We had a lovely birthday celebration dinner at Goldfinch. Our server, Jessica, was attentive and professional, providing excellent recommendations. My husband and I ordered the mixed greens salad, and it was ample to share. The calamari appetizer with smoked chili remoulade and shaved Parmesan was some of the best calamari we have ever tasted. We both ordered the hanger steak for our main entree, and it was extremely tender and cooked perfectly. We had the apple crisp for dessert to complete our meal. The food, atmosphere, and service were excellent; we highly recommend them. Our only request to the restaurant is to add more entrees to their menu; the menu feels limited. It would be great to see dinner specials and more entrees.
Perfect for date nights, small parties, and girls’ dinners, Goldfinch checks all the boxes—from ambiance to food options, yummy cocktails and mocktails to a well-curated wine list, and can’t forget the attentive and personable staff. I highly recommend ordering a few appetizers and mains to share to help balance all the different flavors. The hangar steak, calamari, and pull-apart focaccia are all must-haves! Looking forward to visiting Goldfinch again the next time we’re in town.
6 cocktailer foodies tried a new place last night night - Goldfinch. Great cocktails, extensive and creative menu that delivered and attentive service. In fact the menu had so many creative offerings, it was hard to choose. We ended up trying many small plates and splitting one large. There wasn’t a mediocre plate in the bunch! 6 out of 6 said they would come again. Bonus - The Third Pig, a favorite Craft Cocktail hang out is right across the street for a nightcap!
What a fabulous find, local everything from the food to staff to other diners. Possibly best calamari and ever. Our sever Maggie who is French and is discerning didn’t steer us wrong it is the best calamari ever!
Would absolutely eat here again! The food was divine, and the chefs cooking in the open kitchen were absolutely amazing. The chef was very kind, and more helpful than the server was in terms of the dishes. The pork and the swordfish are delicious, as well as the ahi tuna and ceviche. To be fairly honest host was unhelpful. When we called to make reservation, she had said there wasn’t one. We booked a table online instead, which is surprising. When we arrived she wasn’t very inviting either. Anyways, woman who served us didn’t introduce herself, and barely spoke to us during the meal, and wasn’t very friendly throughout the meal. Our waters were never refilled, nor was our plates removed promptly when we finish our dishes. It didn’t effect our experience, however I think the owners should know that their front of house staff may need to be reminded that being friendly and inviting does a lot to make the experience overall enjoyable. When you are paying $200+ for a meal, the service should be just as important as the food. The food was the only reason I will return.
Lovely collection of menu items, with plenty of vegetarian and carnivore dishes to choose from. The beets and calamari stood out, but eggplant was a top contender. Fun and lively atmosphere, decorated with subtle flair and eclectic touches. A bit noisy, but that's part of the allure. Very helpful and pleasant service. Owners frequent the floor and pull their weight, which shows in the resulting excellently trained staff.
Pleasantly surprised to find Goldfinch last night. From its innovative dishes to its attentive service to the European ambiance... Cocktails were on point and creative. Simple, but elegant additions to dishes made them stand out. The vin dressing on the chilled strawberry salad, the au jus on the hangar steak. The focaccia was dense but fluffy inside. My only request is that there is a vegetarian main next time we return Highly recommend. Make reservations in advance for one of the cush booths.
OMG, I can't contain my excitement about this amazing restaurant that's only a brief six-minute stroll from the Barlow! As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by the most incredible ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between luxury and familiarity. And let's talk about the food – oh my goodness, each bite is a burst of delicious flavors that make it impossible to resist staying longer. The ingredients are so fresh, sourced locally and including the freshest harvest, vegetables, meats, and seafood available. And the way they are prepared is simply divine, resulting in dishes that are absolutely irresistible and mouthwateringly delicious.
What a wonderful new addition to the Sebastopol dining scene! Everything was delicious and showcased the bounty of Sonoma County and local purveyors. The service was top notch. Everyone from the hostess to the runners were happy to help and had a smile of their face. Our server Ariana was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable about the menu. We can’t wait to dine at Goldfinch again!
We had a big group and tried a variety of dishes: ceviche, fries, fire roasted beets, heirloom carrots, chicken, steak, ricotta tortellini. It was all great; good flavors, great mix of ingredients, and well thought out dishes. The chicken, however, was one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. It was so juicy and full of rich flavors, I was stunned at how incredible it was for such a simple dish. Well done. 👏🏼 They have some great cocktail recipes that my friends enjoyed and they have mock-tails too. I didn’t try the mock tail because it sounded too sugary for me, I prefer more bitter. We’ll see what they have next time. Good service, cool atmosphere. This is a place I’ll definitely add to the regular go-to list.
Great restaurant and selection of dishes. Very well presented. Excellent service. Beetroot salad and crab ravioli were stand out.
My wife and I went in for lunch. It was our first time dining and we didn’t know what to expect. The food was excellent. They made great use of fresh local greens and seafood and all the plates were really beautifully composed. We had a great lunch!

Wow!! We found Goldfinch on our way back to the North SF Bay Area, and what an experience!! Atmosphere was beautiful, service was impeccable, and the food was beyond delicious!! We had the swordfish and steak frites and every bite was a delicacy! Highly recommend if you’re in the area or quite worthwhile to make a trip to Sebastopol to dine here!
Love this place! The beet salad was as delicious as it was beautiful. Enjoyed the shrimp ceviche with a little bit of heat. The lemon posset with berries was a perfect ending. Interior has been redone with comfortable banquettes and striking light fixtures. On this visit, I tried the scrumptious Afternoon Delight cocktail special. So pretty! Many other diners were ordering it too. The heirloom tomato panzanella came with a flavorful gazpacho sauce. The blackberry crumble was the ideal finale.
The lovely french madam. That served us was great seafood tower was great same with ceviche all food was exceptional highly recommend

We got the calamari and the foccacia bread, and let me tell ya, it is SO GOOD! we also got the chocolate cake and I am not the biggest chocolat cake fan, but this was the best one I have had, even better than the one from Matilda! So if you decide to go here, definitely do!!!! The space was super nice and fancy but not to fancy, the service is great and the waiters are very nice. This restaurant is a 10/10 no hesitation.
The wife & I decided on a spur of the moment lunch & drove from Sacramento over to Sebastopol to try this spot. What a find! We shared some awesome grub, enjoyed the fabulous ambiance, and enjoyed our great server, Nick! Such a perfect adventure - we're planning to come back for a Happy Hour night some Friday and then just stay the night for fun. Thank you, Nick & the Goldfinch team, for making our day!
Goldfinch features beautiful decor and a great ambiance, though it can get a bit noisy. What We Ordered: Fire-Roasted Beets (11/10) – A standout dish! The caramelized yogurt, pistachios, and quick-pickled onions created a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Grilled 10oz Angus Hanger Steak (9.0/10) Well-prepared and shareable. The potato pavé and grilled broccolini complemented the steak beautifully. The gratin was good. Don't burn it too much, ha ha I’d suggest serving the red wine shallot reduction lightly on the plate with extra on the side. Chocolate Cake (9.5/10) – The white chocolate ganache was smooth and indulgent, but the hazelnut crunch was a bit too hard for my taste. Ginger Turmeric Mocktail (9.5/10) A vibrant, flavorful drink. Reducing the amount of ice would allow the bold flavors to shine even more. Goldfinch delivers an elevated dining experience with bold flavors and thoughtful pairings. A few minor tweaks could make it even better, but overall, it's a place worth revisiting!
Goldfinch boasts stunning presentation, particularly the house-made Dungeness crab raviolo (5 stars visually). However, the flavor of the raviolo didn't impress, lacking distinction, and the slimy, warmish texture wasn't appealing. The grilled zucchini and burrata with sourdough were good, though the zucchini's sourness was unexpected. The fire-roasted beets with yogurt and pistachio were a standout, highly recommended for their delicious flavor combination.

Love the food here, it's always delicious and fresh. Calamari is the best I've had in the county. Only complaint about the food is that the menu doesn't change enough. Apps are great, but limited entree options seem to stay the same and none wow me so I usually end up getting apps. Only real rub is the french waitress who we've had a couple times now. She's very prickly and always rushes away from our table before we're done speaking/ordering. This last time she even was taking our drinks at lightening speed and got my order, my dad's, and then skipped over my mom completely before speeding off 🥴 Is she overworked or just an unpleasant person? The bartender on the other hand is superb and very kind 👌
We really loved the old K & L Bistro so in 2024 we went to see what the new owners had down with the place. It was kind of a mixed bag. The new decor lacks the warmth that I like. Service was a bit spotty but okay. The menu did not not appeal to me but my wife like the selections. She loved her fish I was underwhelmed with the pork chop and we both loved the halibut ceviche and focaccia pull apart.the Etna Rosso wine was tasty.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and excellent service. Unfortunately the food lacked flavor and was pretty ordinary. I was looking forward to the pavlova (an Aussie dessert) but it was shockingly hard and stale! It should be light and fluffy meringue, if you know it. Cocktails and fries were very good.
Decided to give Goldfinch a try while visiting the local area. I want to start off by saying our waitress was amazing. She made us a personal list of places to visit in the area. But moving past that, the food wasn’t my favorite. We started off with focaccia bread and the rosemary was overbearing. My favorite dish was the butter poached potatoes. Light but savory. For dinner I got the grilled 10 oz angus hanger steak. It comes with caramelized peppers and potato pave. The steak had a weird taste to it and the peppers covered the dish which ruined it in my opinion. The red wine sauce took away from the cut as well. I didn’t love the dish. When the server assistant came over to ask if I was all set, I said yes, and she insinuated a box and I said “no thank you” .. So she threw my fork onto the plate, rolled her eyes and stormed away. I thought that was a bit rude. For the price-point, and food selection, I wouldn’t come back. For the cocktails and kind waitress, I would visit again!

The good news first - excellent food, innovative and somewhat unusual flavor combinations. Definitely worth a bite. The less than good news - last time I was there they brought our drinks mid way through our meal! And it was not a mixed drink we were waiting on. Prices are super high. Sevice is spotty and rushed and it may be just too few servers for when they are busy. It is a very loud room. After my last visit I felt clear I would not return for more of this experience, despite the good food.
