Excellent food excellent service. My girlfriend and I had a lovely conversation with the waitress about places to visit in Portsmouth and her dreams to visit new York city one day. The sausage and black pudding were particularly delicious.

Delaneys serves the best breakfast I've had so far in Portsmouth which is available until 11.45. Lovely interior which makes it feel cosy. They also serve lunch and evening meals. Service was both friendly and efficient it's perfectly situated for a breakfast before going far walk to the sea front. Highly recommended

Very nice brunch cafe! The service is lovely, the girl was kind and helpful. The coffee is good and there is a great variety. The food is very tasty, the Halloumi plate is just the right amount of food and bit spicy. The pancakes are thin and soft. The english breakfast is delicious and a generous portion. I would definitely be back! Great work ⭐️

Fantastic new chef and evening bistro menu; choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts. I had perfectly seared scallops on a black pudding fritter, beautifully cooked succulent slow roast lamb on a delicious port gravy and a lovely chocolate ganache with bramble berry compote to finish 😋 All were perfectly prepared and served. Lovely atmosphere, service and excellent wine choice too

I’ve heard a lot about Delaneys and have been excited to try it out after the refurb! I came in today for Sunday lunch, I was greeted with lovely service from Maffi and Phoebe. I ordered a roast chicken but we had a range of the meats across our table! It was delectable, from the meat to the veg to the gravy! Every bite was delicious and everything was exploding with different flavours, which is good as I find sometimes roast can taste all the same, but this definitely wasn’t the case! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the roast dinner and we we’ll definitely be returning asap!

We've been visiting Portsmouth regularly for over 20 years and never been to delaneys before which was recommended to us recently. This has to be our new favourite place to eat when we are there. Well cooked and presented breakfasts, very friendly and efficient service and good value. What's not to like.

We stopped here for lunch today. Lovely café, friendly staff and good service. The food was good too. I had the smashed avocado on soughdough toast, my partner had the fish cakes. We also shared a bowl of chips, I'm really fussy about chips, these were lovely skin on chips.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. Honestly one of the bests roasts I’ve ever had!

What a surprise Gem! Group of 7 of us Looking for Sunday brunch we stumbled across this place. Brunch had finished but Sunday Roasts had just started. Oh MY It is probably one of the top roasts we've had, great variety of perfectly cooked veg, topped with tender meat , topped of with a perfect Yorkshire pudding. Thinking we'd hit the jackpot. We were delighted to then be given a side order of cauliflower cheese & extra pot of delicious gravy. Gutted that we don't live locally - we are about 90 mins drive, but We made the trip back last weekend (with a vegan in tow....his vegan Wellington was fab too) and enjoyed the same experience. Chef is delightful & rightly proud of his work! Aim to be back at the end of the month!

Stopped here for breakfast as it is dog friendly. I had the smoked salmon & scrambled eggs and the combination of flavours was divine. Lovely ambience to the place and friendly service. Will be back when we are next in Southsea

I wish I could keep adding Stars to this review! That is how wonderful Delaney's is. My cousin and I are traveling through England from the U.S. and our first morning in Portsmouth we found this gem! I had the Thai Fish Cakes which were thick and tasty. The desserts were excellent too. Our waitress was bubbly, friendly and helpful with places to visit while in Portsmouth. Everyone should try it out!!

A Fantastic visit to Delaney’s in Southsea! My wife and I recently visited Delaney’s in Southsea, and it was truly a standout experience. From the moment we walked in with our Black Lab, Ada, we felt incredibly welcome. Highlights of Our Visit: Warm Hospitality: The staff were exceptionally friendly. They didn't just "tolerate" our dog; they made a genuine fuss over Ada, which made us feel right at home. The Food: We both ordered the Eggs Royale, and it was superb. Perfectly poached eggs and a rich, flavorful sauce—easily some of the tastiest we’ve had in a long time. Atmosphere: The vibe is relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a weekend brunch or a mid-week treat. A Small Note for Fellow Dog Owners While the service was wonderful, it’s worth noting they didn’t have dog treats on hand during our visit. Since Ada is used to a little reward for her good behavior, we’ll make sure to bring our own pocket treats next time! Overall Verdict: It was a very pleasant visit from start to finish. We’ve already decided that this will be a regular spot for us. If you're looking for great food and a dog-friendly atmosphere in Southsea, Delaney’s is a must-visit. We will definitely be repeating this visit soon!

Been here over the time of 5 years a few times. Every time has been very good. Excellent food, drinks and service. Cheaper than hotels in area and probably best food in the area to be honest. We visit Portsmouth a lot and know many places well. This Is a favourite. Highly recommend

We booked a table for drinks for my friends Hen do and had a brilliant time! The cocktails were delicious, well priced and the atmosphere was great. We had some Nacho sharers which were just what we were looking for. All in all a wonderful evening and we will certainly be coming back, thank you!

My husband and I decided last minute to go for Sunday lunch and I had seen on my walks the Delaney's were doing Sunday Lunches. Whilst it's not a massive menu on Sunday there is something for everyone. Food was delicious, service good and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Enjoyed another visit to this amazing place today. Ordered the Avo Smash (my usual ‘go-to’ dish wherever I go) and it was the best I’ve ever had! Impeccably presented, fresh and tasty ingredients, and exactly the right proportions. I cannot recommend Delaneys highly enough, you HAVE to visit, and make this your ‘go-to’ place! Amazing food, service, venue and value. Thank you to all the staff for another fantastic lunch 👍👏 see you again very soon!

Lovely little dining place, service is always friendly, helpful and attentive. Variety of breakfasts and lunches are very good, as are the drinks. But my favourite is the Egg and Bacon sandwich which is always top quality with a pot or two of tea. Highly recommended!

Really nice little cafe, food is lovely, best breakfast I'd had in a long time, service is just as good as the food. Has nice decor and has a community feel when you walk in.

Staying nearby we went here for breakfast. There is seating inside and out. We enjoyed our breakfasts and will return when in the area. They are mostly open in the daytime but do some evenings so worth asking. This part of the road has been pedestrianised and there are some nice nearby shops.

We went for lunch here on my birthday last week. The first time we have been here and Sonny went over and above to be friendly. He gave me a glass of Prosecco, sang happy birthday and gave me a plate with brownies on and candles in. Absolutely overwhelmingly brilliant service. The food was amazing too. Cannot fault this little cafe and would most definitely recommend to my friends. We will be going back.

If I could give 6 stars I would!! Amazing customer service! Sonny went above and beyond. I was breast feeding my 5 month old and he offered me a blanket to be more comfortable. It was my mums birthday and they have her a glass of 🍾 and a plate with happy birthday written in chocolate with brownie pieces and some candles. Such a lovely touch! We took my 4 year old and slightly altered the menu y to what we asked for his taste. The food was delicious. Cannot recommend enough! Will be going back for a few cocktails when little one is weaned!!

Delaney’s is local to us and always a pleasure. We booked in for our Family/ small business Christmas party. They were really accommodating with our awkward wednesday tea time table request! The food was absolutely delicious, cocktails superb & staff super friendly and attentive. Thank you Belinda for accommodating us and Nikita & kitchen team for all your hard work and friendliness. We’ll be back soon I’m sure!

Lovely brunch with the family. Good sized portions and the eggs Benedict were beautiful. Lovely place to visit and will be back for sure. Only slight criticism was that they forgot the toast with the breakfasts but easily forgiven as the brekkies were lovely!!!

This is local to me as other sandwich joints are but I'll take the time to review it because it really does deserve 5 stars. They do breakfast and other stuff that I've not tried, but for a good choice of freshly made sandwiches that seem good value and very tasty it's hard to fault them. Very friendly staff and pleasant place to sit have a coffee/eat if you want to though for convenience I call ahead to have it made ready to collect. No wonder it's won a few awards.

Breakfast Review: Delaneys, Castle Road, Southsea. Arrived at 0930 just as it was opening and by 0945 it was filling up. Promptly given the menu and knew what I was going to order as I had checked it out online before leaving home. I opted for the Full Delaney with a Cup of Tea. 2 Bacon, 1 Snorker, half Grilled Tomato, 2 Fried Eggs, 1 Hash Brown, Pot of beans, Mushrooms and a round of white toast. Extra points for putting beans in a pot as I can’t get on with beans near egg All food was high quality especially the Snorker as I am fussy on mystery sticks as my dad called them Total Cost £12-50 , pricey yes but all very tasty The table next to me had Eggs Royale which looked amazing, I will definitely try that next time. Dog friendly and no screaming rug rats Shiny polished cutlery, big cup of tea Nice atmosphere and it seems a popular choice with the locals Possible venue for future breakfasts Delaneys Out of 5 stars Delaneys get 4

Visited this weekend to try their roast and was not disappointed. Really lovely! Tasted fresh and everything had flavour! To make it 5* a homemade Yorkie would have been nice, but I didn't mind really as it was a generous size and the dinner overall very enjoyable. Will pop by to try some other dishes 🙂

The venue is gorgeous and definitely has the right vibe for a lazy Sunday brunch. I had instant food envy as my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict which was ramped up with extras!! The coffee was good. I ordered the Avo Smash and was disappointed. The sourdough bread was tiny, the avocado was chopped not smashed which gives a very different texture and most importantly flavour. No seasoning or lemon juice. I also ordered the camembert wedges and they had run out of it😕 I would go back and try something else, and I will.

We visited for my fiancé’s birthday and were really looking forward to the Sunday lunch. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The menu online was completely different from what was available on the day. That in itself is fine, but it would have been helpful to be informed in advance or at least acknowledged when we arrived. I made it very clear to the waitress that I have an allergy to cheese and asked for it to be kept separate from the vegetables when serving. Despite this, the shared vegetable dish arrived with the cheese touching the greens and carrots. I reminded the team when it was served, and rather than handling it professionally, I could hear the chef complaining about me from the kitchen. That is simply not acceptable, particularly when it concerns an allergy. It made me feel uncomfortable and genuinely ruined the experience. To add to this, the food was not hot It was obvious some dishes had been left sitting on the hot plate while others were still being prepared instead of timing everything properly. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she did not really listen or offer any meaningful response. This was a shame as the flavours were good. It was meant to be a special meal for my partner’s birthday, but the lack of care, communication and professionalism really let it down. I would not expect this level of service, especially when dietary requirements are involved.

Food great. Fair prices. Service was good by one lady, awful by another. Visited x mas market down Castle Road and got lunch in delaneys, went back to buy mulled wine from inside and the black haired youngish lady serving was huffing and puffing (wasn’t too busy) and then said to my mum “just give me a minute” and “I haven’t had a cigarette since 9Am” it was 1.30PM. I’m sorry my mums service is not as enjoyable and your addictive habit. Everyone else seemed nice

I went for breakfast with my cousin on a Saturday. The staff was okay, I guess they were quite busy which explain the waiting times to get our orders. But it did take about an hour just to get two sets of veggie breakfast, which weren't very filling. Again, it could be that they were just busy but it still wasn't an experience we enjoyed.

This cafe has lovely decor. However it feels cramped unless you get one of the bigger tables towards the back. The floor bounces every time someone walks past you. Maybe some type of solid flooring would help with this. There was an electric heater under the table when we arrived. It was a cold day but basic health and safety applies here - someone drops their drink onto the heater?! The young member of staff commented that it was "just a heater". Clearly more training in health and safety and politeness is needed here. The male waiter was very polite Small mug of tea instead of a regular size or a pot. No toilet roll in the toilet so this needs checking more often. Reasonably priced food and a varied menu.

We had a very bad experience with the breakfast service. After our food order was taken we waited for an hour for our food to come. In that time only three plates left kitchen and one of them was a sandwich. I had the Halloumi Stack and the portion was very small and I was still hungry after eating it. Keep in mind that the food was not cheap, between £11 to £14. Next to our table was a small group of 5 people and their drinks were served one by one and last drink was served when we were leaving which is after over an hour. I hope we were just unlucky with the slow service and poor quality of food as this place seems to be like nice family place that locals adore.

Went there on Monday for lunch. The service was dreadfully slow, had nothing of note on the menu and it was expensive. It wasn’t even busy
