Kind of a funky little spot, but very popular with the locals as well as tourists. Great food, good prices AND a happy hour that can't be beat. We eat there at least twice a week while we're in town.
We love Station Sushi! Hannah made our night and all the staff was wonderful.
The sushi here was excellent: fresh, unrushed, and well made. Really, the fish was perfect, so much that I was surprised and had to order more . Highly recommend!
The food is good here, and they have a great Happy Hour during the week. I recommend the sushi and experience. They also have the most delicious macaroon ice cream sandwiches. If you live in the hood, be a regular, and if you're visiting, it's a for sure spot to try out.
We had a wonderful meal today with the lovely server, Sara. The sushi was amazing and huge! Just the perfect amount of check-ins & a dish of ice cream for my grandson ❤️ I can't wait to get back there!
Some of the best and most innovative sushi in town. Their seafood is incredibly fresh and delicious. Had a sashimi platter tonight and it was outstanding. I also like that they have a good selection of salads and use fresh organic greens. Even their carry out is great.
Solid sushi at good prices. Its a Solana Beach institution.
I ordered sashimi at the sushi bar for lunch also had 2 piece Ikura (salmon roe) and a soft shell crab appetizer. Fish was very fresh it was obvious since they were still breaking it down in front of me. 2 guys on the sushi bar 3 in the back and one waitress. I was probably 2nd customer and only person at the bar. I got a weird look from waitress when I asked for the bar and she had to ask one of the guys if it was ok. I soon realized that it was not a real sushi bar after I looked at the menu and realized that they did not have sashimi on the menu. When I go to a new place I usually order sashimi before I look at a menu because I know what I want. The place filled up quick and the one waitress was running hard but the guys at the bar took care of me. Fresh fish good beer and sake I was very happy. Music was very loud and irritating some kind of pop but the guys had no problem turning it down (they did not like it either). I found it strange that they were pre-cutting the fish into slices but I guess if you are doing production that makes sense, I just have never seen it. I read a lot of the reviews and part of the problem is people going to a sushi bar for something other than sushi. On the other hand if a restaurant is going to offer it it should be good. Spent $120 after tip but it was at the coast on pch so location and all. Not to much more than my normal spot maybe $20 or so. I was happy with my dining experience.
Absolutely great experience after a ten year hiatus - we felt very welcomed by our Chef- I and my two friends both left satisfied. Whether it's nigiri or rolls, they've got you covered here. Park in the rear if it's too hectic up front on the 101. And a great place to "walk off" your meal as it's a single block from Fletcher Cove.
Hands down one of the best sushi places I've ever had. Their sushi is so fresh and it almost melts in your mouth. The bento box is also a good option if you do not like sushi. It has a lot of food for a food price. The staff is so friendly and attentive.
I’ve been enjoying the food here for the better part of 12 years, but this is the first time I’ve actually reviewed the food. Located conveniently close to Solana Beach Station, this is truly an amazing sushi spot—I’ve stopped by a couple of times during happy hour, and the sushi has always been fresh and delicious. A great find if you’re in the area!
We’ve been coming to Station sushi for a long time probably 15+ years and it never disappoints. The protein roll is my personal favorite. SECRET TIP! you can ask them to use real crab meat instead of imitation crab meat for an extra charge. Well worth it. The Hawaii Five-0 in Hawaii 60 rolls are also fantastic as are pretty much all their specialty rules. We also love their salads. The ginger salad dressing is to die for. They don’t take reservations and depending on when you go it can be a bit of a wait. It’s also a very humble place from an ambience standpoint. Rustic and very simple tables and place settings. You do not go there for that part of the experience. It’s the sushi first and last that brings us back to Station sushi.
My girlfriend introduced me to this place. She has been coming here for probably 15+ years. There’s a reason it’s been a local favorite for so long. The service was quick and the food was really good. They also had a lot of excellent vegan options. I tried two rolls and it was plenty of food. The happy hour is also really great on week days.
Visiting from Michigan. Upon arriving during a busier dinner hour, we were promptly seated and server approached immediately. I saw some reviews on here about the service being poor but we experienced the opposite, our service was fantastic and server was beyond friendly. Food was great as well. Will be back and do recommend!! Photo of the ceviche roll, the first of many we ordered!
Super busy for a Sunday night but we got seated quickly and the food came out quickly as well! They have vegetarian/vegan options for rolls but you have to search the menu to find them! I got the tofu yakisoba bowl and a mango roll that was vegan! Food was delicious!
Friendly service with “friendly” servings! Good way to “roll”; loved the Poki and hot sake!Great spot on the PCH 101!
We ordered delivery, and full disclaimer, we had a couple of potent margaritas before it arrived, but we were more than satisfied with what we received. We ordered the Tiger Roll, the Baby Lobster Dynamite Roll, the Fantasy Roll and the Slippery When Wet Roll (we're on our honeymoon, okay!). They were all wonderful, and considering they had to be driven to us I can only think they would be even better at the location. Highly recommend!
Love this place. I tried this out because it's near Solana station. I was amazed that there's option for "no rice rolls" if you don't want to consume rice. I ordered a protein rolls and Sally roll. Both of them are delicious. I'll visit again and recommend my friends for sushi place.
I’ve ordered delivery from them a few times and they never disappoint. Always fresh! I will continue to order again & again.
The sunshine roll was delicious! The salmon was so smooth. Presentation could have been better but I did get it to go.

Wonderful place to eat! I stopped here in the middle of a long travel day and was greeted with very kind, amazing service! The food was great. 10/10 would come back for the hand rolls!
Got off the train from LA and went straight in here. Excellent sushi selection (huge menu!) and great beer too. Quality/portions were excellent and service was quick too. Thoroughly recommend if you're passing by.
This 5 star review is specifically for sushi chef MARCO. We sat at the bar and Marco was excellent!! He made some food suggestions which we enjoyed and he is a 5-star chef/manager. If you haven't given him a raise ....humbly, you really should. We normally eat at 2 other sushi restaurants in San Diego where we are regulars.... i would go back to Sushi Station bc MARCO made our otherwise normal dining experience a true joy! Thank you chef Marco!
Really good sushi. Huge selection. Went here for dinner and ordered takeout for a huge group. Took some time but they were awesome and got it all correct and even threw in some free food for us. Everything was delicious.

Station sushi is a great place on the 101 highway. Totally worth if your far and near. Make time to enjoy the great food, the great scenery and the beautiful people here. I love that they have sculpin on draft most sushi spots only offer their traditional Asian beers. I mainly come for my favorite none rice rolls. Below are pictures of the protein speciality roll and the drop it low with no rice! Enjoy people and always love others.
Food was decent but sushi was not rolled well and fell apart as soon as you pick it up. Waitress was friendly. Would go again.
Very yummy selection of sushi at a reasonable price. First time there was an amazing experience five stars. Second visit last week was still four stars but not quite as good as first. I had the same rolls two days apart completely different. Asked for a tea refill twice on the third time I was told they turned off the hot water for the tea so I couldn't have any😱. Hopefully my third time back will be a better experience👍
Not bad of a spot! Made a last minute decision to eat out after watching a show and this place was open. There was a line, so I thought it must be good and gave it a try. Food - Pretty good! Their options are pretty basic and they have the standards. It's like going to almost any other good Western-sushi spot (with all the toppings and whatnot). Their rolls are huge too! Just 1 or 2 hit the spot and got me really full. Service - Very nice and attentive. The guy was willing to help with any questions and helped seat us at the patio. No complaints! Ambiance - quaint spot with outdoor seating, which was helpful. Pretty sure they're dog-friendly because they just have a covered patio. They seemed pretty busy for late Friday night, which was a good sign. And they're right next to Pizza Port. Crowd was good, a lot of couples on dates, but very chill ambiance. Would go again if I was craving sushi and happened to be in the area again. I know there's a lot of sushi options so it doesn't stand out TOO much.
My friend and I stopped by here after wine at Carruth. We we're creating some sushi and run luck to find the spot! There's plenty of seating in the service was superintendent. We ordered a few rules to share and garlic edamame?. My favorite role is definitely Ford Roll, which our service also recommended. They do have seating at their sushi bar but plenty of seating on there heated covered patio. If you're looking for some casual Sushi this is a great place to stop by.

Station sushi is a local neighborhood sushi bar. It's small and quaint. It has a small beach city vibe. It's a nice place to stop by for sushi after the beach. The quality of the fish is average even though the prices are a bit above average. If you're looking for anything above the above description, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for something quick and simple, you'll be ok.
Took forever to get our food. Gyoza was not pan seared and still cold in the middle. My roll had crab cartilage in it, edible but not enjoyable.
Usually their food is decent but tonight they were at an all time low. Not only did they have extremely slow response & service (had to wait half an hour just to pick up my takeout order which was sitting right in front of me. Asked for basic acknowledgement but staff just kept walking by ignored me completely). Ordered a chicken teriyaki plate but got absolutely zero teriyaki sauce not a drop, basically paid $14 for plain tasteless grilled chicken rice & soggy veggies; so regret giving them a 15% tip.
Pretty disappointed with my dinner tonight. We're in town for vacation and the fam wanted sushi. I recommended Himitsu in La Jolla but they wanted to walk from the house and Station Sushi was the closer option. We got there early in order to get a good spot. There was only one guy waiting ahead of us. By the time they opened there were several parties waiting. We had already written out our orders and put them in as soon as we were seated, but I saw other tables receive their food before us. By the time the last person in our group received their food, some of us had already finished eating. As for the sushi, it was all subpar. We paid $30 for two orders of uni that tasted like they were a little past it's expiration date. We legit worried about getting food poisoning. Nothing was that great but the better items were the mackerel and the Slippery When Wet roll. I've never paid so much for such disappointing sushi. I don't plan to ever come back.
The gyoza and fried pork cutlet were good! I don’t think they actually seared my Luvn tuna roll, it was ok, just extra salty w the garlic ponzu. The chef choice nigiri was hit or miss, the salmon and albacore were great, the other 2 pieces of nigiri were below average. Sushi was pretty average if you are into sushi. The pork ramen was AWFUL, hard boiled eggs, grisly meat, and bland broth w chunks of cabbage and squash. The noodles were fine, the only thing about that ramen that was ok.
I have been coming for many years especially during COVID but this is the first time my Protein roll was not fresh. In fact the tuna had black spots and the salmon, yellowtail was mushy and fishy smell. We couldn’t finish the rolls. One last thing the fish was so thinly cut. Very disappointed now.

I came here with my 3 friends we all ordered appetizers and they ordered sushi, I ordered a kids teriyaki bowl, the server said nothing about it. Everything was fine. Our food comes out. The bowl is placed in front of me. I start eating about two minutes later. I’m assuming the manager comes up, a woman basically yells at me for ordering the kids Chicken teriyaki, which is on the same main menu and I didn’t see anything that says you have to be a certain age. She was so angry at me, and was angerly telling me that I could not do that next time, I tell her the server didn’t tell me anything and I was sorry, and she told me the server was new. I have tears forming in my eyes as she’s walking away, my friends and I are all shocked. The server even said sorry since she was so angry at me. That is not the way to handle customers, maybe tell your server not to let people order off the kids menu, not yell at your customers once the item is already in front of them and they are eating. It was so out of nowhere and the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I will never be coming back.
Listen. Food was good but service was really just bad. The waitress forgot some of our order but acted like the kitchen was behind. Then end of our order came out 30 min after the first batch. In the meantime a bunch of other peoples food came out. She pointed out her manager who asked us if the missing food was on the “second order” when we only put one order in. We asked “who our server claimed was her manager” for a discount for the service and denied being a manager, and that there was any manager or owner on site. I get mistakes are made but the lack of recovery is pretty unsatisfactory.
Don’t waste money here. The servers are terrible and rude. They also served our entire roll order on one plate (for 6 people) and then couldn’t even name what orders were on what plate? And when we asked them to separate the orders they were so confused. Further, after the terrible service and sub par sushi the waitress was talking so poorly of us and how we were complaining about their lack of knowledge of what we were serving. What a terrible place and restaurant experience. Sad because we love to support our local solana restaurants, but we’ve been here too many times with terrible experiences each time. Go to local roots in solana, SOOOO MUCH BETTER
Really poor and dissapointing experience! Ramen was okay, but two pieces of meat and frozen vegetables mix is hard to argue more than a 3. The service was downright awful. It was slow when we got there and was extremely challenging to get a server's attention for the bare minimum of a drink refill. No desire to check up on us but had no problem bringing the bill.
Ok, went here after picking up my partner from the Amtrak. Upon walking in the server had a face like we were scum, don't know why...she put on a smile for others just not us, maybe because we were not wearing yoga pants...idk. I almost walked out but we were hungry. Sat outside. You can see the inside where the bar is through the windows. There I witnessed one of the guys behind the sushi bar repeatedly eat what looked like vegetables out of the container...lick his fingers and continue to stick his fingers in for more.... I ordered the veggie yakosiba so naturally I was grossed out. The gyoza was soft, borderline soggy, the yakosiba was flavorless, and the tofu was mush. My partners sushi sucked. Never asked to refill our diets. If you drink diet, the way to please us and get a fat tip is to keep that glass topped off. Our server sucked, food sucked, grossed out. Never, never going back. Hope this review is seen.
