die hard Forrest Gump fan, then they come and ask you trivia, sadly they totally missed us. My suggestion is stay away.
The service was fair if I am being generous. At first, the server was attentive, but after ordering, it took a while to get the food. There was never a check-in to see how the food was. I had to stop our server every time to ask for whatever I needed. It was bizarre because there weren’t that many tables with guests, so it seems as if he would have had time to check back with us. Our plates were cleared after eating. We weren’t asked if we wanted dessert. Thinking the bill would be given to me shortly, we waited over 15 minutes. Finally, I asked for it. It took another 10 minutes once I got the bill and gave them my card before the receipt was returned to the table to sign. My food was also burnt underneath. I have been here before, and this was by far the worst it has ever been. My family member and I were here for over 2 hours. All we ordered were 2 main course meals and 2 bar drinks. Kind of ridiculous! It was also pricey as our bill was almost $100.00 including tip. My plate was almost $30.00. I think the price per portion for the quality was a lot. I guess that is what you pay on the pier!
Excellent location, right in the middle of the pier, great and fast service. Some very interesting seafood options, beautifully presented, and the fried food was very well cooked. I loved the sign system to let you know if you need a waiter. The only downside is that we felt it lacked seasoning. The food was beautiful and cooked to a suitable temperature, but without much flavor. I'll give it 3 stars for everything else—especially the view and service, which were the strong points—but I wouldn't return for the food, which was the main reason we went.
This restaurant is inspired by the movie Forrest Gump, one of my all-time favorites. The inside is decorated with photos and scenes from the movie, which is really nice and instantly brings you back to the film. The food, however, was pretty average and not quite worth the price. The kids’ meal was cute and came served in a little boat, which they enjoyed. I ordered the Cajun shrimp as an appetizer — it was okay. For my entrée, I got the grilled chicken sandwich, which was also just average. Most of the dishes on the menu are fried. We also tried the Bourbon St. Mahi Mahi & Shrimp, and it was just okay as well, missing depth and flavor. Overall, a fun theme and great nostalgia, but the food itself was average.
Waiter was friendly, we got our food, husband clowder was great my shrimp were cold, they got me new ones but came after my husband finished eating. The manager brought out the 2nd one which were good and hot but then for the bill and they were charging me twice for them. Told waiter and they removed one. NOT Impressed.
The food at Bubba Gump Shrimp was actually good, which makes this review frustrating to write. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by poor service from an employee named Nikki. When we first walked in, we let her know we needed a few minutes to look over the menu before ordering. Instead of checking back, she completely ignored us for over 15 minutes. When we finally flagged her down and asked if we could order, she responded with, “Well, you said you didn’t want to order.” That is not what we said we only asked for time to review the menu. When she did take our order, her attitude made it feel like she was doing us a favor just by helping us. As customers spending over $40, we expected basic courtesy. Her demeanor honestly made us consider leaving. It’s disappointing because this was our first time visiting, and the service really ruined what could have been a great experience. If someone doesn’t enjoy interacting politely with guests, customer service may not be the right fit.
NEVER AGAIN will i ever eat at this establishment. the table and menus were not properly wiped down. there were THREE dead flies on the table. AND in the middle of eating my rice i found lint/dust! when i asked the server about it, he said it was “cheese” from the shrimp. 1) why would it be DEEP in the middle of my rice if it were from the shrimp. 2) what kind of cheese looks like that?? 3) i KNOW it was lint and dust because it was HAIRY and actually dusty. they did not want to do anything about it. the food was cold as well. 0/10. i feel sick.
I’m giving a bad review because of the staff in the dining area. They seated me at a wet table, and I had to wipe it down myself with paper towels. No one came to take away the used towels from my table. The dish I ordered was tasty. Come on, folks, it’s not that hard to wipe the table
We had the most bad experience at this place Bubba Gumps at the Santa Monica Pier. The server was not what a server should be. Didn’t know what they were doing. I’ve never been to a place this bad before. We ordered food and they supposedly lost our ticket. They had everything so messed up. My grandson is 6 and very hungry and had to wait an hour and a half to even eat. Not professional at all. I talked to three managers mind you. My food was like thrown around and had sauce all over that I never asked for and took it back and just replaced the paper underneath supposedly. And when they brought it back out it was the same and expected me to eat it. I wasn’t and I wasn’t paying for it which I didn’t. My other grandkids and daughter’s food wasn’t brought out until one hour and 45 minutes. The staff is so screwed up. They didn’t give a care for what they did. They kept bringing out food we didn’t even order. All the food we ordered wasn’t good or right. I do not recommend eating at this one. I’ve been to other different Bubba Gumps and never did I get this kind of treatment. People that came in after us ordered food and got it ate and left way before we got ours. Very unprofessional
