I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality here! We only had the seared achiote ahi (which I personally didn't like that much) and the lobster tacos, which were very yummy. Honestly, I'd be happy without the tacos, as the beans, Spanish rice and tomato x lobster stew were outstanding by themselves. Would come back, especially before a nice event at the belly up next door! 🪩
This place was a great place to stop in for a quick bite before a concert or while shopping. The service was great and the food came quickly and was tasty. The blackened shrimp salad was really good. Price was good for what you get. Kind of cool when you go to use the bathroom here you can hear sound testing going on at the Belly Up since they are connected.
Good food, great spot
Always a go to- always great!
The food was outstanding!
Great lunch and service
Nice atmosphere and good food..
good food and good service

Great cuts of bacon on their burger. Good food overall.
Very good good!! Great music ! Our Server was very kind. I love it!
Had the special of the day, Salmon Tacos with pineapple fried rice. Delicious!
Great food, decent local beer selection, great service.
Great place for a nice dinner before a show at the Belly Up.
Such an incredible venue! Craigie was a fantastic show.

Decent place to relax, thumbs up!
Great food service awesome
Great coffee Friendly service
We had a great experience last night, from the hostess (sorry I didn't get your name) to our server, Caroline! They were amazing. You have to try the Tubi Doobie Doo cocktail, it was refreshingly good! We shared appetizers and LOVED the Tequila Chicken Spring Rolls, Guacamole & chips and the BBQ Pizza!!!
Always a solid option for fresh and healthy fare. Plenty of healthy, and tasty / not so healthy menu choices.
Super friendly staff! Excellent menu choices! The Dijon Salmon was delicious! Try their Arnold Palmer, it's the best I've ever had! Can't wait to go back!
Great place to grab a bite before a Belly Up concert show. I went with the fillet mignon great flavors and cooked just how I asked for it beautiful.
Cool location and nice that it’s attached to the Belly Up venue next door. The service was great and they brought a lunch menu item out for us for dinner as someone in the party had unique diet restrictions. Food was good. Only had a little confusion about lunch versus dinner menu as the lunch menu was posted outside the restaurant.
Great service, very friendly
Very nice restaurant with a super friendly staff. They have some kids food items not on the dinner menu if you ask. They will make you custom cocktails. Super accomadating to food allergies or special needs, like really above and beyond.
Izzy 'El Cabron' can cook up something fierce! Their daily specials always blow me away. Good beer selection. incredibly friendly staff! not to mention i could go and just eat their bread and garlic butter all day. dangerous... but sooo delicious!!
The burger with the shallot wine reduction and mushrooms was the most amazing thing EVER!! I’m sad that my health has prevented me from returning to CA for our annual visits but I need another burger like this in my life!!!
Located next to the famous Belly Up music venue. Service is marginal and beverage selection is about average. It's a good place to grab a meal before the show.
Great food last 20 times I've been there. Pleasant people and place. I've taken many friends there...never one disappointed.
Loved the food, service and atmosphere! Will be back!
Excellent service. Delicious carrot ginger soup. Loved the fresh rosemary bread..sit outside. Great for people watching!
Kobe Sliders, I can say nothing else. Joseph, great service. Thank You, excellent food and vibes.
Food was amazing. Had the grilled filet mignon medallions.
Absolutly amazing! The lobster dumplings were perfect and the service was wonderful!
Always enjoy our meals here. Service excellent as well
Spectacular tortilla soup. Great wine. Great spot. DO NOT MISS!
Stopped in before a comedy show next door at The Belly Up to grab a bite. Wasn’t expecting much other than early entry into the venue which was a perk to eating here….my wife and I were VERY happy we made that decision. The food was delicious and the service was great. I highly recommend you visit this place before a comedy show, or just in the area. The spaghetti was delicious and my wife got the filet which was very good too. Since I’m not a drinker, I had the coconut non-alcohol drink which was VERY good. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! We are riding the motorcycles up there today again for a bite to eat.
What an absolute pleasure discovering this place. The server Joseph is amazing, I went with my family whom none of us had been there before, And each of us, including my 7 year old nephew- All were thoroughly surprised with how fantastic our food was. I told Joseph none of us had ever been there before, and asked him what he recommended. He said "The herb crusted salmon dish we have has been our best seller for over 15 years." I can't remember if he said "15 years" or "25 years" but either way I was instantly sold on that. My sister ordered the mahi mahi tacos, and my nephew ordered the chicken fingers off the kids menu. Now look, I reeeaaally love great food. Good food is awesome, but great food? Is such a genuine pleasure. I also love salmon too so, I can be quite particular on salmon dishes. But yo this salmon dish is GREAT. I'm an HB local, And we took the Pacific surfliner to Solana Beach for my mom's birthday, and the tavern is a 5 minute walk from the Solana surfliner station. We kind of rolled the dice on this place like "Meehh, it looks chill, let's try it." And maaaann. I'm still thinking about that delicious salmon dish... 🤤 If you are a local to the Solana Beach area, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. No, do me a favor. Warm a foolish man's heart and enjoy this dish for me. Grab those lemon wedges they give you with the dish, squeeze those out on that beautiful sauce, scoop that up with the lightly buttered Israeli cous cous- Just marinate in that for a brief moment. Then, Look at the sexy salmon. Whaaattt aaaa looker. Oh- wait- she's looking at you. You sly dog. Now, take that fork and just, dive into that salmon. The flaaavvoorrr. Mmmmm. Then, Take a picture. Send it to me. Let me live through you. That salmon, my muse of 2026... All the way in Solana, swimming without a care on the beach... Shakespeare was so accurate in his drama of saying: "parting is such sweet sorrow." Oh my salmon, Soon my darling. I'll come back for you. 🐟
My husband and I over several visits find this resto to be very congenial with a varied menu for everyone, fresh tasty food, and efficient, friendly waitstaff. This eve we had a pleasant CA Zinfandel, lovely vegetable soup and excellent grilled salmon with Dijon sauce. Sierra, our waitress. was lovely and attentive. Very relaxed porch dining. Our go-to place near Solano Beach. Nice art and a music venue, Belly Up, inside.
My husband and I shared the Thai shrimps wontons. The sauce was amazing and a perfect compliment to the crispy shrimp wonton. Good beer selection even if limited. The special was beef wagu tacos. Three little ones but also very tasty with Mexican rice and black beans. Plenty of food.
How have I not reviewed this yet? We have been going to the Wild Note Cafe for years! We look forward to the Rad Thai, Salmon dishes (often times there is a special), the lobster enchiladas, sliders and much more! Don't judge by the looks of the cafe. The food is outstanding and we have NEVER been disappointed. Oh, and the service...love the servers. Highly recommend!
It felt like a camping trip restaurant from a little town near the campground :) I love camping and that mountain atmosphere. This restaurant has that!! And the food was amazing!!
Pasta and lobster bisque oh my. We were able to be seated even though we had no reservations. We must have looked really hungry! Adorable, cozy little place with talented servers ready to help you choose your meal. Parking can be an issue but don't let that keep you away.
My first time at this cute little cafe in Solana Beach. I was there to visit my niece and she took me to the design district there. She lives near there and had also never tried this restaurant. The server and hostess were very nice and attentive. The food was delicious! I had the brie stuffed hamburger with mushrooms & a port wine reduction sauce. It was amazing! The slightly sweet taste if the sauce worked well with the savory very juicy & very fresh ground beef burger! She had the filet mignon sliders & my daughter had the Turkey sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back when I am back in town. Also the prices for the quality and amount of food were reasonable!#eatoutside #drinkoutside #casuallunchspot #independentrestaurant #bestburger
Haven't been here in years. Eat and drink here before heading next door to Belly Up for a concert. I had a glass of crown and fried calamari. The calamari was yummy. Not chewy which is great. Also the edamame was good. Really flavorful seasoning. Service was also good. Forgot her name but she was really nice and kind.
The food and the location were great. The only thing I didn’t like was the server’s attentiveness. I’m not someone who needs constant attention while eating, but she wouldn’t come to our table for long periods of time, and we would run out of water or condiments and sometimes had to go inside to ask for them. We were seated outside, and she was almost always inside.
Great lunch spot!
Next door to the bellyup night club.
Good food and atmosphere
Great chowder and food
Consistently delicious
Great food
Convenient for dinner or drinks before a show.
Always a good bite before the show at Belly Up.
Delicious Enchiladas...nice vibe
Good food, good wine, decent vibe
Wild note has a focused menu of classic favorites. I prefer their Chili-Lime steak tacos. The ambiance is also very welcoming and the proximity to the Belly up Tavern all make this cafe a pleasing experience each time. This would be a five star if parking were better. I can't blame them entirely, the street was not originally designed for such an influx of traffic.
Good food. Limited cocktail selection. Requested a mojito, they don't make that. Had a G&T instead. It's connected to the Belly Up so it's convenient for dinner before the show.
A great place to take a break from a long day of shopping on Cedros. Get the dumplings appatizer for sure. I really enjoyed the fish tacos as well. Sit on the patio if they have room. Enjoy!
We were lucky to have a great waitress and we enjoyed our bottle of wine with some sirloin sliders. The truffle fries and sweet potatoe fries.. not so much.
The special, wagu tacos, off the menu Thai Chicken pot stickers were wonderful.
My favorite meal is their burger I tried enchiladas and wont again A fun loving group was so loud we had difficulty having a four person chat Im not anxious to return If i do i will make certain that no group event is scheduled l
We had the Surf and Turf special for $29. It was excellent.
This place has a cool vibe due to its connection with the famous Belly Up concert hall next door. We always have dinner here before a show because they let customers into the club a little earlier than the long line waiting outside. Food is good but a little pricy. $21 for Fish and Chips and the portion size was modest. Fries weren’t fresh and hot (but I would never send a dish back due to fries). Good flavor. Note: they tack a 4% surcharge on top due to price increases, which bites. Can be a bit loud due to the high ceiling and cement floor but all in all it’s great if you’re going to a show next door.
Well... um... no.
Service was solid. Food was good. Scallops cooked perfectly.
Cute place good for pre show bite
Please clean the bathrooms. The stalls when you walk in have a bunch of trash laying on the floor. There is glass in the bathroom stalls too. It’s very messy. These stalls should be cleaned. I’m not trying to be rude in this review I’m just hoping this place will be cleaner when I come back. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.
Closed indefinitely when I tried to call Apr 18 2021.
I had lobster tacos which did not include lobster and in a canned tomato sauce for $22 and a 4% service charge to boot. No way is this place worth the price for the quality....
Had tickets for a show...My group of 4 arrived early for cocktails.. Spent well over $170 in drinks only to find out. We would have to order an entree for early entrance. Really ? Maybe have a 2 drink minimum for early entrance ? ....Quite silly...As well as it puts your employees in a awkward position having to explain
Very rude and unprofessional not to update your site You’ve been remodeling for a month. And not MENTIONING YOU’re CLOSED ON YOUR SITE WE DROVE 45 mn to come to lunch
The Ahi poke and the sushi burrito are a complete joke. The Cesar salad dressing bland.
We got here early for a show next door at the Belly Up. When we purchased our tickets, we asked the clerk where we could go for a drink prior to the show starting. She suggested going next door to the Tavern and explained that if we did we would be able to come in through the connected door as long as we showed our tickets for the show and would not have to wait in line again to get into the Belly Up for the show. We went to the Tavern, ordered drinks, then we were told that unless we ordered full entrée meals along with our drinks that they would not stamp our receipt to get through the connected door and would have to go back outside to wait in line to get into the show. So we had to go back outside and wait in line yet again after spending quite a bit of money for drinks. Very unprofessional for paying customers. We will not be coming back. BTW, meals average $25 a plate. Oh, and also charge a 4% surcharge. I'm not sure what that was for.
Went on a Sunday by myself. The door guy asked if I had a reservation. I did not. He said I'd have to wait outside. I asked if I could wait at the bar, because I was by myself. He said no. I said I hadn't ever been to a bar that didn't let people stand by the bar and order a drink. He said, "there's a first time for everything." I left. Way too many good bars in this area to be waiting outside in the cold on a Sunday evening.
