Nice place to go for a dinner with family or friends. I got the Lobster Bisque soup and their Sea Bass. The sea bass was soft and flaky. The soup was warm and delicious. Service was pleasant. If you visit Saint Augustine, this is a nice spot off of the main strip to enjoy dinner/drinks!
I want to start by saying Kateryna saved this entire experience! We happened upon the location after visiting the winery. It was pretty cool being 12/30/25 and it was getting late. Since we are visiting, we decided not to drive around and opted to try this location. We went to the host stand and there was a young lady and a young man there. They were looking a little down their noses at us, but whatever. I didn't see a dress code at the door. Again, it was cool outside that day, so I had on a long sleeve t-shirt and hubby had on his mossy oak pullover. We were asked if we had reservations, and we didn't, so the young lady said, there's room out in the patio. I'm like, it's cold - almost didn't get to finish my sentence and was told there are heaters out there. They're heaters didn't do to much, after I tested it. I came back indoors and was about to have my husband get our outwear from the car, when Kateryna came and told us there was an indoor table available, but would be needed at 6:50pm. It was nearly 5:30, so, plenty of time. THANK YOU, KATERYNA!!! Kateryna was attentive and quick to respond from the water all the way to the bill. Our food was wonderful! No room, sadly, for dessert. I can't help but wonder if it was the way we were dressed or that we were an interracial couple which prompted the hostess to immediately suggest outside. Either way, I'm glad Kateryna jumped in.
We went for my birthday and I will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu! Everything was great and food was even better. The Blood In The Water drink was delicious. The lobster bisque and ceviche were both Devine! I didnt like the duck personally but my husband loved the short ribs. My server was great and helpful with the menu. 5 stars all around.
La Cocina at the Cellar Upstairs (San Sebastian Winery) 10/10! Brought us in early before our reservation, the service and staff were amazing and the food was delicious and phenomenal! Lobster bisque, escargot, Chilean sea bass and shrimp pork belly tortellini was fantastic. Surprise birthday dessert to top it all off. After we enjoyed drinks outside with live music. Before dinner, we did the wine tour before hand to make a little date night out of it. Highly recommend!
Update: came back for a birthday dinner. It was tasty. The escargot was buttery. The Korean short ribs had more of a 5 spice flavor reminiscent of Chinese food. Definitely recommend The lunch menu had some good choices. The PBT club was very tasty. Cannot wait to try their dinner menu.
Delicious!! Norberto and his team continue to impress! The lobster bisque was delicious and still one of the best we have had. The Choripan sandwich was delicious and I could've put down two of them, my wife really enjoyed her turkey PBT as well. All of the food tastes delicious and fresh. Service was also top notch. A year ago Norberto and his team also catered our wedding, till this day it is still talked about and how amazing the food was. 5/5 Stars every time, highly recommend!
Sebastian & crew always do an amazing job. Lunch was absolutely spectacular the other day. Pictured is the shrimp & crab salad over greens & fresh avocado, as well as the shrimp & pork belly po boy! Absolutely amazing!
First time at the rooftop. They have a new craft cocktail menu with fresh pressed, locally-made mixers that are absolutely phenomenal. The Don Norberto is a poetic reference to Chef Norberto’s father, and a beautifully balanced and well crafted spin on the classic espressotini with an iconic marshmallow foam. Throw in a cheese board and it’s a day to remember for the girlies! Great chill spot before date night inside as well.
We made same-day reservations on a Wednesday and found plenty of availability. The restaurant offers a full dinner menu indoors, while the patio features a more limited selection. The lobster bisque was outstanding and an absolute must-try. The peri peri chicken was also excellent—while it could have been a bit crisper, the flavors were truly delicious. The service was generally good, but they didn’t come to refill our drinks until after we had finished eating, and I had to ask. The interior was clean and inviting, making for an overall pleasant experience.
During our visit from Maryland, we received a warm welcome, marked by friendly smiles and positive attitudes. The $5 tour and tasting proved to be an exceptional value, resulting in the purchase of six high-quality wines and a port. Our tour guide, DJ, provided outstanding service.
I absolutely loved this restaurant! The flavors were incredible, the atmosphere was elegant and calm, and the service was outstanding.
We decided to try this place, rather new addition to the winery downstairs. It's mainly Italian and American fare, I gotta tell you they hit it out of the park. I had pork belly which was a delight and had so many taste layers to it, it was quite the surprise. I also had tortellini, with pork belly and shrimp. And finished the bowl and I may have had to walk all the way back to the island to burn that off. Creamy, hearty, and comfort food....we'll done with the tortellini. Family enjoyed themselves, all compliments around the table.
We stopped for lunch while on the trolley tour and were very impressed. White linen tablecloths, black cloth napkins, and elegant decor set the tone. Karen greeted us and provided helpful, friendly input on the menu and checked on us with just the right amount of attention. Our sandwiches arrived on wooden platters and both had delicious and unique flavors. The potatoes were tasty. The outdoor dining area was under construction, but another time would be a good option.
What an amazing place. We made reservations the day before to make sure we got in. So incredible to get some first-rate sangrias and watch a beautiful sunset as we wait to be seated. When you start your evening off like that our expectations were high. They delivered perfectly. Started with a silky smooth lobster bisque that packed the flavor. Then we went with the escargot, not like you think of with butter and garlic. This one is in a rich mushroom cream sauce and just like the bisque off the hook flavor. For the entree we took down a half rack of New Zealand lamb chops. The perfect cook with a next level rosemary mint Demi-glacé that creates a phenomenal meal. If you’re looking for outstanding service, elevated flavorful food, and an astonishing evening out this is the spot. We come up here all the time and we will definitely be coming here again and you should too. ✌️😎
We finally made it to La Cocina last night, maybe the last of St Augustine’s high end restaurants that we had not enjoyed. We met friends there and had a great experience and will definitely be back! It is on the top floor of the San Sabastion winery and offers wonderful views of the river and downtown St Aug. While it’s location is a little off the regular St Aug beaten path, it does allow them to offer plenty of free parking. It is also certainly walkable from St George Street if you wish. We sat inside as it was still quite warm outside though we walked around the expansive patio area which looks like a great time and included an outside bar. Note that they do not offer liquor at this point but they have applied for a license. They have beer and wine plus several wine cocktails. Zach was our server and was both knowledgeable and attentive. I asked him what his favorite items on the menu and he did not just name the most expensive items on the menu. In fact, one of his choices was the cheapest entree. For drinks, my lovely wife chose a wine mojito while I elected for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from the winery downstairs. Both were solid. The food really stood out. I had the pear salad which was simply phenomenal….one of my favorite salads ever…. No exaggeration! My wife chose the ceviche and our friends chose the minorcan salad and charcuterie board….all were delightful. For entrees, I had the gambas which included several large and succulent shrimp with a wonderful array of mixed vegetables and a not too sweet purée. My wife elected for a second starter as her entree which was the pork belly. Our friends enjoyed the lamb chops and the chicken. Overall, I highly recommend La Cocina. It is a great combination of high end food with unmatched views of beautiful St Augustine.
What a great dinner with my wife. We went for our anniversary dinner while vacationing and it did not disappoint. The lobster bisque was delicious. Creamy and full of flavor. We also got the escargot and it was so good. My wife was a little skeptical but she was a fan as well. I got the sea bass and my wife got the lobster ravioli. Both were very pleased and the quinoa with the sea bass was a sneaky delicious side. Would absolutely recommend
I am amazed at not only the quality of the food but the service. It has been years since I have had the quality of food and service provided by an establishment. I will become a regular customer of this place moving forward.
Another St Augustine win! Above the Saint Sebastian Winery is this lovely eatery. You can dine outside beneath an umbrella weather permitting, under the canopy by the bar, or inside in the air conditioned dining room. You enter the building where you can partake in a free wine tasting tour, or make a hard left into the shop, another left to the elevator, and up to the restaurant. And many thanks to the lovely lady who was with her family but offered to take our picture -- we did not ask, she just kindly offered. So sweet. We arrived around opening time at 11:30 for an early lunch. The sparking punch was delightfully refreshing. Fortunately we ordered a pitcher. I'd say you would break even at three glasses, and everything you pour after that is a nice cost savings over "by the glass". We probably got about six decent glasses in total. Warning, it goes down easy. Food was awesome. We were starving and over-ordered as usual for us. Two wedge salads, one with a very lean and flavorful prosciutto. Excellent house made blue cheese. Half a datil dog - messy but so worth it! Very good. Served with awesome house made chips. Cheese platter with baguette - nice assortment, plenty of cheese, some dried fruit, olives, and more. Baked brie in an amazing raspberry port sauce. I don't love brie, but would make an exception for this tasty treat. House cut fries with an amazing beer cheese sauce, very cheesy with a nice little hint of spice at the end. Delicious. The service was spectacular, so friendly and courteous. Only disappointment is they were out of the grilled cheese sandwich, which the brie was substituted for as a second choice. We will definitely be back for an evening visit to sit, sip, and enjoy live music!
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was exceptional, with every plate freshly made to order by the chef, ensuring quality and flavor in each bite. I also enjoyed a refreshing draft beer that complemented the meal well. The location was convenient, adding to the overall experience. Definitely worth a visit!
La cocina at cellars of San Sebastián winery -Sorry no pics of foods but absolutely deliciousness ed had the chicken , salmon and filet mignon .charcuterie board and delicious wines ..desert chocolate ganache abd pans cota . Wonderful service . Love the new outside patio ty and baby grey performing on cellars patio was a bonus they are awesome !
My husband and I just had our anniversary dinner here. It was spectacular. The food, atmosphere and service were all absolutely amazing. Surpassed every expectation we both had. Our waiter timed our food perfectly and even brought us out a dessert to celebrate our anniversary. This was the best dinner out that we’ve both had in forever! We will definitely be returning again and again! This restaurant is a must!
Casual semi-upscale dining near Old StA. HIGHLY recommend the pulpo octopus, served in a heated sauceR...tender and exquisite flavours. Loved the ceviche, sangriaS, and Guava Mimosa. Tres Leches is TODIEFOR. Wine list is subpar, disappointing, but inexpensive. Lovely patio and dining room. Good service.
My wife and I stopped by here on our trip to St. Augustine and were absolutely blown away. We found a great wine (vintners red) this paired with the Italian sandwich or their soft pretzels with beer cheese is magnificent. We ended up coming back two more times during our vacation. The atmosphere is great and the rooftop view when the sun sets is an amazing experience. The fact it was a brisk 48 degrees with a heater was icing on the cake.
Katya was an excellent server. She offered perfect advice on choices based on her personal experiences. A great place to celebrate an anniversary! Update! We were so lucky to have Katya for our server again! What a wonderful dining experience to celebrate a birthday. Katya was on point with her recommendations and excellent service.
Such a wonderful evening! Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. I was having the Chilean seabass, so asked for a wine recommendation. The server brought a bottle of white wine and offered a taste, which I thought would be perfect paired with fish. The first course we had the lobster bisque, which was exquisite. Small pieces of lobster, silky texture, hint of sherry. Fabulous. Second course baked brie with toastini and strawberries. Third course was Chilean seabass. My dining partner had the filet mignon, medium rare. Both entrees were fantastic.
Service was exceptional. Food was exceptional. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the size of the place. It's very small and quaint. There are no view or anything to see. Also no bar or cocktails only wine .One thing that stands out for me and my husband is we always split things and most of the time places, no matter how expensive they are, usually just bring out one plate of food and if you ask sometimes they might bring an extra plate but this place actually served it split. He had a plate with the food on it and I had a plate with the food on it and it was very beautifully presented. There was no extra up charge.
It is difficult to express the joy I had tonight at La Cocina. The building is beautiful, the view from the terrace is so pleasant, the service is top notch. But the food...the ceviche was so unapologetically flavorful and citrusy, it made me smile. The octopus, so fresh and perfectly cooked. The Chilean seabass was so light and subtle, that I had no choice but to take my time with it, along with the house savignon blanc. I will be back to try their red meats and red wines. You can count on that. Thanks to Jorge for his excellent service and amazing conversation.
We came here for our anniversary on a Saturday night, after leaving another highly rated restaurant that was over capacity. We were blown away by the detailed dishes and flavor combinations. We ordered all 4 courses and wouldn't have changed a thing. We only wish we had room for more. Everything was more than we expected and service was 5 star! Muy bueno! We will be back again!
Very nice place, staff was friendly, I like that you can see the kitchen upon entering and exiting the restaurant, gives you a chance to thank the cooks for a wonderful meal. I had the blackened salmon Asian bowl for lunch and the salmon was cooked perfectly. It was a nice sized portion of salmon. Restaurant was quiet for lunch, and seems a missed opportunity for travellers and locals. Hotel guests must know about this gem. Prices were fair for what we got as well.
This is a hidden gem in St Augustine most of the restaurants don't meet the standard they have if they do their downtown at a ridiculous price point! The hostess many years in the restaurant industry and is well versed in food and wine!
Cute spot with a great ambiance, food was portioned well - you leave feeling full but not overly stuffed. Wide range of options! Javier was a great waiter, very attentive and explained the menu well with great suggestions. Ended up getting the pear salad - exceptional, the octopus was very tender but a bit fishy, the lamb, korean short rib (picture attached) and finished with the angel cake - delicious. Went at night but would definitely try to go around sunset to see the views! It's tucked away from the st augustine craziness but still close enough to the action
Excellent. Do the free tasting, then upgrade to the paid tasting and the end on the rooftop. Great wine selection and tapas. Rooftop is great for views and the staff is super friendly.
Norberto and Zoe, We can’t thank you enough for the wonderful welcome party for the kids wedding at La Cocina at the Cellar Upstairs! Everything was perfect—the food, drinks, music, ambiance, and the weather! Our guests were thoroughly impressed and shared their enthusiasm throughout the evening. It was the perfect way to kick off an unforgettable weekend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just Wow this was a very nice experience. Their nothing better than sharing appetizers and sangria with great friends and music at this scenic riff top restaurant. Perfect weather and fun fun fun.
Seriously the best Octopus I've ever had. Beautiful delicate short Rib ravioli. Always a great experience with absolutely the most delicious plates.
We happened upon this restaurant/bar purely by luck! Amazing evening with Erin and Nico at the bar this evening! We enjoyed a delicious charcuterie board, wine, & an amazing chocolate dessert that completed our night! Erin was amazing and made me WISH I was a local to be able to come here more often!! She sealed the deal with her awesome service that this place would definitely be on my list to return to on my next trip!
First off, this is a grownups resteraunt and I wouldn't bring children. The menu is gormet and the atmosphere is quiet dining in a small personal setting. I recommend the duck as many restaurants do not prepare it correctly. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the lamb. The house sangria is good too!
I took my boyfriend here at La Cocina for his birthday dinner while in St. Augustine. We had a fabulous time!! The atmosphere has nice and intimate, our server Javier was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient, all the courses were delicious, and there was a lovely flow to the meal. We couldn't have asked for a nicer experience.
We recently hosted our rehearsal dinner at La Cocina and the experience was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and taken care of. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and every detail was handled with professionalism and warmth. The food was exceptional—beautifully presented and full of flavor. Our guests were raving about the menu selections all evening. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion: elegant yet comfortable, creating a relaxed environment for family and friends to celebrate together. Special thanks to Zoe and the team for accommodating our requests and ensuring everything ran smoothly. It truly exceeded our expectations and made an important night even more memorable. We highly recommend for any special event!
The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The service was good. I appreciated the little thoughtful details, like putting our names on the reservation card. The food was good, especially the lobster biscuit! We had Seafood platter, shrimp itself was not tasty but the broth was good. The only downsides were that they didn’t offer custom drinks—for example, I ordered a martini with gin but was only given the standard drink menu—and the menu has changed, but the website hasn’t been updated.
We order octopus was a little tough, filet mignon taste good and was well cooked.
This is a restaurant part of San Sebastián Winery. It’s on the roof top of the building. We shared an amazing cheeseburger. It’s double patty made of short rib, chuck, & brisket! Wow! Served on a brioche bun. Can’t say enough about how good this burger tasted! Fries were seasoned just wright. Highly recommend! Sorry the pic is only half the burger- I snapped the pic after spitting it up. lol!
We were the only ones on the roof top and wanted to sit on the side of sunset. The manager said that side was closed. It would’ve cost them nothing to let us sit on the other side. So short sighted.. fries were good but very small serving for the price. Not worth the stop
I have been 3 x and the food was always good. Sunday we had a 12-30 and the place was empty --- no one else ever came. The restaurant had no more customers when we left after 2 pm. The attendants were all young and were helpful when water leaked from the A/C, we moved . 17 $ red whine was served iced cold...my guest was gracious , said it was good but disappointed in temperature. Not sure if I will return. Sorry
The food was good, the hospitality could be better. For the prices they charge you would think that a location such as this should have no problems offering condiments and putting their customers first. When I ordered one of their sandwiches I asked for a side of their Korean Barbecue with this. The waitress repeated my order with this side item and went to place my order. Once I received my meal, I noticed that it was missing the side of Barbecue sauce I ordered, so I asked for it only to hear that my only option was Keptchup. That’s not what I asked for. I asked what other options I had only to be told the reason was because the “kitchen only gives out sauce if the meal is included with it or if it is part of the meal.” So I was left with only having ketchup for a sandwich that does not mix well with Ketchup. For what the charge related to their portion sizes is already expensive. But to not include a simple condiment for a paying customer that they ORDERED is ridiculous.
Warning: Vegetarians are second class citizens at La Cocina at the Cellar Upstairs and their snobbish chef will treat you like a basement dweller. Their current chef refused to make a sandwich without the turkey deli meat which is like refusing to not remove onions, lettuce or tomato from a sandwich. Very disappointing since this same restaurant had previously made the same meatless sandwich for my vegetarian wife on two separate occasions. We won’t go back and if you have food restrictions or allergies, don’t waste your time with this snooty line cook.
Delightful staff. Awful food. Ridiculous prices for the quality. Ordered their signature shrimp dish, the duck, filet mignon and Brie appetizer. Only the steak was acceptable. The shrimp dish had an off taste. The Brie dish was nothing, and I've never had tougher duck. For the three of us with no alcohol, I paid $207. Never again. Never.
After securing a wine pairing dinner over 2 months ago, I was rudely cancelled because they booked bigger parties and obviously our $300 plus dinner was not worth our reservation. Horrible customer service. Obviously a dinner for 2 is not important to them. They couldn’t even accommodate moving us to a different location apart from said parties. We have been to the winery numerous times and are so very disappointed. Certainly will let all our friends know. Unacceptable and disappointing.
Third time was not a charm. I have eaten here twice and loved it. If you have any dietary restrictions or need to substitute anything this is not the place for you. Take or leave it on their very limited menu. This time the chef refused to modify a sandwich. I asked for the turkey to be taken off. They said no. In addition, it’s 35 out and we sat inside- and they have no heat. So giant bust. I won’t be back. The owners reply just confirms what I said in my review. Their menu is take it or leave it. The only other vegetarian options are salad and fries....
From the moment we arrived everything went south. We had a Christmas party of 20 people reserved they tried to charge us $20 in the parking lot. When we got inside told us we couldn't be seated until 7:00 they would do the best they could and we had an electric vehicle reserved to do nights of Lights at 7. After they finally got us seated because all of us complained we had reservations they assigned a waitress to our table that was new she didn't write everyone's orders down in order and when they brought the food out they had no idea who is getting what out of the 20 people. We had to wait almost 30 minutes just to get our appetizers and by the time we got our dinner which they kept screwing up repeatedly it was an hour after we were seated. Some of us got our appetizers while others had to wait 20 more minutes and some of us got dinner before appetizers and some of us didn't even get the appetizers we ordered it all before dinner came. It was a train wreck from the get-go and it just kept getting worse!! Didn't know who got what wine who got what drink who got what desert it just kept going on and on and on! If you have a party group absolutely don't come here. And on that note, the food wasn't even that great. Maybe one thing out of five people's orders was good. And stop talk to each other in Spanish most didn't understand English! There's absolutely no reason why you should be having people doing customer service waitress jobs that can't speak English or understand it well. This is St Augustine not Orlando! Waste of time and money.
