Wait staff is very nice. Great location right on Santa Monica Pier. Food is fresh and tasty. The nachos are fresh. They came out still warm. Enchiladas were very tasty.
The food is very good, the staff is very friendly, the prices are okay for LA, the bathroom is decent, they have a great view and music, the atmosphere is 10/10
I’ve been here twice today. I looked on yelp and saw they had 3.5. I was SHOCKED to say the least. This is a 4.8 establishment. I was with 2 friends and both times we got our drinks in less than 2 minutes (less than 30 seconds the first time). We ordered food the second time we were here, less than 5 minutes. ON HEARD OF IN LA. The staff are so nice, fun, and welcoming. This restaurant is at the end of the pier and you may think it’s a tourist trap, it is NOT. Love this restaurant ❤️
Maria Sol, the Mexican restaurant at the end of the Santa Monica Pier is excellent. There's an excellent ramp leading up to the restaurant from the Deck of the Pier. I needed it, and I used it. I thouroughly enjoyed the guacamole prepared at the table. The rest of our meals were equally delicious.
This place was great! I had the chicken tortilla soup, which was easily the best I ever had - absolutely fantastic! I also had the Viva Mexico Burrito, which was also excellent. The service was quick, and extremely friendly and welcoming. I had a great experience here, and the prices are very reasonable considering the location and the generous potion sizes.
Our first time at Santa Monica Pier and Maria Sol was the perfect place to eat. The Maria Sol has a great vibe and great views of the beach and awesome service. The food was fantastic i ordered Lobster tacos and my wife nachos let's just say we walked out of there very full and satisfied
Just what we were looking for! Me and my teenage sons just wanted somewhere to sit in the gorgeous setting sun with some cold drinks. If you sit in the rear deck, you can catch the sunset. The margarita was very nice and even the small is quite large. We got the nachos with guacamole and carne asada which was really good and filling, even for 3 people (we were only after an appetizer to keep us going in between meals). Thank you to our wonderful server Gustavo!!
Once again....a place I wish I had available in my hometown!!! The service, food, and atmosphere were all AMAZING!!! I had the chicken fajitas, with a Pina colada, and churros. My husband had the Carne Asada wet burrito and chocolate cake. Together we had endless chips and salsa....all of it was amazing and filling!!! Expect to pay $40 - $50 a person for an appetizer, meal, drink, and dessert...and it's well worth it and average for the area.
I strictly come here for the chicken nachos. It's enough that I have a huge meal leftover for tomorrows lunch. The restaurant is never too busy and it's right at the end of the pier. I like to sit inside with AC but there is a lot of outdoor seating as well. The service is friendly and they have fun music playing. It's super laid back with good food.
It’s was beautiful eating outside. Great atmosphere for a birthday dinner🥰. The waiter was attentive the food was great the fish (Salmon) tasted fresh and was grilled. The drinks were good and pricing was $$-$$$. Afterward walk and enjoy the carnival and vibrant atmosphere, which is all around.
A Great Oceanview Dining Experience We visited Sunset Maria Soul Cantina on a rainy day, and despite the weather, the experience was enjoyable. The restaurant offers a stunning ocean view, a clean and welcoming environment, and reasonable prices considering the location. One of the best deals we noticed was the endless chips and salsa for just $4 (up to four people)—definitely worth it! We also tried their fried calamari, which was soft, tender, and juicy, a delightful appetizer that we highly recommend. The service was amazing and fast, making the dining experience even better. We also suggest trying their fajitas, which were flavorful and satisfying. Overall, great food, excellent service, and a beautiful view make this a spot worth visiting. We will definitely be back!
☀️🪼❤️😎 I love this place!!! Amazing Food, Breathtaking Views! Maria Sol Sunset Cantina on the Santa Monica Pier is an absolute gem! Not only is the location perfect for taking in the stunning sunset views, but the food is also fantastic. The chips and salsa here are hands down the best I’ve ever had—so fresh and flavorful! The rest of the menu is equally delicious, with a great variety of dishes that are sure to please. The laid-back atmosphere, combined with the ocean breeze and panoramic views of the sunset, makes it a perfect spot for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Santa Monica! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Highly recommended.
We weren’t expecting much from a restaurant located in the very touristy area of Santa Monica Pier, so we walked in with some skepticism. But Maria Sol turned out to be a delightful surprise. The prices were reasonable for this location and the portions were generous. We left full and happy, especially after enjoying the Viva Mexico burrito, which was packed with flavor and easily the highlight of our meal. The service was friendly and efficient. Our server made us feel welcome and refills arrived quickly without us having to ask. If you’re exploring the pier and craving good Mexican food with a view, Maria Sol is worth a stop.
For a touristy location right on the Santa Monica Pier, this place delivers. The ocean view is unbeatable, and the prices are fair for the area. The mega margaritas hit the spot, flavorful and strong. We ordered nachos and they were a crowd favorite. Food overall was solid, service was good, and it’s a great place to relax with a drink by the water.
We were so excited to find a great place to eat outside and watch the sunset. Sunday evening and they weren't too busy. We were seated as soon as we got there. The hostess worked with us to sit us at the perfect table. The chips and salsa, were great, but they are $5 & come with two salsas. I loved the verde. Sodas are $6.50 a piece and come with free refills. I ordered the Sombrero Salad and it was awesome! Lots of sour cream and guac, good chicken, and delicious cotjia cheese. I also added a little bit of the verde salsa for a kick. My son ordered the Tacos Durados, with chicken, and asked for them with only cheese. They came out with lettuce and tomatoes, but our server quickly took the plate back and within a few minutes he had plain tacos with only cheese. He also said the rice was really good. We would definitely come back here! The view is AMAZING and it's a really cute property. Cheers!
Great portions but the food doesn’t have any taste to it. There is literally no seasoning in the food. It’s beautiful and looks so tasty but the fajita I got even the shrimp had no seasoning at all. I was shocked. The chicken and the steak the same. They made the guacamole in front of us which was amazing presentation! The taste was bland and even the table next to us said the same thing. We thought we were the only ones and we heard them talking about how they literally had to ask for seasoning salt. They were a cute family and our bill was $102 for 2 people. One Entree the guacamole, the fajita with extra shrimp, and my boyfriend got the nachos the serving size is huge and it’s amazing just I have never seen so much color and no taste lol. The service staff was amazing the view is gorgeous! I will try it one more time but please season the food..
Overall, very disappointing. You know those places where you should listen to your gut? Very much here. Due to the location we thought we'd try out the food and I can honestly say it's some of the blandest food we've ever had. Entirely sure the steaks were cooked in the microwave, we questioned this with the waiter. The waiter was a nice guy, just didn't seem to excited to be working or helping people. My friends food was sent back as it wasn't cooked right and then when it came back all of the food was bubbling (microwave) which basically confirmed out suspicions. No seasoning were used anywhere, food took all of about 3 minutes to cook which was a very bad sign.
On vacation stop by on 1/23/26 took the server over 5 minutes to come to our.( should have left) Took our order fish tacos. Nothing special about them over did it on the cream. Server Javiar never came back & checked on us . Had to go the manager to him we were ready for our ticket , asked if I needed other drinks. Finish our dinner what was the point. Javier came if needed anything said the ticket so we can get out of here. No tips when I left told the manager worst service ever.
The good: The Calamari was good, out of a bag, but good. With some lime and their creamy chipotle sauce, you could forget they aren't fresh. The bad: we ordered the lobster tacos. According to the menu, each taco has a whole lobster tail - false. It was 2 shrimp worth of meat. When i told the server about the lack of filling, he just laughed at us and said - "the menu says two tails, so that's what it has." The beans are from a can, either that or they have a very synthetic taste. Rice is bland. The server never came by our table again. To get some salsa on our table and to order the check, we had to call over others. Service was horrible. This is american-mexican food. Mexicans will be let down here - we were. Very sad experience. The Pacificos on draft were very cold.
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but unfortunately my visit fell short of expectations. The atmosphere itself was nice, but the overall experience didn’t match. The biggest issue was the cleanliness—specifically the silverware. When I sat down, I noticed that the utensils were visibly dirty, which immediately set the tone for the rest of the meal. Staff replaced them when asked, but it’s something that should be checked before guests are seated. The food was okay, nothing terrible but nothing memorable either. Given the price and the reviews I had seen beforehand, I expected better quality and attention to detail.
