Look at these drinks! Would you just look at them! Super friendly bar tender who obviously wants you to be amazed with his art in a glass. Make sure to stroll through the hallways to look at more art while you're here.

We really enjoyed the rooftop breakfast. Ellis, the sole server was amazing! Great views as well!

I truly don’t understand why this place has such mixed reviews. Between the service, the food, and the vibes this place was a knock out. Not even mentioning it’s a hop skip and a jump away from the Fox. Our evening started with the surprise of lifetime by being surprised with a private room for dinner after our waitress had seen we were out of towners on a girls trip here seeing a show. Audrianna truly made our experience a 10/10. From start to finish she made everything perfect. Between the four of us we ordered a little bit of everything and it all was stellar!! We got steak, tofu, chicken, and spinach artichoke dip. Every single one of us finished our plates. I would recommend booking an early reservation if you’re there on a show night as it does get a little backed up. We booked ours for 5:15 and were finished around 6:45.

This menu is Fabulous! They have lots of adventurous variety that is not often seen in St. Louis. We loved everything, trying something new pays off here. The muscles, seafood entre & the steak was perfect! Cocktails were well balanced & easily enjoyed. We can't wait to come back & try the rest of the menu

Divine. I was greeted promptly and warmly. I asked my waiter Mark for suggestions and he had excellent ones- I’m so glad I listened. I ordered the Pork Belly appetizer, the Chicken Schnitzel entree, and the Chocolate Pot de Crème for dessert. I don’t remember the name of my drink but it has egg white and gin. It was also extremely delicious! The free bread with truffle butter is also not to be missed- I ate 2 plates. All the food was excellent and my waiter was wonderful. He always seemed to appear at just the right time. I was cared for without being loomed over. He’s in my Top 5 of waitstaff. More than anything this experience was restful and healing for me. I had an awful week and was driving back to Texas from a funeral when I stopped in here. The manager and Mark were particularly and especially kind, and I will never forget it. I can’t say enough how delightful this experience was. Please hustle over and enjoy your time here!

The Vadouvan Chicken Curry is easily one of the best dishes I've had in St Louis... worthy of that kind of obsession leading to future trips downtown. Bamboo rice... kinda grassy and fragrant green with a nice yellow curry and perfectly done chicken. I can't wait to try more offerings from this place. I asked the waiter for his favorite dish and was directed to the chicken. Though another later told me his fave was the elk (yes!) and someone else told me the scallops... eager to try more. A lovely interior and great location too.

Commonwealth is AMAZING! From the food, the service, and the overall vibes, THIS is the place to go for a great meal. You have to try their grand burger which is honestly the best burger I’ve ever had, and they have excellent other items on the menu. The staff was excellent and very attentive, and the place has a nice and calming atmosphere. I don’t know why they are rated lower than they should be. This is a 5-Star place

We had a quick drink here and it was awesome. Chris and Amanda behind the bar were fun to talk to and made a fantastic Old Fashioned. The other surprising and awesome thing... We stopped by in June, so with that being pride month, they had pride flags in their whiskey ice cubes. Nice touch!!!

Commonwealth is a great little spot right between Powell Hall and the Fabulous Fox. We had a lovely dinner before BeetleJuice on a Friday night. The food and drink menu was limited but executed splendidly. We will return.

I stopped here with a friend after leaving Delmar Loop. The shrimp and grits were amazing, as was the salmon. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is great. The restrooms were clean, great experience all around.

Incredible!!! Love the atmosphere and people! Came on my wife’s birthday and everyone was so caring and thoughtful! Our waitress, Madison, crush it and the hostess, Shelby, are just wonderful humans! The Chef’s special (Irish Trout) and iron skillet scallops changed our lives. If you don’t come here you are robbing yourself of joy.

Excellent selection of drinks and fine spirits. The mixologist was skilled and provided some delicious cocktails. It was a good experience to end our night out.

The food was amazing! My friend and I came in to St Louis to see Hamilton and stopped here before the show. The waitress we had was the best part! She was so kind and explained everything to us so thoroughly. Her name was Madison and she was so kind!

Spend an evening at this bar and enjoyed a few glasses of wine and some superb appetizers. Our server Courtney possessed an impressive knowledge of the menu and her recommendations were spot on. After an in depth conversation of the sourcing for the menu, the chef came out to introduce himself and provide some additional background to the menu choices. Looking at the reviews by some people that have been posted, they are not justified as this is a must stop. Great job all around.

Ariel was our server. We had 2 Grand Burgers, both cooked to perfection. And it’s something about that Bacon Jam that made the burger nice and juicy but sweet! This was our 2nd time eating here!! We will definitely be back!! Ariel provided magnificent service as well!!

Wow. What an experience. I got the pheasant and my mother got the curry chicken and each bite was more exquisite than the last. Our server, Shelby, not only had an extensive knowledge of both the wine and the food, but also a personality that brightened the spirits of every table around us. Almost even more impressive was her attentiveness and etiquette. Anticipating our needs before we knew we had them. There was never a moment at the table where we needed anything that wasn’t in front of us. With so much of the service industry sliding downhill post Covid, it can be hard to find a true fine dining experience. What a breath of fresh air it was to dine in her care at the Commonwealth. Make sure to get a drink with Courtney at the bar after your meal as well. delicious cocktails and great conversation.

Went for our 4 year anniversary. 1st of all, the valet parking was seemless. 2nd, the Angad Arts Hotel is totally re-done and beautiful inside and out. There is interactive and giant sized art, as well as art for sale all throughout (including over the tables in the restaurant). 3rdly, The restaurant itself has big, bold colors and big geometric patterns and possibly one of the biggest round mirrors I've ever seen in my life. The tables are all set for fine dining, I would guess there are maybe 25 or 30 tables plus a bar. My husband made arrangements before we arrived to have a tablecloth set down, and a bottle of.chilled champagne waiting for us. The Executive Chef went out that day and bought roses for my table- red roses with 1 yellow rose since my husband mentioned that yellow were my favorite. I'm blown away that the chef would do that. We also had several appetizers, which were amazing- I loved the baked Brie! I had the lamb- it was cooked perfectly and the serving size was such that I finished my plate and was super full, but certainly not uncomfortable because they allow time to rest between courses. The server (Anthony) went above and beyond making us feel welcome and he treated us like true royalty. The Starry Night signature dessert had me giddy. Thy take 4 days EACH to make the little beautiful globes and you can taste the love. What a gorgeous, decadent dessert. I will be frequenting this little French restaurant as often as I can. Despite the formal, upscale atmosphere, it was an inviting space and I was very comfortable in my evening gown.

We did not have reservations (though I would still always recommend to have) and we popped in with a group of 6 before going to see a musical at the fox and they were so kind and accommodating. The atmosphere is just stunning. The wait staff were all so kind. The food was just incredible. We live about an hour and a half away and I’m telling you I would make the drive again just to come here. It was amazing! I would also add that I think it was very reasonably priced for what you get. I personally would pay more if they told me to!

My wife and I went here before going to a show at the Fabulous Fox Theater. The show was at 7:30 and our reservation was at 5:30, which worked out perfectly. The food was very very good and delicious. It was beautifully presented as well. My wife had the duck breast and I had the pheasant. The flavors hit all four corners of the mouth and were unique in a "my mouth can't believe it's never enjoyed this great flavor before" sort of way!

Lovely dinner and great atmosphere on a Friday night before a show at the Fox Theater. Ordered the main course duck and a salad with chicken breast, and a couple of drinks. The duck here is fantastic, and best chicken I’ve had in a while! Duck can be really gross when not done right. I’m a foodie and this was great! Food came out timely. Service is impeccable. Everyone is courteous. Christoper at the bar was serving our table and was absolutely great! Can make drinks off the menu in a split second and adopt them to your liking. I loved the decor of the restaurant… Art Deco/ mid century modern.

On November 15, 2025, I had an amazing dining experience. Dinner was absolutely delicious! I ordered the seafood ravioli, and let me tell you—this dish was extremely delicious. Our table also ordered the lamb chops and the salmon, and everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Chef Brian came out personally, and we had the pleasure of thanking him for the time, care, and patience he put into our meals. The flavors spoke for themselves. I also want to shout out our server—I didn’t catch her name, but she had pink hair. She was fun, attentive, and very professional throughout the entire evening. Overall, this was a great experience, and I will definitely be back!

The reviews don’t do this place justice. We have been here for dinner twice. Each time the food has been delicious and the service has been excellent. Cocktails were fabulous as well ✨ definitely recommend.

Raving Review for Commonwealth While visiting St. Louis from out of town, we stumbled upon Commonwealth and decided to give it a try—not knowing what to expect. Let me just say, this turned out to be one of the culinary highlights of our trip! My entire family, including our two kids (ages 11 and 13), absolutely loved the experience. The cuisine was exceptional, and we all found ourselves tasting each other’s meals because everything was that good. The Roasted Chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, bursting with flavor in every bite. The steak was cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection. And the Reggiano Chicken? A unanimous hit that had everyone at the table raving. We started with the spinach dip and bread, and I have to say—it was the best I have ever had anywhere. Creamy, flavorful, and paired with perfectly toasted bread, it set the tone for an unforgettable meal. What really elevated the evening was the service. Our waitress, Audrey, was an absolute dream. She was warm, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make our experience special. Her wine pairing suggestions perfectly complemented our meals, and her dessert recommendations were spot on. As if that wasn’t enough, we even had the pleasure of meeting Chef Lauren after our meal. She was so personable and down-to-earth, taking the time to chat with us and making the whole evening feel extra special. Dining at Commonwealth was a truly decadent experience from start to finish. Whether you’re a local or just visiting the St. Louis area like us, I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!

My friends took me to dinner here at Commonwealth at the Angad Hotel and the drinks were so good and crafted. I had a Fiji 75 which is the restaurant version of a French 75. For dinner I had the jerked lamb chops served med and this was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service was great as well and I will be coming again to this restaurant, they had so many options to select from. I love that this is in midtown and if you're going to the Fox Theater, Sun Theater, The Dark Room or any other places in the area go to Commonwealth during your outing. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem.

First and foremost, the bartender is an artist. They know how to make an amazing campfire old fashioned, and the espresso martini was delightful. Our server, Makayla, was a delight and very hard working. The chicken was decent but the steak was superb! The chocolate cake was clearly a box cake, but presented well. Overall, great dinner before a show at the Fox!

Went for dinner on a Friday night when there was a show at the Fox and the symphony. Interesting and inventive cocktail menu but the one I got with carrot juice and ginger just didn’t work. They were out of the app we wanted and we settled for some oysters at $4 per oyster they were overpriced for what they were. The entire menu looked promising but was a mixed bag. The duck was delicious but the short rib missed the mark. The starry night dessert was stellar and went well with a glass of red wine. Check your bill, our cocktails did not match the price on the menu but our friendly waiter corrected it without issue. Overall the experience was ok but nothing special and not worth the price point.

Standard fare with a spin. Though, dessert choices were basic. Service was excellent. Take 10-15 mins to walk around and look at the artwork.

Great restaurant reslly close to the fox. Only reason it's a 4 star not 5 is because of the Fox. The waitress asked if we were going to the "show". No, we aren't. Didn't receive any of our order till all the other peoples tickets was cleared . If you come here the honey jalapeños bisque is a must get. Not spicy, not sweet yet you get all the flavors of both. Truly an amazing dish . I would come back here just for this. We ordered multiple appetizers to get a feel for the menu . Wanted to try the foie Gras because I have never tried it. Good but nothing exceptional. The duck confit was ok. The whipped polenta had a different texture to them . I ordered lamb chops for my entree. Cooked perfectly. The desserts were excellent also. The cheesecake with cocoa nibbles was superb. They are known for their starry night dessert . It was amazing also I would definitely come back here again but next time "I'm going to the show" as well so we don't sit for 3 hours

[Update: They fixed the lighting! Much better vibe. And when I asked about it the server said "oh did you write that review?", so cheers to them for paying attention!] Been here multiple times. Single biggest negative, for date nights, the lighting is *terrible*! Super bright, cold flourescent and LED lighting that feels like you're in a dentist's office. I talked to the bartender at the rooftop bar (which has good lighting, as does the upstairs lobby area), and he told me that the staff down there can't figure out the dimmers. Fix that, folks. Beyond that, noise levels are high (big open space) and staff has been very chaotic every time (multiple servers stepping over each other, host/hostess AWOL), but friendly. Food is actually far better than the vibe, good plating, everything to temperature and as described, scallops were fresh and great, steak as well. Not many walkable options for gallery nights or the Fox, so I recommend for convenience but they need to fix the lighting and noise level (add some acoustic tile).

We personally had a great experience at this establishment. We stayed at the hotel and decided to have dinner before our show. The hostess was one of lovest people we have ever encountered. Our server was super sweet and provided excellent service. It was Friday night, so the food did take a while. We enjoyed a beverage and had a nice conversation with a couple sitting next to us. When the food arrived, we were definitely not disappointed. Our steak was cooked perfectly with great flavor. The fish and chips were what you would expect. I would likely go for the grilled fish next time. All and all a good experience.

The food is good, not spectacular, but well composed and good quality of ingredients. We had dinner before a show and then breakfast the next day. Dinner plates were well plated and everything was good, the spinach artichoke dip which I was not excited about my wife ordering was spectacular, rich and creamy with lightly toasted baguette, not too hard or too soft. Breakfast was good, not a huge menu but plenty of options, again everything was well composed and well plated with good flavors. I would eat here again and probably will as this is a great location for either the symphony or shows at the fox. One thing I liked was that they have a dinner salad option with quick easy add a protein options if you just want something lighter yet still filling. I didnt try a salad on this visit but certainly will in the future. The staff was friendly, not anything to stick out but certainly appropriate. The atmosphere was nothing to be impressed with. My wife said it looked like a diner and it was a very noisy room as there is really nothing soft to absorb any of the noise. The beer selection both here and at the hotel bar is pretty abysmal but the bartenders make mixed drinks quite well. Dinner for two was almost $200 with tip and breakfast for two was $50. I though the pricing was fair.

Charming place. I had the seafood ravioli and absolutely delicious truffle fries. Service was wonderful; we loved our server Audrey. She was very welcoming and accommodated for our large group very well.

When I walked in there was no one at the entrance. I waited while three people looked and me and kept on going. I had a 730 reservation so I didn't want to miss out on my time slot. I walked to a guy who was standing at a register to ask if I was standing at the correct entrance. He was nice and introduced himself as the hostess. He got my name and went to prepare my table while I waited for the three other ppl in my party. I think they may be short-staffed because the wait was long for pretty much every step from the waitress coming over, to ordering food and drinks, and getting entree. I think it would have been a better experience had we not come in after a rush. They were out of the menu items I wanted to try as well. The free glass of champagne and dessert is what saved the dinner for my group. I'd like to visit at a different time because I honestly believe it could be better. They were doing their best so it didn't seem like the service was intentionally poor or slow. If I'm going to have a 400 dollar bill, the service/experience has to make me not regret it. Instead, I feel like I should have gone somewhere else. They only gave us free champagne because it was my birthday and my mom's graduation. It was still a bummer with what we were celebrating.

Have to say, it was a relatively "meh" experience. (Please understand my precursor being that I was a restaurant employee for 7 years) I stayed in the Angad Arts Hotel (Thursday night) for a show at the Fox, and dined here for dinner after having eaten here precovid on my last trip. Was happily surprised to see a new restaurant had moved in, as I enjoy trying new restaurants. I came from the hotel entrance rather than from outside and was greeted with stares by the staff. I looked around for a second before finding the hostess stand by the doors and made my way over. The hostess left me at the door while she got my table ready (pouring the water and setting out the menu). I did not have a reservation, but knowing it was a Thursday at 5pm, I was not too worried about this, and the restaurant was empty except for one at the bar and one seated. I was seated right next to the hostess stand at one of the small tables and left with the menus. My server came over shortly after, not directly asking me what I wanted to drink but "Are you fine with water?" Which was an odd way of asking if I wanted anything from the drink menu, but whatever. Probably just the first table of the night for her, had to get into the groove, been there. Ordered a Peach Fuzz and was left with the menus. At some point the other silverware was taken away from the table. The bartender delivered my drink, it was highly watered down, I noticed she made all tin shaken drinks be shaken an excessive 30 seconds. Taste was fine beyond watered down. Server took my order, decided on the pheasant. I did not see my server again until the food delivery, which was rather prompt (as previously stated the restaurant was rather empty). During my time waiting for my food I noticed the hostess full on staring at me several times, I explained it off as she was looking at the wall behind me. The food was fine, the breast had a crisp outside, moist and sweet. The 4 asparagus spears were thin and extremely crispy, like they had been burned in the pan. During my dinner I finished my drink and placed it on the opposite side of the table, hoping that my server would either come take it and ask if I'd like another. Which I was hoping to order another drink, a nice white wine to sip on. Unfortunately my meal was complete and silverware stacked on the plate before she appeared again. I was not offered the dessert menu, which I was looking forward to trying something, but if it's not offered I'm not going out of my way to ask for it. Of course the check was promptly dropped and picked up. Overall the experience was fine. Meh. The restaurant was in no way busy to have had as little interaction with my server and the staff as I did. The food was overpriced, but to be expected with a hotel restaurant so it didn't phase me too much. $32 Pheasant. $13 Drink. $50 tab. $60 total.

The service was friendly at this restaurant. And it was not busy so the food was out quickly.

I eat here often as it's convenient when attending events at The Fox. Service is ok, food is typically good, but I was so disappointed with the Cornish Hen. Menu states Cornish Hen, but I only got a leg and thigh of a Cornish Hen, which is barely enough to feed my cat. They should update the menu to say 1/4 of a Hen is served. Go with the salmon and skip the hen.

Good service, and nice atmosphere. The 3 star review is in comparison to the standards of other fine dining restaurants. Soups were disappointing - French onion, and potato both. Otherwise would have bumped up to 4 star review. Appetizer, entrees, desserts, and drinks were all tasty; no complaints there!

P
Patrice Clements

Mediocre at best. Went before a performance at the symphony and had high hopes for this restaurant as the hotel itself is divine. The young gentleman who seated us had impeccable manners, wore a mask, and was enthusiastic about our visit. If I could base my review on him alone it would have been 5 stars. There were only 4 other tables seated so I thought that was a guarantee for exceptional service. Not the case. Our server was sloppy, unkempt, & clearly had no fine dining service experience. She gave zero recommendations, didn’t bring out a pour of the wine we ordered for tasting, and another server had to find her for our check when it was time to leave. I feel this wasn’t an error on her part, but the person who failed to train and mentor her properly. We began with the cheese plate which included 2 slices of dried apricot, 1 dried fig cut into 3 tiny pieces, 2 raspberries, cheese that was poorly cut, a smear of something pale yellow (a honey per the menu but it was sweet more like white chocolate) and 5 toast points. The salad was the star of the evening🥱 (yawn) ALL underwhelming for the price. I left most of the cheese plate behind. Gorgeous venue, but I won’t be in a hurry to return.

This was our first visit, and from reading reviews, it seems to be a bit hit or miss on what experience you have. Ours was a miss. The good parts that earned the 3rd star: it's quiet and it's easy to converse with people at your table, which is a huge plus for me. The staff we encountered were very friendly. The food and drinks were very tasty. The cocktails were also very pretty in addition to being tasty. They gave us a free slice of cake because we were celebrating a birthday, which was really kind. The parts that kept this from a 5 star experience: We were seated (had a reservation) on the hour and the food appeared 40 minutes later. The appetizer we ordered when we ordered drinks had been forgotten, and when we enquired after it about 20 minutes in, the server said it was on it's way. Spoiler alert: it was not and never showed up. The entrees were delicious, but the side serving of pasta was quite scant. It's pasta, the cheapest thing in the world, you can be generous with the portion. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a free dessert with a choice of 3 different cake slices. The one we chose was out, but that wasn't relayed to us until a different cake came out and was set on the table. We were told, oh, we brought this out because we were out of the other. Now, we appreciated the kindness of free cake when they didn't have to do anything at all, but the gesture def felt like "here, be happy with whatever we give you!" because we would have chosen the 3rd option rather than the one chosen for us. So, that kind of tainted what could have been really kind, esp after forgetting our appetizer and the long wait for any food. At no point did a manager come by to check on us, which esp after the lost appetizer and extremely long wait for food, also felt like a miss. That's just a normal thing to have happen at most nice restaurants, even when e erything goes well. The bill was on the high side for the experience we had. We may try again some day and see how nice it can be on a good day. We had planned to hit the rooftop bar after seeing the show at the Fox but decided against it based on this experience.

I ate there for dinner and breakfast and was completely underwhelmed both times. Sausage was dry, French toast tasted like insulation with store bought chemical syrup. The Caribbean jerk lamb was good, but didn’t have a jerk taste. It was cooked really well, though and had good flavor, but the rest was meh. Great atmosphere with a lot of art and super close the the fox. I might try it again, but there are other nearby restaurants that are probably a lot better.

The place was elegant, but due to our comfy clothes we was discriminated against. Like they assumed we would t tip hood. We woke up at the hotel, threw on sweats and went for breakfast. The service was terrible and quite disrespectful in the manner they treated us. Bare communication when dealing with us or eye contact. Once we got our food they asked how it all was when we almost finished our meal. And never once gave us a refill. Or refilled our coffees. Everyone one else was dressed nice and urban and they was treated and conversed with like customers should. We was not. I Do not recommend. I will never go back. My GF was a server for a long time. So it was obvious the reason for our treatment to her. And since she was a server before we always treat our waiters and waitresses with respect and tip $20 min and more usually for good service. Terrible representation for the restaurant. There’s a reason it’s got such a low rating.

The chicken curry rice was over-salted very badly, to the point of being inedible and there was too much of the curry sauce itself for the amount of rice and chicken. The curry and the chicken were both good. They just failed on the rice. The Filet Mignon was adequate, not bad, just nothing worth the price. Likewise the cheese plate was okay but not $21 worth of flavor or quantity. The server couldn't even tell us what kinds of cheeses they were. For $50 per person plus tip for a meal I just expected slightly better.

A
Antonina Gerassimova

Commonwealth salad lists orange glazed pecans and kale and none of those ingredients were present in it. A $30 sort of salty dish with grits and sauce had only 4 (four) medium sized shrimp . Totally overpriced and not worth the money. The wine was fine, the service was ok, the only thing that makes the place appealing is the location- walking distance from key venues on Grand Blvd. That’s it.

Don’t let this place fool you! It is absolutely trash with servers who pretend not to notice it’s trash!! We stayed at the Angad hotel and I had paid for breakfast during my booking so they gave us two tickets for breakfast when we checked in. We went down there and the menu was pretty small.. I decided to go with the avocado toast with a side of salmon and side of bacon. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy and she seem to enjoy them, but my avocado toast was the worst I’ve ever seen.. first the description on it sound really appealing and maybe it’s something more on the clean side so I gave it a try. They drizzled some type of vinaigrette all over it and just ruined it! I am not a fan of vinaigrette at all! But the fact that this wasn’t listen on the menu in the description of the food was really disappointing. I tried to work around it and I’m doing so I realized that they had only put not even half an avocado on the toast.. and put the egg in the center rather than covering the whole “avocado” toast with avocado then placing the egg on top. Not only that but the egg was poached and it was supper wet! They didn’t dry it after poaching it so when I went to pick up the toast it was so soggy.. so disappointing and I was so hungry already.. I picked up the bacon because eat this point I can’t make this avocado toast work anymore.. and the bacon is so over cooked.. not even crunchy just over cooked that it breaks when I pick it up.. so I just ate the salmon.. so defeating.. When the server came by and asked if I wanted a Togo container I said absolutely not and she didn’t bother to ask me what was wrong with it or offer my something else.. she just took it and left. Such lack of care for Their customers. Don’t come here no matter how appealing it looks to you.. this was truly a bad experience for me..

While staying at the Angad Hotel we attended the Fox Theatre and returned for drinks at the Commonwealth. I ordered the charcuterie board and we sat at the bar. The bar staff was wonderful and our drinks we excellent. We enjoyed lively conversation and the bartender shared fresh blue cheese stuffed olives to accompany my Bloody Mary. Fun! Then the ver sad and unpleasant charcuterie plant arrived . My 3 year old grandson found have done better. The cheese was dry and old and there were no apricots on the plate at all. 4 tiny pieces of cheese a smear of honey, no toasted bread or crackers and no salami . The cost was more than $15. For what they want the restaurant to be and the clientele they wish to appeal to, they should do more quality control. Our dinner and breakfast were quite disappointing as well. St. Louis is such a disappointment compared to Chicago restaurants.

Ate breakfast at the Commonwealth. Waited 40 minutes for biscuits and gravy & french toast only to be informed that they were sold out of biscuits and gravy. My table had to share a single entre of french toast and two sausage links. Staff was only minimally apologetic and did offer a discount - but had they informed us that the biscuits and gravy were sold out immediately, we could have placed a different order or gone to another restaurant.

A shocking experience top to bottom. Waited 15 minutes for our server to come take our drink orders, so we eventually got up and went to the bar where we were told “there’s a lot of people ahead of you.” Waited another 15 minutes for a bottle of wine to arrive, and our cocktails (ordered at the same time) didn’t arrive for another 10 minutes post the wine. At this point, we realized there was no way we were going to be able to order food prior to the show we were going to at the Fox, the service was way too slow. When we told our server we didn’t have time to eat and needed the check, because we were going to a show, she indicated that “everyone else here is too” - as if it was our fault that we booked a meal ahead of a show. You’re literally across the street from a concert venue - take notes from Cyrano’s for how to accommodate a theater rush! Her attitude immediately miffed us all - a straightforward apology without the side of sass would’ve been fine. As we are preparing to leave she then comes back to report that they ran the wrong check, and we had to wait while that was sorted out. No offer to comp our drinks that arrived 40-45 minutes into our dining experience. The table beside us were also very irritated with their experience as well. It’s a shame because the mussels that we ordered as a starter were delicious. But this was one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

The second time there, first was not good, this was worse if possible! First asked for a different table as we were sat at a booth, specifically didn’t want a booth, asked if we could sit at another table or booth. They were all reserved, problem is when we left none of those tables were seated? Second, the so called waitress didn’t show up till the whole party had arrived, quickly explained specials, then wanted our order, hadn’t even asked for a drink order, third, ordered the seafood-less ravioli, no seafood but 2-3 blackened shrimp on top of some overly salted greens, I don’t like blackened food, don’t remember it being on the menu, not sure! And it cost like $32.00, bad!! It was so bad! And the fox wasn’t open last night so they weren’t busy! Well commonwealth needs to get a grip on there establishment, because the only way they survive is off the poor people who come down to the fox or Powell hall for their shows. Never again! There was 6 of us, add that up by their prices and it’s was a total disaster of a restaurant.
