I enjoyed my stay at the Viceroy and especially enjoyed their offerings at the Sugar Palm. Great service! We dined at the bar on a beautiful outdoor day in Santa Monica. Super chill vibe, poolside, and thankful for the yummy recommendations by our server. I wish I got her name but she recommended the tacos and they were delightful. The poke bowl was so colorful and beautiful and the avocado toast was tasty and plentiful. Would eat here again when I'm in town.
Absolutely delicious and fresh food! We stayed at Viceroy so every morning breakfast was at Sugar Palm. Nice ambience, indoor and outdoor seating, bar seating as well. Staff were welcoming and very friendly, they make sure your experience is great. Kids loved the food too!
Was in the LA area for business and decided to go to Santa Monica for a morning walk and breakfast. Sugar Palm did not disappoint. It is inside a hotel right across from the beach- near the pier. Service was excellent- very attentive staff and you cannot go wrong with a “Dutch Baby” I was pleasantly surprised to see this gem on the menu and it’s a five star for sure. The outside patio looks very inviting, it was a cool over-cast morning, so we dined inside. Parking on premises is available or grab a spot on the street behind the hotel, if the beach spots are taken.
**An Unforgettable Anniversary at Sugar Palm - Five Stars** My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at Sugar Palm in the Viceroy Hotel, and I'm still glowing from the experience. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this wasn't just dinner – it was a carefully orchestrated celebration of love itself. The staff didn't just serve us; they became co-conspirators in making our evening magical. When they learned we were celebrating our anniversary, the entire team seemed to take personal investment in our joy. Our server anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them, refilling glasses with perfect timing and offering thoughtful recommendations that showed they'd truly listened to our preferences. The surprise touches throughout the evening left us speechless. The chef's complimentary amuse-bouche paired perfectly with champagne that appeared "on the house," and the handwritten anniversary card from the team felt genuinely heartfelt, not corporate. When dessert arrived with a delicate sparkler and "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate across the plate, I watched my partner's eyes fill with tears of happiness. But what moved me most was how the staff created space for intimacy while remaining attentively present. They seemed to understand that great service isn't just about efficiency – it's about reading the room, honoring the moment, and helping create memories that will last a lifetime. The lighting, the pacing, even the way they positioned our table – everything felt intentionally crafted to let us focus on each other while feeling utterly cared for. The food itself was extraordinary – each dish a perfect balance of innovation and comfort that sparked conversation and delight. But honestly, it was the human touches that transformed a beautiful meal into something transcendent. Sugar Palm and the Viceroy team didn't just exceed our expectations; they reminded us why celebrating love matters. In a world that often feels hurried and impersonal, they created a pocket of time where we felt seen, valued, and celebrated. That's not just exceptional hospitality – that's artistry. We'll be back, and we'll be telling everyone about this special place that understands that some meals are about so much more than food.
This restaurant allows you to enjoy very unique and universal food at the same time. I highly recommend Shishito Pepper and Agedaishi Tofu! It has really good vibe and spacious and neat space. I love here and visit 2 times formy 5 nights stay.
Inside Viceroy hotel. Meteted 3 hour street parking behind hotel on Main St. (Near Pico) was really easy. Went for the DineLA dinner. Deconstructed cheesecake was phenomenal! You must try this. Sooo sooo soo good ( yes that goood lol!) as was the food ordered - octupus and shrimp pasta! Not a big fan of the date flan w ice cream though- good not great. The ambience classy casual and refreshing. Nice upbeat music, very conversation friendly level. Love the fire pit and cabana look. Oh and our house white wine was smooth. Hidden inside the hotel but a Winner!
Great little restaurant inside the Viceroy boutique hotel in Santa Monica (Pico & Ocean.) I used to go to Dinah's in Culver City to get the German pancake but no more. I loved the Dutch pancake here. Our group of 5 ordered the following: Dutch pancake, Loco Moco, The chicken sandwich (jidori chichen!), BLT and the omelette. I wish i took a pic of everyone's dishes. Everything was tasty and reasonably priced. The restaurant has booth indoor and outdoor (poolside) seating. Dog-friendly too. The coffee (black) was excellent. Update (5/8/25): My coworker and I had a quick lunch. It was a spectacular day. I had the short-rib grilled cheese sandwich with their yummy fries, and my worker had the Caprese salad with a side of salmon. We finished with a cappuccino and chocolate Gelato. Perfect 👌.
We had the Happy Hour Lamb Leg Berra Tacos, Steamed Mussels and Grilled Asparagus. The Tacos were so good we had to get a second order 😋🌮 Such a pretty restaurant located inside the Viceory Hotel. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor area have a fireplace. Happy Hour Daily 3pm-6pm
Came here w/ my girl for Dinner. Great Little hidden gem. You would need to definitely look for it as it is in the hotel. Food Was fantastic, I would recommend the Crab cake Arancini ( no picture since we ate it quickly), Scallop risotto and the Pork burned ends as well as the Flatbread. For dessert we had the Vegan Coconut Baklava which they substituted for the vegan creme brulee and was definitely good with the vegan Coconut gelato (again we ate it without taking a pic). Seemed a little quiet but peaceful. Will be coming back!
Took my parents here for a pleasant breakfast outdoors. We ordered the Dutch Baby Pancake, Burrata and Beets, and Salmon Avocado Toast. It was delicious. Our waitress Zana was superb— very attentive and prompt service. We would absolutely be back!
Loved being outside at the sugar palm! We sat at the bar and had a happy hour treat. Great cocktails + bites. We were even able to get poolside glasses and take them over to the pool. Loved the blood orange margo and the Moscow mule. Very fresh, and a wonderful staff!
It seems Sugar Palm has had a recent chef change; food is excellent. Cocktails are also tasty and attractively arranged. Outdoor patio, top! Don't miss this hidden gem.
Came here for a date night with friends and we enjoy everything. Good atmosphere and food & beautiful decorations. Love the presentation of the dishes, so pretty.
Friendly staff! I had a great breakfast. Average prices for LA, not too expensive. There’s outdoor and indoor seating. We sat indoors, the lobby of the hotel is heated, so it’s nice if it’s cold outside. Food came quick and it’s made with quality ingredients, would recommend any day for breakfast
A friend and I tried the Saturday night Happy Hour. Warren was our server. He was attentive to our needs on the patio. Mushrooms Quesadea was delicious. Lots of cheese.

Hidden gem. Not sure how it has so few reviews. Was one of the highlights of our trip - the food and cocktails both. We went for dinner on a Wednesday night. Pizza and chicken were fantastic. The blackberry cocktail was one of the best I’ve had in the states. They got Remy in the kitchen back there or sumn.
Didn't know that this was inside the hotel but that's fine. Expensive Valet service but it's LA. Avocado toast was nice but bread too crispy. Potatoes were good and tasty.
Attentive wait staff, beautiful property. Was rather expensive for the quality of food, which was fine but not exceptional.
Good food. The problem is you have to order by QR code from your table, no interaction with a server yet you still are forced to pay 20% tip. They forgot our coffee so we had to go ask for it. Otherwise not a single check in / table visit from a server to see if we needed anything. Good food but horrible experience.

brought a friend here for her birthday, assuming it would be a delicious brunch because of the menu here on google and instagram. we were unfortunately met with a “new” and very limited menu, and a cryptic drink menu. we literally thought it was a bar menu but it’s the restaurant’s lunch menu. the food was mediocre at best, and for the price, we were better off going to a five star restaurant and not a hotel restaurant. for $93 i had the steak frites and one cocktail. my frites were cold (the cheese on top was stale by the time i got the plate) and my friend needed to add salt to her steak. our other friend said the pizza tasted like frozen pizza. we had to get up and pay our bill at the bar because workers weren’t around. lastly, when i added up my total it was $63, and an added 20% gratituty meant my total was supposed to be $75.60. why my total was $93 i do not know. its a very cryptic and deceiving “restaurant”, i’d say do better research and go elsewhere. :)
Super disappointed in this place especially because it has such good reviews….our experience was not satisfactory. We came in around 1:45pm on a Thursday, there was 1 other table when we arrived. The girl at the bar told us to grab a seat wherever and she’d be right with us. After a good 15-20mins passed and we saw MULTIPLE staff walking past us doing things and no one acknowledged us, I finally got up and went to the bar to ask if they were open in which they replied “yes you can go seat yourself wherever”. I explained that we have been seated and have been waiting for service for kinda a while. While the gentleman we served us was very nice and the drinks were good, it just seemed like our presence was an inconvenience and that no one wanted to serve the 2 of us. Maybe it’s a weird day so idk maybe don’t come here in the middle of a weekday afternoon if you want attentive service because you probably won’t get it.

I ran into their huge and delicious looking menu on Instagram and decided to go for brunch for my bday. When our server handed us the menu we thought she gave us the bar menu because of how limited food choices were on it and an extended list of cocktails. NOPE! That's the menu she said. We asked about the menu on Instagram and she said, that's from a long time ago. VERY UPSETTING. we stayed because we were very hungry but never going back.
