Popped in on a whim for lunch. Phenomenal service and helpful staff- very lovely. The food came in great portions and quality for the price. I got the garlic shrimp and it exceeded expectations. If I’m ever in town again around dinner time i will definitely be stopping in.
Quiet date night. These portions are gracious. Grilled Mahi on grit cake. Well seasoned fish and cheesy delicious grit cake. He has bacon wrapped meatloaf and it dis not disappoint. Everything was great. My only suggestion would be sure to make your meal is staged to give you space and time to enjoy each course while warm or cool.
Stopped by for lunch. We always manage to stop here when we come through Beaufort SC. Again we weren't disappointed. Enjoyed a fresh chicken salad platter and a wonderful fish taco dish with pickled onions and chips with guacamole dip. Still an excellent choice for a meal in this town.
On a Sat night there were four of us dinning. We arrived earlier than our res to have drinks at the bar. Renee took care of us there and also at our table. For starters, we shared Pimento Cheese and Garlic Shrimp plates (my favorite & will be coming back just for that!). We had the Mahi, Flounder, & 2 Pork entrees, all of which were delicious! Excellent food & service!
Delicious food and wonderful service! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. The fried flounder was huge, fried perfectly and the rice mix was super tasty! Lots of flavor. The mahi special was excellent - the sauce is so good even on its own. The shrimp appetizer is delicious too - the sauce is addictive. The cheesecake was great - some of the best I’ve ever had! The Italian cake is crazy good - so light and sweet! Burger is tasty too - def worth it when they do a special
Lovely dinner with a friend. Our server Jessica was great! Attentive and friendly. We both had vodka martinis that were done to perfection. I felt that it was a bit too warm inside, but it was pretty crowded. Food was excellent. We had the pecan chicken and a roasted mushroom flatbread.
Great local fried flounder. Not too much batter covered in light chutney was perfect. Great service. Oh the lemon creme pie was really good too. My wife’s hamburger was great. I’m stuffed. Reasonable bill, good drinks and heavy pour
Went here for dinner with a group. The food and service was fantastic. I had the meatloaf which was wrapped in bacon on mash potatoes and a tomato bacon jam. The flounder was excellent as well. The server was great and helpful. The location is a nice place on the smaller side. The only item I did not like was the chairs for the high top tables, they are wicker and just uncomfortable. Overall though, I highly recommend. I would go back.
We’ve had several lunches and dinners here and highly recommend Wren. Food is creative and very good! One benefit is the restaurant is relatively quiet so easy on conversations with guests! Menu is limited but everything we’ve tried was excellent! The shrimp and the Green Fried Tomato’s are special! Their Thursday evening 3/4 lb Burger for $10 is amazing! Enjoy!
Great place! I sat at the bar for a solo dinner. Bartender was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Mahi which came out quickly and was delicious. Will definitely be back when in the area
Amazing experience from top to bottom this past July 4th weekend at Wren. Great food. Great service. Great vibes. Our server Angel was super kind & provided immaculate service. Couldn’t recommend more.
Very good smash burger!!! I've mostly eating dinner here, and always enjoyed it, but this time a friend said let's do lunch. Note that I got the single patty and not the double, which was plenty. There are quite a few other things that I want to try on the lunch menu, and I'll be back for dinner as well. Always great service, food, and atmosphere!
Had a very nice glass of Riesling and a shellfish bisque to start, Momma's Freakin' meatloaf and Italian creme cake for dessert. Very attentive service and excellent food, I would highly recommend and would return 👍👍
Today, Black Friday, we had reservations at 1 pm after the historical carriage tour. BTW, recommend this tour with Laurie. Wren was clearly understaffed, but my guess is people didn't make reservations so they were unaware how to staff for the day. We were a party of 5 and we were seated at the rear of resturant at the round table. We had a clear view of everything. Plus the table was by the kitchen. We, in amazement witnessed 2 wait staff covering the entire (full) restaurant while also greeting customers so not only waiting tables, but also doubling as the hostess. 1 bartender also pulling extra duty helping the team with tasks. One food runner and one table busser. Our group couldn't have been more impressed with the entire team. They worked seamlessly together and with impeccable speed and accuracy to ensure every customer had what they needed. And, the most impressive attribute of all of them was their cheerful and respectful personalities. On a day that was stressful they maintained composure, politeness, and got the job done. We can only imagine how many wonderful team members were in the kitchen, behind the scenes, crafting delicious meals because the food runner was like watching a combo juggler + track star as he brought dishes out to customers. Our meals were all delicious. The table busser was equally impressive turning tables so fast it was like watching the road runner zipping in to clear dishes, then racing back to sanitize before new customers were seated. I hope this review makes it to the management team, because all these team members deserve special recognition. Today, was a challenging day to manage customer expectations and the entire crew delivered a fantastic experience. Bravo 👏 👏
We had a delicious meal at Wren. The smallish menu has a tempting selection of apps, salads and entrees. Hard to choose but the two we went with were superb. Very lightly fried flounder was placed on smoked sausage rice and topped with flavorful corn and black beans. Incredible. Best preparation of flounder I've ever had. My husband's pasta was a seemingly simple combo of shrimp, tomato, pasta and cream sauce but the flavors melded into even more yumminess. Can you tell we liked it? We were too full for dessert but I saw plates going by that made me wish for it. Service was good -- Matthew ably took care of us. Cozy cool ambiance with a rustic artiness to it. Make a reservation so you're not disappointed. Wren is popular and on the smallish side for tables. The convivial bar and large high-top tables in front draw in the regulars. Great spot.
A very nice and hip place to have a meal. My husband and I happened upon Wren at an in-between time (3-5 p.m.). So the menu wasn't as full with options as we would have liked however there was still plenty to choose from. It took a little while to get seated but once someone saw us waiting they were friendly and attentive. My first choice item on the menu was sold out so I settled for soup instead. My husband ordered a burger and we split the fried green tomatoes. Everything was cooked well and presented nicely. The sauce on the fried green tomatoes was a little overpowering for the delicate tomato flavor and the whipped goat cheese made the crust a little soft. The atmosphere was amazing. It was comfortable and conducive to conversation. If we had visited a bit later in the day I would have loved to try one of their cocktails as they looked delicious. We would definitely go back to try the dinner menu. A great place to take a date or to have some upscale food.
The service was excellent and the food overall was petty good. The shrimp and grits were probably the best I've ever had. The crispy fried flounder was good, however there was too much of the corn and black bean relish. The relish overpowered the flounder. The wild mushroom flatbread was also very good. The sams pasta was ok just a little lacking in flavor.
I couldn't get photos pre-diving in! We were hungry. This place is pretty good. During our visit to Buford/Hunting Beach, we stopped here for a light dinner. I had the garlic shrimp sharable plate and the not so ordinary Caesar salad. My partner in crime had steak fries; he said it was "pretty good". I would come back again.. especially for the bread!!!
I heard about their burger nights and had to try it. For $10 you get a large portion of food! The burger was cooked to my request and was delicious. Their wine selection is limited, but the prices are sensible. Wren’s atmosphere is casual. The location is walkable from many of the downtown lodging locations.
I have been here many times and enjoyed the food. My experience with their bathroom still disturbs me. There were no paper towel only 2 less than clean rags hanging by the toilet. I told the lady busing the next table and her comment was “yes I told them but they won’t put a roll of paper towel in there.” So I told the server and he said “ we had problems with the plumbing and won’t put paper towels in BR til we got it solved. He mumbled something about a blower.” I wonder how employees wash their hands and if they use those rags hanging next to the toilet. Needless to say, I won’t go back. I will miss their chicken salad!
