El lugar es muy lindo..... Estaba bastante lleno cuando fuimos pero no había mucho ruido.... Las ranas están muy buenas , igual que la ensalada de ventresca..... Y el pulpo a la gallega increíble.... El flan muy recomendable... La atención es muy buena

We visited the restaurant tonight. What a lovely evening. First waiter was very welcoming, the second was a young man named Petko from Bulgaria, he spoke excellent English compared to my very limited Spanish. We ordered the beef cheeks and beef fillet, the cjheeks could not be any softer the meat melted like butter in my mouth, served with skinny fries and a bowl of bread. The service and food served was excellent. A local mixed group took over one table and the next minute they were singing their hearts out, I believe it’s a regular Friday night sing along. It was brilliant, this continued throughout our evening and only added to a lovely experience. Finished off with a glass of cream liquor similar to baileys. We would definitely return and would recommend to others.

We were looking for a late lunch for ten of us, not always easy to find a place that can accommodate. The staff were very accommodating. The young waiter went out his way to look after us. Food was excellent with good sized portions and good value for money. We had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone.

It’s a very quirky place, open since 1902! We were very well received and were given the house soup as a starter which was so delicious! We decided to have squid, roasted vegetables and shrimp to share for the two of us, but it was so much food we ended up taking leftovers home - too good to waste! We were expecting the live music which happens on Monday and Wednesday but there wasn’t music the day we visited which was unfortunate but the place is still so worth the visit just for the food! Everything done with extra virgin olive oil. Very reasonable prices.

Lugar muy clásico, típica taberna de antes que tanto gusta, muy amplio con mesas de madera y bancos. Miles de raciones y tapas a elegir con una variedad muy larga de vinos blancos, tintos y rosados, además de distintas bebidas. Servicio rápido aunque ajetreado. Calidad precio muy recomendable, buenas cantidades en las comandas. Tiene arriba una zona de restaurante también. Las mesas tienen preferencia ante las reservas, por lo que es mejor preguntar al personal antes de sentarse. Sin duda hay que entrar si estás por ahí.

Lugar pintoresco con las barricas. Quizas demasiado bullicioso para mi gusto. En cuanto a la comida, las raciones que pedimos estaban ricas y el precio adecuado. El servicio mejorable, pero dado el número de clientes que estábamos en ese momento, tampoco se puede pedir más.

Un sitio muy típico que merece la pena visitar y en el que también se come muy bien y a un precio muy por debajo de lo normal en Santander. Buenas raciones porque hay buena cocina y cocineros/as. Para comer o cenar de tapas pero también buenos platos de carne. Comida casera hecha al momento.

Domingo tarde. De paseo por Santander. Entramos por el aspecto a lugar clásico. Amplio. Ambiente tranquilo. Tomamos refrescos y una tapa de crocetas en barra. Buena atención por parte de la camarera. Croquetas de carne y croquetas de atún. 8 croquetas la ración. Tamaño medio. Ricas. Recomendable.

The food was good. The atmosphere is vintage and kind of cool. There are a lot of servers, but the service is chaotic and rushed. We got half if our order and then couldn't flag down a server to get the rest of the order for the table.

An ok place. First, do try and sit upstairs and get one of the women to serve you, the men downstairs are rude and not very friendly. Food is good and the place is nice and authentic. The issue is that there are plenty more restaurants around which serve much better food for the same price (or better). So again, a decent place, but far from a top experience when it comes to eating out in Santander.

Bar tradicional en Santander. La comida está rica, aunque algunas raciones son un poco escasas. No te ponen nada de picar si pides solamente una bebida.

Muy rico el rabo de toro , el pulpo escaso muy finito y duro muy poca patata y caro por 20 € no me parece bien los bocartes fritos sin más , solo 8 unidades 16€ tbm me parece escasa la racion

1. Adornado con barricas es un lugar acogedor bien para tomar algo o picar. Fuimos sin reserva un grupo de siete personas y nos atendieron sin problemas. Pedimos diversas raciones las cuales no me parecieron caras pero sin bastante escasas. El personal atento y rápido. 2. Segunda vez que vuelvo después de cuatro años, la vez anterior les puntúe con 4 estrellas, esta vez les quito una sobre todo por el tamaño de las raciones... cinco personas, nueve raciones y nos vamos con hambre. Me pareció un poco exagerado 2'10€ cada botella de agua de 50cl. Se lo hice saber a la persona que nos atendió y me dijo que pasaría la información, pero si después de tanto tiempo no lo han cambiado y siguen igual...poco más hay que añadir. En fin, que no volveremos.

Lady with glasses who met us at the door was very rude. We were a family of 5 looking for dinner. Place is nice inside. Food is only ok and place seems to be understaffed. Our waiter was a young guy and was helpful but couldn't say that about all the staff. If you are stuck it is fine but wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to this place.

El camarero nos estuvo esperando para sentarnos cerca de 10 minutos. Pedimos anchoas de santoña, y bueno eran más royo aliexpress,las de mercadona son bastante mejores. La oreja... Pfff sin duda la peor de toda mi existencia. El pastel de cabracho estaba bueno, en definitiva no entres.

My wife and I were here 20 years ago and had a really good experience. We returned last week with 3 of our kids with great expectations- unfortunately our experience (twice) was disappointing with the food being o.k., but the more disappointing aspect was the demeanour and engagement of staff - our first visit seemed to find us in the midst of tensions among some staff - however, we were treated abruptly at best and were almost apologetic for our order at the bar - when your business is serving people and being part of their experience it is important to reflect that in how you interact with those people - hundreds of thousands of people have crossed the threshold since our last visit and it was a place we always remembered and recommended to friends - not so much anymore - really need to have a long discussion with staff about their role in every customers’ experience

Sorry to say that everything tasted bad / was of low quality. Food aside, I've never seen such hard working (and stressed) waiters before. I feel really sorry for them.

Visitamos este mesón con la esperanza de disfrutar de una auténtica experiencia gastronómica, solo para ser decepcionados profundamente por una oferta culinaria que resultó ser pobre tanto en calidad como en cantidad. Las críticas negativas que habíamos visto anteriormente se confirmaron tristemente con nuestra experiencia. Los platos no lograron cumplir con las expectativas más básicas de sabor y sustancia. Es evidente que su principal clientela está compuesta por turistas incautos, atraídos por la estética del lugar, que promete más de lo que realmente ofrece. Sería prudente que reconsideren su enfoque y trabajen en elevar la calidad de sus propuestas culinarias.

It could be an amazing place because of the location but they served the worst food and white wine I have had in a long while. The wine tasted like antiseptic alcohol. They did change that wine for a glass of red but overall the food was tasteless or had an awful taste and the worst is that the red wine glass had lipstick on it. Really awful experience.

DONT GO THERE. Very bad, tasteless food, poor service and super high prices. I paid 40€ and had overcooked cod in tomato sauce (No taste), okay calamari and handful of pretty bad fries (7€ for them only:’)). In general one of my worst dining experiences ever, highly not recommended

Worst experience on pur holidays. Terrible service, unfriendly, unmotivated and not interested in the clients. Our food was less than average … we found a cockroach/ cucaracha in our bread, the mussels were the worst I had before … so overall we were really disappointed and cannot recommend this restaurant. Unfortunately, not a good experience. The food was okay at best and not fresh. The worst part was that there was a small piece of mould in the Shellfish Paté(Pudin de Cabracho) that I had. The Service was okay but the waiting staff seemed disinterested and that you are asking them to do you a favour by taking your order. Finally, the prices do not match the quality of the food.

Came here today, but would not recommend it! First of all, the glasses and cutlery were all very dirty. The menu was monotony, no traditional tapas. Don’t choose the shrimps and mushrooms, they were tasteless. And lastly, we found a hair in our food. The waiter was okay, but he seemed very stressed.

I went in as they have an English menu. Nobody there was too keen to speak to me in English. The waiters look depressed and it showed in their attitude towards customers. The rioka wine was ok. One of the pichos (blood sausage) was excellent and the other (pulpo) was ok The main dish of aubergine with seafood was inedible. Worst of the waiter tried to shortchange me when I paid the bill. It had to take the intervention of another waiter to explain he had shortchanged me . No apology. Left a very bad experience.
