Carrillo's Mexican Deli

I have been going to Carrillos for years Mainly the one in Canoga Park as I used to live about a block from there. I have been coming to the one here in Simi now for a couple of years, and the food is awesome, and the staff is very nice. No better place for real authentic mexican food. Make sure to check it out.

Best flour tortillas anywhere. I take some home with me to Texas every time I visit from California. Great menudo. Great chorizo. The BEST tamales. I grew up eating Carrillos my whole life. I just wish that they could ship their food.

Cannot comment on the atmosphere as we always do take out. We get the burritos nearly weekly and they are large and packed heartily. Very tasty. Always consistently and perfectly done with quality ingredients. Everything is homemade by them—tortillas, salsas, chips, beans, banuelos, rice, tamales. The burritos are served with a small side of chips if you ask and their salsas. We order through the Clover app where the 10th burrito is free. Family owned and operated. They’re so kind. A true community business.

I don't know what they do to their flour tortillas but it is magical. They are soft I could use them for my bedding, if I wouldn't eat them all on the first night. Update Jan 2024: still haven't found a better burrito, and believe me, I've been searching. Also what is going on with the flan. It's too good. Update Dec 2025: moved to SF, been searching for a better burrito, no one has come close, I am sad

This place is AWESOME. Delicious food, extensive menu. Family Run Restaurant, they use fresh ingredients. I normally Get Huevos Mexicanos for breakfast . if you haven't tried it, Highly recommend it.

Friendly place. Great food! Try the Machaca, it's the best in town. Huge burritos, excellent homemade salsa. Order your holiday tamales long in advance! They are incredible and they must have to make thousands of them!

Great Taco's and new a really great staff to help with all my questions that I had. I had ordered the Taco's expecting them to be small. Oh boy was a wrong they were huge and a definite fill up Im very happy I came here for lunch. Parking was easy and lots of room for my 26 foot u-haul in the back. Good job guys and your doing great. Carrillo's has been one of my favorite restaurants for as long as I can remember. Whether it's a weekend bowl of menudo, a breakfast burrito, tacos, hand-made tortillas, or any of your other Mexican favorites, the food is always delicious. The folks who work there are always welcoming and courteous. It's a great spot for delicious food at a good price.

Friendly welcoming staff as soon as you step in. Professional great customer service from all the staff The food taste fresh like home made. My girls loved the food. Mind you my eldest girl does not like Mexican food but she loved the taquitos she order and she also had some of my pozole and love it. They also said that the orchata was the best they had so far. The tamales were delicious. Overall everything was great. Definitely will be going back. Thank you Carrillo for your delicious food and your great customer service.

Great food, great vibe, and solid consistency. I’d easily give this place five stars and will definitely be back, especially for those crunchy tacos. The Chicken tacos are really good too and huge. Great place to eat. My co workers eat ate their for lunch and everyone was satisfied. I'm from East Los Angeles and finding a good Mexican food restaurant is hard in this part of town. But when we found this place it taste like my grandmothers cooking. One the be sure to order a glass of milk if you request the Habanero hot sauce. Everyone starting sweating after we tried that. 🔥

I have always ordered from here on GrubHub and loved it. I finally got to go in and order (03August2023) and interact with the actual business and I was not disappointed. I ordered breakfast for my family of 7 and the timing, ordering and service was by far amazing. I was not disappointed. And of course the food followed being delicious and portion size was way more than I could eat. They were friendly and inviting. As I left they made sure I had everything and was good to go. I go to Carrillos every Saturday and order takeout. This place makes the Best burritos in Simi Valley. Ingredients are always fresh and the quality of their meats are unmatched. You can actually taste the quality in each bite. Their counter service is always extremely polite and the wait time is always short. If you like burritos I suggest the Chicken Burrito Supreme.

They offer catering as well with fair prices. My only gripe is that sometimes they're ours seem a bit off, would hope that they fix that on their website or on the Google page. Love this place!

Went here on a whim. I'm not from this area. Got a combo plate, chicken tamale, cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The rice and beans were Soooo good. Of course the cheese enchilada was good. I originally wanted a beef tamale but it was ground beef instead of shredded, so I opted for the chicken. Chicken was good, not dried out but there was a sauce I wasn't expecting that was in it, maybe it was adobe? O don't think it was mole. Still good, just wasnt expecting it. I do wish I would've found this place earlier, while I was taking 2 months of Saturday classes, as I would've eaten here more often!

Was looking for caldo de res and found it here. Tortillas were also very well made. Highly suggested!

We ordered crispy tacos, a supreme burrito, a bacon and egg burrito and, a machaca burrito. First, the tacos were OK, crunchy chewy overall punctuated by greasy crunchy bits and potatoes puree with no seasoning. Second the Supreme lacked seasoning but was packed with chicken and the sauce reminded me if a hollandaise. Unfortunately they put a huge blob of cold sour cream in the middle third of the burrito and no where else. Third the egg and bacon burrito went to my kids and they ate it without complaint. Finally, the Machaca burrito had no flavor according to my wife. 3 stars is generous for bland clumsily prepared Mexican food.

Just about right! I had Crispy tacos 🌮 they are chewy I can't eat the shell taco 😩 chewy and thick shell. But I like the Flan 👍 and Ceviche.

I went here to get the Huevos Mexicanos because the prices shown in the photo of the menu in these reviews seemed reasonable. Not only had that item gone from $7.50 to $12.50, but it wasn't worth $7.50. The dish was bland. No flavor or heat in the chiles. If the prices weren't so high now (Dec 2021) I might consider trying something else on the menu, but I won't be back because I can find better values elsewhere. I'm posting photos of the menus to help others know the new prices.

The juevos rancheros were terrible, the beans were so watered down to a soup, no care was given to the juevos rancheros traditional Mexican morning meal. How do you mess up a simple meal like this, the recipe is everywhere on line! The dish was cold. So sad because I’ve eaten numerous times there before with great satisfaction. But they should take this off the menu if they can’t get this meal right.

Worst food I ever had food taste old and salty Taco asado meat was all hard not even edible I think the only thing that was good was the rice if that I’m sorry .The Horchata is not authentic

When I paid for my food I said something about the price being a little high. $12 for a plate of food with two eggs a scoop of refried beans and a scoop of potatoes plane. I live all the way across the other side of the valley and I like their breakfast burritos and I tried something new along with my son got the same thing as I did took it home and me and my son both agreed that it had no flavor. So I drove back across town and was real nice about bringing the food back to him and just told him that it have no flavored and he remembered that I said something about the price so automatically he points the finger and goes you just didn't like the price the food is fine. No I would have ate the food if it tasted fine and not have to drive clear across town to get my refund and then go somewhere else for breakfast. I'm too lazy for that. The food was Bland. And that guy that runs carrillo's has a lot of hate in his heart to just assume everything.

Chewy and none seasoned Carne Asada tacos.. each bite I'm pulling out meat so hard and chewy it's inedible... They're expensive too! I do not recommend at all! The good reviews must be by patrons that had too much to drink or avoided the carne asada... Wish we did... Ordered 4 tacos, ate 1 and that was a chore... Hate to waste food but the meat was barely suitable for a dog... Maybe it's a bad cut of meat or meat sitting around for a few days... It's disappointing to pay this much for bad food. Tacos Locos or Luna Lena is way better than this place.. Avoid this place and save your self some money and disappointment.

First time at Carrillo in Simi Wasn't impressed I ordered three Carnitas Tacos The tortillas where large but very small portion of meat roughly the size portion for a streat taco. I can almost forgive that but carnitas was dry and tasted reheated no flavor.

Order a pozolo and menudo to go. 11dls for each and disappointed. Not a lot of meat, not a lot of corn. Small portion overall for 11 dls. Man I know inflation is bad but man. This is taking advantage of people.

Apparently it had been reheated because my order was ready immediately, and when I got home to eat it the meat was hard, there was a large piece of fat in one piece and tasted like it had been sitting for quite a while. I would’ve brought it back however they closed at 5 PM. Don’t think I’ll return, there are plenty of Mexican places with good burritos made to order in Simi. Burrito was $16.13 with my generous 20% tip which I now regret. I will say the cashier was very pleasant. I wish she would’ve told me it was just going to be reheated meat that had sat since they were close to closing or maybe this is normal? It wasn’t very flavorful from the two bites I took before I threw it away. I grew up with authentic Mexican food from and married into a Hispanic family and I would not consider this authentic.
