While the food looked delicious and plated beautifully we visited for cocktails only. Our cocktails were made perfectly and generous with the spirits. We sat in front of the actual bar in a porch area that was small but cozy with a beautiful view of the canal and the docked boats. Very enjoyable place to grab a drink. Very friendly staff.
The meals were phenomenal (crab cakes and veggies with andouille sausage) and the service was wonderful. Atmosphere was 10/10, too. The portions could have been bigger....they were more like crab balls, not cakes. I understand prices are skyrocketing but at that rate, don't bother to put them on the menu. The risotto was reportedly excellent as were the fish and chips.
This is the best kept secret in Delaware! If you haven’t been at this restaurant, you definitely have to stop by. Their pork chop was out of this world. It’s a thick cut of meat, but so tender and juicy; like it just wanted to melt in your mouth. One of my nephews really liked the crab cake, and the other really enjoyed the lobster tail. Grandpa said the rock fish was very good. Also, don’t forget to have the crème brûlée for dessert. My son loved it and shared some with his Mom. His Mom liked the local Golden Tilefish, but didn’t like the mango for it being a bit too ripe. You might want outside seating to have the best view of the canal. (Just look at the pictures.) Make your reservation ahead of time to ensure you get a table at this place. Ask for Tammy, our server knows the menu well, and can suggest their best dishes.
I went for the ceviche and was not disappointed. Four different types of fish, crab, shrimp, sea bass, yellowfin tuna. All Blended together with lime juice and just a touch of onion spicy pepper great seasonings. Sat on top of sesame seaweed and it was awesome! I also enjoyed a cup of french press coffee. My group was eating a little bit later on that evening and I just wanted to taste some seafood because they're not fine diners. I was recommended to this restaurant by the proprietor of Blue Water House. Great recommendation you should go to.
We stopped here for dinner before driving back to MD and were pleasantly surprised that despite being full for reservations, they just had a table open up for us before we walked in. Both of our drinks were excellent, the falsetto (bourbon), and the ruby slipper. We decided to try several appetizers because so many looked delicious. We had the clams, the lobster & crab beignets, and the crudo. All of them were excellent, balanced flavors, not too salty or sweet, and clearly fresh ingredients. Our server was very efficient and had great suggestions from the menu. Highly recommend especially for dates or special occasions!
Wow. Just wow! Incredible food, impeccable and personalized service, in a charming local setting with beautiful views of the water. Perfect for a special date night or celebration with friends!
This place is very romantic with very original and delicious food. We visited for brunch and sat outside on the patio. It is a very romantic, peaceful, elegant setting. Although it is probably best for adults, it is doable with children because Canal square is right around the corner. We took kids to watch crabs on the pier, run around in the park and playground while adults waited for food or the check. The freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious and healthy for the kids, served in plastic cups. Servers were courteous and attentive and the only reason I downgraded it a star is because of the very long wait - it took 40 minutes to serve the first course, and another 30 for the second. Possibly because they were full that day - Sunday brunch. But the food was excellent. Also, they have a full bar, beautiful waterfront bar seats and great well-balanced and varied cocktails. A good selection of zero proof drinks too, which is great for pregnant and nursing women. Overall, I highly recommend!
We have just stumbled upon Harbour and we had the best happy hour experience! Fantastic water views, delicious cocktails and appetizers, and the most hospitable service from Holly! We had such a great experience and are excited to go back!
We went to Harbour for our anniversary dinner and we beyond thrilled with our choice! We sat on their deck and loved the ambiance. The hostess was so sweet and came around to check on us and offered us blankets to keep us warm as the sun went down. We tried several of their handcrafted cocktails, all of which were delicious! We indulged in steamed clams as well as their crab and lobster beignets on their special menu- so yummy! The broth of the clams was so good we were eating spoonfuls of it on its own. We had the seared duck breast and lobster tail with crab cake, another special, and we devoured those. The duck was perfectly cooked and so flavorful! And we definitely weren't let down by the lobster tail! To end the enjoyment we had the fruit potpourri pie and coconut creme cake... the pie was amazing and didn't last very long on the plate. We had such a great experience from start to finish that we will always look fondly back on that year of our anniversary celebrations because it was an unforgettable meal!!
My daughter took me out for dinner to celebrate my 62nd birthday here at Harbor at Canal Square. We went all out, soup to nuts so to speak, and it was a wonderful dining experience all around. Our waiter who Identified himself as Tom or Tommy was easily one of the best, intuitive and attentive servers I have ever had, and that's saying a lot. The Calimari was as good as we'd ever had, crispy and not too chewey, with just the right seasoning. The mussels were served piping hot with a delicious sweet curry style sauce that made me clean the plate with a spoon and a fresh whole Branzino fish which Tom recommended and explained that it was a Meditarainian sea bass. 🌊 My daughter had the duck breast, whuch was so good she insisted that I tate it, and for dessert we shared the Cherry Tart served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream from Hopkins, a local dairy farm. Tom explained that the desserts were all made in house by one of the owners. We both had tasty mocktails, and I finished up with a glass of tawny port. Although the place was busy, we never felt rushed and the whole vibe was reminiscent of a day's gone by fine dining experience, with a water view, and a more relaxed feeling. I'm not going to say that this was the best dinner I've ever had, but I'd be hard pressed to recall a much better one. When you're anywhere near the Delaware beaches, this place is a must try. 👌
Absolutely outstanding experience hosting a birthday dinner for my mother's birthday. Lorraine worked with us to arrange special decorations, a cake, flowers, and a really lovely dinner for a group of ladies for my mother's 75th birthday. I got notes from the guests immediately after about the outstanding service, food, ambiance and fun they had at Harbour. During the pandemic, when I couldn't be there, Lorraine and her team really helped to make the evening special. What a beautiful restaurant, in a stunning location. All of our guests felt safe and special. Sad to not be with my mother for her birthday, but so happy that the team at Harbour helped make a safe and celebratory evening for her. I'm SO SO grateful!
Harbour is Culinary at its finest! The freshness of their menu and the quality of their food says it all. From the moment you start to see your food to the moment you see it, you can tell that Chef Gary master his craft. Our Server Kim was even more delightful to be around and she enjoys taking care of others and definitely made sure we had a great time. Really if you are thinking about visiting them just take a look at their menu to find something you like. Because their menu is simplified makes it easy to try almost everything on there as a table if you’re with friends and family. The view is awesome as you have the opportunity to sit outdoor and enjoy the fresh air. I like their Calamari Presentation I do feel as though it can be improved on for example maybe include some varieties in the combination like jalapeño, bell Pepper or anything that can create a balance instead of that monotone flavor, and also some light seasoning in the batter. Their Crab 🦀 Bisque was spectacular very clean and delicious. The Duck Pate was a nice combination for me…had it for the very first time and love how everything on the plate had it’s unique character and together they were one nice combination. Over all great environment, great service, great food 🥘 ohh I almost forget: Amazing Fresh and delicious Cocktails try the Cool as a cucumber 🥒 you’ll love it.
Had a wonderful anniversary/ birthday celebration at this cozy, delicious, gem of a restaurant. Food, drinks, service 10/10! Thanks to Daniel our server for making it extra special!
What a great place I did not plan on going to. The cute was great, the service was excellent, the food impeccable looking and tasting. I would recommend my closest friend to visit and enjoy the entire ambiance.
we were able to eat here with a walk-in party of 8 at 4:30pm on a Saturday, which was amazing. we were seated outside - a very windy experience, but beautiful! the food was incredible, from the bread bowl and hot crab dip to the shrimp toast and vegetarian mushroom steak. all incredible. they have a couple of mocktails with seedlip, and a great espresso martini. highly recommend!
I have had two excellent visits to this restaurant. On both occasions, the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food was prepared with great attention to detail and tasted delicious!
Lovely evening overlooking the canal. Service and food were exceptional. Recommend the duck breast and crab cakes - really excellent . Finished by sharing the Smith Island cake - delightful ! Would definitely revisit !
With two full days in Lewes, I wanted to make sure we ate in the best restaurants. And we did! Harbour was top of the list -- and with its riverfront deck and diverse menu it was just great. First there was Henry, the maitre'd with the most welcoming manner who set the tone for our evening. Just loved him! We sat out on their waterfront deck at sunset, watching boats go by as the sky changed color. From the cocktails to the entree (perfectly prepared tuna for me, a delicious vegetarian dish for my friend) to dessert, it was the perfect dinner. Harbour gets five stars in my book!
Beautiful restaurant with amazing views of the Lewes - Rehoboth Canal. The food is very excellent and always prepared well. Rob and Tavish are top notch bartenders and probably make the best cocktails in the area.
I adored our dinner at Harbour. Not only do they have a wheelchair accessible elevator and a friendly staff, but the food and drinks were fantastic. We had a gorgeous view of the water and were all so stuck on what to order, as everything looked delicious. I ordered a Ruby Slipper cocktail(think- cranberry French 75) and followed it up with a perfect glass of Honig Sauvignon blank from Napa that paired so nicely with my seared scallops and spring veggie risotto. I was so excited; I haven’t had a scallop that tender in ages. Standout experience for sure!
Just before Christmas, my family and I enjoyed an amazing dinner out with good friends who recommended Harbour in Lewes, DE. We were welcomed by a warm, cozy atmosphere that perfectly accented the season. Dan, our server, was friendly and attentive, flawlessly performing the role of tour guide for the impressive menu and specials and thoughtfully offering recommendations for two in our party with gluten sensitivities. Everyone easily found something to their liking and enthusiastically savored our appetizers and entrées. I should also give special mention to the wide-ranging wine list. We were fortunate to have a oenophile among us who started us off at appetizers with a bottle of a Sauvignon Blanc called "Attitude" by Pascal Jolivet — a light, dry white made from organic grapes in France's Loire Valley region. While certainly distinctive, it uncannily complemented everyone's selected fare, and our tablemates smiled, swirled, and sipped two more bottles before we concluded dessert. We'll definitely be back to Harbour for more.
Excellent restaurant in every way. Ask for a harbor view table. The food is fresh, tasty and the mussels are amazing. Staff goes above and beyond and makes it a special experience. As a couple or group, you can't go wrong. Dress up a notch from typical beach restaurant.
Food was excellent. Server Kim was great! The patio was chilly and they even provided a throw for comfort. Love this place and will return often.
From NY , First time there, read reviews and happened to be a great choice, would highly recommend, our waitress Tammy was great , her recommendation’s for shrimp pappardelle and redfish entrees were spot on, weather was a lil chilly and she offered us house blankets, great customer service,,,thank you and can’t wait to go back
I have eaten at many seafood restaurants. This is by far the best!!! They have other items besides seafood of course. However, if you are looking for seafood, the crab dip, and crab cakes are amazing. My mother had the scallop dish which she said was amazing as well. Our server was amazing as well, he was super funny and very good.
There is no date on this review, but it was about 2 years ago I would give the place 5 stars now. Update below. ... A great location. A shame about the management, they are so odd. Went in at 5:00 and they made some sort of big deal about eating at the bar even though there was no one in there. They had to check for availability. I was at the hostess stand and the people in front of me wanted to go to the bar before their reservation for a table at 5:30, she has to go look even though as I said, the bar was empty except for my friend waiting for me. I followed them into the bar and the hostess got all indignant about it, made me feel like I was a little kid being bad at school. She does let me sit down and we had dinner but the two bartenders were aloof. The guy was the worst. I had to ask for sugar for my iced tea, flag them down which wasn't easy, they didn't seem to want to look our way. My friend's drink was empty for quite a while, neither bartender asked her if she wanted another. My friend finally flagged the girl down and asked for one. There were more patrons outside that the bartenders were taking care of but they had zero hustle and zero personality. Strangely, the waiters that brought our food were very attentive and friendly. I don't even remember the food, it must have been good but was overshadowed by the weird vibe. Update: We went last Saturday and everything was great. Excellent food. I had crabcake on a blue cheese salad and ate every bite, Good wine good drink, clams were good too, in a nice broth. My friend also had crab cakes. The hostess and waiter were very friendly. Great weather, perfect spot.
Gazpacho, Pate, crab stuffed lobster, fresh baked pie, great drinks, excellent service. You need to eat here. Maybe the best in Lewes! We are coming back!
We went for our 48th wedding anniversary. Food was amazing. Tammy our waitress was like dinning with a family friend. Lots of improvements since we were there under the old owners. Fun watching the boats moving around the marina.
Enjoyed dinner here last night. It was an anniversary celebration. This was our first time dining at Harbour. I requested special seating and possibly candle light. Once the sun set, Bob showed up with our candle, and the outside seating was perfect. Thank you so much for making the extra effort. Well done. Cheers
I recently celebrated my birthday at Harbor in Lewes, and it was absolutely amazing. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. The ambiance is beautiful and relaxed with great views and a coastal vibe that feels just right for a special occasion. Every dish we ordered was delicious, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The staff made the evening feel extra special with their attention to detail and friendly attitude. It truly felt like they cared about making our experience memorable. If you’re looking for a place in Lewes to celebrate or just enjoy a great meal, Harbor is a must. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner!
The food was delicious, beef brisket with scalloped potatoes and green beans. Red velvet cheese cake was the best. Service was great.
I didn't know what to expect so I was pleasantly surprised. Great food, great service and it was timed well. Great views. Outdoor seating available.
Went out for my wife's birthday to the Harbor Resturant. Had a great meal top notch. We start3d with the crab and shrimp fritters thar were excellent My wife had.lobster tail that she loved and my crab cakes were great. Service was warm, friendly and attentive from the hostess to the our waiter. Great view of the canal,, All in all a great night out.
Food was outstanding and definitely chef-y (no salt & pepper shakers at the table). A cut above. Limited menu, but we could easily find a few excellent choices. Desserts are made in house. We didn’t have a table by the window, but we could still see the view. My dh got the bouillabaisse (outstanding) and I got the crab cake. Crab cake was very good (I’m really picky), but the potatoes and the asparagus were to die for! We got the fruit tart and it was sized to share and it was SO good! Pricing was very fair for what we got. A great experience, would highly recommend for at least any special occasion, or maybe just a nice dinner away from the hustle and bustle of a resort town. Side note-wait staff was a little more ‘seasoned’ than what you find a little south of Lewes, and it was very much appreciated. No chatty 18 year old in your face. Much more refined here. In fact, everything was more refined without being stuffy. Dress was nice-casual but not sloppy. The owners stopped by the table & kept a close eye on everything, beautifully straddling the line between intrusive and nonchalance. Well done!
My 6th time ar this beautiful place. My friends and I have followed Chef Gary for over 15 years. This restaurant is pretty and fresh with an elegant and cozy atmosphere. Dinner and drinks were delicious. It's nice to have new flavors to some dishes we've had elsewhere. Such a lovely experience and a visit from Chef Gary to the table on a very busy night was an honor. Our server Rhonda was just the best with perfect timing for everything. Thankyou for a great experience!!
Excellent service and atmosphere for dinner. My party of four was seated for a 6pm NY Eve dinner. Our waiter did an exceptional job and didn't even flinch when someone in our party spilled their water across the table. Appetizers and dinner were great. I am already making plans to return for my wife's birthday. She is looking forward to going back.
Birthday Dinner. Excellent Service, Food. Atmosphere, Views. We will definitely be back.
We had an amazing dining experience! It began as soon as we opened the door! From the hostess' greeting to our waiter, Tom! The bread basket was delicious. There wasn't a morsel left on anyone's plate! Stuffed lobster tail; halibut over farro and a 16 oz strip steak! I highly recommend Harbor Restaurant at Canal Square in Lewes, Delaware!
What a pleasant surprise to discover this outstanding restaurant next to the Inn where we've stayed for years. Everything about it was excellent from the ambiance to the service (even on a jam packed holiday weekend) to the creative menu. We will make dinner at Harbor Restaurant part of our annual visit to Lewes from now on!
Everything here was phenomenal - the ambiance, the service and the food. Apps were great, main courses (stuffed rockfish and duck) were amazing. Great views of the harbour. Our server was spectacular, but it seemed like all the staff went above and beyond. By far the best food we’ve had in the Lewes/Rehoboth area.
Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in the /Rehoboth area! Food, ambiance, service all top notch. Only issue is parking.
We were early for our reservation, so sat at the "porch" section of the bar, where the view of the canal/marina was excellent. We ordered drinks, which were well made, but it took a while--our server forgot. My wife ordered a chowder for the wait, but our server--forgot. On to dinner, the food was well made, as were the drinks. Shrimp and crab fritters were quite tasty. The shrimp pappardelle was spot on. My crab cakes were as good as any in town. But again, the server in the dining room, maybe it was me, but the brief interaction was just off. And again, my pet peeve was fulfilled when we were ready to leave, and the server and the bill were nowhere to be found. I'll have to be fair and give the place another chance when we're back in town.
My wife and I recently ate dinner here. We had the scallops and the seafood stew (a special entree that was offered). Both were very good. Our server was great ... friendly and attentive. Great views overlooking the water.
We visited recently for the first time. We live locally and are always excited to try new to us places. The view is beautiful but we waited a long time to get acknowledged once we were seated, to the point where we were all about to leave… once we were greeted it was with a “hi” and some waters slapped on the table and then we waited some more. The food was good (not great) and as the evening progressed, we all developed the opinion that the service is just as bland as some of the entrees. We can get the views from Irish Eyes (which we love) and be appreciated. At the end, we chatted with another party from Annapolis and the owner/manager basically said we were being too loud (no other tables were occupied but there were some folks at the bar)…. The seafood was fresh and the drinks were strong, so it wasn’t a terrible night…. But with so many lovely restaurants in the area, we won’t be back.
It has a nice view but most of the food is ten dollars too expensive and the service would benefit from one or two more servers during the dinner rush.
We were in town for a quick weekend gathering and my buddy picked Harbour for dinner. The website sounded pretty good and we were open to whatever our friend wanted to do. The food was overpriced and under-seasoned. Everyone around the table needed salt at the very least to brighten the flavor of their dish. The waitress was very nice but lingered too long when she was at the table making strange small talk and stayed away long enough to feel like she wasn't checking to see how things were going. The website states amazing views of the water...it was eh. Maybe our table, right next to the window overlooking the water, wasn't the best for the views. But it felt a bit misleading. In general the restaurant was fine. Nothing was amazing enticing me to return. Similarly, there was nothing horrible making me never want to go back.
We been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so we went with some friends who had been there before. Unfortunately, although it was not crowded, service was slow. Our food actually went to another table before finally coming to us. Had the scallops which by then were cold, but I didn't feel comfortable sending them back. Was given the reasoning that "the kitchen was close to the outside door and the breeze may have gotten to the food, but they try to get the food to patrons as quickly as possible ". Other guests at our table stated their food was ok. My husband received a fatty duck breast. Was expecting better from this is upscale restaurant on the canal.
Unbelievably underwhelming! I spent $280 dollars on brunch for 5 for my aunt's birthday. It was a fixed menu, I'm not sure how they dropped the ball, maybe the A team doesn't work the kitchen on Sundays. They served cookies, lemon pound cake and sweet scones (like you'd find at Starbucks) in a bread basket. The food was dinner quality frankly. Poor cook on the meet, over cooked and soggy home fries, the single mimosa included in the price were junk. Honestly, I don't expect much in Delaware when searching for fine dining, but this was a maybe a $100 meal. I wish I could have gone into the kitchen and offered a hand.
It was our sons birthday, 5 of us in our party. We had drinks, which everyone enjoyed. We ordered appetizers, the ceviche was OK, the crab fritters were not good based on the response from those that ate them. The entrees were flavorless. My son ordered the tuna, no flavor, and cold. Looked like uncooked duck, just not good. My mother in law and I ordered the crabcakes, I can say the cakes were mostly crab meat, just no flavor, small and accompanied by 4 asparagus and flavorless, dry cous cous. My wife had the risotto, a green plate of something you don't want to look at. My daughter ordered the beef dish, which she enjoyed, and a few others that tried hers said it was good. The bill was over $400, plus the automatic gratuity for tables of 5 or more. Overpriced, bland place makes me wonder how it has a 5 star rating in the reviews. We initially wanted to go to Lewes Oyster House, but they were not open on Sunday. Our server was great. He was very personable.
We arrived at 6:45 with no reservations in our beach clothes. we were greeted and treated friendly right away. We were excited and ready to eat great food. When we went to order drinks, we were told that if it wasn't on the menu, they could make it! We ordered pear and pineapple Martinis, which were subpar! We questioned where our food was as it took almost 45 min just for the appetizer to come out. The table next to us arrived after us, with more people in their party, they ordered, received and ate dinner and were paying for their dinner before our food even came out. The manager arrived shortly after with our food and said it was on the house, we respectfully declined. We were not looking for a free meal or a handout but simply an amazing dinner with a view! In my opinion the only thing they have to offer is a view.
