First time ever stopping by the herb box! I had the best experience ever with Henry as my server and Skylar as well! They made this dine in super memorable! Give these people a raise they deserve it!! Will definitely be returning for the food but most importantly the staff!
The patio is very relaxing. We enjoyed breakfast tacos and chilaquiles verde bowl with morning cocktails. Service was fantastic and the vibe is warming and positive! We will be back! Cheers to Aubrey our server!
This place is amazing ! All of our food was great! Everyone loved their meals. We will definitely be back. Blackened Salmon BLT, Chicken BLT, Veggie Tacos, and a Bowl. My only thing was the cake! It was $12 for a slice and a big chunk of it was missing, bummed me out. The cake was delicious though.

Delicious vegan options! I was super impressed with the Brussel Sprout Chips with Lemon yellow pepper aioli!
I recently visited The Herb Box, and it was an experience worth savoring. Their salmon hash is a standout—perfectly cooked with a delightful balance of flavors that make every bite memorable. The dish is rich yet light, ideal for a brunch or even a hearty breakfast. To complement the meal, I tried their gin old fashioned, which was exceptional. The drink had a smooth, well-rounded flavor with just the right touch of botanicals, making it the perfect companion to the savory hash. For those with dietary restrictions, The Herb Box also offers a variety of gluten-free pastries that are simply delicious. Often, gluten-free options can be hit or miss, but here, they’ve truly mastered the art of baking. Each pastry was moist, flavorful, and satisfying, making it hard to believe they were gluten-free. Overall, The Herb Box delivers on all fronts—fantastic food, excellent drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a place I’ll definitely be returning too.
A peaceful quaint dining experience at this location. Love the decor and design. Happy food was very good. There are shareable plates for $10. A nice drink menu. The short rib tacos were healthy. The one drink my friend wanted with lavender as the ingredient they were out of lavender. Will definitely have to go back to try the drink and the grass-fed burger.
The steak salad was delicious!! Would definitely come back for this and the White Bean chicken chili. The steak salad was split ..steak was tender in a to die for achiote Demi glaze, salad had fresh ingredients and was very refreshing. The White Bean chili had so much flavor with just the right amount of heat. We also split the pear and sage flatbread it was good, but needed a little more pear flavor. Maybe some bigger slices, as they were very thin and small, Otherwise very good. We were greeted promptly by Taylor. She was very friendly and professional. Also very helpful explaining the dishes and offering suggestions. Next time we come to Phoenix we will definitely be visiting the Herb Box again.
Very delicious. The salads that came with the dishes were so well crafted and delicious on their own - so well thought out and executed.
After hiking/bouldering Camelback Mountain, my friend and I wanted to a sit down meal that replenish our burned off calories. My friend is vegan and we wanted to share a bunch of dishes. So we ordered the Vegan Nosh Board and one thing was better than the next! Each dish was an explosion of flavors. We also shared a Lentil Cauliflower Bowl which was also outstanding. We also had delicious iced teas and dessert to boot. The service was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
Holy MOLY! We were so impressed from start to finish! The Salmon Hash, Charcuterie, Crab Dip, Sweet Potato Fries, Latte, and even my BLT… everything was SUPERB. They handled our party of 12 with ease and I will be talking about this place for a long while!
Top tier food and drinks. I love the menus are marked for gluten and vegan preferences. I would really appreciate labels for dairy free as I have an awful intolerance but the staff was able to help me navigate that. Will definitely return!
Our wedding at The Herb Box was a wonderful and thoughtful experience. Dana and Andrea made sure every detail was thought of and executed! The food was amazing as always, our guests raved about the brussel sprouts! Thank you!
I was not a huge fan of the sweet popcorn tacos because they undercooked them slightly to give a texture and I’m was not a huge fun but the black bean mango salsa was very good! Also the Brussel sprout chips were good!
We enjoyed the patio dinning. Our server recommended the flatbread and it was one of the best I’ve had. Very good salad and tacos too.
We had a baby shower there and the service was Exceptional! John the manager went above and beyond accommodating the 16 of us! I can’t say enough great things about the manager John! The food amd services was great! They moved tables with us with ease! I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this restaurant and the service!
The food is great the service is unbelievable, it was our first time there and we will definitely be back
Texas family in the house!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️💯🇺🇸 Food was amazing as always. I eat the shrimp salad at least 1 a month
Had the Sunday brunch Chilaquilas on the bartenders recommendation. They did not disappoint. Definitely one of the best versions I have ever had.
Excellent fresh quality food with plenty of vegetarian choices - and non-veg too …. The starter Nosh Board was awesome - and the Salmon was excellent too Our service and server (Amanda) were excellent too We enjoyed our time and food
Great service, modern atmosphere, and a delicious mix of dishes to choose from, especially the veggies options and brunch 😋
I love The Herb Box! The Shea location accommodated our party of 16 for lunch. My gluten-free and vegan friends loved their meals and drinks! Shea, the manager, and her staff are so awesome!!
The Herb Box is such a gem in Scottsdale, I always feel great after dining here! The food is fresh, flavorful, and so nicely presented, with standout vegan and vegetarian options. The service is friendly and easygoing, and the mix of stylish indoor seating and a lush patio makes it perfect for any occasion. A repeat favorite!
This was our first time at the Herb Box, and I'd definitely eat there again! It's a beautifully appointed restaurant, and the staff was very helpful. I have many food allergies/sensitivities, and it's hard to find places to eat that have quality, tasty, healthy food that can also accommodate my food allergies. They were very attentive and prepared for my visit (in terms of food allergies), which I appreciate! I had the grapefruit + sugar charred salmon, which is labeled gluten free on the menu. It was delicious. It really hit the spot! They even had a gluten free, egg free, soy free, and almond free brownie I could eat, so thank you, Herb Box! It is SO rare that you can find a gluten free, egg free, soy free, and almond free treat at a restaurant, so I was pumped! My son got the steak sandwich and my daughter got the burger! We were all happy with our food!
We had an excellent experience with Herb Box hosting my sister's baby shower! Shae and Henry were delightful hosts and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The event coordinators, Mary and Taylor, ensured we had everything we needed and more. Mary had adorable menus that fit our theme perfectly and they both added special items to our menu to make my sisters shower perfect! When we arrived to the venue, the entire team helped us set up our table decorations. They even matched our desired cake decor perfectly. The food and service were all outstanding and we would love to host another event at the Herb box.
Great restaurant. The presentation of everything coming out of the kitchen was amazing. The quality of the food was excellent for all 5 meals at our table and the portions are very generous. It's also a great environment to eat at for any occasion. Probably one of the best places I have eaten at in a long time. Try it, you won't be disappointed. One last thing the deserts are incredible and I never usually get one but they are seriously awesome looking and tasting. Enjoy
Clean, attentive, respectful, delicious, caring, accommodating of diet restrictions. These are a few adjectives to describe my experience having brunch at The Herb Box. We will absolutely return whenever we're in town again.
The Herb Box was great. Tons of outdoor space for kiddos to run around. They have great gluten free options including multiple desserts (Cakes!!!). The food was good and had a strong healthy component to the menu.
We booked it on OpenTable - loved it so much I copied our review from there to make sure it gets seen more. The winter season is a challenge to find a good new place to eat on a Friday night. We had friends in town visiting from Santa Barbara. I wanted to eat healthy and have a great atmosphere. The four of us had a phenomenal time. Great service great food and can’t wait to come back. Put this place at the top of your list. Great parking.
I pass by this location often and finally decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was very clean and chic. Bartender Landis took care of me during my visit today and gave the absolute best service. Very professional and really went above and beyond, recommending dishes to try and made an amazing Herb Box Prickly Pear. I winded up settling on the Short Rib Enchiladas, which came out perfectly. I will be returning due to the awesome service and delicious food.
The staff is friendly & professional. The food was great ! The Gluten Free Sprinkles cake is to die for. So good in fact, I almost did not want to write because I want to save the cake all to myself !
I visited a couple of days during a visit to Old Town Scottsdale. I have to admit that I didn’t love my meal, but the atmosphere was great and my wife liked her meal. We started our meal with the buffalo cauliflower which my wife and I both loved. I got the BBQ sandwich on ciabatta bread. However the bread was a bun. Also, it came with sweet potato chips, which i didn’t like and couldn’t eat. Some of the chips were soft, others were burnt, and most weren’t seasoned. My wife had a turkey wrap that she liked. She said in most wraps the turkey isn’t seasoned. At the herb box they seasoned the turkey before it went into the wrap. She didn’t mind the chips. I had a mezcal Negroni which was okay. The atmosphere was good. Our waiter appeared not to be in the. EST mood, but he was nonetheless good.
Food was good but didn’t come out hot and we waited over thirty minutes to receive it. We got the enchiladas and steak salad. Both were good. I asked for the steak to be medium and it came out well done. Overall good. A bit pricey.
Overall this was a great experience. My only complaint is that they do not have a diaper changing station in either of their bathrooms.
We come here for the Salmon BLT and the lemonade. Both are "Best In Class"! The service is always excellent! The shopping center it is in is usually on the quieter side, so the oversized patio and restaurant are a chill vibe. I love it!
Had dinner with me son. He really liked the blackened shrimp avocado and my steak salad was excellent. The meals took a while to get to us but the waiter let us know there was a backup due to a large group order.
Even though I loved it a week ago for first visit I felt it was a little pricey really $20 for 2 tacos. The short rib tacos were very good, the steak sandwich was delicious but a little short on steak for the price and the salads were generous. The Atmosphere was nice with the door open to the outside, the server was attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back. Today we did go back and I had the fried chicken sliders driest chicken I've ever had burnt bun gross and pulled pork sliders dry too and tasteless and I make juicy flavorful pork myself. To be honest we came here primarily because you have a gluten free menu. I am a very good cook myself so not only was it not well prepared but overpriced too, it was very disappointing probably won't make a third trip here.I suggest you learn how to make buttermilk fried chicken or take it off the menu also the pork was just sweet not savory and juicy with a kick like I make it. And if you're going to serve brioche bun sliders have the decency not to toast the bun black and crunchy. I was embarrassed I had recommended our friends meet us here for lunch .
Went in for brunch. Great food, really nice space! Unfortunately our service was really bad. We ordered coffees and with a 97% empty restaurant, it took over 10 minutes. One of us ordered a prosecco, and it was left at the bar unattended for 8 minutes.. one of us finally got it from the bar and brought it back to our table. Oatmeal came without a spoon, and when i realized my setup didn't have a spoon in it, and there was no salt and pepper for my eggs. i had to wait another 8 or 9 minutes before the server reappeared to see how things were before i could ask for a spoon. I ate my eggs without seasoning because I hate cold eggs. It looked like other tables were getting better service so i really have no explanation other than our server was bad. All that being said, I'll definitely be back to give it another try. The food, the atmosphere, and the vibe are great!
Upon entering, staff is friendly, but the chairs in the front can use a good cleaning. The private dining room chairs also looked dirty on their lower half. My steak salad was $21 and it eas to go. Portions appeared small for the price. Food was good otherwise.
This location has potential to be really good, but when the food takes over an hour to come out, and then there are mistakes, it is a problem. The hummus veggie wrap was missing the hummus and the breakfast tacos were missing bacon. The staff seemed overwhelmed and the restaurant was empty. The table next to us left when we got there and sat a mess over an hour after. I’m not sure if it’s a staffing issue or just incompetence. Their food is good when it’s right, but the customer service and timeliness of service is concerning.
I loved the food. I'm vegetarian and this place had delicious, excellent choices. My friend and I got the nosh plate, tajin mango sprinklers, and shared. We loved everything. At first we were worried the Brussel sprout dish was too oily, but then it paired excellently with the Al dente quinoa. The food is ace. I want to try the tacos next. THAT being said... The service was awful. The restaurant was half full and of those half tables, about half of those were people actively eating versus people chatting or letting their kids play in the area (by the way, excellent outdoor seating with a small lawn area for kids to run around in). Yet somehow it took 10 minutes to even be acknowledged for a seat. 10 minutes to be asked for drink order, over 30 minutes for drinks and 1 appetizer. Over 10 minutes to get someone's eye to ask for a cheque, and we never got the cheque, we finally had to go up and say "We want to pay. Can we just pay at the bar?" Of the 5 waiters we saw and 2 hosts, nobody circulated or checked on guests and nobody scanned the restaurant to see if anyone was trying to flag them down. Both of us at the table commented how difficult it was to get the staff to do anything. For example: there was suddenly a gust of wind and one of the tables that had an umbrella fell over. The parents had just gone to collect their kids from the play area next to them and so all their stuff fell over. Glass broke, drinks everywhere, and their phones in the broken glass. Not one employee came over. It was only when *guests* started helping the couple pick their stuff out of the glass that they sent over the busboy. Honestly, if the food wasn't so good and the other location so far from me, I wouldn't be back. Regardless, I'll give them another shot but my one recommendation is someone should be training your staff!
I was so excited to try this place but was very disappointed. The service was not notably bad but also not notably good, we had to go to the counter to find someone to pay the bill, and we came pretty early so it wasn’t very busy and there were only a handful of tables occupied. There were four of us and the short rib enchiladas and shrimp salad were good, I had the burger which was average, and my husband had the rosemary fried chicken with macaroni and it wasn’t edible, the chicken was so dry he couldn’t eat it. The manager was kind enough to remove the charge for the chicken dish but if a dish is so badly cooked it has to be comped, that’s an issue. The vibe of the restaurant was good but my expectations versus what we experienced were very different and I don’t think we’ll be back.
It saddens me to say this, as I’ve been here several times and recommended the location even more. But I’ve noticed an overall decline. This evening I went for dinner, arriving over an hour before closing time, and was greeted immediately by annoyance. The restaurant was nearly empty, and it seemed to bother the hostess that I was asking for a table for two. She checked her watch MULTIPLE times, and rolled her eyes. The experience only continued to become more uncomfortable as we had to watch them sweep the floors around us, loudly shake out their garbage bags as they took out the garbage and refilled new ones, close out the drawers, shut off the lights (including in the dessert counter before I even received my food to know if I’d want to top it off with a sweet treat or not), and other closing tasks. The hostess then proceeded to sit at the front bar and rest her head while she sat on her phone, visibly annoyed and waiting for us to finish and leave. My daughter was here from out of town, and to say I am embarrassed to have chosen this place to take her to is an understatement. We were uncomfortable and contemplating just taking our food and leaving the entire time. We finished up with still a half hour before closing, and weren’t even sent off with a “have a nice night” (it was only us, she wasn’t too busy, just on her phone still….). I do want to note, the waitress who assisted us was kind and helpful, but we just could not get over the horrible atmosphere created beyond that. The three stars for food is because my steak was not cooked as I ordered, and I was too worried we would further annoy the staff to even request to send it back for an adjustment. I am hopeful this will not be anyone else’s experience, and am so disappointed to say it was mine.
It’s been a while since we had lunch here and we’re so disappointed at the food & service. Sweet potato chips used to be awesome. Came out soggy- waiter told us the reason was the high level of humidity and recent rain. It’s late August in Scottsdale, temps in the low 100’s with no measurable rain in the last 2 weeks. No traditional iced tea and no chance of making any more. Waiter adjusted the bill but not definitely very low level of concern/care.
The whole Easter brunch situation was not great. First of all, I made the reservation online a week ago and was given the option to book "standard" and so I did. The website and the booking system itself mentioned nothing about the standard menu being not available. Showed up to be told that only the brunch buffet is available (went back onto their site and now it says only buffet, where was this a week ago??). I asked about the standard option and the waitress said "oh I have many people say that to me today but only buffet". I had a little one with me that due for lunch so we just chalked it up and stayed. The buffet was $57 per head, drinks (even simple ice teas) not included. However, the food options and quality were not of the standard you would expect for a $204 tab. Sweet potato chips soggy/ chewy/ hard, steak dry, everything else just meh. Almost every party that came in after us, had the same "oh I made reservation for non buffet" conversation with the hostess, a few of them left. Been a long time customer, recommended them to many friends and even had my small wedding dinner there. This visit left a bad taste and may not return in the future.
Worst Mother’s Day Brunch EVER!!! Wow! What terrible brunch today at The Herb Box in central Scottsdale. Let’s start with the buffet location. It was outside in the heat (102 degrees today). The salads looked limp and unappetizing, The salmon was way overcooked and hard, with no hint of the promised grapefruit and sugar charred seasoning. The bacon was way undercooked, limp, fatty and greasy. The pancakes had been sitting in the stream tray for who knows how long, and the smoked gouda Mac n’ Cheese had zero cheese flavor and was just room temperature. The rosemary buttermilk chicken was, fortunately, not too overdone and had a nice flavor, but it was also just room temperature in the tray. And the very small and sad looking cheese and charcuterie board was picked over, even right at noon. To be fair, the desserts were good. Not great, but good, But several of the desserts needed to be eaten with a spoon, so naturally there were no spoons available. And no dessert plates in sight, although that was eventually fixed. On the bright side, the servers, although inattentive, were friendly and helpful if you went and tracked them down and asked for something. Maybe I was expecting too much for $57 a head. But I bet we would have had a better buffet at Golden Corral.
I ate at the Old Town Scottsdale location 2 weeks ago with friends and we all loved our food and had great service. So, I wanted to take my husband and it worked better to go to the Shea location. We had a terrible experience there. We ate indoor on an outdoor patio table, and rarely saw our waitress. My husband had the shrimp entree and I had the salmon. Both were almost inedible. The sauces were really really off. We left with upset stomachs and so disappointed. We won’t be returning.
Last time I was at this restaurant, I had the salmon dish and it was a 9 out of 10. I had it last night and it was awful. The waitress said that the salmon was cooked medium rare and I said that was fine. But it came overcooked and was very dry. The sauce was also not good. Nothing about the dish was good. I told the waitress that she should tell the chef that the salmon was overcooked and she just said "Oh". I ordered a cranberry soda for a drink and she brought me a short glass full of ice that had a about five sips of cranberry soda in it. I will never return to this restaurant.
This was our first time at The Herb Box and to say we were extremely disappointed is an understatement. To start the review on a good note, the food was fantastic. The steak salad, pork tenderloin, short ribs and rosemary chicken were something to write home about. But, that's where the good review ends. Let me preface by saying everyone in my party (4) have worked in the service industry so we are not unempathetic to a busy night, short staffed or things that may be out of the servers control. With that said, there seemed to be 2 servers and a host. No bartender. I was very observant to the other tables and they all seemed to be waiting on something, missing something and the staff moving around with little to no urgency. Two of us sat at 7pm and ordered drinks 5 minutes later while we waited for the remainder of our party. Our party arrived around 7:30 because they went to the Old Town location mistakenly... 25 minutes later the first two drinks ordered were not provided. The other two have now ordered drinks. The two who were late received their drinks first, then me and the last person the server had to re-ask what he ordered... assuming it has been 40 minutes at this point so she forgot. The food was not dropped until 8:20pm and mind you, we ordered within 5-7 minutes after the remainder of the party joined us. I made the joke that they were hunting and preparing protein in the back which is what took so long. By nearing 8:55pm (restaurant closes at 9) the staff was cleaning up, closing down the restaurant and as we were leaving (9:05pm) turned the lights off by the bathroom/bakery and coffee area. It's wild to me that they were rushing us out when they were ready to leave however, we waited all night long for them. Overall, the service was absolutely unacceptable. The experience was enough to make me never go again and normally good food can turn it all around but in this case, no. The drinks absolutely should've been comped and if I were the staff... I would've made sure I at least tried to ensure my guests left satisfied.
This is a sad excuse for a restaurant. The food is very basic, service is lack luster, and so very expensive for what you’re getting. When you think about going to a restaurant in Scottsdale you expect it’ll cost more, but that the service and food will match the price. I highly suggest them to try a little harder at a more diverse, vamped up menu and customer service training. We sat for fifteen minutes without anyone coming up to us to even offer water. We really should have just left, which is what we were contemplating during those fifteen minutes.
