This borekas is really better than any I ever had, and I had them in several places around the world, funny enough, the best one is found here in Sherman Oaks. Quick window ordering, with authentic crate sitting to really absorb the street food atmosphere. Give them a try, it was delicious! 👌 2nd visit was even better than the first, this time I had the mushrooms truffles and onion borekas which was so tasty too!!
One of the few spots in town where going once in not good enough. This place is a true gem (not so much hidden anymore) because of the delicious food. I highly suggest the potato and brown butter and spinach and cheese. Depending on how hungry you are , 1-2 is usually the recommended and it comes with sides. One thing I do suggest is pre-ordering as they are likely to sell out before closing. Yes it’s that good.
Spectacular borekas. Perfectly spiced, super flaky and flavourful. I am amazed at what I ate. Definitely worth making the trip to Sherman oaks early to get it before it’s sold out. Highly recommend the cheese and zaatar one. They all come with sauces that perfectly compliment the pastry.
This place called me by its name being raised in france by my half Sephardic Tunisian side. I ventured myself in the plaza and ordered a spinach and cheese borekas that comes with a side of slow cooked eggs and matbucha. He did not disappoint, it’s made to order, fresh. Crispy and delicious. I asked for zaatar on top and left with a pickle jar too. Served by a wonderful hard working team. The quality is here. Don’t sleep on it!
I called and ordered in advance as I heard by Noon they might be sold out. I was lucky and they still had borekas. They were flaky and crispy and delicious (we tried the spinach & cheese, potato, and ricotta & za'atar). The tomato sauce, spicy sauce, egg, and pickle with the pastry were a wonderful combination. Definitely lives up to the hype. So glad they have this place so we can all experience this delicious meal.
Borekas Sephardic Pastries is a hidden gem that captivates your taste buds with its exquisite selection of pastries. My recent visit to this charming establishment left me thoroughly impressed and craving for more. From the moment I had my first bite until the last, it was a truly delightful culinary experience. I had the pleasure of trying the Cultured Cheese & Zaatar and the fungi onion and truffle pastries, and I must say, they were both extraordinary. The delicate balance of flavors in each bite was nothing short of perfection. The Cultured Cheese & Zaatar boreka showcased the finest quality cheese paired harmoniously with the aromatic notes of zaatar, creating a combination that was simply divine. As for the fungi onion and truffle pastry, its earthy richness and delectable truffle essence left me in awe. The pastries were freshly baked, maintaining their flaky exterior while being filled with a heavenly filling. To accompany my pastries, I ordered an iced tea which was refreshing and provided a cool respite to complement the warm and savory delights. For dessert, I indulged in a chocolate pastry, and it was the proverbial icing on the cake. The rich, velvety chocolate oozed out from the pastry, and each bite was pure bliss. The ambiance at Borekas Sephardic Pastries was cozy and inviting, with a touch of authentic charm. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and eager to provide recommendations. Their passion for their craft was evident, and they went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Overall, Borekas Sephardic Pastries deserves every bit of praise it receives. The flavors, the quality, and the overall experience were exceptional. I am already planning my return visit, eager to explore more of their tantalizing offerings. If you're in search of delectable pastries that transport you to culinary heaven, look no further than Borekas Sephardic Pastries. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Full of flavor, delicious crisp to the dough, totally worth the stop if you’re in the area
I go here almost every morning. I love it. Love the food, love the atmosphere of everybody rushing to get their fix of a morning boreka pastry. Different staff for the most part and they’re all kind - expect for the larger, young Asian girl. She’s only served me once but had a horrible attitude when serving me.
Finally got to try these Borekas, a flaky pastry that has Middle Eastern and Spanish influences. We arrived around 9:30 am, there wasn't any line. Although it quickly became busy at 10. Better to order ahead or come early so you can sit down. We ordered the Labne and Zaatar, and the Cultured Cheese and Zaatar and ate at one of the small tables outside of the order booth. The pastry was flaky and crispy outside, and you bite into a very soft interior. I loved the Cultured cheese. It comes with olives, tomatos, eggs, and a spicy harissa paste. Perfect portion for 1 person. We paid ~30 for 2. Will definitely be back!
I cannot even believe how delicious these borekas are! Granted, I don’t know that I have ever had a boreka before, but the other reviews did not lead me astray. I would definitely make the drive to the valley often and voluntarily for these. I thought that the mushroom would be my favorite, but between the mushroom and the spinach, I actually preferred the spinach. But they were both delicious. There is no atmosphere to speak of. You just order at a little window and they bring your food out. They have about three tiny tables for sitting outside.
Very delicious pastry. A great local business that boosts up the plaza it's in. The spinach and cheese is my favorite one and everything is so fresh tasting. Thankfully the lines have died down since they opened but I very much recommend all flavors they have!
Delicious buttery pastry filled with gourmet fillings. So delicious we went twice on our trip to LA. Awesome, quick service. Perfectly cooked eggs. Delicious refreshing drinks. Actually dreaming about these right now, if you can go, go.
Absolutely delicious! Their high rating on Google is justified and so well deserved. More places like this should exist. I ordered online for pickup and timing was perfect. Cheese & Za'atar and Fungi, Onion & Truffle were amazing and I especially loved the side pickles, egg, and tomato pulp. All of it worked so well together. Pistachios & Kadaif and the Borekas Pudding were both good, but I think I was just more blown away by the savory options. Highly recommend and you can't go wrong with anything here.
Outstanding Borekas & Authentic Pastries I’ve tried borekas (also known as borek) in many places across the U.S. and even overseas, but this one truly stands out as the best I’ve ever had in my life. I ordered the potato borac, and it was freshly made to order—light, flaky, golden, and perfectly crunchy on the outside while soft and flavorful inside. The balance of texture was just right, and every bite tasted homemade with genuine care. One thing I recommend is ordering ahead, since everything is baked fresh and there can be a short wait. It’s absolutely worth it, but this way you can be sure they won’t run out. . It’s clear that it was prepared with a hand-crafted touch—unique, delicate layers that show real skill and tradition. You don’t come across that kind of authenticity often. Practical details: parking is free and very easy, which makes the visit stress-free. There are also tables outside, so you can sit down and enjoy your food in the fresh air, which I really appreciated. Between the warm hospitality, the freshness of the pastries, and the authentic flavor, this place is a true hidden gem. If you love borac or just want to try something special, this is a must-visit.
Excellent place, great borekas and if you never tried it before, great place to start. They're fresh, tasty and served with a hard boiled egg and condiments. Great for lunch or snack.
Wow!!! I just ordered their cheese burekas and listen!!!! It’s the best burekas I’ve ever ate!!!! It’s different from the others!! It is DELICIOUS!!!! The service was amazing! Very kind and nice staff! And the atmosphere was on point!! Definitely coming back for MORE ❤️❤️❤️🙌
I recently visited this borekas spot over in Tarzana, and I’ve got to say, it’s a real gem. The place is super clean and just has a great aesthetic vibe to it. The borekas themselves? Delicious and tasty as can be. Plus, the service was really fast, friendly, and kind. Honestly, if you’re in the area, I’d recommend everyone swing by and taste it for themselves. It’s definitely worth it!
Tried these delicious flaky slightly sweet pastry filled with cheese, spinach and cheese, funghi, truffle & onion. My fave was the mushroom and onion as it had more flavor. Want to try the potato next time. Fresh mint tea also good. These would he great for breakfast!!! We had them as an afternoon snack.
I tried the Cultured Cheese & Za'atar Borekas, and it was absolutely delicious! The flaky pastry, filled with creamy cultured cheese and topped with fragrant za'atar, was perfection. The combination of flavors was incredible, especially with the accompanying sides—fresh tomato pulp, spicy schug, a perfectly soft-boiled egg, and tangy pickles. Each bite was a delightful blend of savory and spicy goodness. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys authentic, flavorful Mediterranean cuisine!
Really good, light and flaky. We got spinach and cheese + potato and brown butter. Both were really great. I was also a big fan of the spicy sauce that was included. Will be coming back for sure.
One popular spot known for its delicious borekas in Los Angeles is "Borekas Sephardic Pastries" in Sherman Oaks. They offer a variety of flavors and are well-regarded by locals and visitors alike. It's worth giving them a try if you're in the area!
Hollllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Israel this place is delicious. A total suprise, i happened to be near it and decided to try it and the brown butter potatoes blew my mind. The side of perfectly cooked egg and pickles are delicious as well. What ever the hot stuff is with oil is also really delicious. I will definitely tell everyone I know to try this place. Doesn't matter what your ethnicity is you will love the food
I am always amazed by the different types of food I find in Los Angeles. I have never had borekas before, and I read in Eater LA about this new window. It is in Sherman Oaks in a strip shopping center very close to the 405. My wife and I arrived before they opened at 9:00 A.M., and there was already a line there. Each borekas is individual size, but it packs a lot of flavor. We purchased two: the potato and brown butter and the spinach and cheese. I preferred the spinach and cheese because it reminded me of spanakopita. It is less filo dough and more likes a puffed pastry or croissant consistency. I would highly recommend getting there early because they only stay open until they sellout. They accept cash and credit cards. As one woman in back of me in line said, why should I make it myself when it is so good from here? Try it and judge for yourself.
A literal hole (window) in the wall but oh man it’s insanely good, simple and authentic. You can find this hidden gem in Sherman Oaks, California. They are open from 9am until they sell out. There are a few tables for sitting outside but most people are taking it to go.
WORTH ALL OF THE HYPE! Went with the spinach and cheese. So flaky, crunchy, and buttery. Heaven in your mouth. Got there around 10:30am and the wait was about 30’. Things moved a lot faster than anticipated given the line was fairly long. The serving size is not too big so it’s a good idea to get one per person.
this is some of the best pastry i have ever had in my life. I seriously would recommend you go here NOW. GET UP AND DRIVE HERE. DROP EVERYTHING! The fillings are so creamy and delicious and the sweetness of the pastry acompanied by all its little salty accoutrements is just wonderful. I also would like to say that these are the best soft boiled eggs i’ve ever eaten in my life. Overall, this place serves the perfect breakfast, i promise you it will not disappoint.

My kids and husband love this spot! How could you not love the delicious pastries! Parking is a bit tough sometimes in the parking lot but sooooo worth it
Ordered picked up for a brunch. The portions were a bit smaller than what I anticipated. This eggs on the side it were perfect. We had the potato, mushroom, and zaatar with cheese and all three were delicious. I recommend your order ahead if you are picking up. Perfect for a Sunday brunch!
What a box full of flavor!! My boss stopped by to grab borekas for the office, and I went with the cheese borekas. The box came with a hard-boiled egg, tomato sauce, and a spicy paste. I mixed the tomato sauce with the spicy paste, and it created such a flavorful bite. The eggs with the pickles added an extra kick, but honestly, the borekas on their own were already amazing 🤩 I didn’t get a chance to check out the spot myself since this was a to-go order, but I’m definitely planning to stop by and dine in to see the place in person. Once I do, I’ll be sure to update this review. For now, the food is an easy 10/10.

I’ve been here many times and this is the first time I experienced terrible service. The inability of the new girls working here to say thank you, is a little bit bonkers. I witnessed 4 patrons that thanked the girls profusely (some even wished them a good day and received a grunt for their well wishes) for their food and taking orders and not a single “thank you” was spoken by the employees. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️I ordered from their specials menu, and after the 3rd person who ordered after me got their food I went to the window and asked about my order. The young woman explained that the specials take longer, to wit I asked how much longer it might be and if she could in the future let someone know when that is the case. She replied, sarcastically that she would let *me* know in the future that it will take longer and I explained again, that it would be nice for someone to know if their order was going to take longer. There was no apology, no acknowledgement, and then later she handed me my food silently. I will not be back to this location again. One of the women had a huge stain on her sweatshirt, and both of them were grumpy. They’ve only been open for 2 hours! Call me crazy, but when I’m in LA, I don’t want to deal with NYC attitudes. it just feels like this place went from a slice of heaven and become like the majority of establishments in Los Angeles, where they do some things great and other things terribly. So sad… I really loved this place. I love Psy, too. I hope the owner or mgr reads these comments and addresses the issue.
The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great, but over the last year the portion sizes continue to DRAMATICALLY decrease size while prices go up. 5 borkeas will now run you over $70 and it barley feeds 3 adults. Hopefully the prices drop or the portion sizes go back up eventually because I do love this place, but it simply isn't worth spending $70 for 3 people to still be hungry
The new one in Tarzana Yes it’s good but an absolute rip off 10 bux for a tiny tiny chocolate or 15 bux with tax for a stupid tiny potato pastry. And you have to wait 15 minutes for it. I will never go back who can afford to go there on a regular basis and still be starving. You would have to eat about 3 to satisfy terrible They need to increase the size of drop the price to about 4 bux. That’s all it’s worth
