First-time here and loved it. Staff attentive, quick service, food was hot and well prepared. We will be back for more of your great sushi 🍣

A trendy sushi bar nestled in University Park, I’ve always enjoyed the cuisine and the service offered. They’ve recently expanded to include a full bar retaining the nice dining areas both inside and out. Prices are in line and even better than reasonable for this part of town and type of food. Portions were generous and flavors were delicious. This restaurant tends to attract a younger crowd however any age will enjoy a night out for sushi here.

Jpan is amazing! I can't say enough positive things about Jpan, their staff is always super friendly and inviting. We love to sit up at the bar per usual but they have an amazing selection of spirits. Their craft cocktails are also on point and extremely unique. All our sushi rolls we have tried (7+) have been fresh and vibrant and also very unique. Their "dinner" options are also superb and I can't say enough great things about their Fried Rice (Spicy pork) is my fav but multiple protein options. This is a frequent stop for us when we are in the UTC area and if you haven't been I would suggest adding it to your list as well.

I really love JPAN and have been coming to this sushi spot for 4 years since we moved to the area. Food is always very tasty, nigiri always fresh, and I particularly love the Alpha roll, Tokyo Kiss & Florida roll for a lighter option. My family loves the ramen & also loves the sea monster roll, Aloha roll and many of the appetizers (tuna bomb is my fave!) They also have delicious drinks (please bring back the pineapple coconut drink!!) like the Aizen drink & Ko-Ko drink as well and would love if they had a Tokyo Iced tea drink (midori drink)! Will continue to come back here as well love it, only suggestion would maybe some updates with the tables & chairs as after 4+ years we have noticed a bit of wear and tear. But regardless, service is always great and my food is ALWAYS, so delicious!

I’ve been here many many times before, but this is my first time coming for a holiday — as always I’m very pleased with my visit! My server was very attentive and patient, there was an honest error with my meal but it was swiftly corrected. It seemed like a long day, long lines, we’re human! I hosted and I’m a barista, I understand the hard work and strength it takes to power through the day. It’s exhausting work. But not only the service shined, the food spoke for itself! I ordered the salmon lover roll, it was buttery and refreshing with a mix of fried salmon, cucumbers, and avocado. My cocktail was also very appealing in both taste and presentation! I also want to shout out the hosts for juggling phone calls, the wait list, and walk ins. I’m very grateful for everyone working so hard on a busy night and for giving me a very special Valentine’s dinner. I left with a smile and a full stomach, I can’t wait to be hungry again because I always know where to stop by. Thank you for your endless hard work!

This restaurant truly stands out with its fantastic atmosphere and perfect energy level. The hostess greeted us with professionalism and a warm smile, setting the tone for our visit. Our waiter, Jimmy, went above and beyond, ensuring all our needs were met with genuine care. I ordered the noodle bowl featuring egg and fresh vegetables, and the flavors were simply exquisite—no need for any additional seasoning! The manager, Chris, not only prepared our meals but also personally served them with a delightful personality, making sure every customer felt special. We also enjoyed a California roll filled with fresh crab meat—some of the best sushi we've tasted in Florida! With everything reasonably priced, we can’t wait to return. Kudos to the entire team for providing such a memorable experience!

Glad to find this place since Kona Grill closed. Much better value and food is much more delicious. Pork dumplings were the best I had, definitely not the frozen kind and they give you 5 pieces. Soup and salad was excellent. Volcano chicken was very good. Crunchy and has a nice slow heat. Will be back

Chef José's Omakase sushi was beautifully prepared, with each piece more delicious than the next. Absolute top 5 Omakase experiences from this highly-trained chef. Really appreciated that he came out to our table to say hello. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. We sat outside and the heaters made the cool evening perfect.

Saw a previous review talking about the Omikase and decided to give it a try. I’ve tried Omikases at Morimoto in Philadelphia, top spots in Manhattan, Seattle, San Francisco and this was one of my top 5 for sure. The saucing was just so on point, the difference in toppings and textures, the presentation, the inclusion of things like the shrimp head and him including our request for Uni all covered with a touch of gold leaf. This was a phenomenal experience and I left immensely satisfied. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!!

Perfect meal after my rowing race! I came here after a long day at the regatta and it hit the spot. Pear was my server—she was super kind and welcoming. The food was insanely good, every bite was worth it. And the inside of the restaurant? So cool, with amazing architecture and a relaxing vibe. Definitely coming back!

The sushi was SO delicious! we also had dumplings as an appetizer and they were so good too. The Mexican roll was my favorite.

I went here now two times! So amazing! The Philly roll is the best and I always get it with fresh salmon, not smoked. The salmon and tuna pieces are very tasty. And the edamame and miso soup are the best appetizers. Coming here for Christmas is definitely the best time to come! I highly recommend! 🫶

Absolutely amazing sushi and ramen! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The service was warm and attentive. Definitely my favorite spot!

Love Japan at UTC is a fantastic dining spot, especially during the holidays! The beautiful view of the lights paired with festive Christmas music creates a magical ambiance. The service is excellent, and it’s very kid-friendly—my child absolutely loved the chicken teriyaki and fried rice. I personally enjoyed the fresh and flavorful sushi rolls. It was such a pleasant and memorable experience. We’re looking forward to our next visit!

We love coming here for the sushi, fried rice, and dumplings. The food is always fresh and delicious, and we’ve never had a bad experience. The service is consistently great, and we always leave satisfied. Highly recommend!

Great Food. I was loving every bite of my Sea Monster Sushi roll. The beef in the tacos was well seasoned and very flavorful. Service was good and the atmosphere was on point. Music and lighting were perfect for the night. I will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

The JPan staff were excellent with my Sarasota Sirens HH group. 18 women can be a lot, but they were professional start to finish. From making the reservation days ahead, ease of ordering cocktails and food, and all of us wrapping up around the same time when it came to check out. Highly recommend for Girl’s Night Outs, Date Nights (one of & hubby’s and I fav places!) , Business Lunches, and Special Occasions!

Went for Saturday night dinner. We got there early so we got a nice table outside but got pretty busy as the night went on. Ordered the sake based on our server’s recommendation. Tasted very good, not too sweet. I got the omakase. I liked the toro (middle) which is fatty salmon. It didn’t come with salmon roe so I had to order separately. Our server did tell us what the items were but she thought it came with uni but it didn’t. I wish that it came with a piece of paper that said what each item was for a better dining experience. Everything tasted good and it came with wagyu which I didn’t expect but was a nice surprise. The omakase comes with salad and miso soup. Too much salad dressing tho. Husband ordered ramen - it was just okay. Egg was overcooked. I’d say they do sushi better than ramen. The gyoza was okay. I’ve had so many before and this one tasted good but wasn’t crispy enough. The tempura cheesecake was delicious. Perfect with ice cream.

Delicious and fresh! One of my favorite sushi places in the LWR/Bradenton area. We always order the pork belly bao buns as an appetizer. Sweet, savory, with a nice pickled vegetable to complement the flavors. Typical meals come with a clean miso and a refreshing ginger dressing salad. We have gotten the sushi boat for two (great for raw & cooked sushi lovers). Recently ordered the $50 chefs choice omakase and this will be my go-to every time now. The selection of stuff was fantastic. Items you typically don’t get at any sushi restaurant. This time we went, they have a drink menu “for the cause” charity event for a local animal shelter. I love how this restaurant supports other businesses in the area as well.

The appetizers were delicious. Dinner comes with soup and salad. Would definitely order the salmon again. It was perfectly cooked. The salads were filling and came with a lovely ginger dressing. Beautiful decor and staff that knows the menu and offers suggestions. Good choice if you are out at UTC.

What a great experience. Received water right away and took our drink orders. Only another minute for cold beers. They knew about the UTC Prix Fix Special which was a steal btw. Sushi was amazing. Green Tea ice cream was a perfect end to the meal. Nice and refreshing. Waitress very attentive and a nice smile. I wish I recall her name.. I know it started with a K. If you are looking for good sushi and service, I highly recommend this place. The music was good as well.

My family and I celebrated my mother's 93rd birthday. Siwimol, our server, made the celebration even more spectacular with her friendly smile, professional attitude, and care and attention to my mother! The cake Siwimol brought to the table was awesome. Just look at the smile on my mother’s face. Food was great! I highly recommend JPAN to family and friends!

Incredible Sushi and Great Atmosphere! I had an amazing experience at Jpan sushi in Sarasota! The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The specialty rolls were creative and absolutely delicious – I highly recommend the sushi boat if you're a fan of bold flavors. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without feeling rushed. The ambiance was cozy yet modern, perfect for a date night or dinner with friends. If you're looking for top-notch sushi in Sarasota, this place is a must-visit. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

My family and I went here for lunch and ordered 8-9 different rolls, (along with carrot ginger salad and miso soup) and they were all amazing. The rice was fresh and soft, the veggies and avocado were fresh. We loved the food, and our server was sweet and helpful. The only reason I gave the atmosphere four stars, was they were playing loud music inside and out, and was kind of annoying to talk over it. Only got one pic, and it’s not that great 😆 but I highly recommend Jpan- great food!

One of the best sushi spots in the area. But I absolutely love their rock shrimp, so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! And they have probably the best Korean Tacos I've ever had.. Not usually too busy for lunch either, and they have some affordable lunch specials. Reservations also available for dinner.

Hamachi chili appetizer was sublime, we ordered two! Wagyu entree is served with a hot stone up cook to your own taste at the table, loved it.

Ok you have to have the Gents roll with wagyu beef and tempora shrimp, the atoro roll special is also fantastic with bluefin tuna. Our waitress Cynthian added to the enjoyment of our dinner!

Adryen was a great server. Friendly, prompt and brought food out when it was ready and informed us the sushi rolls usually take longer. We had a wonderful time. Would come back for the service and amazing food. Especially the fried rice.

Sabrina was our waitress ! She was phenomenal…we are an older couple who hasn’t signed up for the sushi craze but she explained that raw fish is LESS fishy than cooked fish! Who knew? We are now hooked! Thank you for the experience—we will be back!

Visited the evening of 02.02.26 with my boyfriend and I must say, for my first time visiting, I couldn't have been more impressed. From the warm greeting from the host, the quick seating...I noticed how incredibly clean the restaurant was along with every team member being on their A game in all aspects. But....what made this first time visit so incredible was that of the beauty of service offered by our amazing waitress Siwimol (Pear). Never in my 37 years on this earth have I ever received such kindness and truancy as we did from her. From start to finish she was absolutely incredible and just offered the warmest of smiles, compassion and she absolutely knew what to recommend and explained, in detail, everything we were asking. We will definitely be back soon and just hope Siwimol and the team knows how truly appreciative we are for this experience especially as it was my first time but most definitely not my last. Well done!!!

Went to jpan as a last minute gathering with a fairly large group without reservations and they accommodated us as quickly as they could. The staff were happy to help and very friendly. Most importantly the food was amazing! The sushi was so fresh! Will definitely be back!

Their food is always amazing. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, that’s why we always order everything at once. They have a happy hour from 5-6:30. $5 sake is always our favorite. The apps are delicious. The sushi rolls are amazing! They expanded so they have tons of seating now! A bit pricy especially since the service can always be hit or miss but the food is good! They even have some options for vegans!

Environment very cool, inside and outside. Staff very friendly. We ordered Asian pork tacos, very good. Acevichado roll had a spicy kick, delicious, and the alfa roll had a sweet kick, also delicious. Ramen was lacking of salt and I felt it very greasy.

The food was some of the better sushi I’ve had in town but after coming here a couple times, it’s not consistent. Sometimes the warmer food has gone cold by the time it reaches your table. Which is a shame. But what really shines here is the service. Our server was very considerate and kind. The atmosphere is good decor wise, but they played upbeat pop music and upbeat country which didn’t match the aesthetic of the restaurant so that threw me off a bit. Overall 4/5⭐️

Jpan Sushi & Grill is in a great location. The children’s meal was excellent, with special mention several times in how good the dumpling was and the light crispy tempura chicken. The sushi roll was freshly made and delicious. Service was adequate.

Great casual restaurant. I had the bento box for lunch. I arrived at opening and was quickly seated. I ate outside and it's very nice and breezy. My server, Victor was the sweetest guy and kept making sure everything was alright. he even gave me a rebate on my bento box because I did not take the salad that goes along but took a seaweed salad instead. Music was light rock and pop, not too loud.

We made it just in time for a quick lunch and ordered a few appetizers, rolls, and sashimi. Everything was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The sushi pizza was our favorite. We’ll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Overall, a delicious and reasonably priced spot for a great lunch.

Came here for dinner while the holiday parade was happening and the food was delicious. My bf had a sushi roll and I ordered the beef bowl. They also have interesting cocktails to try. The only problem we had was that our server was extremely slow and kept forgetting to bring things like utensils, water, napkins, and the soup that came with my meal. It made the experience a tad frustrating.

So many selection but somehow missing proper sushi roll. They have fried tempura or fried shrimp in many. Fake crab is also a no for us. Friendly staff and nice place

I did have high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews but it was still a disappointment unfortunately. Atmosphere was great, service was good but food didn’t meet my expectations at all. For the prices they charge here I’d expect better quality and put together rolls, but the presentation was great as shown in my pictures. I probably won’t return or recommend.

Had an overall good experience here and would recommend with some honest caveats. Pros: they have a designated gluten free menu and are very knowledgeable about gluten allergies. This was much appreciated. The servers were also so sweet and helpful. The two roll lunch special was a decent deal based on their regular menu. Cons: it’s incredibly loud even at lunch with few people there. The sashimi lunch special is advertised with a roll but really it’s just two pieces with no rice wrapped in cucumber and 8 pieces of fish. This was over priced and not at all what we expected. We expected a proper 4-6 piece sushi roll with rice. Would definitely not order that again! Overall decent food, great gluten free menu but over priced for what you get.

We drove by this restaurant so many times and we love sushi. So we finally decided to give it a try. We went for lunch right when they opened. Unfortunally I was very disappointed. I ordered shrimp tempura and the rolls were small, you can barely see the shrimp and the taste wasn't anything special. Also it is overpriced for just a simple roll. I order a coke and it tasted very flat, I had to mention it and got another that was a little better. The volcano roll wasn't to bad.

J
Jackson Thomas

This place use to be great but within the past 6 months the service has gone downhill and they no longer maintain the decor (bar area decorated for Christmas last year). Food is still good but has gotten way pricier as well.

G
Gene A

I had a bento box with braised pork and noodles. The pork in fact was over fried and became hard like a cardboard. Not edible. The noodles were partially hard, indication of had been cooked beforehand and dried, then just heated with souse. Overall, it was bad Chinese dish. Do not recommend.

P
Paul Peays

Usually great, today was a bit different. The volcano chicken was turned to soup, guessing the steamed veg carried extra water!? And simple instructions seemed difficult

I have to say this was the worst I have ever had to the point I was nauseous all night....I ordered sashimi platter 21 piece 45.00! Soup and salad very good...service was great but ong the worst sashimi I thought I was going to throw up all night. It had 2 thick pieces of lox that u put on a bagel that was fishy! I ended up eating a few pieces taking it home and threw it in garbage just horrible. I have never had lox on sashimi plate...I had the salmon but the lox was disgusting...fishy. thick...I paid 45.00 dollars for that.....never again...the entire day and night felt like vomiting.

Asian food is my favorite and I'm a huge sushi/ fried rice/ noodles person. I ordered the volcano role and I gotta say it might be one of the worst sushi rolls I've ever had. I would've rather gotten grocery store sushi. It was all rice and had the tiniest piece of fish in it. It was cut so thin it would fall apart when I tried to pick it up. For 20$, that's absolutely crazy. The noodles with beef were also not good. The beef was tender and the noodles were good but it had this extremely sweet taste to it, like over powering. I took 4 bites and was no longer hungry. To be honest I would've rather gone to pei Wei or even mall food court Asian food. The only good food item we got was the tuna bomb. That was good but nothing crazy. This is my second time eating here in the past couple years and the first time I went, I had the same experience. I want to emphasize one more time; WORST SUSHI EVER.
