We stopped here for a late midweek lunch in September...and we had the place to ourselves! The hostess, Barbara, was attentive and amazing, our waiter was lovely...but even though we were the only diners, he was less than attentive when it came to refilling drinks. So much so, that my boyfriend (much to my embarrassment) banged his empty beer mug on the table...NOT COOL...but the waiter did come over, and Barbara checked in on us too. I apologized for my boyfriend's noise...which was louder than he intended...and they over compensated for the rest of the meal...even giving us the second round of drinks on the house (which was a very lovely, and much appreciated gesture!) Our tacos were delicious ( I had mahi mahi, and he had pork)...but the best part of the meal was our appetizer...the crab cake!! Absolutely delicious! We will definitely be going back! We even made friends with some locals ;)
Coastal Blue might be one of the best restaurants in the Wildwoods. This was a random find off Google, and wow were we surprised! They have some of the best calamari I’ve ever had, and the bread is deliciously house-made. The sushi is phenomenal, as is the lobster roll, NY strip, salmon, and spaghetti with clams. The bartender is great (with a delightfully heavy hand) and knowledgeable about the scotch that my father-in-law was requesting, the first one to be so on the island for us. Ashley, our server, was a delight and truly made our experience incredible!! Definitely will be returning and recommending!
We had an excellent birthday dinner here with a party of 10. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Our table was already set up with two high chairs before we arrived. The server, Virginia, took time to learn the birthday boy's name and treated him and us with great care. We ordered a variety of drinks, apps and entrees: martini, rum punch, cape may IPA, pina colada, beer salad, sushi, salmon, swordfish, burgers and crab cakes. All of the food was excellent. It came out hot and within a reasonable amount of time, about 40 minutes after ordering. I'd definitely recommend Coastal Blue to anyone.
This place was Amazing. Jim was in my 45 years of living the best restaurant manager I have ever experienced. The guy was personable knowledgeable just an all around good guy. The kitchen was closed, but we really wanted dessert and he without us knowing comes out with this plate of warm delicious lava cake that ended the night perfectly. We will certainly be returning. Also, try the lobster burger, wow.
We had our work luncheon today at Coastal Blue and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Our server, Justin, was so attentive and kind. He really gave us spectacular service. The food and Beverage director, Matt, was so knowledgeable about the history of Icona and Diamond Beach it added a special touch. Highly recommend the Icona.
This is a very nice place to come have dinner at. Both the inside and outside is nice but we decided to sit outside during our stay. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks and had a great time! The burgers looked very great! I wasn’t very hungry so I ordered a watermelon salad which was refreshing! The chicken marseille was delicious too
We had Easter brunch at Ocean Blue today. Everybody in our party enjoyed their food immensely. There offer delicious and beautifully presented fare. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Maddie and Matt were amazing. The crab cakes were out of this galaxy. Highly recommend to visit during your stay. We’ll be back for the crab cake recipe next year.
We had a great experience both nights of our stay. The service and food was great and they were very accommodating of our big group and two little babies. Definitely recommend.
We had a good expérience. The food was great, and our waitress Ashley was super nice, and made me feel secure with my allergies.
We chose coastal blue for dinner because my kids love sushi so it was a great that it was offered. Service was great and the outdoor seating area was casual and comfortable. Calamari was great and we loved the sauce that comes with it. The grapefruit crush was so good! The adults had the crab cakes and the mahi mahi tacos. The mashed potatoes were the best I ever had. And yes, it was only 3 stalks of asparagus but they were thick and well prepared. Service was great, I believe his name was David!
Breakfast was fabulous. Crab Benedict was done perfectly! And my husband loved his Meat Lovers bowl. Great service, definitely going back!l
My fiancée and I, along with our two small children, visited Wildwood for the first time and chose this restaurant and we did not regret it. The food was excellent, especially the ribeye steak. Our waitress, Anesa, provided outstanding service. She was friendly, attentive, and even gave stickers to our kids, which kept them happily occupied while we finished our dinner. All in all, this is a great restaurant to visit,
Today was our first time dining at Coastal Blue and what an absolute amazing experience it was. The food was delicious, especially the braised short rib. The service was outstanding and we were even visited by the head chef John and restaurant manager Matt who checked in with each patron regarding if everything was alright and how our weekend was going so far. We will definitely be back and are now thinking of booking a future event now at this gorgeous restaurant.
Had Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday. Everything was excellent. Good food, service and great views of the ocean. Will definitely be back.
My boyfriend and I had an awesome time at Coastal Blue! We sat at the bar, and were so glad we did, because we got to meet bartender Joe! He was so pleasant and attentive. The cocktails were excellent. I had an orange crush, my boyfriend had a Cape May IPA and we split a crab cake sandwich. I wish I’d taken photos because the crab cake was all meat! Very little filler. We wanted to be sure and recognize Joe for his hospitality. We will definitely return for dinner and drinks.
The restaurant is in a hotel and offers inside seating along with outside seating. A bar is also present. Pros: The food tasted great and the place was well staffed. Ordering was easy and had a relaxing vibe. There are TVs along with a view of the pool/beach (if seated outside). Cons: None.
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. We come here every year for the chefs famous crab cake and it is always delicious, the atmosphere is incredible and everyone is so kind! The food is absolutely amazing. I will return every year!
We've been to coastal blue Oceanside bar the other days and it was an amazing experience. The food was excellent. We had clam linguine and mahi-mahi fish tacos. We absolutely loved them. The atmosphere was amazing by night. Hostesses were very welcoming and friendly. Our server Anessa made us feel like home. She was very respectful, professional and kind. We will definitely come back during the summer.
Went to this place on a whim today and had an excellent experience! Our server, Alex, was phenomenal! he was engaging with us and asking us about our daughter with whom we were celebrating her 6 month birthday. Even bringing her pickles (her favorite thing to teeth on)! The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was great. Rated the food 4 starts only because my cod was overly salty but I still finished the entire meal. Would recommend again for sure!
My wife and I went to Coastal Blue for Date night. We had heard positive reviews from some friends about their sushi and other food. When we got there our server Alex let us know the sushi was unfortunately seasonal and was no longer being served. We were disappointed but decided on a shrimp appetizer, salmon entree, and the crab cake. While we were waiting on our food, the manager Shane, stopped by to apologize regarding the Sushi. Alex must have expressed we were interested, we both found it very professional and kind of him to come over even though it was not a huge deal. The overall experience was great, the food, the environment, and the staff all made this a good night out. Thank you again to Alex and Shane for taking care of us and making it a memorable date night! We recommend this place and certainly plan on returning! Hopefully the Sushi will also be returning soon!
Coastal Blue Oceanside bar & grill 5-19-2025 breakfast. Blackberry mimosa was good flavor. Meat lovers bowl was excellent. Crab Oscar omelet was full of crab & excellent. Side of Fruit was a large bowl of fresh & sweet strawberry, blueberry, pineapple and cantelope. Great find!
My daughter and I went there for lunch . Warm friendly service in a coastal atmosphere. Crab cake moist and delicious, as was the BLT with homemade chips
Hello all! We attended Easter Sunday Brunch today. Food was great including an extensive selection. Totally yummy..thank you Chefs! Hazel, our server was great. Lovely manager who assisted me in navigating the website to book for Mothers day. All with the spectacular ocean views! Thank you so much to the Coastal Blue Oceanside team for working on a holiday and taking such incredible care of our family. 10 plus stars EDIT : went for Mothers day Brunch today. Food was excellent. Service was non existent. The only thing that was worse than the service was the manager arguing with me about the service. We will take out business elsewhere!
My husband and I went for dinner and I must say the atmosphere, food, and service were phenomenal. Our server John was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. The food was the best we've had so far during our visit to the shore that we've requested to speak to the chefs. I highly recommend this restaurant; you will not regret it.
Place is always packed when we drive by so we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We went on a Saturday evening at 9pm. They close at 10pm. We had to wait about 25 minutes to get seated, but the food was pretty good. The big Ole crab cakes were delicious and big! My friends had the oysters. The deviled crab eggs didn't have much crab on them. I had the shrimp and grits which reminded me of gumbo with the slivers of andoui sausage and tomato based sauce. It was pretty good. They didn't not skimp on the calamari, plenty for four. My daughter ordered kids salmon was a half serving of salmon with green beans and fries. She enjoyed it. Overall good food and service.
Our server David was fantastic! He took such great care of a table of 15. You would’ve thought he was serving only four people. He was so attentive. The Kitchen forgot one of the kids meals and he took special care to make her feel great about it and was so terrific. I can’t say enough about him.
Breakfast here was good, nothing special. I just had an omelette and toast which should taste pretty much the same everywhere. Our server was amazing though - she was funny and fun! My friends who I was with though said they didn’t like their iced coffee, seems like they just poured room temp hot coffee over ice.
Very good restaurant offering take out food and drinks during COVID-19 reopening phase. We ordered a strawberry daiquiri and Pina colada’s. Both drinks tasted very good, but, could have used a bit more alcohol. We ordered the crab cake sandwich which was excellent and came with really good fries! Would recommend this grill if you are in the Diamond Beach area of Wildwood Crest.
This place is small but nice and clean. The staff was good. We loved the food. I usually only ever review something that is really good and worth 5 stars. The food here definitely was worth 5 stars. I had probably the best waffles I've ever had in my life, Sugar Pearl Waffles. We also tried the breakfast quesadillas and blueberry pancakes, everything was delicious. The only reason I knocked a star off was because we are traveling with a child and they didn't seem to acknowledge her. It sounds odd but not something we've ever experienced, which is why it stuck out. When we were all seated she wasn't given a menu, napkin/utensils and when we asked for water for all of us she wasn't give one either. She's not a baby, she's 6 but it's like she wasn't even there. No one was mean just a slightly odd few minutes requesting things for her. Again food was amazing, place was nice and staff was good.
For a hotel based dining experience we had no real complaints. There are not many decent spots around here when it comes to the various pubs and pizza places so it was nice to just try something new in the area. We did the three course dinner specials, portions could have all been slightly larger for the price. Apps were decent, the crab cake entree was tasty, the grilled chicken entree was hearty and left me full, the desserts were a bit bland but presentation on all dishes was satisfactory! Drink refills were consistent, the ambience is also very nice they were out of lemons at the time. Would return when we come down again maybe try something new.
We stayed at the hotel and ended up having one dinner and one breakfast here. As well as a couple drinks at the bar. Food was better than average for a hotel restaurant. The crab cake was delicious and the eggs Benedict was almost perfect ... I thought the hollandaise was a bit sweet. The bartender was excellent and offered some small shots to try his take on my favorite cocktails and we were able to enjoy some great live music. Fun, bright, comfortable space with awesome service and very good food and drinks.
We stayed here for a girls weekend. The hotel is amazing but the food not so much. The shrimp were good but the polenta and scallops were way to salty and do u see the microscopic scallop on my plate? Prob stick to a cheeseburger and fries and call it a day.
The food was lovely. Chef did a wonderful job there. Service was a bit slow. Everything clean and tidy, but the limited menu (I wanted sushi, saw pics of it, was unavailable) throws me way off. I would like to think there's some compromise. I understand the seasonality of the area, but I'm not thinking I'm being overly critical either.
The food was average for an above average price. Some in our group got the scallops which had a strange corn relish basin for them to sit in. The sushi was delicious. The crabcakes were also okay, they had a smoky flavor and also included red and green peppers in the mix. I wouldn't rush to go back.
While the food here is always good, the prices are a bit ridiculous for what you get. I ordered ceviche tonight listed as a main entree for $28. It consisted of about 3 salad shrimp about the size of a thumbnail and another 3 mini scallops also the size of a thumbnail arranged in a sauce around a small potato cake. Was it delicious? Yes. Was it beautifully presented? Yes. Was I still hungry when I left? Also yes. Pros: got in without a reservation on Saturday night, kids enjoyed what they ordered off kids menu (not overpriced), food was tasty overall. Cons: main menu significantly overpriced (sushi prices were a joke), waitress needed reminders to bring drinks/checks. We eat here about once a year out of convenience when we stay in the hotel and outcome is consistent: good food but overpriced.
Sushi app very good. Steak cooked rare not med rare but still very good. Salmon very good. Problem with cheese burger. Asked for NO Bun. I am Gluten free. Came out on the bun. By the time the kitchen took the bun away it was brought back the burger and fries were cold.
Early check-in wasn’t available at the hotel so we decided to grab lunch as a family. Service, atmosphere and presentation of food were good but my chicken sandwich was difficult to finish due to a bad piece of chicken with a rubber like texture. My wife’s chicken salad tasted just fine though so perhaps just poor quality control on the day we stopped by. For the price, I think we’ll venture out to some other restaurants before giving this another shot.
Our first time here and left with mixed feelings. We had breakfast at the outdoor patio section which was nice. Our waitress was good. My two complaints were the food took forever to come out and my eggs in the eggs Benedict were not poached and more like hard boiled eggs. I complained at the end because I didn’t want them remade and taking another 30 minutes to come out. The manager was nice enough to take the bennys off the bill. Somewhat disappointing experience. We might give it another try at some point.
We were happy to get a seat easily with no reservation for a large group, but we were disappointed with the food. The restaurant is decorated nicely and our service was very good. Unfortunately the food was lacking, the sushi was warm and the blackened chicken tasted like it was a prepackaged microwave chicken.
Very disappointed with the service, with the exception of the general manager Matt. He was a ray sunshine in this very underwhelming experience. It started when we approached the hostess stand at dinner, and were told there were no tables because they were booked up with reservations. Lo and behold, we go online and there were reservations available for that very time and multiple others. We’re then told they only have seating outside, though we spied several tables inside. “Reserved” tables I’m sure. Our server was nice, but our appetizers reached our table before our drinks. Our appetizers, the calamari and shrimp, were fine. The shrimp had good flavor but was definitely over cooked- hard and rubbery. I got the stuffed bass and my partner got the NY strip steak. Mine was good, but my partner’s steak was under-seasoned. Though it did have a nice crust on it. The veggies weren’t seasoned. Do NOT get the crab cakes. Not worth the up charge. It’s bad when the mashed potatoes are the star of the show. Overall, the cost was not worth what we experienced.
Our recent experience at Coastal Blue was anything but impressive. The restaurant itself it was pleasant enough. Small but inviting decorated on the more casual side. What you would expect from any seaside restaurant. The menu was limited. Without considering sandwiches there are only eight entrees available. Although we expected that going in as we had looked at the menu prior to our visit. Our server was pleasant and attentive although there was one concern that would be noted. I had been looking forward to ordering the crab stuffed Bass with crab imperial. After ordering our appetizers we then placed our entree order. It was only then that we were told that they were out of the Bass with crab imperial. A tidbit of information that should have been shared when presented with our menus. As such I had to make an alternate choice. I decided to order the crab cakes. That was a big mistake. As I saw on the menu that the bass was stuffed with crab imperial made with lump crab meat I assumed the crab cakes would be similar. That was far from the truth. The crab cakes were made with the much inferior claw meat. Adding insult to injury, as you can see by the photograph, the two crab cakes were more appetizer size than anything. Additionally the asparagus was limited to three stalks. The only impressive portion size was the potatoes. Looking at other reviews and photographs I saw, there were generous amount of asparagus. Not in this case. I can't imagine the chef being proud of sending out that order to a customer. My dining partner ordered the chicken bruschetta with risotto and tomato salad. The chicken was unremarkable, being a dish that you would expect at any basic restaurant. The risotto was rather basic along with the tomato salad. We also ordered two appetizers. The calamari was good, fresh, with a respectable portion. The pretzels on the other hand is another story. We received three pretzel sticks with three different types of mustards. As they were described as jumbo Bavarian pretzel sticks. I had hoped to have experienced a good German beer cheese with them Not a chance. Even the three muscles describe we're not those that we received. What I also noticed was that the pretzel sticks we're quite literally those you buy in a box at Aldi. At $14 for three pretzel sticks, it's an appetizer that I would never consider ordering again. You can purchase 25 at Aldi for the same price. Our visit was not over a weekend but during the week. The restaurant was far from busy. I can't imagine why they were out of various dishes other than due to improper inventory control. This restaurant is representing itself as a high-end culinary experience when in fact it's just another basic restaurant in a tourist area. I'm sure they rely on an overturn of tourists to visit their restaurant because I can't imagine any locals like ourselves having any desire to return. Our total bill was $99 before gratuity. This included only two soft drinks with no liquor. At any other restaurant I would expect to pay less than half. Save yourself the trip and disappointment and enjoy dinner at any other restaurant because you'll leave this restaurant disappointed and hungry.
The outside eating area was nice, however there is no view of the ocean. The only view is of their pool outside. Food was okay, just okay. We felt like we overpaid for what we got and how much we got. If you want healthy, smaller, fancy food, then this is the place for you. Service was very fast and polite. Everything was just terribly expensive for what it was. The starter bread was old and fell apart in your mouth into an awkward crumble. It wasn't warm or fresh. Again; for the price it wasn't worth it. If the prices were cut in half, then sure. My friends and I also got virgin drinks and expected the price to be cut somewhat since there's no alcohol in our drinks. Where we come from that's how it works. To our surprise, we were brought the check with full price for our drinks even though we basically had a fruit juice with no alcohol. It cost us $7 a drink. My braised short rib meal was $30.
The service is slowwwwwwwww which ruined the entire experience. We ate here for lunch while we waited for our room to be ready. Disappointed because we didn’t go back once. We have a toddler with us and when the service is that slow it kills the meal. My mahi tacos were nice and my husband had the crab cake sandwich which he said was ok. We ordered Prosecco and a beer which they got wrong. The Prosecco was like warm and they forgot my husbands beer so I had to ask for it. When they brought out our meal I asked for ketchup and my server disappeared. So I had to get up and get it myself. Such a shame for a nice hotel to not have a nice restaurant for their guests.
Very disappointing. Came here 2 years ago and had two out of this world breakfasts! Servers were friendly and fun young men from overseas. The toast, yes TOAST was amazing! As if it was pan fried instead of toasted. Home fries, eggs, mimosas! Just amazing! Sadly, came back to this restaurant two days ago, ugh. Just not anywhere near the same quality of food, service or atmosphere. Scrambled eggs with cheese were missing the cheese. Eggs without cheese were dry. Toast was, meh, toast. Asked for butter on the side, never got it. Mimosas were flavorless and tasted watered down. Home fries were soggy and bland. Coffee was weak. Our server was a lovely, young woman named “Trinity” ( I think) . She did her best, wrote down our orders verbatim, I guess the food issues were the fault of the kitchen. Observing other servers, I was unimpressed. And there were flies. Yup. For an almost $60 breakfast for two(!!!) you’d think they’d figure out how to keep the flies off the tables. It’s a shame. Was so looking forward to this meal.
Horrible just simply horrible! Place very dusty noticed all the dust on the bamboo statue as you walked in dust on walls. Service was slow as hell. As for the food raw chicken. Raw chicken how do you serve Raw chicken. Sent it back and it still was bloody raw. Absolutely disgusting! Asked for a manager and this sloppy guy named Matt came out and he was so stiff n was absolutely no help he looked annoyed because he was bothered. The chef was walking around talking to people and he seemed more interested in smiling and talking to people instead of making sure his food came out cooked. I will never eat or spend another dime of my money here and I will also let my friends and family know not to come here. So disappointed ☹️☹️☹️
Not very good. Got a run of the mill burger and every hotel at wildwood has their own restaurant and would be better off going to a gas station to eat. Just saying....and the prices are for the JP Morgan crowd.....
Cute patio. Average service. Just bad food. The rice in the D Beach roll was soggy, the shrimp limp, and the lobster roll wasn’t even average. The roll was stale. The lobster roll was lobster salad not a warm lobster roll. The chips were gross and soggy but the fries were ok.
NEVER AGAIN ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE. Place looks great with all the different colors and decorations and designs but pricing and portion sizes are outrageous. Ordered through DoorDash to pick up and was not thrilled with the shrimp appetizer. 17 bucks or so for 4 chintzy shrimp. Other food I got was good but the portions needs to be more evaluated.
Unfortunately, I have to leave a very poor review. The food was extremely disappointing not fresh, lacked flavor, and overall just not enjoyable. I rarely leave negative reviews, especially as someone who considers themselves a foodie and appreciates quality dining experiences. As a restaurant owner myself, I understand that not every meal will be perfect for every guest. However, when a customer clearly doesn’t enjoy their meal and barely touches it, it's standard practice in hospitality to acknowledge that and make it right. That didn’t happen here. When we brought our concerns to the manager, they were dismissed without much consideration, which was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. It felt like our feedback didn’t matter at all. I do want to acknowledge our server a kind and professional young man who handled the situation with grace. The issue was not with the service but entirely with the food quality and management's response. I came in hoping for a great meal and left extremely disappointed. I won’t be returning.
