The deck at Baia is not for the faint at heart, it is for true Party People! With live entertainment, tasty drinks, hot eats, and the best view of a sunset in all of South Jersey, Baia is not to be missed. The prices aren't bad, service is good, on site parking in the front for motor vehicles and dockside parking in the back for water vehicles. Easy to locate, too. Come ready to dance the night away, make new friends, and lots of great memories Jersey style!
Always a great experience both in atmosphere and food and service. The service is always friendly, timely and focused on great customer satisfaction. The food is fabulous and prepared well to specification. I have yet to be dissatisfied with the portion size, flavor or being improper cooking. After dinner, take your drink and dance to the music on the floating walkway by sunset, dusk or dark. And the price is all decent. We love our Baia!!❤️
ASKED THE LOVE OF MY LIFE TO MARRY ME HERE! The owner was an amazing guy, the staff was amazing and the waiter Sal was a great guy and great at his job! best restaurant in NJ
It was good food for a relatively good size portion I would return it the resturant was not so far. Also I enjoyed the outdoor seating.
Last evening was our rehersal dinner for my son's wedding. Baia's attention to detail was fantastic. Kris Larcher, Manager, was so easy to work with over the last few months. Our servers were amazingly professional and attentive to everyone. The venue was lovely and the food was very good. Very happy with everything!
This place was definitely one of the best places down the Jersey shore...Great service, outdoor seating with live music, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place for a good meal...It's worth the price. The only thing that is a bit pricey are the appetizers for the amount of food they give you. But that would not stop me from going back.
Went to this restaurant first time with the whole family. Food was good, atmosphere was great. The bread was awesome with garlic and olive oil! We had the salmon (great), lobster ravioli (great), chicken parm (great), arugula salad yum. The only thing I didn't love was the New England clam chowder, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth noting. Service was terrific, people were very accommodating. Highly recommend.
We almost didn't come here because of the negative reviews but ended up having a great experience! 6 of us were seated quickly and received great service and loved our food. The sushi taco, salmon, and penne alla vodka were all highlights. Would recommend!
The food was Awesome!! Highly recommend the mushroom ravioli appetizer, our waitress was super friendly and accommodating. It took a little while for the food. But hey it's a beautiful restaurant we were relaxing and having a good time so it worked for us quite nicely.
The atmosphere was awesome, and the food was really good. We sat on the outside deck, and the view was great. The staff was friendly, the portions were large, and did I mention the beautiful view? We had a great experience, and would highly recommend Baia!
I went there from work after 11 p.m, 10 dollar cover, they had, two DJ floors, upstairs and downstairs sound proofing is superb, the music doesn't filter through. I liked the upstairs Dj better, high sound quality, great floor space, enough comfortable seating, proper ventilation. The bouncers deescalated a confrontation verbally without lifting a muscle,( they were giants though) they honorably let the culprit enjoy the night after listening to his side of the story. Only shortfalls, the bars were not properly manned only 2 cashiers behind the counter, I finally got my drink after 2 hours. A large outstanding dinning area, great food. Outside deck was packed with no dj music, they could do with a slow frolicking soft sound music below the din of constant hullabaloo. Other than that it was a satisfying relaxed evening. A place for all ages, multicultural divide, though predominantly white, a night of mature young respectable fun loving crowd of people.
Everything was great! The food, view, and service. The calamari was the best I have had in awhile, light batter and crispy. Ordered the special, sol filled with crab meat and spinach, very good and all crab meat no filler.
Made a reservation for a party of 8 @ 6 pm on a Thursday night. Upon arrival we were greeted by 3 female hostesses and they were all friendly. Within 5 minutes we were seated outside. The outdoor seating is beautiful! Ryan was our waiter and was as friendly and attentive as could be. We ordered burgers, fish sandwiches, soups, and several rounds of beers. Sandwiches range from 16 to 18 dollars and the beers were only 4 or 5 bucks. Great pricing for dinner down the shore! There wasn't a single thing that could be said in a negative manner about this place. If you are anywhere near Somers Point you owe it to yourself to eat here!
Excellent Birthday dinner with the family! Had the best waiter (Sal) who really went well beyond what was expected. The drinks were never empty, the food rolled in spaced just enough apart to give you a small break between courses. The deserts were delicious! Can't wait to go back again!
Had a amazing.time. Great food, fun and dancing
Great service, super friendly staff and atmosphere, beautiful setting. Full drink sizes, food was extremely tasty. Only down was a few meals weren't as warm as expected. Overall very positive experience.
We went to go to a place nearby but the wait was very long. This place had no wait. It was a lot more expensive and really not worth the price. For a family of 5, with 3 kids it was hard to find stuff on the menu they would eat. The service was good, the view and ambience lovely, but I have to wonder if it might have been better to wait an hour for the less fancy place with better, simpler food. We won't go back. Were not impressed.
Some of the best food we have had in the Ocean City area. The sandwiches were huge and well cooked. We were there on Sunday night, there was a band playing, which was very loud. The service was slow but overall it was a good experience.
Great atmosphere and prompt service, however the food portions are not as deserving. I ordered the Salmon and it didn't taste fresh or anything like Salmon, however the waitress was quick to pick up on this and gave me something different off the menu.
Funny thing is the food is really good and the waterfront location is special. Terrible untrained inhospitable staff at hostess stand, 3 people unsure with no smile no energy poor communication, waited 10+ minutes for bartenders to aknowledge i was there in 1/2 full bar. It could be a special place, poor training, lower grade staff in general. Food excellent, view and location excellent. Need happy lively people working with higher level manager front and center helping greet and get customers seated, missing upbeat music at bar, no lights on tables inside or out, 60% of what it could be with better management and training, just keeping it real, my honest assessment. thx
The food was decent, but the service was quite slow. There were 3 loud crashes during the course of our meal. One of those crashes we came to find out was one of our meals. The waitstaff were nice about everything and the food wasn't terrible, otherwise I would have given it 1 star.
Food is pricey and seafood is not really my style. The service was good, the food was fantastic but if you want outdoor seating with a group of 5 or more people, the wait time can be a bit long. Also the indoor seating for groups of 5 was a bit uncomfortable. They fit 5 of us into a U-shaped bench seat that was meant for 4 and I found myself bumping elbows with my neighbors.
We were a large group. We ordered many different dishes to share, and drinks. The waiter made a few mistakes, we had to return one drink for it was badly made, the food was average for the price paid.
Sat at the bar with a buddy of mine to order drinks and apps and after our apps they told us they could no longer serve us food. We asked why and they were beyond vague. It started as a "policy issue," and then morphed into a problem with kitchen equipment malfunctioning. A shame b/c the crab cakes and snow crab were delicious but we were forced to leave. Meanwhile we didn't see the wait staff tell anyone else in the restaurant that food could no longer be served. I think the reason they gave us was probably B.S.
Very high priced and food was not that good. Seemed reheated. We sat on the deck and didn't see our waitress very much. Then, when I paid the waitress said I was 20 short and I had handed her 3- 20s. I know what I gave her and it ended up costing mt 80 for a meal worth not even 30 (in my opinion)
Dont want to be too negative here, so I will say that I enjoyed my food. The menu was pretty lackluster for a place that is trying to be a hip, waterside restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible. Three of us got the same meals and they were all noticably different. Definitely inconsistent. Live was music on the deck was great and then they closed the door next to us for no apparent reason, it actually hindered the waitstaff significantly.
I wish I could say this is a joke. The wait for a table was over 45 minutes just because the owner refused to push two tables together to accommodate me and six others. My server was very nice on the other hand and I wish she was the owner. She was kind, helpful, and did everything she could to help during the hour and a half wait for our food after the wait for a table. The only thing that kept it above one star was the food, which was good. However it was over priced. I would not come again. Why couldn't they have just put two tables together?
Pros - clean restaurant, pleasant service by Basia & well mixed drinks Cons - seated at 7:15 - dinner arrived at 9:10 on a Monday night! Front staff service needs to learn how to welcome guests appropriately - a smile goes a long way. This restaurant needs John Tapper or Gordon ramsey in the worse way! Lots of potential to be an awesome beach restaurant!
Baia needs to get it together. You would think after years of being open the service and the time you get your food would improve. The food still takes forever and the staff is so rude. The food is ok for the price. The only reason why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because of our server Deshawn. He was so nice and did everything to accommodate us. Too many chances.
Sorry to say I did not read any of the reviews. We’ve been coming to OC for 20 years and figured to give Baia a shot. It looks really nice from the bridge. Well here it is ... the atmosphere is great IF you sit on the deck. The food was good BUT it took over an hour to get our dinner order. The waitress was very nice - not her fault. Once I spoke to the manager he did comp our drinks. Close to 90 minutes to get our food was entirely too long. It was a Tuesday night 630pm. Must improve the turnaround time.
Poorly managed: inconsistent seating arrangements; sometimes you can order food at bar high tops, sometimes you can't; long wait, but lots of open tables. Can you order food at the bar, and then eat it at the high tops? Who knows? You used to be able to order sandwiches for dinner on the deck...not anymore...now it's the same fine dining menu for both inside and outside, but they don't tell you that until you've waited an hour for a table and are handed the menus. The food itself is good, but takes forever. One member of our party's meal came out at least 30 minutes before the rest; he was finished eating by the time the rest of us got our meals. The servers are very polite and attentive. The bread/bus guy was extremely helpful and made sure we didn't starve while waiting. The owner/manager seemed receptive to our criticism, and offered us a gift card. So, we'll give it one more try. But, they really need to rethink how they use the deck; it's not the most conducive space for fine dining. At the very least they should make clear that the menu for the deck has changed before customers wait an hour expecting to order something that is unavailable. Here's hoping they can get it right, because they have the best bayside deck at the shore...the perfect space to take in the sunset and enjoy a few cocktails and sandwiches after a long day at the beach.
Literally sitting at the bar as I write this. Not crowded, 10 minutes without the bartenders even so much as looking aplt us. Joke. Post Script: Dinner was worse. Two hour wait. Food was good but ridiculous amount of time to get served. No idea what's going here, but suggest you avoid. Plenty of other places to frequent.
Food was mediocre at best. My veal was a patty and my wife's crab cake looked more like a hamburger patty. Very pricey considering the quality. To top it all off after paying a $184 check we were told we couldn't go on the deck unless we paid a cover charge. SERIOUSLY!
This was literally the worst place I have ever been to. The management is so incompetent it's ridiculous. We waited over an hour and a half for our food and it's was horrible when it finally came out. We talked to two different managers and neither of them could come up with a decent solution. The server even said don't tip me please because she was embarrassed.
i've honestly never been to this restaurant but i heard it was very good. a friend of mine said the food was amazing, but he accidentally lost his sunglasses and the waiter said that she would mail them back to him. it is now a month later and he still does not have his glasses:( if anyone can help him get his glasses please email me. thanks
Food gross. Tasted old and over cooked. Salty. Bartender was very friendly but never took our plates away no one cared that we left a lot of food on the plate. What a shame such a beautiful setting.
Management is awful. They treat their employees like complete garbage. Owner needs to be taught some manners and also how to run a restaurant. Location is amazing, but needs to be replaced with a new "owner" and management.
Went there tonight to have some drinks by the bay. The place was busy as expected on a Saturday night at 8:30pm, but it didn't look completely full. We walked up to the hostess and asked if there were any seats available outside. She said no, they were "sold out". I then asked how long the wait was, she said the wait list was full and they were completely "sold out". Essentially we were turned away. On the way out we took a peak on the deck expecting to see this place jam packed. To our surprise there were several tables open including a bar table along the waterfront. Leaving we felt like we were profiled, as the couple in front of us walked in asked for a deck seat, and were pointed to proceed to their desired seat. I realize this place caters to summer travelers, but as a local this was disappointing. I've never been just turned away from a restaurant without the option of waiting for an open seat.
This place is not worth the time or effort !! Please do not go there. We were told it was an hour and a half wait. we were happy to take the wait sitting at the bar. After a half hour the bartender told us that we should probably leave because the kitchen was no longer going to serve food as they were too backed up. Ridiculous to have the staff tell you not to stay and eat food at a restaurant. Defeats the purpose of actually going to a restaurant?? When the food came two hours later - the chicken Marsala had no sauce or mushrooms and was two dry tenderloins - not even a breast. I will say the manager was very polite and removed the chicken from our bill, but that's not enough to get us to go back. Peace and love!!
Really bad. Agree with the other posters on here... awful service, asked for manager 4 times, was given attitude when complained about bad service and cold food. The icing on the cake was when 3 members of our party were defecated on by hungry seagulls, and their response? "Yeah, that happens a lot. It wasn't an issue when we had the canopy over the side outdoor seating area, but since it tore in a storm, we haven't replaced it. You were the ones who asked to be seated outside!" Right. Never again. Crab Trap is more expensive, more touristy and crowded, but their food is HOT and their staff knows what they're doing. Never again, Baia.
Made a reservation for the deck, made this very clear when reservation was made. Upon arrival (10minutes early), the hostess informed us a reservation did reserve us a table on the deck. Now that we had arrived we could be added to the wait list for the deck (an additional 45minutes). Thinking this would be the only issue of the night, we skipped debating this with the rude hostess and took a table inside. Sat and ordered quickly. After waiting for sometime we inquired where our dinner was. Seemed pretty obvious by the wide eyed waitress she forgot to put the orders in. A timed 70 minutes later, two pasta dishes at 2 fish dishes arrived. To complete the horrible evening, we decided to pay cash for a portion of the bill and put the rest on a card. The waitress took it upon herself to charge the whole bill to the card and "let us keep the cash". Food was a "B" at best. Much better restaurants in the same area. Not worth the overpriced food.
Food okay. Service HORRIBLE! Went there for a job outing. None of their waitresses smile. When asked about food for second table the girl abruptly told me I had to go to the bar and I tried to explain we were with the group that they just served and she walked away. The busboy told me he was too busy to help us. I noticed a group of the help standing at the top of the ramp talking and looking at our table, from then on they preceded to ignore us. We had to get our COO involved to get food and he had to get me a drink. They served cold mushroom stuffed ravioli, tasteless calamari and we couldn't get the table cleared till the only NICE help Delonius came to bring us our other appetizers. Wont recommend and I'm sure from the service they probably dont want ME too.
I wish the stars could go negative. Owner was extremely rude. Bar tender had giant frown, did not smile one time. Restrooms were dirty, food was cold. I'm surprised they stay in business. Apparently the tourist crowd keeps them busy. Only people that haven't been there before. Someday it will catch up to them. You can have terrible service forever without paying the price.
Went here last night for the first time looking to expand our dining choices outside of OC, where we have vacationed for years. Absolutely HORRIBLE experience from start to finish. Reservations were made at least a month ago for 7:15pm on Sunday for the deck. When we arrived, the rude hostess staff told us that the deck is first come, first served and that our reservation is only good for inside. We said we’d wait for our outside table, which is the only reason we wanted to go there. After waiting for about 35 minutes for our reserved table (with our 5 and 7 year old children), we were finally seated by a nice girl and got a great table. Our waitress was very rude. We ordered almost right away, and had drinks served. But then she never came back to ask if wanted another during the whole night. We waited 45 minutes for our food to come and I asked to talk to a manager. I spoke to 2- who were even more rude than the rest! They said I had no idea what it’s like to run a restaurant, and “you think this is a long time to wait for food? REALLY??” I was totally appalled. No apology was made at all, and no compensations off of our check. The food was mediocre at best. We will never return and I encourage no one to go here.
Waitress was fine. Took 30 minutes longer to seat us than they said, we ordered immediately and took nearly 2 hours to get food. No manager made any compensation what so ever. Unfortunately, they seem to assume everyone is a tourist and they don't have to keep anyone coming back.
Reservation for 4pm (was told at that time Dinner starts), it was a lie, no dinner serving till 5pm. Ended up seating on the outside deck, and after 15 minutes+ and 6 tables seated after us being attended and served, while we were still like "ghosts" in the place because no waitress show, not even to salute. Ended up leaving the place and giving the complaint to the front desk, who offered even to pay for our meal, but NO,,, after such a hard time and feel like "nothing", I don't want a piece of your overpricey who knows what food :(
A month in advance, made dinner reservation for party of 15 and they guaranteed a private room for a party this size. Arrived Saturday night and was told room not available because owner decided to use room for party for his son's birthday! I asked to speak with owner, and he told me if you don't like table in main dining room, "there is the door!" With group that size, too late to leave so accepted table on the porch and smell of gasoline was awful, food was cold & only thing good was waitress named Valerie. I will never return and that treatment explains why their parking lot on Saturday nite not full and big frowns on 90% of staff!
Wish I could rate zero stars. Hostess was a total b*tch. Waited over an hour to be seated in the bar area where anyone can just walk in and sit. Not only did I wait over an hour, I also was then forced to pay a cover in said bar for dinner service. The entire restaurant was open. Extremely poor customer service. Ultimately I paid $200 for one of the worst dining experiences I recommend going to the crab trap instead. So disappointed.
Nice views...VERY PRICEY...I wanted to go to Crab Shack there was an hour wait...I should have waited!! They had a 30 minute wait with lots of empty tables...Menu selection specials were all out already just into dinner. Was. told all food is made to order sooo the wait would be a little while...hour later still waiting for "cooked to order food" Not impressed. Update after we spent 3 hours here last night, my food was ice cold as soon as they put my plate on the table, terrible I ate 2 bites and was offered that they make me ANOTHER same dish I ordered (which I already waited hours for first plate) said no thank you. The manager offered me a "complimentary drink" for my trouble I declined, if we had not been on vacation I would have considered just having it boxed up to reheat at home, After NOT coming forth on the managers end to rectify their lack of service I told her to just take my dinner and keep it. There was 4 of us having dinner there and 2 out of 4 were actually very good, the other person ordered the clam entree it was also horrible and she didn't eat hers either. If u do want to try it out to see for yourself stick to the veal parm or the chicken parm that is a safe bet and you should enjoy those two. I will not return there again to eat. NOT WORTH IT. Go to Crab Shack now that place is worth the wait all around, food, prices, atmosphere.
Had to wait 1 hour 10 min for food. Ordered steak med rare, came out rare. Server came to table twice whole time, and then came 3 times in 10 minutes after we complained. Server complained kitchen was slow. Manager thought steak was medium when clearly rare. Would not recommend.
