Wow…this was our second restaurant of the night. The first was disastrous and immediately made reservations at the Chart House-thankfully! We arrived 45 minutes early and took a seat at the bar. We ordered drinks-our bartender, Lauren, had a great personality. We were seated right on time. The restaurant is stunning inside. Relaxed and welcoming. Our waitress, Kionna, was on top of her game! Honestly, every single waitress, assistant, and manager were covering the entire restaurant so that no table was ignored or left wanting. We ordered the sweetheart menu. We did indulge and ordered the crab cake appetizer. It was phenomenal. Melted in your mouth. Next, Lobster bisque and clam chowder were exceptional. Creamy, savory, just made you feel warm and fuzzy. Our entrees: seared scallops with risotto and surf and turf. There are no words for how amazing these dishes were. We wanted to have a do-over immediately. Scallops were absolute perfection. Steak was smooth and cut effortlessly. The lobster tail was like nothing we’d ever tasted-wasn’t rubbery in texture. Never have I ever had something so delicious. We finished the meal with the popular red velvet lava cake-it was an amazing finish. If you’re in the area, book here immediately. Do not hesitate.
Excellent restaurant to try while in Savannah. The Prime Rib was perfectly cooked medium rare. The stuffed Shrimp was top notch with crab meat stuffing. The Mud Pie dessert was unbelievable. Parking at the river front is easy. Just park at the court house parking lot. It’s only a $1.50 an hour. It’s a short 5 minute walk to the Chart House. A special thank you to the General Manager “Houston” he was nice enough to seat us without a reservation on a Saturday night. We try to stop by as we travel south.
Very nice place that is casual but still fancy enough to dress up.. the ambiance is subdued but nicely appointed.. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about everything we asked for.. and even could accommodate a couple of extra requests. I ordered the ny strip, and it was tastefully seasoned and cooked to order.. Prices were also very reasonable.
*****UPDATE****** 12-6-25 Had another awesome night, I tried the Sea bass and it's amazing. Honestly.. don't trust their steak, this is the second occurrence whereas I witness a steak being cooked underdone. Anything else on the menu should be fine. I hate to hear that Shanita is moving back to Florida... on my two times being here, I really enjoyed her enthusiastic service. She is simply awesome. I hate to hear that she is moving on else where. Chart house should truly keep her here she is passionate and cares about what she does! She provided phenomenal service! Why is she leaving!???? Keep her!!!! I love the chart house, it's a great time every-time. I enjoy coming to restaurants where I just know I don't have to check their reviews to ensure myself that I'm coming to the right place. There's not very many, but Chart House is one of the few. I enjoyed my meal, and I look forward to coming back again & again when time serves best. Amanda did great bartending and making sure my table was great.
my mom and i came to celebrate our birthdays, they had our name on the menus which was soo cute! our server, Q, was funny, personable and gave great service! i got the sea bass + lobster risotto & my mom got the salmon, the sticky rice was so gooddd. everybody from the hostess, the bartender downstairs, our server & the manager Matt was so friendly, it made for a great experience! the food was great and so were all the drinks we had! only downside i experienced was there was a lot of fuzz on the napkins/in the air that was bothering my nose, besides that everything was perfect!
We arrived about 2 hours ahead of our reservation, and decided to sit at the bar for dinner. The service, atmosphere and food didn’t disappoint. Ava and Amanda were extremely attentive and friendly. When you go - you have to get the shrimp cocktail. The dry ice presentation is just cool (not sure if my picture could capture this). My wife had the oysters Rockefeller and they didn’t last long. Steak was solid and on par with other Landry’s options, and the Australian Lobster Tail exceeded normal expectations on both size and flavor. All in all a good spot in Savannah for dinner.
If you’re searching for a dining experience in Savannah that blends refined seafood, warm hospitality, and one of the most iconic views in the city, The Chart House is an excellent place to drop anchor. Set directly along the Savannah River, this restaurant offers a front-row seat to the slow, graceful parade of boats drifting by—a moving backdrop that feels almost cinematic. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere strikes a beautiful balance between upscale and inviting. The interior glows with soft lighting and polished wood, but it’s the river-facing windows that steal the show. Whether you arrive for sunset or settle in after dark to watch the reflections dance across the water, the view is undeniably one of the Chart House’s greatest luxuries. The food holds its own beside the scenery. The seafood is fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and plated with intention. Favorites like the macadamia-crusted Mahi and prime rib are executed with consistency and care, delivering the kind of satisfying richness you hope for in a fine dining setting. Even the appetizers—calamari, shrimp, soups—come out steaming hot and well-seasoned, a preview of the quality to follow. Service at The Chart House deserves special mention. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely invested in creating a smooth, enjoyable experience. It's the kind of polished service that enhances the meal rather than distracts from it. The combination of excellent food, professional service, and that unforgettable river view makes The Chart House a standout choice for special occasions, romantic nights out, or simply treating yourself while exploring Savannah’s historic riverfront. For anyone wanting a meal with a touch of elegance and a postcard-perfect backdrop, The Chart House delivers—beautifully.
I am cautious of chain restaurants or toirist traps. The Chart House was neither. The atmosphere and service were superb! Our waiter, Scott, was amazing. He is knowledgeable, pleasant, and timed our service perfectly. The highlight of our meal was the pecan-crusted trout and hot chocolate lava cake. This was a dining experience, and we can't wait to come back.
My husband and I had the pleasure of going to Chart House Savannah this weekend to celebrate our anniversary and it was truly a special experience. Our server Ava made our night so wonderful with her excellent service, the staff hand signed a congratulatory card, provided us with a personalized menu that had our names on it, and gave us a celebratory dessert as well. The swordfish and shrimp pasta were absolutely delicious and obviously crafted with care. Our bar drinks were phenomenal I had the best espresso martini I have ever had before. To the GM Houstin for being so kind, to our server Ava and her trainee Brian for making us feel so special, to the bartenders Amanda Paige for the amazing drinks, and to the whole kitchen staff for providing amazing food we couldn’t thank Chart House enough. Definitely reserve a table especially when looking for a great way to celebrate.
It was our 39th anniversary. My husband made the reservation. They greeted us with our personalized menu to start the night out. The food was amazing (I had the pecan crusted trout and he had the prime rib)! Ava treated us like royalty. They created a wonderful memory for us.
Absolutely Awesome place to have that special dinner.. Kim is the Best ever.. Kim listens to her guest and interacts with everyone. I brought a few friends from Arizona and they had the Fried Green Tomatoes for the first time which was a great treat. Matt (GM) came around multiple times checking on us and interacting with our table. If you want great food, great atmosphere, great service…. Visit Charthouse because it’s the BEST..
Our waiter Q was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the restaurants building. We were outside on the terrace with a nice view of the river. The food was excellent and prepared very well. It was not a place to just eat it was a dining experience.
Kimberly was the excellent server. She very attentive to our dinner needs. Great personality.
Chart House in Savannah offers a fantastic dining experience with great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The seafood is especially delicious, and the service is top-notch. A special shoutout to bartenders Amanda and Ian, who make excellent drinks and provide friendly, attentive service. Highly recommended for a memorable meal!
I’ve been here a few times the last few weeks for both happy hour and dinner, and have enjoyed it every time. An extra thanks to the bartenders Ian, Amanda and Paige for making sure everything was perfect every time. Recommend the filet mignon and the prime rib sliders.
We took my father here to celebrate his 77th birthday and had a wonderful time! From our pre-dinner drinks at the lounge to our fantastic experience in the restaurant, everything was perfect! We received excellent service, the food was wonderful, and my dad was so excited about the personalized menu to celebrate his special day. We were initially concerned about accessibility since he uses a walker, but called ahead and we’re able to drop him off at the ramp in the back, so there was no problem there.
We love the Chart House!! It’s a great place for a truly fine dining experience with awesome views of the Savannah River. Michael our server was on point! He saw to our every need and I loved the attention to detail he showed.
The service provided by Paige was exceptional, attentive and fun. Great server. The menu selections were fine and the price fix dinner was excellent. Only setback was the music selection as a bit too loud and not pleasant for the setting.
Upon entry it was a nice cozy vibe. they have outside table and inside tables and tables upstairs. we were about 5 minutes late for a 6:30 reservation but they were running behind anyway so that was perfect. they asked us if we wanted to sit inside or out we chose in. they gave us custom menus for my boyfriends birthday that we got to take home. that was so sweet. I ordered the prime rib with the mashed potatoes. very delicious. medium well premie rib was very juicy seared to perfection. my boyfriend had the filet mignon. they first they brought out was a lil too done and a lil charred we sent it back and they got us a dress new one no hassle. the manager came to speak with us he was so sweet. this night was definitely great also our waitress I don’t know her name she was so sweet I forgot her name. best waitress I ever had. definitely will be back. for parking you have to park on the street and walk try to get there early to find parking.
Excellent service from Joel! We enjoyed our meal and he made it a very welcoming environment for myself and my husband as we celebrated his 55th birthday. Thank you for such a lovely night Joel.
Our server Mackenzie was very attentive and accommodating. From the moment we sat down he let us pace the meal so we could enjoy the waterfront view and wine. The food did not disappoint. Fresh, flavorful and just superb. The wine selection is out of this world. Makes me miss the Phila location even more. Thank you Mackenzie!
We had a large group with 6 younger girls and our server, Imari, went above and beyond!! She was amazing & the food and drink was wonderful. Great atmosphere from start to finish!
Sat at the bar for happy hour. Bartender Amanda was very busy with a party of 17 but never once did we feel ignored. She was pleasant, most efficient and had a good sense of humor. She was later joined by Ian, they make a great team! Nice food selections from the happy hour menu, and served in a timely manner. Especially liked the Ahi Tuna Nachos. Also ordered Caesar salad and the Crème Brûlée Trio from the main dinner menu. Cocktails were perfect. Highly recommended Chart House when you’re in Savannah.
We are visiting Savannah for the weekend and tried Chart House for the first time. All appetizers were delicious and my filet was cooked to perfection. The manager came by to check on our table multiple times. The cocktails were also delicious. Our waitress, Imari, was the best! She had a great personality and handled our large table of 12 (kids included) with so much confidence and attention. We will definitely return when we come back to Savannah.
Had a great birthday dinner with my girlfriends. They even customized the menu, which was a super fun surprise. I had the king crab with roasted veggies and it was fabulous, I knew the crab would be amazing, but the broccolini was a sleeper hit. It was perfectly crisped and salted, too. I wasn’t feeling like having an alcoholic beverage, so I had the fauxhito instead and it was actually better than a traditional mojito. Service was great, we had an amazing time. Would definitely be back.
The food lived up to the impeccable and consistent expectations, perfect! On the same Par of excellence was our service with Colton. His recommendations were spot on and his presence and timing were flawless! Always there exactly when needed without being obtrusive. One of a kind and start to finish exactly what we hoped for. Thank you!
Very nice dining experience in Savannah's River Walk district. We had the Caesar's salad, Prime Rib, Crab Cake, and Lava Cake dessert. All were exceptional. Great flavor and superb presentation (noticeably superior). The service by Mackenzie was also noteworthy. Friendly, helpful and very efficient. Perfect balance of social warmth and professional service. Finally, really liked the atmosphere. Lots of exposed brick and great views. Will definitely return the next time we're in this lovely town.
Amazing food, service was excellent.only issue was i was seated next to the door so everytime someone came thru the door. I got a stiff of cold air run thru me. Waited 2 hours for my food. Understandable valentines day place was packed. My server had to run up 3 flights of steps everytime I ordered a drink. Poor thing. But definitely would go back. Totally worth it
My daughter and I went to Chart house to celebrate our birthdays today. From the moment we walked in, we knew we loved it! The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. We started at the bar for happy hour and then went to dinner. Q was our server and he was absolutely amazing! He was knowledgeable and friendly and gave us great recommendations. We are only in town for an extended weekend and meeting Q was such a positive experience. He went above and beyond and answered every question we had with a smile on his face. I cannot say enough nice things about that young man. He is truly an exemplary human being!
Went here for my birthday and the experience was absolutely beautiful. Our server, Colten, was incredibly sweet and patient with our very large group and kept me refilled on shirley temples I couldn't be happier. Every worker also went out of their way to check in with us and wish me a happy birthday. My friends and I had a great night🤗🤗
Amanda was absolutely wonderful. My husband Scott and I were dining in, and from start to finish she made our experience feel special and relaxed. Her service was attentive, warm, and very personal—she checked in thoughtfully and made sure everything was just right for us. Even during a busy night, she handled everything with such care and professionalism. Amanda truly elevated our evening, and we couldn’t have asked for better service.
Chart House is our go to for a wonderful meal at a fair price. I’m not sure how they do it though the cocktail shrimp is extremely firm and delicious; no mushy farmed shrimp here. I enjoy the clam chowder and my wife likes the Caesar salad, the cheese bowl is a great touch. As far as entrees, I can only speak on the prime rib, it is the best I’ve had in the area and a regular menu item. My wife loves the sea bass. The staff and atmosphere elevate the experience. Tonight we had Allison as our server, she was great! Thanks Chart House and we’ll see you again soon!
Chart house is my favorite restaurant chain. I was passing by and stopped in. Unfortunately, it wasn't a happy hour special time. Bartenders were attentive. Food took a little while. Drink was outstanding.
Really nice place on the river bank. Great place to see freighters go by. Food was good, service was a little slow (especially for the drink orders), but taking into consideration that we were a group of 10 people, I would still recommend it. Our waiter, Josh, did a great job… especially for the few in the group that kept ordering table side drink presentations. Where I would knock them a little is for refusing to sit 8 out of 10 people because not all of the party was there. Missed opportunity from the manager to make more money on drinks and apps while the last few were on their way.
I would have given this place 5 out of 5 if the lobster had been better, but it wasn’t as good as I expected. It was a bit tough and lacked flavor. That said, the filet mignon and lobster risotto were both excellent. The fried green tomato and clam chowder were great as well. Overall, everything was amazing except the lobster. Unfortunately, the service also wasn’t great. Our server wasn’t very courteous or friendly. She brought out our drinks without straws and didn’t notice until I asked and made it seem out of ordinary for me to ask for straws. She also didn’t clear dishes from our table at first. When the lava cake was served, the manager on the floor actually came over to clean up the table of spilled food instead of the server. Thank you, manager—you were greatly appreciated.
The chart houses atmosphere is phenomenal. We came for our anniversary the other night and it perfectly fit the vibe we were going for. Our server Watson was very kind and attentive annd if I was just rating his service it would be an 5/5. Our problem was our food did not meet our expectations, especially for the price we are paying. We had the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and it was spectacular. But it was the exception. We got the filet and the NY strip, both came with mashed potatoes. And both were drastically under seasoned. I had the crab cake as a side with my steak and was dissatisfied by both flavor and texture. It tasted pretty average for a crab cake but was just mushy and wasn’t so enjoyable to eat. Overall it wasn’t a terrible experience but I’d hope in the future they’d add more seasoning to their dishes.
It's pricey, but it can be worth it! What I Ordered: Artichoke Spinach Dip$11 NY Strip 14oz$42 Add Chimichurri Butter$3 Filet 7oz $40 Add Bleu Cheese Buttter$3 Lava Cake$12 Bt Service Compass IPA$6.25 Mango Mojito$11 Double Berry Mule$12 The atmosphere is enjoyable, as is the location. Our waitress was attentive, amusing, and friendly. The food and drinks were delivered on time, and paying with a QR code makes life easier! Excellent feature! It was an enjoyable experience, but not without flaws. The appetizer wasn't spectacular, but it was adequate. The dip was delicious, but the chips were a little stale. Here's why both main entrées were split. Both proteins were cooked to the proper temperature and were flavorful. Of course, the add-ons improve it, but even the pieces without them were excellent. The only complaint was that the sides were bland. I'm slightly ok with it because both proteins were delicious! The dessert was forgettable, but the drinks were incredible, and that is all I have to say! I want to give this place a higher rating, but for the price, I shouldn't have stale chips, bland potatoes, or a dessert that tastes like something I could get anywhere for a lower price. The question is "Would I Return?" The answer... yes, but only after I have explored other establishments. Just cause I want to give it another go!
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the service was warm, but the food didn’t live up to the price point. The calamari appetizer was oily and surprisingly spicy, which took away from the flavor. The two-tail lobster looked great but had almost no taste, and the vegetables were undercooked. The Thanksgiving turkey special was okay, but the portion was very small and the cornbread wasn’t good. Overall, it’s a nice place with great views, but the dishes lacked seasoning, balance, and value for what you pay.
Our server has been there 2 weeks but still needs A Lot of training, he could be good with the right guidance. My Prime Rib was pretty good, my sister got the chicken special and it was overcooked. We had calamari that was pretty good. Service was slow and lacked enough follow up. The clam chowder was ok, expected more from this restaurant.
I agree with previous reviewers who reported a nice atmosphere, but food that was lacking in flavor and quality. I ordered the prime rib, cooked medium rare. Although the color was right, it was so tough that I could barely cut it, nevermind chew it. I left most of it on the plate. My husband ordered the filet, cooked medium. The outside had a nice sear, but the center was essentially raw. We also ordered potatoes, which were just OK, and creamed spinach which was good. The food was delivered by a different person than the one who took our order, and when we saw her again, she seemed in a rush, check in hand. We won't be back because of the poor attention to quality of the main dishes.
We were looking for a nice place to have dinner and get away from the crowds near hotel. Cool old historical building. Reservation was at 6 and restaurant had plenty of tables open. They chose the table closest to the bathroom for us. Entire dinner people had to walk by us to go to restroom. Appetizer was calamari. The serving was large, but very over cooked. The only thing that saved it was the sauce and batter which were both good. Hummus and naan plate was good. Fresh tomatoes was a nice touch. Decided to split a plate after the large appetizer servings and went with coconut shrimp. Shrimp were very good and dipping sauces were a nice touch. Server was nice but MIA most of the night. Wife ordered a side of their famous mashed potatoes and was a big miss on their part. 13 bucks for a serving of mediocre spuds. Not horrible, but would go again.
I was here from out of town with a big party, & my fork & glass were dirty. I didn't want to make a fuss, so I let it go. The food took a long time to get out to us. When we finally got our food, the mashed potatoes were cold & firmed up. Our server seemed too busy to be bothered by us, but the manager did get us fresh mashed potatoes. I'm from an area where hospitality is important & I just feel it wasn't here at this restaurant. We had just been to another restaurant the night before where the hospitality was impeccable so it was disappointing to not have the trebd continue where lots of tourists go.
Seated quickly, but all way in back by a service curtain and only a few tables with people. Service was slow. Disappointed with food… pecan trout had no flavor needed salt and more sauce, mash potatoes were awful….we started with a Cesar salad that was good and in a delicious crusty cheese bowl. My drink was refreshing and good. Server was very kind. We will not go back again or recommend.
Worst experience. Took over 45 mins to get the first course which was a simple soup. Then my wife’s entire meal came out while I waited and waited then the waitress came to us and said oh I’m sorry the rest of your order didn’t get put in so we will rush your plate out. My wife was finishing and my food came. The noodles were chewy and you could tell the plate was rushed. We were not happy at all with the service or the food for 100+ dollar meal. They didn’t even get my drink right. Simple captain and coke in a tall glass . What did I get, well rum and a short glass. Very disappointed! Left still hungry!
The evening started off well — the water was perfectly cold and the bread service was great. Unfortunately, everything after that went downhill quickly. For a special Thanksgiving dinner, especially at a price point of over $200, the experience fell far short of our expectations. The presentation of the food was disappointing, the dishes were overcooked, and the flavors simply weren’t there. Though they did let me order something else in the place what they said was sea bass. To add to that, while I was signing the bill, the pen actually exploded. Not a huge deal on its own, but it summed up the night altogether. We also selected the prix fixe menu and I chose the cheesecake for dessert when I ordered. But we decided to take our desserts to go, and didn’t open them until we got back to the hotel — only to discover I had been given pecan pie instead. 😂 To be fair, the service itself was great, and our server did the best she could. But overall, the meal and experience didn’t match the level of quality we were hoping for on a special holiday evening.
Definitely not up to Chart House standards. Below average experience at fine dining prices. Appears to be a leadership/management issue. Showed up on time for our reservation and took about 15 minutes to be seated. Didn’t get main entrees until 1 hour 55 minutes after our reservation time. My starter came out 45 minutes after being seated and I ended up eating it alone as it was another 15 minutes before the other guests’ soups and salad came out. Both soups were room temperature. My starter (fried green tomatoes) was lukewarm and very average. When the mains finally came, the two fish entrees had obviously been hanging around for quite a while. The two prime ribs were good and the Lava Cake dessert was excellent. Server was pleasant but disappeared for a good 30 minutes leaving us hungry and thirsty. There are many legitimate fine dining options in Savannah… this just isn’t one of them.
Being this was my first trip to Savannah, I was so looking forward to the local cuisine and especially the prime rib of The Chart House. Well...............my trip would have been much better without dinner here due to the fact my days were ugly after that being that I lacked sleep and drive from the food poisoning I experienced from this dinner. I chose the Prime Rib obviously and it comes with garlic mashed potatoes and I chose mushrooms as well. When the prime rib came out, it was more rare than med rare as I requested, cold to the touch and the potatoes were ice cold. Being this was a large business dinner, I chose to not make a fuss, but I certainly paid for it with a full night of bathroom visits that induced blood. TMI, but given my hellish night I feel it needs to be shared. I hadn't eaten since the night before as I was busy at a conference all day and hadn't had time. It was the only thing that I had ingested in 24 hours, so I know within 4 hours eating it, it was the only obvious thing. My prime rib had no seasoning as ANY prime rib should have and the potatoes..........barely any taste. I will NEVER recommend or return to this place unless they change their kitchen and pass procedures. That plate should NEVER have left the pass! Our wait staff however were amazing!
Absolutely unacceptable. We waited over an hour for food that arrived dried out, poorly prepared, and incomplete. On top of that, we waited another 40 minutes for a dessert that was already included in the meal. Slow service, bad food, and zero urgency from staff. A complete waste of money and time. Never again.
The surroundings were nice however the VERY LOUD drunk guy at the next table was brutal and ruined the atmosphere. Food was just ok. Oysters were good, dipping sauces were salty. Coconut shrimp were just average. Mahi was good but also salty. Bouillabaisse was ok, good shrimp, a few scallops. Bread did not come out with dish, after asking twice it finally made it. Service was sub par at best. Probably wouldn't go back.
Recently went there first dinner. Arrived early when it wasn't busy. Waited over an hour for our dinner. When it arrived at our table, there was only one plate. So we mentioned to the server that one of the plates we're missing. The waiter came back and stated he thought we we're sharing one plate. How 🤔 ❓️ did he hear one plate of food. So he suggested we share the plate, or order another plate that would take over an hour. He wasn't accommodating at all. We asked for the manager and he never came. So finally we shared one plate. Which I didn't eat much at all. To say the least, we were very upset. My husband went to find the manager and the manager was worse than the waiter. He was so bad he messed up the bill three times over charging us. As a manager, he should have apologized and said don't worry about the charges. Very poor service and management!!!!!!
