The bread was at least 1 or 2 days old and tasted stale. The dishes came out within 2 minutes. Obviously pre-prepared and just kept warm or heated in the microwave. Typical very average tourist food. €9 for a bag of stale bread is ridiculous. Crudo didn't taste like the fish was fresh. The seafood pasta was just a thin sauce. No evidence of any seafood pieces in it at all.

This week my family and I went around most of the restaurants owned by the Ballarini family, who dominate the restaurant business in Sestri Levante. After a perfect experience at Pesce Balla and La Casa Delle Compere - 150, we decided to also try Don Luigi. And although the food was fine, we were very disappointed with the service: it was slow, kept us waiting, barely managed a greeting, and was rude when we dared to seat ourselves without waiting for them (even though there were many free tables). It was obvious we were bothering her. The guy with the earring was fine but the two other waitresses were a disaster and owner should consider to focus on them because in other restaurants of this family everythin worked 110%.

Tourist trap - expensive food / charge you €6 for stale bread and €4 for bottled water that’s tap water (free)! The food was below average and the staff need to stop moaning about how bad their jobs are in front of guests. In reply to the owners comment: It was your restaurant - I will not be removing my review of your restaurant as I stand by every comment made - please don’t try bullying your guests into removing valid reviews just to try and make yourself feel better!!

To be fair we were here in October, the end of the high season. However, service was 1 star. Everything we asked for took a while, even in a restaurant that was at 1/3 capacity. Food was just okay. Not authentic Italian. Lighting was poor and uninviting. For those well travelled, who have higher expectations, I'd suggest not dining here!

Never wrote such a bad review… We booked a table for 09.30pm. It was 10.05pm when we finally got the table. When we arrived the waitress told us to wait 10 minutes, then that the ones before us were paying (which was a lie because we saw that they only got the bill from her 15min later). It seemed as if nothing could faze her, she wasn’t friendly and did not apologize even when we told her that the organization needed improvement. The only good thing were the friendliness of the rest of the staff including the guy who personally came by to inform us of the vegan options & the ambiente which is beautiful at the beach… The food is not worth mentioning. I added an ingredient to my focaccia which was forgotten. By the time they brought it to me my friends were half through their meal. Big disappointment. In the end she did come by and gave us a bottle of wine and apologized. At least she did try then, but for me this came too late.

We tried this restaurant because of the good reviews online. The food we ordered was relatively good compared to the restaurants in the city centre. Note that if you want the real Italian experience you should not eat at the tourist trap that is whitin the whole city centre of sestri levante. The staff was very friendly up to the point we noticed that the Italian menu had different prices for the wines compared to the english menu. Note that tourist will pay more for the wines if they receive the english menu. So if you are a tourist please ask for the Italian menucard as well to see the real prices for the wines so you wont be scammed. We told the waitress that the wine should be 21.50 euros instead of the tourist price of 23.50 euros and the reason she told us that is was because of the change of the menu. We like to eat and pay for it but we dont like the tourist treatmen therefore we will give it a 1 star rating to inform you of a tourist trap. We asked for both a english and Italian menu because the english translate can be different from the actual recipe. If you are that rude to have 2 different prices on the menu you should accept this 1 star rating as a man and change the system. Buanaserra, Giovanni

Tourist trap! Firstly, the location is right on a busy street, with many cars and motorcycles passing by, which made the air feel polluted. Overall, the atmosphere was very noisy. Secondly, the cutlery was dirty. We also had to pay a service charge that was already included in the bill. The food was very average, more on the bad side. Honestly, not worth the price we paid. We ordered antipasti, and the plating was terrible; half of the plate was empty. I would not recommend this place unless you truly have no other options. It’s not worth the money, and I usually don’t like writing negative reviews, but I was very disappointed.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews — but this place earned it with flying colors. If you’re looking to waste your evening, your appetite, and your money, this is the perfect spot. The food? A generous 3/10. Microwave-grade meals disguised under a decent-looking menu. Nothing felt fresh. Whoever designed the dishes clearly knows how to write a menu, but absolutely not how to deliver on it. We ordered a glass of wine — what arrived looked more like a tasting sample: barely one-third full. I wasn’t expecting generosity, but I also didn’t expect to be insulted. The cherry on top? A sneaky service charge added to the bill without a single word of notice. That might be acceptable at a high-end restaurant with exceptional food and service — but here? To be clear, the staff were lovely — polite and trying their best. This failure lies squarely with the management or kitchen. In short: overpriced, underwhelming, and absolutely not worth your time. Go somewhere — anywhere — else.

Location was good and the service was ok. The problem was the fish. From our group, three out of five people ordered fish and we all got food poisoning. It seems like hygiene is an overall problem and I would not advise anyone to go there. If you stick to pasta and beer, the place is probably fine.
