Very good! The staff was polite and friendly. We tried an assortment of treats from there squares, muffins, cupcakes, chocolate croissant and there famous cookies. Even there coffee drinks were very good. Everything was well made and well balanced. Not overly sweet and alot of flavor! Definitely worth a visit!
Its Tates. World (America) famous cookies. They happen to be my favorite. I’ve gotten a number of custom cakes done by these folks. Always delicious. My favorite is the black velvet cake. I tried to order a red velvet, but they don’t use food dye which is amazing as it is known to cause cancer. Good work, Tates! I will comment, the size of their cookies since I was a kid has most definitely gotten smaller. I guess they’re trying to fight the inflation with the extra quarter of an inch savings. Mom always told me it wasn’t the size that mattered the most. 🤣
The ice cream sandwiches are soooo good. I was surprised they had so many different combos, including gluten free options. Also has regular bakery items like squares, cakes, and cupcakes. Only thing to watch out for is the parking lot - there is no “entry” or “exit” only sides, so you have to be careful pulling in from the main road. I almost got hit today while trying to enter the parking lot by an excited patron leaving the lot with their cookies. So if you miss that entrance, you can go around the block to the other side, which is more quiet.
When I first had Tates chocolate chip cookies was when my my dad brought home a box given to him. I was looking at it like why would someone want a hard cookie and then opened it up and ate and now know what the fuss is about. So amazingly good. I went here and now am obsessed with the Blondie brownies. So amazing.
i made my very first order with tate's cookies, oatmeal raisin and coconut. and i received them two days after ordering.when i open the first bag of coconut cookies i could not stop eating them.i i waited til today to open the oatmeal raisin and it was like i just bought them .i was amazed of how fresh they were as the first day and the way they tasted different from store bought oat meal soft cookies.from now on i am ordering from tate's .thank you for a wonderful experience. you have a new happy customer for life
Love the oatmeal, coconut & even chocolate chip walnut? I don’t like chocolate but I loved yours! Now I can buy the oatmeal & the coconut cookies which I prefer! I’ve always disliked Soft fat big ole cookies! I want crispy or hard & thiner & smaller! Tate’s are perfect!! Love them!!
We are in Winchester Va, and you cant keep these wonderful thin crispy chocolate chip cookies on the shelves, if you find them, you have to buy them all up, because you wont be able to get them for awhile. They truly are the BEST, "store bought" chocolate chip cookie I have ever tasted, in my life! Nothing fake about them, and NO "store bought after taste"! THEY are AMAZING! Please keep making them and sending them to Winchester VA!! Impressive....someone is still making quality products! Your a dying breed! Keep up the amazing, authentic baking!! Blessings!
Best chocolate croissants this side of the Atlantic! Always delicious baked goods. Awesome chocolate mousse cake! Great coffee too! Nice staff.
I purchased your GF cookies at Dorothy Lane Market in Dayton, Ohio today and they are wonderful! Loved that they were the same price as the other cookies which made me feel like a "regular" food shopper. They were crispy, light and very rich with flavor. The BEST GF cookie I've ever had. ♡
Some Tates treats you don't see in regular stores.
If you are in or around Southampton, Tate's Bake Shop has to be your first stop in the morning! A great selection of coffee's to start, I had the cappuccino which was simply wonderful! For breakfast, there is a wide range of goodies to choose from. I have had the cookies in the past, which is a staple, but on this visit I went for the Lindzor Tort and that was amazing! The staff was very helpful with their recommendations and service was with a smile. This place has been very Covid Smart with distancing and limited people in the shop, but even if there is a short wait outside, you won't regret your visit to Tate's Bake Shop!
Everything is good. Literally everything. No fresh cookies though which is a shocker but everything else they make is excellent. You can still get prepackaged Tates here and it's nice you can get flavors you might not see normally.
The fresh strawberry cake was next level. I’m assuming it’s seasonal so go get it while it’s still there. Fresh pound cake with a whole lot of roasted strawberry’s on top. Just the best I’ve ever had. Also check out the fresh seasonal lemonades
The cupcakes here were amazing! They were so moist and the frosting isn’t heavy like you’d think it would be. They held up when I brought them on the plane ride home to Chicago from the same day.
I would like to start off by saying I’ve never written a review. I buy these cookies from the grocery store. Tried them last week and have bought quite a few since. If I have these in my house I can not not eat them. I’ve been watching what I eat and have lost 70lbs in the last 5-6 months. I’m afraid it’s a done deal for me :). These are absolutely the best cookies you can purchase from a grocery store. My mouth is drooling and I can’t wait to get back home. Doesn’t matter the kind. Gluten free/chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, walnut, coconut, etc. they are all to die for…..
Freshly baked goods daily. Breakfast croissants was amazing. Flakey and buttery pastry😋. Bread pudding was still hot when we purchased and tasted delicious. There are so many sweet options in this store with a full rack dedicated to gluten free peeps as well. We received great service with a smile from the moment we walked into the store until we left.
Great stop if you’re visiting the town! The bakery is bursting with the smell of freshly baked goods. They offer coffee, pies, cookies, brownies, frozen treats & a ton more! The workers are so helpful & patient if you stop by to browse or to make a large purchase. Coming back again soon!
Tates does a really great job. They’re one of my go-to places when it comes to coffee, pastries, and desserts. My boyfriend and I come here every time we’re in Southampton. We get iced coffees and croissants 🥐. The coffee is really good and theres a nice area to sit outside. Inside is really cute with so many different things you can get such as bread, croissants, little ice cream cookie sandwiches, so many different desserts, the newest flavor and bag of cookies, an amazingly delicious pie 🥧, cakes, organic pasta from italy, crackers, and so much more!
I'm absolutely obsessed with Tate's! The cookies are amazing--I felt like I was in cookie heaven, especially with the limited edition flavors they offer. My favorites are the blueberry and walnut chocolate chip; they're thin, crispy, and perfectly buttery. While I was there, I also tried a cupcake and coffee, and both were excellent. Definitely a 10/10 experience!
There’s nothing that you can say that In Tate’s Bake Shop tastes wrong, everything is delicious! The brownies, the chocolate chip cookies, granola everything! Is a small place for you to grab something and take It home for sharing. Just be careful! Everything have a giant amount of calories, but they are worth it
Went here on a recommendation, and the baked goods did not disappoint! The staff was pleasant and patient. We ordered two lattes and sadly one employee (Teresa) was rude about making them and was clanging dishes around, she did not even call out our beverages when they were done. Other than that, our visit was a delight.
There’s no denying the fact that their bake goods are amazing, delicious, and without a close second in taste. I’m a firm believer in supporting family run small businesses. Their heart and soul are as an important ingredient as sugar and flour. That, and the fact that family run businesses were, and still are the framework of American success stories!
This is a LONGGGG DISTANCE 👋🏾From Amenia Ny .. I know it’s nothing like an onsite baked cookie 🍪🤤.. the thing is your cookies are great out the bag.. Sooo .. I can only imagine a fresh Baked Tate must taste like😋😋😋 .. I really need to make my way out there this summer.. 😮💨😮💨😮💨;&&OUTSTANDING job on your company. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Y’all I need sweets to live sorry I had to come here okay… I was just gonna get cookies but I may have gotten more… We all know Tate’s cookies, they’re crispy, crunchy, have the perfect amount of chocolate, YUM! But I did see they had a limited edition Mint Chocolate Chip flavor which I gasped at the sight of because I LOOOOVE MINTTTT. These had the perfect amount it kept the classic Tate’s cookie flavor and added a perfect essence of mint. Also got a brownie which was HELLA DENSE OMG like a solid brick like ZAYUMMM (this is a good thing) I also got fresh coffee crumble cake from the bakery which was FIRE. Equally soft on the bottom and crunchy on the top. Paired it with an iced goldenmilk latte which was beautiful and tasted pretty good but even better with some of the self serve simple syrup!
A very nice surprise in Southampton. Tate's cookies are phenomenal but the store is great. Their coffee was delicious. Iced and hot, both are great. I recommend the Lavender Honey Iced. The scones are so good, raisin and also the apricot ginger. Fresh! Great atmosphere too. Go see them. Tell em Barsnobs sent ya!
Updated June 18th 2023 The bakery continues to rock & roll Highlights on this visit were.. Fresh Strawberry Cake Find it behind the counter this summer. This in your mouth delight is a vanilla pound-cakey cake topped witha pile of fresh sliced Strawberries then baked. The Strawberries become roasted and the cake is moist. This cake smells and tastes heavenly. The Pride cupcakes were a delightful colorful celebration via a not too sweet chocolate or vanilla cupcake and the pile of luscious buttercream piled on top is the perfect top for these beauties. The Birthday Cake Latte....served hot or cold. Although I find it delightful seeing Tate's Cookies for sale seemingly everywhere....There is no substitute for a visit to the place where it started. The fresh breads, muffins, cupcakes and other are worth the trip everytime. Keep an eye on the display behind the counter for special bakes. We once scored a couple slices of the most delicious Fresh Strawberry Cake that was just fantastic. The seasonal bread puddings are not to be missed.
I have been going to Tate's bake shop since o moved to Long Island , the shop has the best cupcakes and cakes that you can only buy from this store. The coffee are also good. I also noticed that there are some cookie varieties thay you can only find here. It is worth visiting and their staff are very accommodating and friendly. I wish they open longer hours especially in summer and fall🥰.
I’ve always wanted to visit the famous Tate’s bake shop as I often buy their stuff from Whole Foods. It was a great experience. We picked up a few goodies to bring back home to Jersey. We got their keylime pie, croissant, raspberry cream filled dark chocolates, chocolate pound cake, dark almond chocolate bark and some cupcakes and granola bars. Everything was fresh and delicious! Great staff, service and goodies!
I come here to buy their Golden Fudge cupcakes. The fudge is ultra thick, smooth and creamy; and it is made with semi-sweet dark cocoa, according to some employees that I spoke to. Their speciality pound cakes are also very good. The strawberry is my favorite although I also like the blueberry one. They are both loaded with fresh fruit. The chocolate chip cookie pie is devoured at all parties. Guests love it, especially when it’s warm and served with some vanilla ice cream. It is just as good at room temperature.
I was brought some cookies from here and they were quite nice. The flavours were interesting and the cookies nice. Cookies were the crispy kind but not hard. Each pack had two sealed packets of cookies so you didn't have to eat it all in one sitting, saving them for another day.
The cookies have gotten smaller (cookie inflation). Only reason why it didn’t get 5 stars. I am happy for KK and that she got to sell out. Amazing what you can do when your recipe is awesome… The black velvet cake (special order) is phenomenal. Don’t forget your double espresso on the way out…
I stopped in here with my friends with a late afternoon snack and was happy with the options and the coffee and tea available. They even had ice cream! However it was a bit pricey in my opinion for the size of the cookie packages and the pastries. The cookies are also all crunchy, no chewy ones, but that just be my preference.
Best chocolate chip cookies that rival my mother's. They are super addictive and buttery with semisweet chocolate throughout. I wish the lemon cookies didn't have so much lemon extract as they and ginger cookies have a 'bite". Lemon zest instead would be much better. Ginger cookies also have too much ginger for our taste. The rest of the cookies were delicious. We love Tate's and will be frequent customers.
Great atmosphere in this little shop, and delicious baked goods! I loved the low prices and fresh baked treats. I got a small variety of baked goods and all of them were super tasty. My iced tea was also great. However, I couldn’t believe that they didn’t sell the famous cookies FRESH! Sure, you could buy a package of them, but that’s no different than purchasing anywhere else. I was disappointed I wouldn’t get to try some fresh ones!
Mediocre baked at a premium price.Pastry should be buttery and moist.Their pastries are dry.Not very good.I would not go there again.Sorry, but that’s a fact.
Ah, Tate’s Bake Shop, the mothership of the cookies that once brought me joy. I was so excited to visit, hoping for a taste of the real deal—the freshly baked cookies that started it all. Instead, what did I find? A baffling bakery filled with every baked good under the sun… except the cookies that made them famous. Seriously, what gives? The only way to get Tate’s cookies at the bake shop is in the exact same grocery store packaging you can buy anywhere. So much for that fresh-from-the-oven magic. I don’t know, maybe I was expecting too much—like, I don’t know, fresh cookies from the place that invented them. But wait, there’s more! The door was practically a workout to open, which, hey, maybe they’re just trying to burn some calories before you eat. And then there’s the sign—yes, a sign—that declares “one coffee, no refills.” Classy. Because nothing says “luxury bake shop” like rationing your caffeine. Tate’s Bake Shop, you’ve got the name, the reputation, and (allegedly) the recipe. Maybe one day you’ll actually sell your cookies fresh and let me have a second cup of coffee without feeling like I’m asking for the moon.
Go for the baked goods, hard skip on the coffee. Cold brew was weak and watery enough to clip multiple stars. Left feeling ripped off.
They have good products, however popular items such as Apricot/Ginger Scones are sold out fast.I was there yesterday at 12 pm and it was sold out as many other banking goods, which gives the customer limited options. It should be always available and stocked, especially the popular items. Items that crumbles shouldn’t be packed in the brown bags. That what happened with 6 muffins that I got. All got crumbled until I got home. They offer boxes too, but they use the brown bags because it’s cheaper. At checkout the customer has to request to be packed in a box. All the products should be packaged carefully as consideration to the customer who spend their money at the store. Without the “customer” the store wouldn’t exist! The young people who assist the customers at checkout are really unprofessional. It’s noticeable from their behavior and the way they are handling customers that they don’t have any customer service training nor manners as well. The management and especially the owners should put an emphasis on providing outstanding customer service and provide the necessary training to its employees!
Underwhelming. None of the cookies are fresh. They have other fresh baked items but not their cookies. It’s fine but you can just get the cookies at the grocery store.
I have been buying Tate's cookies for years and love them. I hadn't purchased any in a while so yesterday I picked some up at Target in my area. I had always paid $3.99 for the Chocolate Chip. Yesterday they were $6.49, a 61% increase. I understand that prices everywhere have increase and you can take it or leave it. However, when I opened them today they were 30% smaller than they were before. So double whammy, cost 61% more and are 30% smaller. And no, these were not the mini Tate's. So the price is one thing. You can charge whatever you think you need to charge, because the customer can make the decision to purchase or not, but the surprise of a much smaller cookie is just a deceptive tactic that some food companies use to save money. Sorry Tate's, you lost a lifetime customer!
I’m a local and have always loved going to Tate’s. It’s always been a staple to give guests at my Airbnb. But now all they sell are the same green-bagged cookies you can get at a hundred other stores at a lower price. No more cellophane bags with little bows. And definitely NOT fresh baked. It’s not special anymore. Staff could use a lesson on how to be friendly. Last week, I went to but some pastries and a couple of cupcakes. They handed me the cupcakes in those plastic containers, and when I asked for a paper bag, the girl said no- those are for pastries. So for $60, I couldn’t get one lousy paper bag??? Things at a bake shop should be sweet. What a disappointment that such an iconic local place has sold out.
Staff were rude and aloof to customers and very audibly berating each other in the kitchen. Unprofessional. The cupcakes and their icing are cold and dense. The cookies are thin and hard. The croissants were the best that I’ve had since Paris. The muffins were moist and delicious. I will be back, but with a bad attitude. Do with that information what you will.
Baked goods and cookies were great. Latte was a complete mess, way too much milk and barely 1 shot of espresso (should have had at least 2 shots). I asked the service to potentially fix it, as it was obviously way too much milk or not enough espresso. Baristas need better training.
Went 1/31 with 4 friends - salesperson acted as though we were bothering him - said no one has been here all day then everyone comes at once ! Was rude when we asked him about getting coffee too. Other issue is over half of the items do not have prices on them - ? Won’t be going back :(
I was excited to finally try Tate’s Bakery given all the hype on social media, but honestly, it fell short of expectations. The space itself seems more like a spot people visit for the “photo-op” than for the actual food. The coffee was mediocre and the pastries weren’t anything special. I have several bakeries near my home that don’t get nearly as much attention but are easily ten times better in terms of flavor and quality. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but it didn’t live up to the hype — more style than substance.
I have been going to Tates in Southampton for over 40 years/ since it was Kathleen’s. No summer Hampton or Montauk trip was not complete with a shopping spree at Kathleen’s. Sadly today will be the very last I will ever go there. The girl behind the register was beyond rude to me. I am legally blind. Of course she could not know but even after I told her I have a problem seeing she was rude and very dismissive of my disability. I asked the girl helping me for the flavors of petite fours(please excuse my spelling) and the rude girl literally yelled at me the flavors are listed. I told her that I had a hard time seeing. I walked over and there were no flavors listed. She continued to yell at me across the store the top left corner. Again she was wrong they were the flavors for macaroons. I have never been treated so badly regarding my disability. First you should be kind to every customer. Second when I said I had an eye problem you should have shown more patient. Finally she should have apologized for her behavior and her mistake. It very sad to call out and embarrass someone’s disability. I hope someone reads this and speaks to the employees so that no one ever has to feel as I felt today.
Disgusting people. Disgusting kitchen. Went there for a repair in their kitchen. This place was the dirtiest place I've ever seen and I've seen plenty. Mouse and or rat droppings everywhere. Every time a customer would the leave place the workers would talk about them and make fun of them. Only after they were gone of course. Nobody even cared. I can't remember how many different types of insects there were buzzing around. You'd have to be desperate and foolish to spend your money in this filthy hole of a business. I'd rather eat an Oreo.
Regular customer here. Rude horrible worker. Had. 3 pound ESA dog in a bag and he kicked me out and refused to sell me a coffee which would have taken 1 minute. He never touched the ground. Zero class. He could have sold it to me at the outdoor table. Rude. Disgusting.
The last bag I bought was disappointing to say the least. it hardly had any chocolate chips and tasted anything but premium. their website says satisfaction Guaranteed but don't believe it. I called customer service and the woman argued with me and didn't refund or replace as their website suggests. I def do not recommend this plain overpriced cookie.
Normally I love their cookies, but I quickly picked a bag up and took it home, only to realize it had walnuts in it after I took a bite. My son is deathly allergic to tree nuts, it’s a good thing I didn’t feed it to him. Please change the color of the bag or make the label bigger. It looks too much like the regular chocolate chip bag. Thank you!
Love the food but the service was horrible. We came in at 3:50 to grab a bag at cookies and were immediately told very rudely by the staff that they were about to close in 10 minutes. We said we knew and would be fast but were still spoken so rude to by the staff. They were passive aggressively talking about us to each other. We were out by 3:54, it was all just so rude. Not a great atmosphere.
I have been going to Tate's for years. Always good. However I went the other day and the customer service has definitely gone downhill. It wasn't busy but I had to pursue someone to help me. There were plenty of people working but no one seemed interested in waiting on me. I ordered several items and when I asked for a bag to put them in, the rude girl behind the cash register, said she would have to charge me. I said for a paper bag??? They were sitting right there on the counter. She rudely informed me that those were only for pastries. For the prices they charge, I think a bag isn't a luxury. Will not be going back. hsomeone to help me. There were plenty of people working. I ordered several items and th
Coffees came out way out of order, waited for 20 minutes for a cold brew and iced latte. Baristas would rather have a chat than pump out the 18 pending orders. Then blame the customers when orders are wrong. Rude and sloppy. Stick to the cookies.
Service was terrible. The employees were so unhelpful and rude. When we arrive, they had no original cookies left.
They have changed the snickerdoodle. It's not large and flat anymore, it's small and thick, which makes it hard as rock. The good taste is no longer there. Will not buy again.
I would have given zero stars if I could. These are the most disgusting cookies I have ever eaten. Well, tried to eat. All I can taste is salt! When I bite into a cookie the last thing I want to taste is salt! Cookies are meant to be sweet not salty. I've tried the chocolate chip, the dark chocolate chip and the gingersnap cookies and all of them were extremely salty. This is the last time I will waste my money on cookies I can't even give away because anyone that I've offered them to takes one bite and spits them out! Don't waste your money people!!!
I came here growing up when it was Kathleen’s Cookies and the service had always been so great. Since turning the business over to new ownership, the service is the most unfriendly. No one smiles or makes you feel welcomed really. Still great food and cookies of course. Counter service desperately needs improvement.
I’ve given this place several chances, but I’m done. I went in for coffee and ordered a golden latte assuming it had espresso like any normal latte. After tasting it, I asked and was told there’s no coffee in it. No apology, no offer to remake it, just attitude like I should’ve known. This isn’t the first rude experience either. When I once asked if they had sandwiches, the response was “we don’t do that here”, with the same dismissiveness. The whole place has a cold and unfriendly feel. Not worth supporting.
I used to love the cookies! Not anymore.Just bought cookies and the raisins were so old I was chewing for long time. This are going down the drain! Waste of time and money.
very small store and little selection. they offered a homemade dubai chocolate chip cookie but no regular chocolate chip cookies which i thought was odd. i ordered an iced latte and half the cup was filled with milk & not mixed at all. it’s definitely cute on the outside but would not return
Worst alleged chocolate chip cookies in the history of cookies. If you respect a good cookie DO NOT BUY these machine made garbage cookies that offend the name.
These cookies are good, 8 per package, 2 packages of 4. However I bought 6 packages for Xmas at 2 different stores. Safeway and Giant, and kept then in my cool pantry. All the cookies were stuck together and I had to separate them with a knife, which ruined them. Package them better, like other cookies half the price do. What a ripoff.
Tried the soft baked chunk chocolate chip! Nice packaging but terrible cookie! Had all of my 3 kids try it without saying anything and they all spit it out! Didn't try any others but maybe they could be better! The worst cookie I've ever had
I ordered online and your forms are not programmed correctly. I entered recipients name and address with a message and paid for 2 day delivery. The form reverted back to my name and address and therefore my client never received the packages. I called and emailed customer service no one bothered to call me back or help supper the problem. Waste of $150 gift purchase horrible.
