A great, long-time, local neighborhood steakhouse. Comforting food and drinks with cozy booths. Their famous prime rib is juicy and tender. The au jus sauce was so flavorful. I forgot to take a picture of our 8 ounce Prime Rib with sides mac n cheese and steak fries- because we ate it up so quickly lol. Sorry guys, my bad! But we also had Shrimp Cocktail and Crab Stuffed Mushrooms. They were both very delicious! We sat at the bar. Go see Carrie at the bar. She’ll take good care of you. Thank you all!
SuttersMills is a hidden gem in Simi Valley. I met with my ckise friends for dinner. I ordered the salmon with stuffed baked potatoes and green beans. The food was very tasty. Green beans we delicious. My friends ordered from tbe 6 Oz Riibeye with baked potatoe. They enjoyed it! And last but least the other ordered a prime rib sandwich with French fries. Lots of meat piled on tbe roll. They had enough for another meal.
We always drive by this location and decided to give Sutter Mill a try. The interior resembles a time capsule from possibly the prohibition era. We were seated in the back area and the room seemed so private. It was nice to enjoy a really great dinner with my husband in such an intimate setting. The food was good and the service was excellent.
Didn't take enough photos because I actually got distracted by how good the food was for how good a price that came as. I've been to my fair share of high-end and decent steakhouses from Larson's to places in Nevada. I must say this beats 4 out 5 of them but 5/5 just because of the price. Steak was perfectly cooked the fries were lightly golden but super crispy and fluffy on the inside. can't say the same for fries at another place in Nevada that charge $90 for a steak their fries were brown and floppy. Overall lovely experience very fast service It was a slow night it seemed and good food. Wish I had tried this place like I wanted to far before this point because now I'm leaving California in 2 weeks Guess I got to make up for it haha! They do have a full bar it seems also didn't check it out was driving. Best of luck to everyone there going to recommend it to all my California friends that stay behind. Got the ribeye (medium rare) fries salad and garlic toast. And like three Shirley temples. Barely just under $50 before tip.

Hidden Gem of Simi Valley . Why is this restaurant not packed On a Saturday night. We have lived in Simi Valley for over a year and had never been. Unassuming exterior with an old style steak house inside. Not pretensiouss like the other two options in Simi, great food for the value. A must to go and eat we will be back

One of our favorite restaurants in Simi Valley! Great quality food and staff! Prices are very reasonable!
First time here but not my last because everything was perfect. For my birthday, I ordered the prime rib with baked potato and Mac & cheese. I also had the crab stuffed mushrooms. It was a to-go order which I placed with the bartender who was very kind and helpful. The prime rib was in the top three that I have ever had. All of the food was perfectly prepared and packaged appropriately. The service was great. The prices are very reasonable. The quality is fabulous. Definitely highly recommend.
Live in Westlake Village, drive for the old fashioned steakhouse feel. Good beef, great sides, yummy salad, cheesebread, cocktails and service. Pricing extremely reasonable. Family loves it-every-single-time!

I love this place low-key family orientated great food at a great price. Always makes me feel like I’m at home or with a family.
Great food. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Excellent service. Overall just a great restaurant and experience.
We love Sutter's Mill and go often. Prime rib is usually what we get. Medium rare is absolute perfection there are you sauce is delicious but not overly salty. I like to get the stuffed potato as a side.
I take my family here when I want to celebrate special occasions. It takes me back to a more simple time - when families sat down for a meal together. And the FOOD!!! 😱 DELICIOUS. I have had the 8oz and 12oz prime rib, as well as the rib eye steak. All were phenomenal! (I love the prime rib!) The twice baked potato is fabulous! Service is great. And I just love the atmosphere. So warm and homie. If you are looking for trendy, this is not it. But if you want good food for a good value THIS IS THE BEST!

Had dinner with my husband with a gift certificate given to him. Food was so good. Waiter was efficient and kind. Had a tiny wait, but nothing to worry about. Food was worth it!

Sutter's Mill has been around for quite a while, first time I've eaten here. Great service and food. Sirloin is usually not the best cut, but there's was the best Sirloin I have ever eaten. Would definitely order it again!

It is commendable that Sutter's Mill has stayed open and family-owned for generations. Keeping a restaurant consistent that long is no small feat. With that in mind, they have certainly stayed consistent, rather than modernizing. This has its pros and cons. The atmosphere is very homey. Old west, wooden, tall birthday, very cozy. And we went during December; they had thoroughly decorated which was a lovely touch. The food is alright. Sutter's Mill presents themselves as an upscale steakhouse and I just don't feel that's is exactly correct. It's more like a family restaurant with mood lighting. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my meal. But not necessarily proportional to the quality level they're telegraphing. My only specific complaint is the salad. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-7, and is just lettuce and roughly chopped tomatoes and cucumbers. And they ask if tomatoes and cucumbers are okay... If you decline, do you literally just get lettuce? It's silly. However, the service is very friendly and sincere. On top of refills, quick wit, good timing, no complaints at all. Definitely check out Sutter's Mill; go in expecting cozy rather than elevated and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
To serve in the same spot, with the same spirit, since 1958 — for 67 years — is not just admirable, it’s a quiet triumph. It tells its own story: of consistency, care, and character. The choice of the name Sutter’s Mill is no coincidence; it echoes with the very roots of California’s bold beginnings — a subtle nod to legacy. Over the years, we’ve brought many guests to your doors, and each time, we’ve found the same charm: a graceful blend of old-school warmth, elegant décor, and service that still remembers the value of attentiveness. Sutter’s Mill isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a keeper of tradition in a world that rushes to forget. Please, carry this torch forward, untouched by fleeting trends, and keep shining for at least another 67 years. Thank you. 🤌🏻🫶🏻
My husband and I, actually really enjoyed our dinner and experience here but I will explain why I wasn't able to give this establishment 5 stars. The prices were a little too steep for their food quality. Don't misunderstand me. The food was delicious but by no means anywhere near a Fleming's Steakhouse quality. You could pay a little bit more and go to Fleming's. On the other hand, you may just want to stay close to home or might not be able to get to a Fleming's or a steakhouse as good as a Fleming's. In that case, I would recommend to give this place a try. Another little issue we had, was that we ordered our prime rib to be cooked medium rare and they brought it to us, medium. We didn't bother sending it back because it was still flavored very well, just not as juicy as we like. The creamy horseradish was more like, barely flavored sour cream, but my husband liked it that way. We also ordered the stuffed mushrooms, for an appetizer, and those were just "ok". They do have a delicious deep fried cheese cake, and that came with coffee. The decor is very cozy and made for a great ambience! Our bill, before tip, was $112.00. This included; 2- ice teas, 1- 12oz. prime rib dinner, 1- 16oz. prime rib dinner, 1- appetizer and 1- dessert. If you decide to give this place a try, I hope you have a great experience!
Good ole Family Restaurant. If you're looking for trendy and hip - go elsewhere. If you're looking for good food at fair prices, this is the place for you. The Prime Rib was good! I had better, but not at this price-point. The loaded potato appeared pre-made and "heat-lamped" but was still pretty good. If you're looking for a good dinner and not a top-noch-fine-dining then you should stop at Sutter's Mill

Had high hopes for this place since I love prime rib and old school steakhouses, but this restaurant unfortunately failed to deliver. Although service was nice, the prime rib was tough and hard to chew, and there simply was no joy in eating it. The sides were also mediocre, and the garlic bread was no better than the frozen kind from a supermarket. Ambiance is not as homey as it could be either.
I was craving a prime rib so went here. They were not that crowded for a Friday night. I ordered the prime rib dinner. It comes with your choice of soup or salad. I choose the salad. It was a normal garden salad. Nothing special or fancy about it. I was told I could get mushrooms on my prime rib. They were delicious and plentiful. The prime rib and horseradish sauces were delicious (creamed/regular). The prime rib did have a lot of fat in the middle of it. I choose stuffed baked potato. I would not recommend. It was not that flavorful and very dry. Maybe ask for sour cream if you order it. I choose to have just a few bites of it. The service was great. My waitress was very attentive and helpful.

Prime rib is extremely tough. The fat should be soft and edible this was as tough as a hide on the cow. I ordered a salad and since they didn't have balsamic vinegar, I chose the olive oil and vinegar choice, the oil was seed oil not pure olive oil. It was very thin, no color and most importantly there was absolutely no sting in the back of my throat like real pure olive oil does. Which is a complete shame here in California! The green beans were over cooked, soggy and tasteless. Not that I wanted any, but I overheard a couple complain about no bread being offered. I would have expected some bread or buns for a $50.00 meal and that was with just water. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse they gave me a broken pen to sign the check! SMH

They have cut their menu down to one page. It is truly the only place in Simi Valley to have a steak cooked to order without sending it back. They have been hit by inflation, which has affected their selection and prices. However, if you want a quiet dinner with friends, family, and or business associates' it is a dark, red boothed steak house.
