First of all shout out to our waiter Noah for a level of service we haven’t experienced for a while. He was anticipatory instead of reactive. It added an extra level of pleasure for our evening. The food was well above our expectations. My partner had the chicken thigh (not pictured) that was perfectly cooked and seasoned, while my pork schnitzel was flavorful, perfectly juicy, and so huge 😆 the salad was less impressive but only in comparison to the amazing main course. The duck liver is rich but the fig jam perfectly balances it out. Noah also brought us more bread chips without being asked. I also received a card and a delicious warm cookie for my birthday (which I didn’t realize I mentioned during reservation). The atmosphere was very casual. The noise level was acceptable. There are… unique paintings all over the walls for sale that I can’t help but find a bit detracting. Overall this was such a great meal. Good service good food. I’d recommend this place to everyone!

We came here on a Friday night to kick off my birthday weekend and it could not have been a better choice. We sat on the enclosed heated patio and it was so tastefully decorated that it honestly made me feel like I was in Paris. Cozy, romantic, and just the right vibe for a special night. Our waiter greeted us warmly right away and made us feel genuinely welcome. We started with cocktails, the Fig and the Plane and the Fig Fashioned. Both were strong and stiff in the best way and really well made. We ordered the steak tartare to start. It was good but not the standout of the night. The real stars were the entrées. Our waiter highly recommended the flounder and it absolutely delivered. I ordered the steak au poivre and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Overall, it was a perfect meal and the perfect start to a beautiful birthday weekend with my beautiful family. I would happily come back again.

I ordered the pork sandwich and potato puree. It was the best pork sandwich I’ve ever had. This restaurant has mastered flavor combinations. We were a party of 9, had great service, and everyone raved about the food they ate. Not a single complaint! If you’re looking for somewhere with a cute vibe and amazing food, this is the place to go!

Just walked in and got the perfect setting. I was set on a perfect settee for dinner; that came recommended by the steward. He understood exactly what I needed and got me some heat in a little dish followed by a duck confit. I remember taking off two layers after I ate the first course. I then moved over to the bar for a cocktail. I was pleasantly surprised and we had some chit chat at the bar with some fellow patrons. It was a pleasurable experience. My steward had a strange resemblance to Vinnie Jones ( The football player and later actor who played roles in some english movies). Time to serve: 4 Taste: 4 Cleanliness: 4 Recommended: Duck Confit

For over 25 years Sondra & her team have been cooking up high quality French inspired cuisine using local ingredients. It remains very popular, while you might get lucky to walk in n sit at the bar, I highly recommend reservations

What a beautiful little spot! the girl & the dog easily is a top choice for any occasion. I came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of 8 of us and our experience was wonderful. Our server was attentive, the food and drinks came out promptly, and everything tasted spectacular! I would recommend putting in a reservation as this place can be quite popular and in high demand.

We had lunch at The Girl & The Fig on a Friday afternoon and it was fantastic from start to finish. The service was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. The food was even better. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It’s easy to see why this spot has such a strong reputation in Sonoma. It felt like one of those meals where every dish hits. My only complaint was the temperature in the outdoor dining space. The patio is fully enclosed, almost like a greenhouse, and it was uncomfortably hot during our visit. They did have a vent blowing air in, which helped somewhat, but it just was not enough to offset the heat. On a warm sunny afternoon, it can definitely get uncomfortable. That said, the quality of the food and service absolutely stood out. We would happily return, just maybe opting for indoor seating next time on a hot day.

Stopped in for a quick bite before wine tasting. This place was great. Service was excellent and the food was top tier. The white fish with caviar and beef tartare definitely hit the spot. Ordered to French Bloody Mary which had a hint of licorice which was a please change of pace. Definitely recommend.

Dinner at girl and the fig was a complete delight. Several times the thought crossed my mind that if I could freeze time, I wouldn’t let the evening end. We were celebrating our anniversary and every staff member acknowledged the occasion and made us feel special. Cocktails so well crafted I wanted to try the whole menu. Parsnip and pear soup? Yes lord. Chef’s charcuterie was a perfect trifecta of cheeses. The meal was extraordinary and the duck confit requires superlatives I have yet to learn. Creme brûlée with the choc chip cookie was a decadent choice that in retrospect feels important. Wine pairings were spot on. Portions of everything were humane and each beat of the dining experience added to what will forever be a memorable night. I’m not sure how girl and the fig created a restaurant experience that could be defined as high end French cuisine (but with a cozy farm to table vibe), extraordinary service and ambiance (but you want to become friends with the staff and start a podcast with the ladies at the next table who had mussels and salad and old fashions and complained that none of their friends wanted to go out and or travel and when should they try the new glamping place outside of town?), and art that both comforts and sparks curiosity. I want to go back until I’ve sat at every table. Well done, girl and the fig. I’m so glad the intimate partnership of flora and fauna weirdly required to create a fig has inspired a business bringing people and food together.

Very solid brasserie in downtown Sonoma. Generous portions and lively atmosphere for good price point. Recommend the radishes with anchovy butter, steak tartare, moules frites. Also enjoyed the deviled eggs and the flounder meunier.

The food was really creative and delicious. I got the schnitzel (which was not at all an actual schnitzel, but a breaded bone-in pork chop)… it was cooked to perfection. Juicy, flavorful, with unique toppings and sauces to give it some personality. Huge portions, so be prepared to go hungry. Right on the Sonoma square, so a perfect end to a day in Sonoma.

Went to the girl & the fig for dinner with my family. Immediately got seated and taken care of. What made our experience here 5 starts were truly the kindness and hospitality of the staff. One of the entrees came in very late but the manager was very understanding and kind and fixed the issue in no time. On top of that, the food was excellent, especially the fish. The desserts were delicious - crème brûlée was the favorite! Highly recommend coming here if you’re in downtown Sonoma.

My group and I had an absolutely wonderful and truly memorable experience dining at The Girl & The Fig recently! From the moment we walked in, the setting captivated us. The atmosphere was great; it's charming, cozy, inviting, and simply perfect for a relaxing dinner. The rustic yet elegant French-countryside decor immediately sets a delightful tone, making it feel like a true escape from the everyday hustle. The lighting was soft, and the overall vibe contributed immensely to a special night out. We began our meal on a high note by ordering the puréed potato soup. Given that it was a cool night, this dish seriously hit the spot. It was beyond comforting, rich, velvety, and incredibly creamy without being heavy. The depth of flavor was surprising for such a seemingly simple soup. It was the ideal starter to warm us up. For the main courses, we sampled a couple of their excellent offerings. The chicken thighs were outstanding. They were perfectly cooked, incredibly tender seasoned beautifully, and the meat was incredibly succulent. It's easy for chicken to be unremarkable, but this was a dish to remember. One of our companions chose the turkey panini special, and they raved about it, calling it delicious and perfectly constructed with high-quality ingredients and a lovely side. A standout element that often gets overlooked was the simple but impeccable artisan bread served to the table. We all agreed it was fantastic; a crusty exterior giving way to a soft, flavorful interior, perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor from our plates. The quality of the ingredients, even in the simplest offerings, shone through. The service staff were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering. Overall, it was a truly memorable evening defined by excellent food and a lovely setting. The Girl & The Fig is more than just a restaurant; it’s a wonderful dining destination that gets everything right. We left already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

The pork Schnitzel is so tender and juicy, it’s the best I’ve ever had. And the duck confit just melts in your mouth! Both dishes are so delicious that I’ll definitely come back for them!

I just returned from a two week road trip throughout beautiful California. One of the highlights of our trip was dining at The Girl & the Fig with Seth as our epicurean guide. He pointed us to the scallops and duck confit and perfectly paired everything! The pear dessert was fabulous! I’m so glad we went. This place is a gem! I loved the art work everywhere and themes in each room. It was a wonderful experience.

We stopped into The Girl & The Fig in downtown Sonoma, and what a charming little spot it was! It has that cozy, slightly old-fashioned French bistro feel — the kind of place that instantly makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the cheese plate, which was perfectly curated and paired beautifully with a glass of wine. My friend ordered the tomato risotto — phenomenal, rich, and comforting without being heavy. I had the fish, and it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and relaxed in the best way. You could tell the staff really enjoys what they do. We didn’t have a reservation but lucked out with two seats at the bar (which turned out to be the best view in the house). That said, definitely make a reservation if you’re planning to go — this place fills up fast, and for good reason. Overall, it’s a wonderful little French gem in the heart of Sonoma — quaint, delicious, and full of charm. Highly recommend!

On our 33 Sister week in Sonoma CA we had an awesome meal here. Fried green tomatoes, Smoked Trout, Olives, Mussels, cheese board, scallops, schnitzel, Steak tartar, Risotto. All fantastic. Rich flavors. Our server Liberty was attentive, friendly, always smiling and accommodating our one vegan sister. Wish we could stay and come back. Highly recommended.

I made a reservation on OpenTable but arrived 30 minutes late, so our table was no longer available. Luckily, we were able to sit at the bar, which turned out to be a great experience. The bartender was incredibly kind and welcoming—she walked us through the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations. We started with two glasses of wine, a mocktail, duck mousse, and sourdough bread with butter and salt to share. For entrées, we ordered the duck confit, the bone-in schnitzel, and a French omelette. The schnitzel is an absolute must—an impressive, thick-cut pork chop that was perfectly crunchy with a flavorful sauce on top. The duck confit was tender and well-prepared, while the French omelette was delicately presented with ham folded inside. To finish, we shared the warm cookie with a milkshake, which was the perfect ending to the meal. The food was delicious across the board, and the lively, bustling atmosphere made the lunch even better. I would definitely come back!

This restaurant is conveniently located near Sonoma Plaza, and parking was relatively easy to find. We ordered the fig and arugula salad, duck confit, and wild flounder meunière, and all three dishes were excellent. The duck confit and flounder were especially tender and full of flavor. After a full day of wine tasting, we didn’t have room to try the cocktails or desserts—but that just gives us a reason to come back next time. The service and restaurant ambiance were also good. Our waitress was attentive and checked in with us regularly. One small but disappointing surprise was a so-called “staff fee” of $3.92 listed on the final check. There was no explanation provided, and I chose not to ask at the time so as not to spoil an otherwise pleasant experience. Still, it was not a welcome surprise.

Really good dinner spot in the heart of Sonoma’s main square. We ordered the steak tartare which was excellent - highly recommend. We also ordered the fig & goat cheese salad and the butter nut squash risotto - both were excellent too, we were just too full to finish the dishes. Would strongly recommend making a reservation here if / when you’re in town, and if you can, eats outside with the heat lamps. Shoutout to Willie (spelling?) for being an amazing server

The Girl and the Fig is a charming spot in Sonoma, and it’s a place I’m already plotting a return to. However, to be fair to my whole dining party, I have to land on a 4-star review. My experience was easily a five-star one, but my wife’s was not. It pains me to say it, as I was absolutely blown away, but a review should reflect the entire experience. Let’s start with the dish that will haunt my dreams until I can have it again: the bone-in pork schnitzel. I'm a fan of pork, but this was on another level. The meat was impossibly juicy and tender, with a perfect, crispy breading. It was topped with a divine mixture of lentils, bits of savory pork belly, and sweet peaches. The combination of textures and flavors was truly inspired and something I could never dream of creating myself. It was the kind of dish that silences a table and makes you want to savor every single bite. Our appetizer was the bread service, which was good. It came on a small cutting board with a modest pat of high-quality butter and a little mound of flaky sea salt for dipping—a nice touch we both enjoyed. The bread itself was solid, but not something I’ll be obsessing over. For drinks, we skipped the extensive wine list (though it’s a beautiful selection for those who partake) and opted for our usual Diet Cokes, which were served with a refreshing lime wedge. Now for the other side of the story. My wife ordered the chicken thighs entree, and while it was perfectly fine, it was also completely underwhelming, especially when placed next to my masterpiece. It consisted of two juicy chicken thighs, served with what I believe were oven-roasted fingerling potatoes and figs. She described it as "tasting fine," and that's about the most glowing praise it could get. It seemed out of place at a restaurant of this caliber, feeling more like a simple home-cooked meal than a carefully crafted entree. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the excellent service. Our server was quick, friendly, and attentive—just what you'd expect from a fine-dining establishment. It added to an already great atmosphere. Overall, I will absolutely be back to The Girl and the Fig. I'll have to work on convincing my wife to give it another try, but I highly, highly recommend the pork schnitzel. It’s worth the trip just for that dish alone.

The ambiance is cute and bustling. It is a little loud, but gives a bistro feel. The flounder was perfection, but the flat iron steak lacked flavor and had a lot of gristle. Maybe we came on an off Sunday, but I wasn't especially impressed by what we received at the girl & the fig. Service was well above average and helpful, but I found the menu to be pretty standard new american fare and uninteresting. The appetizers we received were perfectly okay but my burger was perhaps the wettest burger I've ever received and collapsed in on itself. NO service. Expect they gonna pick up your credit card. That’s it. They won’t even stop by. Completely wrong. We have no water. My kid ran out of the water, and he had to drink mine. Because during the whole time, there is zero service. Not even stop by. And how dare they charge for staff fee without any service??
