We were referred to go here from our tow truck helper Norbert, he says it's the best BBQ in Texas. The cashier was very helpful with our order, we each ordered an entrée: tacos, nachos and a two meat choice plate. The creamed corn is very decadent with richness. Coleslaw is very fresh and crunchy with a nice touch of slight sweetness because of the added pineapple. Reese came out to check on us and make sure we were happy with our meal. We liked it so much we ended up buying items in bulk to take on the Road. Reese tells me they have killer smoked turkey!🦃 Thanksgiving is just around the corner, get your orders in.

Friendly staff and damn good food. One of the best baked potatoes I've ever had and really good tacos. I also tried the banana pudding and it hit the spot. Perfect single serving size for dessert.

We stopped here on our way out to west Texas, and it’s a great stop! It’s tiny, but there appeared to be outdoor seating too This place is immaculately clean! When we said we hadn’t eaten there before, we were given friendly suggestions. When I asked for cole slaw as a side, I was told it had pineapple in it in case I had an allergy. Other small touches were nice such as was offering us to-go cups up front since we weren’t locals and obviously just passing through. The silverware is solid. at least one step above normal silverware at restaurants. And for the people who care one way or the other it is a Coca Cola place, not a Pepsi one. The food is excellent. The pineapple in the Cole slaw really elevates the dish. Sonora is a small town, so this place makes an excellent “pit stop” for a delicious meal for people looking for something other than fast food as a stop. My husband loved it too. All the stars! Definitely recommend!

Great meats and cool spot to set outside and enjoy the cool breeze. 3 meat combo plate so good nothing left. Sliced brisket, turkey and jalapeño sausage with pinto beans and potato salad. Definitely recommend you try this place.

Mighty proper and friendly BBQ joint for a small town! We ordered the nachos and a combo plate with potato salad and elotes — everything was fresh, warm, flavorful, and juicy, even though we came in near closing time. The elotes could’ve used a bit more char for that authentic street-style flavor, but it was still delicious, and we’d happily order it again. Prices felt right for the generous portions and great quality. We meant to take a photo of the combo plate, but it was gone too fast — always a good sign! The young cashier started off shy but quickly warmed up — fun, quirky, and personable. The manager even came out after our meal to chat about our travels and share local tips for visiting the caverns, which made the experience feel extra welcoming. All around, a great spot with hearty food, friendly faces, and a family-friendly small-town vibe. We’ll definitely be back next time we visit the caverns!

I absolutely loved this place. Potion sizes were great, a plate and nachos were more than enough to feed two hungry people after a day of traveling. The manager, Reese, was so sweet and incredible. I was skeptical about the Elote at first but it. Was. Amazing. This was our first taste of Texas BBQ and I can say with certainty if we are in Sonora again this is a stop we are making without question. The staff was so friendly and helpful even though we were there near closing. The restaurant itself was clean and bright, with fun license plates on the walls. I thoroughly don’t understand the negative reviews of this establishment and fully enjoyed my experience.

This is a fantastic BBQ find!! We were traveling through after our trip to the Caverns of Sonora, also a great find, and WOW was the BBQ good. I had the lunch special, BBQ chicken thighs, 3, and fixings. The pinto beans, with brisket in them, were fantastic!! The cream corn was awesome! They were so friendly in there, it was great. I would highly recommend this place when you are looking for a quant off the Interstate place to get some awesome BBQ. Great job Pit Stop!

Friendly, helpful staff. The food was great. I had pulled pork elotes tacos with quesa fresca. I also had potato salad and elotes corn. Fresh tea made a hot day all the better. Delicious food. You need to give it a try!

My family stopped here after going to the Sonora Caverns on the way back home. The menu selection was great and my wife and I both opted for the chopped brisket sandwich plates with beans and creamed corn. The sandwich was well portioned and delicious! Normally, I dont expect too much from sides but both were so good I wanted to order more! Excellent Texas barbecue at this location, we will be coming back if we are ever in the area.

I ordered the Brisket Tacos with potato salad and coleslaw. The meat was amazing. It was soft, tender, juicy and succulent. The meal was delicious. The coleslaw had pineapple which was a nice offset to the fatty meat. I also ordered Granny’s Pecan Cobbler which was awesome.

This place was recommended to me from a lady across the way at another restaurant because I said I wanted barbecue. I ordered a two meat plate with smoked turkey and sliced brisket, cream, corn, and potato salad. The cream corn was amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve had in the very very long time felt like homestyle cooking, which is very hard to find nowadays. It’s definitely one of the best barbecue places I’ve been to the quality of meat was really tender smoked turkey was super soft. I highly recommend stopping at this location. The servers are very polite, very informative about answering my questions in regards to how the food was prepared and what kind of meat they use and where they get the meat from

Staff here is super friendly and patient! The food here is amazing. I got the brisket and ribs and both with fatty but not too fatty it was a good balance and had a lot of flavor. I also got the baked potato which for some reason was just so delicious, it was big and cooked perfectly and complimented the meat well when paired together. Great place to stop and get some food if you’re making a drive by!

The food was good! We are from Austin, so the standard for BBQ is high! The service was super fast and friendly. The restaurant has a cute themed decor. My teens had the brisket sandwich and left nothing behind. My husband got the Pit Stop nachos. It’s definitely enough to share with a full table! I got the smoked chicken; it was good. I would have loved a bit more smoky flavor. The creamed corn was my favorite thing from my plate. We drank water and with tip, it was $80 for 4 adults. Stop in if it’s meal time when you’re passing through this area.

I recently visited Pit Stop BBQ and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I ordered the three-meat plate but chose only brisket, paired with a baked potato and a side of beans. The baked potato arrived only partially heated, with the cheese and butter sitting unmelted on top. The beans were extremely hot in temperature but lacked seasoning altogether. The brisket itself was decent in texture but lacked flavor and seasoning. Only one sauce option was available at the table, which was very basic and did not elevate the meat. When I requested a pickled salad, I was initially told it might be an additional charge, but I was eventually provided with a very small cup of pickles and sliced onions. The dining atmosphere also left much to be desired. There were a noticeable number of flies present in the dining area, kitchen, and even the restroom, which is concerning for a restaurant environment. While the prices at Pit Stop BBQ are slightly lower than nearby restaurants, the portion sizes felt very limited — almost as if weighed out carefully to minimize serving sizes. This left the meal feeling incomplete, despite the fair menu pricing. Overall, the experience was poor. The food needs improvement in both flavor and preparation, portion sizes should be more generous, and the insect issue must be addressed urgently. I hope management takes these concerns seriously by fumigating the facility, improving food quality, and ensuring meals are served hot and satisfying. At this time, I would not return and must give Pit Stop BBQ the lowest rating.
