This last Christmas I had the most spectacular meal at the George with my girlfriend. The service was excellent. They were more than thrilled to make our evening special. Food was excellent. I had the half duck and she had a beef and polenta dish that was excellent. The cocktails were phenomenal. We're never going to forget this place because it is where I decided to ask her to marry me! Thank you, George and Fairmont staff.
Was staying at a nearby hotel and came for breakfast. It goes without saying the interior is absolutely stunning. The colors, the furniture, art just blends so well together. The quality of the decor is only matched by the food. Everything was fresh, seasoned and delicious. Would recommend the Dungeness crab omlette or the salmon lox for a lighter meal. There is plenty of meat incorporated in each dish so you don't feel skipped out on. For kids, I think the best wasn't the pancakes but the fresh vanilla yogurt and berries. The service was excellent as well. Each team member was in sync making sure our drinks were always full and refreshed. They would often check in to ensure everything was up to their standards and I appreciate that greatly. Will certainly be back, hopefully for dinner next time.
This restaurant came up a few times in my search. So on our last night in Seattle we decided to try it. Such a pretty location. Our server was very attentive and made suggestions for us. Our Oysters were fresh and tasty. Our drinks well made and our server even made us a version of a green tea shot. Our meat was well cooked and flavorful. Overall an excellent experience here. The only draw back, bring a sweater it was a bit chilly. It was a great way to say goodbye to Seattle.
We came to Fairmont for a date night: got our massages, relaxed in the spa zone and then went for a dinner. The George features unique interior, attentive service and interesting tastes. We ordered a couple of appetizers, 2 mains and a desert and everything tasted fresh and balanced. My husband loved the sirloin stake the best and I enjoyed my wagyu burger. The tiramisu for 2 was a nice touch as the end of the dinner.
A True Seattle Gem This review has been long overdue, but it’s finally time to sing the praises of my favorite restaurant in Seattle — George, located in the elegant Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Every visit here reminds me why this place stands out as one of the city’s finest dining experiences. The atmosphere is warm, bright, and inviting, striking that perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. Whether you’re there for a special occasion or a casual evening out, the ambiance makes you feel instantly welcome. The service deserves special mention — friendly, fast, and efficient. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, and every interaction feels genuinely warm. Now, onto the food, which is consistently delicious and beautifully presented. We started with the Organic Skagit Sourdough Loaf served with thyme whipped butter and Maldon sea salt — warm, soft, and the perfect start to the meal. The Burrata Salad was wonderfully fresh and flavorful. The Warm Dungeness Crab Dip with artichoke, crab claws, and garlic breadcrumbs was rich, creamy, and absolutely delightful. The Spanish Octopus was good but could have been slightly better in texture. However, the Scallops more than made up for it — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The desserts were nothing short of exceptional. The Chocolate Fudge Cake was indulgent, the Pumpkin Panna Cotta was smooth and beautifully spiced, and the Chocolate Dome with Cherry Cordial was as stunning as it was delicious. Overall, George delivers a near-perfect dining experience — exquisite food, top-notch service, and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a refined yet approachable meal in the heart of Seattle.
Loved our experience here. The George burgers was exceptional and full of flavor yet had too many gristles. I donot recommend the crab dip. For a family of 5 we ran out of chips and it was not hot when served. Overall good experience.
I had a great experience at The George. My brunch of the Sweet Potato Hash with the optional sunny side up egg was delicious, and gluten free (I have celiac disease). Plus the atmosphere was stunning. Our service was quick, friendly and professional thanks to Thomasina.
The George is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. They remodeled during covid and it's even more stunning now than ever. The food is great (perhaps the best burger I've ever had) and so is the overall vibe. Plus, it's connected to the Fairmont Hotel bar and lobby which was also remodeled recently and is beautiful enough to be on magazine covers.
An elegant place with a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food! The waiter was polite, and the service was top-notch. The dinner menu had a slightly limited selection, but everything we ordered was very tasty and beautifully presented!!!
An exceptional restaurant with a warm, inviting ambiance and outstanding service. The breakfast was superb. I ordered the Dungeness crab omelette, and it was truly unlike anything I’ve ever had before. We were looked after by Thomasina, who was absolutely wonderful and made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely return and highly recommend this place.
Honestly, the food was good. Nothing to write home about, came for a Valentine’s Day dinner (with my hubby). BUT this five star review is because this place literally puts cushions under the table for your knees. A woman had to have thought of that, and for that… 5 stars. Just felt like someone needed to share appreciation for the *details*.
I dined here two mornings in a row while I was staying at the Fairmont and both days I had a lovely experience. I was traveling with my husband and each day and we had no problem getting seated quickly. We were here during the week so it’s possible weekends get busier. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious. Day 1 I wanted a lighter breakfast due to lunch plans so my husband and I shared the bagel & lox and got a side of sausage. It was very fresh and a perfect light bite. Day 2 I got the eggs Benny and added ham. It came with breakfast potatoes. Eggs were poached perfectly and everything was very tasty. Eggs Benny was also a large portion of food. I got coffee and mimosas both days as well. A little pricey but worth it for when on vacation, special occasion, or to simply treat yourself to a refined dining experience.
We had a great experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was well-prepared and flavorful — we’ll definitely be coming back.
This place was perfect for breakfast. Everything was delicious the staff was amazing and the atmosphere was phenomenal. It’s one of the few places open early for breakfast on the weekend downtown. The food was great. We had the regular breakfast with eggs any style, meat of choice, toast and coffee. The potatoes were amazing and I need to figure out how they cooked them. They were seasoned well. Our waitress was super nice and really took care of us. Great experience and will make this our new place for early morning coffee and breakfast when we’re in Seattle.
Dined with a small group of colleagues while at s conference in a private dining area. Service was wonderful, food was delicious!
Amazing atmosphere, amazing staff- EVERYONE treated us with care! Got a special desert cake for wife’s birthday which was super special and tasty! The burger I got was amazing and the salads were great, but the other dish we ordered was not. We didn’t want to look picky so we didn’t say anything. But super cool place to visit! Parking is limited unless you park in garage which is also pricey
We went for dinner on Friday and loved the atmosphere, drinks, and food! 🫶🏼 The only issue was service — some dishes came much earlier than others, and we waited over 40 minutes for burgers, which made us late for our next reservation. But maybe it happened because of Friday evening is the busiest time.
We had an amazing breakfast at The George in Seattle! The ambiance is elegant and inviting, with beautiful decor that makes the whole experience feel upscale yet comfortable. The food was outstanding — we ordered the Dungeness Crab Omelette, which was flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the pancakes topped with fresh strawberries, which were fluffy and just the right amount of sweet. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The crispy breakfast potatoes and fresh cherry tomatoes on the side were a nice touch! Service was top-notch. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It’s clear they take pride in delivering a memorable dining experience. This is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Seattle — can’t wait to come back!
My friend and I had a really lovely brunch at the George this morning. We both ordered the eggs Benedict, they came out perfectly poached. Their espresso martini is especially delicious. The service was top notch. Highly recommend, will happily dine again!
The food, atmosphere AND service were amazing! We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday and received an extra cake with dessert. Highly recommend! Our total was $285 after taxes and tips. We got one cocktail and two sodas with our order. There is an additional 3% charge to the subtotal for the kitchen staff added.
It was my best experience at a restaurant. For almost 4 years of living in Seattle, I found an impeccable restaurant. The waiters are very friendly and kind people. My friends and I booked a table for a certain hour, but we got into an accident on the way. And we were an hour late. But we were accepted anyway. We liked all the food and drinks. The seafood was very fresh and very tasty! Thank you for this experience, now I recommend this restaurant to everyone. But I will only go here. And they also saw on my id that I recently had a birthday. They brought me a piece of cake, it was very impressive, I was sensitive. Thank you
One of the most beautiful dining spaces in Seattle. I was there for breakfast & the staff were very nice - they even gave me a plate of macarons & chocolates to celebrate my birthday. 💖
Had an amazing lunch at the Fairmont Hotel! Everything was great from start to finish. Perfect for a special occasion or a classy midday treat. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavor, with high-quality ingredients and thoughtful details in every dish. Service was impeccable attentive, professional, and warm without being overbearing. A truly elevated lunch experience that made the day feel extra special. Highly recommend!
Food was great. The rack of lamb was probably the best along with the seafood tower. The tower has cut up lobster, crab, shrimp, oysters and thin slices of salmon with dipping sauces. You will spend some money for sure but it's worth it. I hit this place on my 45th birthday and I am not rich by any means. We ordered drinks as and deserts and went all out.
This place is nestled in the Fairmont hotel in Seattle and has a luxurious feel from the moment you step in. The food was great, the staff we're friendly, and I truly appreciated the ambience of this space. I was pleasantly surprised by the crab dip, being from Maryland. I’m pretty critical of Crab-anything from other states, but they nailed it! For the girl who is looking for an Instagramable place, you’re not only getting here, but you also get amazing food with it.
Very busy upon arrival and we were thankful to have gotten a reservation for our anniversary. I'll get crispy Brussels anywhere I go! The ravioli was earthy, light, and the golden raisins were a nice fruity contrast. My gentleman had the steak and he said it was delicious with the truffle jus. The tiramisu is massive and comes in it's own tin. It says for 2 but 4 could easily share.
Great place to eat before heading to the symphony! Delicious food (amazing heirloom tomato salad appetizer- must have! Also the lemon dessert 🤤) with attentive and kind service.
Food was good. Im sure most ppl like it like my dinner guests. Scallops and salmon were overcooked for my own preference but I understand restaurants have to cook for general public. I did try to tell waitress I like mine less done but she said it'd be fine. Just dont like having to use knife on scallops. Imo they should just kinda melt open when you poke them w the fork. Was impressed w the grain and fruit mix they lay the scallops on though. Added more moisture to the dish which I appreciated. One of the other diners did have allergy which server was really good about working with but forgot during dessert - its ok we asked about it once dessert was served before they ate any. Never had to ask for water refills which was very nice. Felt attended to. Took a while to get the check but it was busy and splitting it was a bit complicated.
Located inside the Fairmont, it's an absolute charming place to eat. I sat at the bar and the staff was very pleasant. I'm a little sad I didn't realize and get the full fill of the removing the dome and smoke rising from the steak tartare. I did need a touch more salt on mine and preferred it without the toasts. The onion soup and whiskey smash were absolute perfection!! I originally walked in when I saw octopus on the menu in older photos, sad but no longer offered. However, I loved every moment of being here.
I escaped one day from congress to have breakfast in this restaurant. Very nice and elegant place, friendly staff. Breakfast was good, just orange juice could have a better taste. People should go better dressed, I saw some guys wearing shorts.
I can’t recommend visiting The George enough! I will be talking about the cappucino french toast for months. The scone cart was amazing, honey butter and fresh whipped cream and beautiful addition. Completely baffled by the salmon crudo and burrata salad as appetizers. Photo not included of the eggs benedict though it was indeed noteworthy. The hollendaise was perfectly light, fresh, and buttery. The elegant ambiance of The George is not to be understated. 10/10!!
Beautiful place and relaxing ambiance. Food exceeded our expectations: we had salmon, all sides (brussel sprouts were the best), and crab dip - I'd order all of them again! Desert (s'mores cake) was the only dish that didn't impress me, though it was still good, just nothing special.
The atmosphere does most of the heavy lifting here however that also means it was perfect for a small birthday dinner. Very few vegetarian options.
The ambiance and the service are what sets this restaurant apart from so many other restaurants in seattle. Beautiful and charming! The food wasn't bad, it was just too expensive for what we got. Bagel was store bought and stale for the salmon lox. Dungeness crab toast was tasty but small for the price, with a little too much arugula. I could have made an Olympic breakfast better at home.
This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service, and a nice menu. A good choice for a business meeting or even a date. The place is bright with high ceilings and natural light, a contrast to the darker library themed bar that you have to walk through. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the food was pretty good but not exceptional. My scallops were dry. The roasted carrots looked like they had better days. Overall, I would still come back and would just order something different.
I visited The Gorge in Seattle yesterday for a Valentine’s Day dinner with my husband. We chose it because they were advertising a Valentine’s special that included multiple appetizers, live music, and fresh “roses” Unfortunately, the experience was not what was promoted. When we arrived, there was only a single rose on the table instead of “ exquisitely adorned with fresh florals” and there was no live music. Service was also slow, and each dish took a while to arrive after every course. I asked our server about the live music, but he didn’t have an answer. I then spoke with the manager, who told me the musician had canceled last minute. I understand things happen, but I believe guests should have been notified ahead of time, especially when live music was part of the advertised experience. That said, the food was good, and the restaurant is beautiful. The quality of the food is the main reason I’m giving 3 stars. However, the portions were very small, and for the price, the overall Valentine’s experience did not feel worth it.
Creme brulee was way overcooked. It was so "eggy" and rubbery. The waitress said they do not validate for parking. If you want appetizers, main and dessert then you have to order the 3 courses. The service was lacking. They saw my unfinished creme brulee but never ask how the food was. We had to hunt down the sever. The service here isn't as attentive. I rather go to Charlotte. The salmon and shrimp dishes were on point. The drinks were good too. It was not super busy so wished they would space customers out better. Brunch came with scones. The scones were buttery. Decor was on point.
I recently dined at The George, a restaurant with an impressive 100-year legacy. The ambiance is truly its highlight—charming and steeped in history, making it a unique spot that feels special just to visit. The food was good but not extraordinary. The steak we ordered was enjoyable, though not the best I’ve had compared to similar establishments. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. The waiter seemed slightly annoyed by some of our questions about the menu, which felt unnecessary. Additionally, one staff member handed us fries and referred to them as "num nums" in a way that came off as condescending—an odd interaction that left us puzzled. There was also an issue with the payment system, which almost resulted in an overcharge of $70. While this was eventually resolved, it was an inconvenience that added some frustration to the experience. Despite these hiccups, I’d still return to The George. Its charm and historical significance make it a fun place to visit, even if the food and service weren’t perfect. It’s not a spot I’d rave about for the culinary experience, but its unique character makes it worth every penny.
Last year, my granddaughter and I had a PERFECT experience for the Holiday Tea. This year, not as much. We asked to be seated in David's area, but were not. We were seated in the back, next to a table of rambunctious children. It was very chilly, as our table was very close to the door near the the bar. Our server was not terribly attentive; I was surprised that I had to request cream...for our tea. The most embarrassing thing, though, was being called by the hostess when I was literally in the ladies room stall. I told our server where we were headed, my granddaughter placed her napkin on the back of her chair. I left my $500 cashmere wrap on my seat. The hostess wanted to know where we were, what we were doing, and would we be heading back to our table. All of this in a full ladies room for everyone to hear my end of the conversation. This put a huge damper on the second half of our experience. So, that's how our so-called tradition was on December 13th at 1:00. Feel free to contact me at any time. You should have my contact information.
I visited this restaurant for my birthday in December. The atmosphere was lovely and the building itself is iconic, so the setting was really nice. However, there were a few issues. We had to wait about 45 to 55 minutes for our food, which was quite a long wait. I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu, around $110, and it was absolutely enormous—too big for one person. Plus, I asked for medium and it came out medium-rare. On top of that, one of the items we ordered never arrived, but it still ended up on the bill. So definitely check your receipt right at the table so you can clear up any issues on the spot.
It's been a month or so since I last went to be entirely honest, but a friend had asked about it so I was reminded once again about how disappointing the food was. Service is great and the place looks wonderful too! That saves it to some extent. However, the food itself was a bit bland. Perhaps my taste are just different. At the very least, I enjoyed the warm dungeness crab dip. My main entrée though was a bit cold and, for the price, I expected more taste. Worth a try I suppose, simply for the experience of going, but would not go again.
Wanted to pop in for a cocktail and sit at the bar. There were two open seats at the bar. The hostess was rude and cold and didn’t seem to understand that we were asking her to check whether the gentleman standing at the bar was just grabbing drinks to go vs actually sitting (it was the former). We didn’t want to take up a table just for drinks, because we’ve both worked in service and you just don’t do that lol. The hostess literally said “The bar is full. I don’t know what you want me to say,” which was bizarre… we considered leaving but went to the bar and sat ourselves in the two open seats. Drinks were tasty and the bartender was friendly, but gave us the wrong menu with drinks he couldn’t make so we had to reorder. Two cocktails were $56 before tip (friend asked for an NA cocktail to be made with gin instead and was charged for both the NA spirit and the gin). Not quite the service you want from a nice place like this 😅
We had recently gone here for a date night with the hope of a really nice quiet dinner in a relatively fancy establishment. This was anything but that. 10/10 on ambience. 0/10 on class. Our server was making us exceptionally uncomfortable with mocking faces when we ordered and plainly acting like we made wrong decisions, but played it off as a “joke”. The food that we had was fantastically bland. I had gotten the black cod, which was not seasoned, and maybe only 3oz. My girlfriend had gotten the steak frites. The steak arrived barely like warm, and the frites(basic shoestring fries) came cold and covered in dry paprika. We ultimately didn’t want the hassle of dealing with replacements and wanted to pay the bill. However, the server seemed shocked at this and when handing the bill, tried to click their own 25% tip on top of this already lackluster $200 meal.
We dined at The George on Saturday evening with a 6:30 p.m. reservation and, unfortunately, left feeling quite disappointed overall. I want to start with the positives. Our server was genuinely friendly and attentive throughout the evening, and the Dungeness crab dip was absolutely delicious — easily the highlight of the meal. Although we were seated promptly, our main courses didn’t arrive until nearly 8:00 p.m. We were told the kitchen was backed up, which we understand can happen, but the delay was significant. Service timing with drinks was also inconsistent. My dining partner received her wine promptly both times we ordered, but there was a 10+ minute gap before my beer arrived on each round. To the server’s credit, the second round was comped, which we appreciated. When the food finally arrived, my companion’s entrée was at the proper temperature, but my burger was lukewarm, the fries were cold, and the side of Brussels sprouts — while tasty — was also only lukewarm. After such a long wait, this was especially disappointing. We didn’t mention it to the server at the time; after being there for an hour and a half, we just wanted to eat and leave. For context, we previously had breakfast at The George and it was excellent. Unfortunately, this dinner experience did not live up to that standard, and we won’t be returning for dinner. Two stars: one for the service, and one for the crab dip.
My husband and were staying in the hotel for Valentines Day and I made reservations for dinner well in advance. I received a text message about a month before the reservation requesting that I pay over $400 in advance of the event. I thought it was a scam so deleted the text message. I received more texts and a phone call from the restaurant letting me know that I needed to put a credit card down for the event. I tried calling the restaurant several times and got no response until the 4th try and I finally got someone on the phone. They let me know the text was an error and I didn't need to pay in advance. So, that was that and our reservation was still there. Two weeks before the event I got a notice that my reservation was going to be cancelled because I had not paid the over $400 in advance. So, I called again to figure out what was going on. I got someone on the 3rd call and they let me know because it was Valentines Day and because they had a set menu I needed to put a credit card on file to keep the reservation. I gave my credit card information and still ended up getting a cancellation notice. I had to call back again and was able to get someone right away this time and they confirmed my reservation was still there, even though it was gone from Open Table. I requested and email and text confirmation. I figured I better cover myself in the event they said I didn't have a reservation day of. I have never had such a trial to reserve a table in my life. No to the actual event. We were told there was a set menu and I received an email confirmation with the meal that was set for the day which seemed like a good meal. When we arrived they gave us a completely different menu with different options than what I was told with the original reservation. Fine, I can pivot. We had a couple choices between a vegetarian option, surf & turf and a stuffed quail. We both chose surf and turf which stated a 6oz tenderloin with lobster hollandaise glacage. When the meal arrived there were two small pieces of tenderloin, potatoes, a quarter of a fennel bulb and I could not find the lobster. I figured it may be coming out on a separate plate??? But upon further inspection found what appeared to be some hollandaise sauce in the center of the plate and a half dollar size of what appeared to be shredded pink meat. There was no visible lobster tail or even pieces just what appeared to be flaked meat like you would find in a can of tuna. Hmm.... The fennel was inedible very crunchy and zero flavor. The potatoes were fine and the steak was okay. The best part of the meal was the wine pairing which was an upcharge but it was overall the best part. I was very underwhelmed especially when dessert came and was again not at all what was originally described. The cakes were flavorless or overly sugary with little substance. Overall paying over $400 for this meal was a major disappointment. I had a Bed & Breakfast package but still we had to make reservations for breakfast the next morning which was fine. I received another text message that the reservation had been changed only to find it was originally made for 5 people instead of 2. But still it was frustrating to see so many issues with just getting a reservation. The breakfast was fine but I would say not very memorable and cost over $100. They charged for plain black coffee $9 which was refillable but still, and I had to pay $6 to get a glass of plain tomato juice. It was a very expensive breakfast which was just so so. I have had so much better elsewhere for much less. Overall I wasn't impressed especially for the price. The serves did a great job, but it just wasn't up to the standard I would put for the price I paid.
UPDATE: Recently went for their Valentine's Day set menu, and was very disappointed, especially considering how positive my original review was. After assuring me multiple times over messages and phone calls that they could accommodate a dairy allergy, their "accommodation" was terrible. We even asked them what option on the menu would be best for dairy free, and went with their suggestion, so it should have been easy. They served a "fillet oscar" with no crab, no sauce of any kind, and -- most baffling -- no seasoning or herbs that were clearly visible on other plates. We spoke up to the manager and they tried to offer some fixes, which was appreciated, but at that point the damage was done (again, I want to stress that we gave them every advantage and went with their recommendation). Even after speaking to the manager, for dessert they again tried to bring out a dairy dessert before we corrected them. I would come back for brunch, but I would avoid any set menu days. Unfortunately, they just do not seem to be able to bring the same level of service to those menus -- a menu which cost two people nearly $600, and did not measure up at all. They were clearly overwhelmed. Such a disappointment when everything else about the hotel is gorgeous. The Founders Club speakeasy is incredible, and if there is a next time, we might just stay there for dinner. ORIGINAL: Beautiful hotel. The atrium decorated for the holidays is very classy. We went for breakfast at the restaurant, and everything was tasty and the service was friendly and fast. The Teddy Bear Suite for Christmas was also adorable.
In September, my fiancé and I hosted our engagement brunch at the Fairmont Olympic, choosing The Petite private dining room. While the food was good, the service was extremely poor. Upon arrival, I noticed that only twelve settings and chairs were prepared even though I informed the Fairmont’s coordinator that the guest count was 13 people and a baby. Most of our guests did not receive their complimentary juice or bubbles (included with the 3 courses). In the bill, we are charged for three juices and can guarantee they were not refills. Our server failed to tell and offer each person a drink. After placing our orders, we waited 1 hour for our appetizers, and it was not until 5 minutes prior to the appetizers arriving that we were offered complimentary scones. I would have preferred that scones be offered after placing our orders rather than right before food came out. I waited 15 minutes for my mocktail, but it arrived within a minute of me asking what’s taking so long. After the main course was served, it was difficult to get ahold of anyone for additional cutlery, drink refills, or new drink orders. Everyone working at The George was very kind, but poor service is extremely disappointing when we're paying over $2000 on this brunch (which includes a 25% service fee). To add insult to injury, when these complaints were brought up to the coordinator, Long Hui, they did apologize but their idea of making things right was to offer a refund for the $18 juice charge and offer complimentary tea at The George. I understand that tea at The Fairmont is supposed to be lovely and an escalated experience, and while they didn’t have to offer anything, some tea and a few scones isn’t going to make it right when it was the service that sucked, not the food. Additionally, the manager at The George (Emma) was copied on the email and didn’t bother chiming in to apologize. Our server was kind, but it’s the failure of the coordinator and manager to only provide one server and no additional help for a party of 14.
TL:DR drinks are good, food is mid at best-incorrect at worst, service is meh, way too expensive for what you get. There are too many better/cheaper restaurants within a 2 block radius to dine here. My fiance and I went to The George for 2 reasons: 1) to try it out as a possible venue for our wedding dinner and, 2) to go somewhere fun and fancy before a show at the 5th Avenue Theater as the restaurant is about a 2 minute walk away. With a 7pm showtime we figured a 5:30 dinner reservation would be fine enough for that 2 minute walk, and when we arrived 10 minutes early there were maybe 3 other tables seated and an event happening in the private space. Service was... fine, the bartenders and bussers did most of the heavy lifting and engaging throughout the night. We got apps and drinks relatively quickly, but that's about the last positive point of our experience. We put the order in for our mains (1 steak, medium rare, and 1 order of pasta) at just past 6, and for the next 54 minutes we are pretty much ignored except for the bartender and bussers. Finally I get our waiter's attention at 6:54 because I would like to make our 7pm showtime, and low and behold our food is almost immediately ready and they get it to us just in time for us to have 4 minutes to try and down this way too expensive steak while paying the check. The kicker? 54 minutes wasn't even enough time for them to cook it to medium rare, the thing was barely seared passed blue which made trying to eat it in 4 minutes even harder due to the poorly rendered fat. If we were not already running late due to the poor timing I would have brought it up as an issue in-house at the time, but I didn't want to completely ruin our night by totally missing the show (Spamalot, it was fantastic even after this mess). End of the day I'm out far too much money for a far too mediocre steak, and we missed the opening number of our show! Very disappointing for a restaurant attached to an institution like the Fairmont. At least it makes the decision on where our wedding dinner will be a little bit easier.
When you include the 20% tip, the incentive for great service disappears. So unfortunately we left when we had to wait 30 min for our reservation. We were an hour in with our first meal. So don’t go in hungry at this place. I definitely don’t recommend this place on the weekend. It’s a Very aesthetic place don’t get me wrong, great for pictures. But for anything else it’s just disappointing. Went to Vons 7 min walk, for great food and service for half the price.
We visited for brunch on February 15. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was beautiful, but the service was incredibly slow. We waited about an hour for our meals, and people who arrived after us were served before we were. Unfortunately, the service was a big disappointment, and I don’t think I’ll be coming back despite how good the food was.
