The Sunset Club is praised for its stunning beachfront views, live music, and relaxed atmosphere, making it a great spot for sunsets. While the food receives mixed reviews, the overall experience is often considered worth it. Some find the self-service and bar ordering system inconvenient.

Absolutely love this place the best vibes! Watching the sunset while you’re eating and sitting in front of a fire pit, there is no way you could have a bad time ! Amazing people everybody is in a good mood and the two guys jon and Russ that run the place are the most friendly enthusiastic people I’ve ever met ! the thing that makes it the most fun is live music, local talent ! Bravo, bravo this will always be my go to place
Joey and Catherine were stellar. I was thrilled to be here and I live 5 minutes away and had never been here. They truly made an amazing experience. Great team. The service, the view and the drinks, unstoppable. Now that I know of this above and beyond place i will be back every day I have off.
The Sunset Club is a gem — amazing views, great food, and a chill vibe. Our server Emma was fantastic: super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to go back!
We came here today for some small bites and drinks, very beautiful laid back setting with live music! Emma the waitress was super sweet and accommodating with our order, shoutout to her!! Drinks are delic here! Def will come back.
The food was better than expected. Service was OK, especially during a busy day/Memorial Day weekend. The live band was awesome, lots of good energy! Book in advance for the beach tables.
Sunset Club was the best thing that happened to North Shore! Elegant beach vibes without all the strings. You come here to enjoy the beach and Sunset Club never disappoints - their staff, food, drinks and live music really hits the spot. It's always a great time so much to do! The team goes above and beyond - and the owners are always there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Highly recommend!!!
The staff here are great. From the front door person to the bussers and waitstaff. Super helpful and they work their tails off. Troy and team went above and beyond.
So happy this place is here at Tappen! It's been a long time coming and i feel the area has been waiting for someone like these experienced owners to come to this beautiful spot with so much potential. Great vibe! Great drinks! Food looked amazing! We went twice in one weekend and can't wait to go back! Loved the live music too!
Love this place but very selective on getting a table here other then that you must come early at opening to secure a table. Great vibes tho and amazing sunset
Absolutely love this spot! Discovered it recently and came back twice in the same week it’s that good. Perfect place to catch a sunset with a drink in hand. The food exceeded my expectations too, and the vibes are always on point. Definitely a new go-to!
The Sunset Club at Tappen Beach is one of those spots that’s all about the atmosphere. Set right on the sand with striped umbrellas, cozy cushioned seating, and a laid-back crowd, the place is perfect for relaxing by the water. The sunset views are stunning, and the live band really completes the vibe — chill, upbeat, and not too loud. It’s a great spot for a date night or a casual group hangout. The food is pretty solid. It’s nothing mind-blowing, but it hits the spot. The standout for me was the mussels — a generous pile for just $20, and the sauce was rich, garlicky, and perfect for dipping. Definitely worth ordering. The “Sunset in Tulum” cocktail was another highlight. It had the perfect amount of booze without being overpowering, and it paired really well with the seaside atmosphere. Service was friendly and relaxed, matching the tone of the venue. Things move at a beach pace, so don’t come expecting a quick turnaround — just lean into it and enjoy the moment. One heads-up: the sand is coarse and a bit rocky, so definitely wear sandals or something comfortable. All in all, a great beachside experience.
Great beachside restaurant with live music. Food was fine. Order via qr code Little gem wedge salad was good Guac was just okay but a fun shareable plates. Wait was 30 mjn no reservations for small parties.
I had a lovely experience at the Sunset Club located at Tappen Beach. The entire outdoor setup was welcoming, overlooking a charming beach area. I was fortunate enough to enjoy extremely pleasant weather, making the beautiful sunset even more spectacular. This is now my new favorite place whenever I visit Long Island.
One of the best spots on LI! Great atmosphere, food and drinks. Feels like a little vacation while still being local!
everything about this place is a 10/10, although we booked in advanced it was very crowded and we had to wait for a table to open up. besides that the food was fire
The Sunset Club at Tappen Beach is a waterfront restaurant known for its scenic views, especially during sunset. It offers a casual dining experience with a menu that includes a variety of food and drink options. The outdoor seating provides a relaxed atmosphere, making it a popular choice for those looking to enjoy a meal by the beach. Overall, it’s a nice destination for casual dining with picturesque surroundings.
Hosted a private party of about 60 people, and I could not have asked for a better venue. The view, the food, the service, all top-notch. John was fantastic to work with during the planning, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Special thanks to Troy for making sure everything ran smoothly!
Great hidden gem on Long Island. The view and location are outstanding along with the incredibly friendly staff and delicious food. Big upgrade from the last place and this is my new go to spot. Whether I’m coming from the beach, or dressing up for dinner they accommodate for everyone.
The view for the sunset is pretty. They have nice live music, the drink and food are good, don't wait for anything exceptional. Also the bar has a game to play at the beach.

I was just there two weeks ago The steak was phenomenal cooked perfectly and one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time The appetizers were delicious Drinks were yummy. And as somebody who was in the hospitality industry 20+ years, the kids down there not young kids, but young adults who are the servers and bartenders are absolutely exceptional in their service. They even brought out my five year-old’s food first without me even asking. The atmosphere is great. The hospitality is wonderful food was extremely delicious and satisfying We even ordered another steak because we enjoyed it so much very family oriented my five-year-old absolutely loves it down there as do we!!!
The Sunset Club at Tappen Beach was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend goes there often with her family and wanted to take me somewhere different, so I said, why not. I’m so glad we went. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was beautiful. There was a guy playing live music on a guitar, which added such a nice touch. You’re right by the water, looking out at the beach. People were playing cornhole, just enjoying themselves, and the whole vibe was relaxed and inviting. They seated us at a great table right by the sand, facing the water. The sun was shining, the view was incredible, and we had a glass of wine while soaking it all in. As the sun started to set, they turned on the fire pits in the middle of the tables, and the entire space transformed. It felt romantic and cozy, almost like something out of a movie. I loved it so much, I’m already planning to go back. I definitely want to bring my parents and anyone else I can. It was such a positive and memorable experience. Highly recommend.

Great spot to catch a beer and a sandwich during the summer, spring or fall and enjoy the view of the beaches and the bay. The food is ok , blackened fish tacos are good, the burger is fine, the drinks (beer $8) prices are not inexpensive so figure $30-50. You can also sit on the sand and eat.
It is great place with beautiful view on the bay, you can even watch a sunset here, the only thing in my opinion they need to work on the service and not the speed, which was really fast, but the attention, you have to wait for half an hour to get a server to come to you. Other then that it's a great place for the casuql lunch or dinner.
Very pricey and no table service. You have to order food at your table. If you want drinks, you have to go to the bar, even for water. Super annoying however it keeps you from wanting to drink more. Food is decent, the fries are great and the chicken nuggets were the best. Steak was tasty as well though very expensive. Cocktails were good too but again, this place should have table service. You reserve a fire pit table for $$$ but everything else is dependent on you, which is ridiculous.
We visited The sunset club as a party of 5 and we sat pretty immediately as it is open table until the parties with reservations arrive . The best tables were reserved for about 7:30pm and later as that’s when the sunset begins. I did try and get a reservation ahead of time I called 4 times and no one answered and decided to take the risk and drive almost 2 hours. Food was great, steak frites was my favorite on the menu. The drinks were strong and delicious as well and the sunset view was breathtaking. The only thing I’d recommend, that should be a *MUST* is table top fly fans because the nats were overwhelming and once the food came, it felt like we were being ATTACKED! We had to rush through our food so we can just move on to the beach unfortunately. I’ll attach a photo of what can definitely be a game changer for this establishment and hopefully the owner sees this and makes the change ASAP.
I recently visited this beachside restaurant and had a great experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, with plenty of parking available. It's a self-seating setup, and you can order and pay for your food using a barcode system, which is very convenient. The food is then brought directly to your table. Drinks need to be ordered at the bar, but it's a minor inconvenience. The bathroom is open to the public, and there's live music playing, which adds to the ambiance. There's also a kids' play area, making it family-friendly. While the food was pretty average, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I would definitely revisit.
It is a fun spot to grab drinks after work. Everything is averagely priced for Long Island. They let us sit outside while they cleaned up and got the place ready after an engagement party (this was why I gave four stars as we had made sure to call ahead to make a reservation and were not made aware that there would be service delays) overall it was great!

The beach club has an absolutely stunning view — the atmosphere is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the ocean. The service was ok and the vibe was great. The only downside was the food, which didn’t quite live up to the setting. Still, the view and overall experience made it worth visiting.

food is very expensive for what it is - but you are also paying for the view and vibes. my fiance and FIL got the steak sandwich and it came on a martins potato bun, which did not hold the sandwich together. def expect more from a $28 steak sandwich. i got the mediterranean bowl and it was VERY acidic. If it didn't add on chicken it would have been inedible. the fries were great! you have to order via qr code. if you want any kind of drink (water, soda, cocktail), you need to go to the bar prob wouldnt come back unless i was grabbing drinks and bar food. view is great though!!
For how expensive the food is I thought it would be better service. You order on a QR code, drinks are ordered at a bar that’s packed. We had go ask for utensils and the FLIES were everywhere. I probably ate one too . waited an hour. Food was good
Location is great, it's on the beach how could it not. Did not eat there because i read the reviews and wasn't sure I wanted to. Seemed pricey for not great review s. The seating is very poor. If you want a table you need to wait till someone gets up then move quickly. If you are slow you will never be seated. No person to take your name and put you on list. Picnic tables so if you need to lean back you are out of luck. The bar was packed and the band was great! Drinks were pricey. Way to many kids running around as there is a playground next to restaurant. Parents can have drinks while their kids run wild.
A real shame! What a beautiful place this is. We’ve been going for years. Had our daughter’s 1st birthday here. We’d bring out of town visitors for dinner & drinks. Been for so many fun dinners with our friends & our kids. So sorry to say it is way overpriced for what you get. I can’t believe how much worse the food is.. at least with Beach Bar, you got decent food & awesome portions for the price you pay. Same prices-only tinier sandwiches with a mountain of fries. Mediocre salads. Kids nuggets & fries were the best thing on the table! We will be back for happy hour or after dinner drinks. But that is it. Service was great & can’t beat the sunset. Hopefully they can get the food together or the bar scene keeps them alive. It was DEAD when we were there on a gorgeous summer day!
The food was good. The location & ambience, perfect. You can eat as you watch the sunset. I like the fact that it’s family friendly. I do feel the food and drinks are overpriced but I’d still come back for the ambiance. My only complaint is the variety of food options on their menu. The shareable’s in my opinion are appetizers not everyone likes. The only appetizers that I believe most likely everyone would enjoy is the chips and guacamole. Overall it’s a nice spot for a quick bite or relaxing with good company or alone. I do recommend.

Oh man this place made me REALLY miss BEACH BAR. Self-seating and no waiters creates a chaotic and overcrowded environment. Many people had no idea what to do while there. Food was ok at best. Portions were MUCH smaller than Beach Bar and more expensive. Much smaller menu as well. Physical menu and phone menu (had to order no matter what on phone) had different prices with phone menu being more expensive than what was shown on physical menu. Only the ice cream is worth going back for. Furniture was wobbly as someone at my table fell of the bench. No staff knew about it cause again, no waiters. Wanted to ask for more ketchup but since no waiters that was not really possible. No one checks to see how your meal is going. Water is self-serve. What's the point in paying for a tip at that point? Can't order drinks with your meal or during your meal, you have to go to the bar and wait while your food gets cold. Pretzels were awful, Beach Bar had AMAZING pretzels. Beach Bar had a bigger menu, bigger portions, was great for kids, and their food was delicious. We miss our waiter from there too. Beach Bar was better in every way. Much more pleasant and relaxing too. Please BRING BACK BEACH BAR!!!
Went for lunch 4 adults and 2 children. Self service ordering and have to go to bar for drinks. 3 adult meals were served first and had to wait additional 15 minutes for last adult meal and kids meals. Appetizers were served after the meals were served. I was told if you want appetizers served first you have to order them separately before you order meals. Don’t bother ordering the steamers they were terrible. They were tough and were not fresh. Not worth the money.
First visit on 7/24/23 - Interesting: order your food/drinks at the bar or via the phone app. Interesting: food prices are noted on menu, but drink prices are NOT. Surprise: drinks are expensive. Two orders of fish tacos at $19 each (arrived cold) and three drinks - $118!! Tipping (?) Except for the food delivered to the table, it's self-serve, including finding your own table. Best parts of the visit - the view, breezes and Derek Adam's music.
Atmosphere is about the only thing you go here for. After 20 minutes of looking for a table on our own, a couple who were leaving said they’d be leaving in about 10 minutes if we wanted their table. We said sure. Patiently waited and just as we finished wiping off the table ourselves the manager runs up and puts reserved sign on the table.! He said they were short staffed and needed to give the table to people who just arrived and left! Besides making no sense at all we didn’t move. He came back and said they needed a table for 3 so we could stay there. Like we were ever going to give up our seats!!! Food was terrible-cold when it should have been hot, stale when you expected fresh and you have to pay and tip before when you order from a QR code. Really not a dining experience we will experience again! I will say it was nice to be on the beach though.

Don’t bother, there is no device, they add at least 15%, need to get your own water. Place is not clean and way too loud. Empty tables but they asked me to wait.
We were told it would be an hour wait for a table for dinner, after 2 hours waiting we got a notification we were removed from the waitlist. The staff then rudely told us the kitchen was closing and when we asked what we were supposed to eat now they said “I don’t care you can buy some pretzels to go” ….. so unprofessional & rude we couldn’t believe it
I am not the type to leave a review but this was hands down the worst experience I have ever had. Showed up at 6:00 well aware there was going to be a wait and had zero problem when I was told 30-45 minutes for 2 people. After over 2 hours I was unexpectedly removed from the waitlist and had to find an employee. After finally sitting down I went to get a drink which itself took another 20 minutes, and I can’t even blame the bartenders because by the looks of it, the bar was half stocked with only 3 people on Memorial Day weekend. We placed our order using the QR code and waited another hour before we had enough. Manager did refund us easy enough and offered an incentive if we were to come back but at this point we had been there for close to 4 hours and had eaten nothing so we just wanted to leave. Employees were very friendly and I feel bad for them because as someone with plenty of restaurant experience, I have never seen a more poorly run system from top to bottom. I hope they figure it out because they have a fantastic location but as it stands, I would not be back if it was the only food for miles.
Nice place to relax and unwind, but I noticed something concerning after paying at the front, my bank statement shows I was charged more than expected. It feels a bit shady.. make sure to check your account once you’re home
