The best! The ceviche is the very best in California! The meal experience is just that. A delicious journey of flavors that will have your taste buds jumping for joy. Impeccable service, enjoyable atmosphere, a must go to whenever we travel and visit Sonoma County.
The food was delicious and the service was exceptional! We had a group of 8 arriving at different times at our table for 8, and not once did they make us wait for all 8 to arrive at the same time. We all eventually arrived and ordered more food and drinks throughout the night. The service was incredible and welcoming! An amazing experience for sure!!! Thank you!!
An excellent Meal, we dined to take out. Worthy of our recommendation and without question a return visit!
The best premium margarita. Our fav is the elegante. We like to sit out in the patio bar when weather permits. Great wait staff. They are always friendly and prompt.
I have gotten take out from this place 3 times so far and sometimes for groups of 20+! They never disappoint! The food is always so great and the folks who work there are always so nice to speak with. Highly recommend this place!
Wow! We went here for my daughter's 21st birthday and this was hands-down the best service I have never received. The staff kept our waters full and the complementary dips and chips were amazing. The manager stopped by our table multiple times to check on us. We told them how happy we were with the service and they brought us a complementary dessert as well as complementary shots. I highly recommend this place. We will be coming back next time we are in the area.
The servers are all very attentive and service was great. I thought the food was good but it didn't blow me away by any means. The Margaritas we had were very well made.
Our favorite place! Service is always friendly and kind. Food and Margaritas are perfect. Free chips and salsa and the most delicious beans you've ever had. We've never had a bad experience. Anyone who visits, we take them here! ❤ Tonight there was a small hiccup (which they fixed quickly, we didn't even know it had happened!) and when our check came we noticed they had taken off our margs. So sweet (and unnecessary!) but it made our day. 🥰
Samuel instantly made me feel like family coming home for dinner. Such a warm welcome. The drinks and food are excellent and well priced. The restaurant is clean and has a fabulous outdoor patio with a fountain helping to mask the road noise.
Had a very nice waitress. 1 server did bring us another tables order and our waitress caught it but we had already started eating and she handled the situation well. The Cevichie was delicious and the Crab and Shrimp enchiladas were fantastic. It wasnt what I expected from that dish. What brought me to try the restaurant was the taco truck they run that serves a lot of business and construction works it's. I recommend trying this place.
Food was amazing, have been there a few times over the last couple of months. Service has always been great. This last time they were super busy so service sacrificed a bit. Others might have given them a lower score for service, but we understood they were busy with a tour bus stopping in. They did their best to accommodate and were very apologetic. This will not stop us from coming back. Their Molcajete is the best. Bring your appetite or share.
Absolutely wonder experience and incredible food.
Amazing service, the waitresses were very attentive. Although the owner seemed to reprimand a gentleman who also worked there giving him advice but not in a nice way and in front of customers. I speak Spanish, so I understood, and that should be done in private.
Always a great food place on the way home. The staff always smile and make you feel welcome. We live in Valley Ford and stop in for a tasty margaritas and super delicious cuisine. Most of the time they are super busy but we are acknowledged and the service is professional . Love it,;,will keep coming back and bringing family and friends. YOU ROCK!!!
El Coronel has been our favorite restaurants for dining out since it opened. The staff is always friendly and delightful. The service is usually very quick. The atmosphere is always inviting and warm. The decor is delightful and pleasant to the eyes. We have really enjoyed the addition of the outside dining patio during the warmer spring and summer months. The food is delicious and El Coronel has such a variety items on the menu that even after many years of dining here we have yet to sample every dish. El Coronel is one of our top restaurants of choice when dining out with our friends. You can't go wrong to with choosing El Coronel for a delicious enjoyable dining out experience with family and friends.
I had an experience I could have never expected. So beautiful inside. I felt like I was actually in Mexico. You could tell Right away how quality a place this is when you try the chips and perfect red salsa. When I got my super steak burrito the presentation was amazing the way they decorated it with sauce and sour cream and guac. It was obvious the chefs are professionals. the first bite blew my socks off. Every single ingredient was fresh the quality of the steak was superb and cooked to perfection. My lady ordered the sampler platter and she was equally impressed by the taste and quality. We were given so much food for the price we payed we took home enough to feed us twice more. They even gave us a To go foil trey so we could just pop it in the oven to reheat. The service was great. Everyone was really welcoming and smiling. When we left we both agreed that this might be the best Mexican food either of us have ever had. Definitely our favorite place in Sebastopol. I can't wait to go back.
A little pricey for lunch. However the food was good and had a large amount.
We had shrimp tacos, Al pastor tacos, enchiladas suizas, and everything was delicious! The kids' meals have really good portions as well.
As a traveler from Santa Barbara, I have enjoyed some very good Mexican food. So, I was looking for some very authentic Mexican food, similar to my Latino roots. Well, I found it here at El Coronel😊❤️ I felt like I was taken back in time to my grandparents house and the scent of Mexican food. The service was excellent, again the food was delicious and the restaurant itself is so bright and decorated with true Latino influence. I highly recommend stopping here if you're in Sebastopol ❤️👍
The menu and food are excellent with full sized servings. The dining room and pet friendly patio are beautiful and both very comfortable. The servers are very friendly, professional, and it feels like they love what they do. This is a "family" that welcomes you like family into their home.
I couldn't have been more happy with choosing this location and the great news is I work right next to it!!! It's the first time I actually came and had myself a meal with my wife here. We got two big meals. I took a picture of mine that came with two plates for only $21?!!! Yes, $21 for two Sopes two enchiladas rice and beans and I didn't even finish half of it. I got lunch and dinner for later for $21 and a great experience. After the meal they even gave some dessert on the house. I'm very happy here. This is a great place. I'm definitely coming back. I recommend this for everyone.. AND THEY ARE DOG FRIENDLY!!! 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Always come here when visiting our buddy! Sam and his staff do an amazing job. Service is excellent and the food is top notch! Beers are cold and the range of tequilas on offer are great. Get same to make you a tequila slammer!
Delicious large portions. Very friendly and attentive service. Definitely will visit again.
This place is always one of my go to places in Sebastopol. They have great food and the service is always fast and the staff is super friendly. The canterito is my favorite drink in all of sonoma county but thier standard margaritas are great as well.
The food and drinks were absolutely amazing and so delicious!!! I ordered the fajita quesadilla!!! I highly recommend! Will be coming back here again in the near future.
Great food and service!I love going in here. The food is always great. You get chips, salsa and beans when you sit down. The food seems really fresh. The tableside guacamole we had today was so good! I've never seen more perfect avocados. The tortilla soup had tons of veggies and tasty chicken. My kids were happy with their steak quesadilla and burrito. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.
Very happy servers and authentic atmosphere. I pigged out on a giant burrito, stuffed my face with chips & salsa then ate a giant fried ice-cream. The ice-cream was heavenly. I was a little surprised at the prices on the food - but I guess it's comparable to most restaurants around town these days. Also, BEAUTIFUL Mexican hand crafted color tables and chairs....LOVE.
We love the patio seating! Not going indoors, I can't describe the ambience. The food was great. The margaritas are delicious. The service was great. The staff were very kind and courteous. -Regina
Very nice stop along the road to the beach. Beautiful patio on nice day, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, great food with healthy portions. TIPS: If you don’t have plans or room for doggie bags, order lightly, portions are very big, and eat outside if you can.

1-when it’s cold outside it’s warm inside, I am so sick of restaurants keeping their restaurants freezing just to avoid a heating bill and make their weight stuff more comfortable when it’s really about the customers, I love it when my food doesn’t get cold as I eat, and I can actually takeoff my jacket and they go the extra mile to keep it comfortable inside and extremely clean and really well decorated with very classy decorations! 2-the kids menu is actually amazing and 3-the skinny margarita is bomb and uses all fresh juices! Overall, it’s a fantastic establishment that seriously deserves a ton of business
If you want to a place where you can feel comfortable and enjoy the ambience and amazing cocktails and mouthwatering food then I say go to El Coronel! The staff is amazing! Everybody is so friendly. Magaly is a very attentive and friendly waitress, always making sure everyone is helped and always gives the best service! George and Jared are amazing and attentive servers as well, and the boss is always so attentive and friendly. My favorite place to go to relax after work or to have a nice lunch! The cocktails are the best and the nachos are my favorite!!
Okay, I have to talk about their taco truck. They come to Calistoga all the way from Sebastopol to feed us every day! All the food is delicious, but not only do we love the food but the crew too! Alex and Evelyn are the absolute best! I always look forward to talk to these two. We seriously LOVE these guys. They're awesome.
We were staying at a hotel about a block away and walked over. Very surprised. It’s a nice upscale Mexican restaurant with delicious authentic food. We shared a tostada de Ceviche and Chili Verde, both delicious and fresh. Service was also outstanding. We will go back next time we are in town.

I was there this Friday and wow, I loved the shrimp and crab enchiladas. You have to try them! I have no words to describe the service; my waitress, Alicia, was amazing. She was very attentive and always smiling, and her margaritas were incredible. I will be back!
Despite having lived here [forever], we had never visited this restaurant before. I'm not sure why. We came as a request of the birthday girl who was celebrating her 80th birthday! The food was excellent. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere was just OK. The table wasn't really big enough to fit the six of us in the large chairs. The service was just OK. My litmus test of the empty water glass failed. Despite that, we will likely return.
A Delicious Detour in Sebastopol While on a day trip north of San Francisco, we took a detour into Sebastopol for lunch. El Coronel was right there, and it looked like a good option because we had our little puppy with us. It was a beautiful afternoon, and they had outdoor seating available. El Coronel Mexican Restaurant was founded by Armando Coronel in 2002 and has been part of Sebastopol's culinary scene since then. It has been a family-run operation for over two decades and serves tasty Mexican cuisine. El Coronel is known for its sizzling fajitas, delicious combinations, flavorful tacos, and burritos. They have a beautiful patio with a complete outdoor bar. The interior is beautifully designed and looks comfortable for individuals and both small and large groups. We started with an order of Guacamole, their House Margarita, and Hibiscus Tea. The Guacamole was freshly made, and there was plenty of it! We enjoyed the combination of fresh guacamole and chips. The drinks were good, too. We decided to share a Parrillada (which means grilled in English) for the main dish. There was plenty of food. The meats (beef, pork, and chicken) were all fresh, well-cooked, and flavorful. It came with a plate of rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and fresh tortillas. I could not leave without trying their flan and was very happy I didn't! It was one of the better flans I have had in a while. The staff was very attentive and friendly. A gentleman, who may have been the owner or manager, stopped by our table and asked how we were doing. He was very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our experience, and as we left, I made a mental note to come back and try their Molcajete! It looked very good!
The service was great but the food was only so so. We had Chili Verde and a combo plate with a Chile relleno and a sope. That base of the sope was tough and rubbery, I didn’t eat it all. The food was good enough, but not great. It want beer flavorful. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was great. Maybe we just didn’t order well. Also $9 for a bottle of Negó Modelo seems steep. The menu said it was on draft, but it was just a 12oz bottle.
Very happy with the food and service here Maricela really made us feel welcome and explained so much about the food and recommended several dishes that were delicious. My favorite was the Chile relleno and also the al pastor taco. If you like heat, ask for the diabla sauce, it is very spicy. Also, two thumbs up for the home cooked chips and three different dips. Can’t wait to go back and try more.
The service was great in this old school Mexican eatery. Portions were large and delicious, typical of most restaurants in this genre. The margs were yummy, actually tasted some tequila, wasn't all sugar and lime.

I really loved this place. We walked in as a party of 6. Seated right away. Huge menu! The cook made us a complimentary platter of nachos. Our food came out fast and we all loved what we ate. I wish I would have taken pictures! I highly recommend this place. They serve you 2 types of salsa and beans with chips while you wait. My daughter's favorite. So much to choose from I have to come back for another taste of something I haven't tried.

The staff was great. The food was average. George was our waiter/bartender, he was on the ball with our food order and the Margaritas. Our only complaint would be the nagging lady that sat one table over. She wouldn''t shut her pie hole. Blah blah blah blah. I felt sorry for the person that was with her. He just listened and agreed to whatever came out of her mouth. May she find Peace 🕊️ some day and not be such a negative nilly.
If you are Looking for an authentic Mexican food this is not the place. Hand made torts are well unique. The food has no flavor and what is depicted in the photos is not what you get. The cocktails are lacking in taste. We were not happy at all with our lunch.
This is a tough one for me. I've been a patron to this restaurant for decades. I do love the food and the owner himself is great. However the last few times I've been in there I feel very strongly that I was treated differently and was nickel dimed. One time in particular my friend and I ordered off the happy hour menu we got tacos and beers. They got my order wrong not one but twice, in the end we were charged full price for beers and the wrong orders which i had to ask them to remove the food plates that were brought back to the kitchen. Mentioned the beer pricing to them and the waiter said we needed to specify that we were wanting happy hour beers. Again we were ordering off of the happy hour menu, literally pointing to it. The next time myself and a friend went and got 2 tacos each, we asked for no salsa and the waiter asked if Pico degallo was OK, to which we said yes. We were charged extra per taco for the pico?! Wild. If there's an Upcharge for something at least mention it. Whatever is happening in there recently has really left a bad feeling for me. I'm bummed because normally I like going there, again the owner is great, there's a lady that works in there that I've enjoyed seeing for years also but the new crew has really started to make it feel unwelcoming.
Used to love this place, after five years out of town I came back to my favorite childhood Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately it gave the whole family food poisoning. It was frustrating to not be able to get more tortillas, for the fajitas as well. As I loved this restaurant, i’ll probably be back someday. Maybe.

This place is a scam. Service is inconsistent. They will advertise happy hour and lunch menu prices, but will charge you full price and won’t adjust. They will charge items on your bill that you either ordered but did not receive. They will adjust sometimes with a “huff”. And sometimes they won’t. The food is meh. Plenty of other amazing Mexican restaurants that are friendly and put out a much better product at a better price.
Unfortunately I experienced a very disappointing level of service during my visit to this restaurant on my birthday today. With repeated neglect of half of our table's meals not once, not twice, but a total of THREE times. Even after an extensive delay of an HOUR and a HALF, the order was still incorrect once we finally received it. The lack of consideration, as we were charged the full amount without acknowledgment for the amount of errors and delay. The food was okay. Definitely will not be going back, I do not recommend.
Just ordered takeout here for the family. My two kids each ordered a bean and cheese burrito so there were two total in the order. On the drive back my husband realized that there was only one bean and cheese burrito so we went back to explain and ask for the second one we ordered and paid for. The bean and cheese burrito they gave me was less than half the size of the normal one there should have been two of. It seemed odd and spiteful of them to make a small one when they were the ones that forgot and messed up the order. Added a photo of the bean and cheese burrito that was first included and the second one they gave when I went back to get the second one.
