Ate here with friends for brunch, reservations are definitely recommended! I ordered the Bacon Benedict sandwich which was delicious with a perfect english muffin and the fruit felt so fresh as well. Easy serving size for brunch and I wasn't taking home any leftovers! My friend got the salmon avocado toast which looked amazing. I feel a lot of people have heard of how good Stone Turtle is and you should definitely take the time to check it out!
Great atmosphere small menu, but enough of a variety. Good drink selection also. Highly recommend
Stone turtle was an extremely wonderful find within walking distance of the St Louis zoo. The tiger rolls were perfect, and the wild caught bass was seasoned wonderfully. The drinks were fun and the socialista offered several layers of great flavor. Dessert was decadent as it should be. This was definitely one of the best dining spots we've been to in a year. Do make a reservation and definitely stop in.
The food is amazing. Everything in the menu is sooo good. The omelet, chicken and waffle, Tiger rolls, literally EVERYTHING. the service is great. Always diverse customers. It’s family friendly and also great for a girls day.
Great location near the Zoo in Dogtown. The Brisket dip was excellent. It is way too much food. Excellent French fries. The drinks were unique and tasty. The omelets are great to, try either.
First time dining in here. Overall, great experience! Our waitress, Genesis, was awesome! The food was equally awesome. We had the portabella croutons, mango habanero wings (came from a giant chicken) fondue appetizer (for my wife's meal) and I had their burger. Will be back to try the rest! There were quite a few entrees of interest.
What a fun dining experience! First, our server, Genesis, was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive and also knew when to give space, knowledable about the food and drink menu, and never missed a beat in getting food our or drinks refilled. The food was delicious- both the oub snacks and entrees. Also, if you are not drinking make sure to ask about their off menu NA mocktails! P. S. Keep an eye out for their signature 🐢 in some of the drinks!
We've been here several times, and never had a bad experience, whether it be for brunch or dinner. Super awesome staff, and most importantly, they're fun. The food is spectacular. Tried the brisket dip tonight, and it's awesome. We also had the Tiger Rolls, and they're really good, too. My wife loved the fish and chips. Definitely a great place!
A must try! Stopped in with some work colleagues an we were not disappointed from the moment we got there till we left. Service was amazing, our waitress was on top of everything. Had a vast knowledge about the beers they sold. No the food was amazing. I had the porkchop an let me tell you this thing was the size of a rib eye steak. I almost ordered another one. It’s a small cozy restaurant for just any type of occasion you’re having. I will be revisiting
Great service. Somewhat loud interior with little sound dampening. Was very friendly service and willing to work around allergies and dietary restrictions. They even had a Gluten-free dessert on the dessert menu that was not the typical brownie or ice cream that most places default to.
The service was superb. The food was very tasty while the drinks where strong. The old fashioned has a turtle in ice to be a souvenir haha. The pork was very tasty although I wasn’t into the Brussels sprouts that were served. But that would be my only complaint,
We had dinner at the Stone Turtle on a Sunday in June. It was a splendid meal. Everything was very good. I had the special, which was a pork and pepper dish, that was very tasty. Our waitress, Genesis, was friendly and helpful.
Above average bar food when it comes to the menu options. Dinner was delicious, impressive cocktail menu, excellent service. Gourmet bar food, not a huge dinner menu, but there is something for everyone. Wine can be bought by the bottle as well. I appreciate how the bar was separate from main dining area, very good use of a cozy space. We will be back very soon!
Had a lovely date with my girlfriend. The food was excellent. The fried calamari was particularly good. Our server had personally eaten every dish on the menu.
Stopped in on a Sunday night for a first time. It was a little empty, but filled up quickly. I the chilli which was excellent and Gnocchi with mushrooms which was very good. Combine that with good service and I will definitely return.
The cheese frosting fondue is amazing. Be ready to share! The pork chop was Juicy and full of flavour! Will definitely be back for more!
We chose Stone Turtle to host our son's Wedding Rehearsal dinner, and we could not be more pleased. Nick (the owner) did a fantastic job in the planning stages, offering us plenty of menu options and being open to our needs. He kept in touch, always responsive to emails and calls, taking care to make sure everything was completed on time and on budget. The night of the dinner, Nick and the entire staff were amazing. All friendly and helpful. We could not have asked for a better crew to take care of our group. The food was simply fantastic. Every single person in our group of 50+, without exception, was impressed with the their meal. Whether they had the burger, salmon, or their famous ribs, we heard nothing but praise for the food from all of our guests. Most importantly, the bride and both moms were completely happy. And in the end, that was the goal. Nick and his crew not only achieved that goal, they knocked it out of the park!
Glad we decided to got for brunch to this place, even though the food took a long time to be done (it was not full so, I think you could assume that if it’s crowed = food’s gonna take a while) the Dogtown Omelet was amazing, really food! And the service was great too. We will probably go back for dinner some time.
Price: 8/10 Taste: 7/10 Quality: 9/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Menu: 7/10 Intimate little restaurant that is great place for a date night or maybe a business meeting. Food tasted great and was of high quality.
Got there as soon as they opened for dinner and they weren't too busy. The sandwich I had exceeded my expectations. We had three appetizers, which was a lot for two people. Our favorite was the pork belly. Parking is kind of a nightmare in my experience, I can't seem to find anything nearby.
Stone turtle is a great place to go for a nice fancy dinner. Good place for a first date. The staff members are very friendly. Food is amazing!!
This place is a hidden gem 💎 located near the St.louis Zoo. It's not your typical fine dining establishment. But, the dishes coming out the kitchen are amazing. The chef definitely knows what he's doing. I went over the weekend for Valentine Day. The menu was pre fixed. My wife order the tiger rolls which were amazing. I had the Ceasar salad with truffle oil which was phenomenal. We both ordered the steak with bacon sherry sauce. The meat was tender and the flavor was out of this world. We finished up with the cheesecake. The Stone Turtle is my new favorite " Go To" spot. Trust me on this one... Do yourself a favor and go.
Amazing food and great selection of drinks. Our server was super nice. Delicious, will definitely be back.
Went here for brunch. Delicious food, nice atmosphere good selection of drinks. Definitely will be back
My husband and I went here for date night the other night. I had the burger and it is the BEST burger I have ever had! Loved it so much, we went back 3 days later to eat here again and it was amazing the 2nd time too!
It’s like a neighborhood bar and grill elevated in the best way possible. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. They are a bit higher than your average pub but the quality and taste are so much better. We had the Polynesian ribs which were delicious and served with a small salad that I’d have loved to have more of, and I’m generally not a big salad fan. I had the house burger and it may be one of the best burgers in the city. The real winner was the brisket dip my wife got. I was hesitant about ordering it because of the price but it was easily large enough for two people. Oddly, the ribs were the least messy item we had to eat. Wear nice clothes but not TOO nice that you’ll be upset about ruining.
Had a wonderful evening at The Stone Turtle. The whiskey selection is excellent, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and the food was outstanding. A place that clearly cares about what they’re doing.
I highly recommend brunch! Be sure to make a reservation. I thoroughly enjoyed the French Press and French Toast. My fiancée got the Biscuits and Gravy, and our friends got the BLT and Salmon and Eggs. Everyone was pretty happy with what they got! Presentation was beautiful, and service was great.
The food was amazing. Our server John was very professional and attentive he helped make our Christmas brunch merry.
Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was impressive. We will be back to try more delicious choices from the flavor packed menu.
This restaurant was so good. Came here w my boyfriend before an event and it was amazing. Food came out in a timely manner, the head chef was so kind and even came to talk to us to ask how our meal was. We ordered the tiger rolls, steak friets, and a salad and it was more than enough for two people. The atmosphere was super cool too. Would definitely recommend coming here if you are ever in the area.
When you visit or if you live in St. Louis, you must visit Stone Turtle! The food and service was AMAZING! Great atmosphere, great service, and DELICIOUS FOOD! There are options for everyone. I had the Brisket Dip and I give it a chef's kiss!! The brisket was seasoned and cooked perfectly! I must warn you the sandwich is massive! I shared it with a friend who ordered the Salmon which was juicy & also cooked to perfection (med rare)! Everyone enjoyed the food, desserts, and drinks. (The pics are from their website but the food looked just like the pics! We started eating immediately so I couldn't take pics.. sorry) :)
We absolutely love Stone Turtle — it’s one of our favorite go-to spots in town. The food is consistently phenomenal and the drinks are just as fantastic. What really sets it apart, though, is the atmosphere. It’s relaxed and welcoming, never too loud, and the bar area has TVs without sound so they don’t intrude on conversation. The lighting is low but perfectly cozy, and the staff is always warm and friendly. Stone Turtle strikes the perfect balance of great flavors, great drinks, and a great vibe. Highly recommend!
My wife and I were at the Stone Turtle Friday night and they crushed it. Reservations were ready, welcoming atmosphere, tasty beverages, delicious entrees, and thee best service we have ever had anywhere. Thank you Genesis for an incredible fun filled evening. You are a unicorn 🦄 princess 👸 BOOM The kitchen warriors slayed the grill. The Duffys
Visited for the first time and could not have been more pleased. The Pork Belly cashew starter was delicious, my cesear salad was one of the best I'd ever had and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Genesis our server was a delight!
Went here last night for the first time and everything was wonderful! We got the Tiger Rolls, the salmon, the burger with the parmesan truffle fries, and a piece of the turtle pie at the end. Everything was delicious. Our server was Natalie and she was super sweet! We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!
City dining in November with my wife's college friend. We chose Stone Turtle. some place new to everybody. This little quaint restaurant in Dogtown is small and intimate. It has basic burgers to nice steak dinners. I had the steak entree special 12 oz strip steak and saffron risotto. The steak was cooked to medium as I like it and the risotto was a nice mouthfeel soft melt in your mouth flavorful.. I added a white wine to go with my steak choice A Hess Chardonnay this was easy drinking and slightly fruity . We opted out of the desert menu. A tough decision although the desert menu was tempting. I recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed with Stone Turtle.
I stumbled across this restaurant on Google search. I viewed the menu and some of the food items and thought, "this is my type of restaurant." And to my surprise, it was... the Tiger Roll with the cilantro jam was EVERYTHING‼️😋 the grapefruit was delicious and the Libations were great as well. The only thing I think needs to be revamped is the chicken and waffles. I get that they may have been going for a Southern Chicken and Waffle feel where the crust looks almost burned but the chicken is Juicy on the inside... but it was definitely not that experience. After sending it back and getting the replaced order it was still not tasty. It was dry and overcooked each time the crust was way too crispy and beef jerky chewy. The waffle needs a little bit more weight to it, it was as if I was eating the air.. it was too lightweight and crispy. Other than that, I will definitely go back.
Feels like a Euro bistro. Solid and distinctive menu and nice ambiance. Everyone in our party said their food was well prepared.
When traveling it is always hard to pick somewhere to eat, but let me tell you go here! You will not be disappointed! The food was outstanding and the atmosphere inviting, but our service was excellent!!! Thank you Genesis and the server she was training for making our experience even better!
My wife had the salmon. It was perfectly cooked and the sides were excellent. I had the pork chop. The waitress said it would be cooked medium. It was well done and extremely dry. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic. The grits, well they are grits. They were well cooked.
showed up for lunch on Sunday 2/1/2026 as our first time dining here. The service and atmosphere were great. My friend ordered the egg benedict bacon sandwich, and I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs. Our cocktails were great, the egg sandwich was great, but the biscuits and gravy were over the top salty and almost inedible.
We loved almost everything about our experience — except for an unacceptable delay in receiving our dinner. We started with a couple of starters/bar snacks: the portabella croutons and the fried cheese. Both were excellent. My friends and my wife ordered cocktails that were very good and reasonably priced. We placed our dinner order and waited about 35–40 minutes. After watching several tables that arrived and ordered well after us receive their food, we finally asked about our meals since we had tickets to a show. We arrived a little before 6:00 PM, giving ourselves an hour to eat and enough time to get to our 7:30 show. We were told a mistake had been made by the server and that our food was being worked on at that point. Our meals finally arrived after roughly 45–50 minutes, leaving us about five minutes to eat. The food itself was very good. My friend didn’t love his fried fish — I think the cornmeal coating just wasn’t to his taste. I loved my salmon, and my wife thought her burger and fries were excellent. The manager did check in and tried to help, but someone should have noticed how long we were waiting — especially in a restaurant that size. What really disappointed us was that nothing was offered to make up for the delay, the stress, or the rush to finish our meals. Not a drink, not a dessert to go, not even comping the two $6 starters. Just a “sorry, the server made a mistake,” and that was it. A small gesture — even inviting us back for a cocktail after the show or on a future visit — would have gone a long way. But unfortunately, nothing was offered, which didn’t feel very classy on Stone Turtle’s part. That said, we liked the place enough that we’ll probably give it another try. It’s a fun spot in a great part of St. Louis with a good atmosphere. I still encourage you to check it out — just hope your timing goes more smoothly than ours.
First time to do a business dinner here, very good start while waiting for the full party to get there. Great view of Dogtown area by Clayton. Tried a few of the appetizers then main course of a NY Strip cut, 12oz.. others had the big sandwich and burger, also salmon. Finished up with some really good cuts of Cheesecake. All was good with good attention to service. Those who want a drink it's a big choice for sure..
Stopped in on a Friday night and didn’t have reservations. Got seated quickly and provided with waters. Place was very busy and definitely needed more than two servers. We waited a solid 15 minutes to place first drink orders. We also ordered the Truffle Mac & Cheese. After another long wait (20-ish minutes) the Mac and Cheese arrived, followed shortly by those first drinks. The MnC was good, but sadly the bacon overpowered every other hint of flavor. We couldn’t detect any truffle flavor at all. We ordered our entrees when the MnC arrived, and then waited over an hour for two dishes: a burger and a Caesar salad. We were told it took so long because they had to cook the steak that was added-on to the salad. When the food arrived, it looked great. Burger was thick and juicy with a nice brioche bun. Salad looked well dressed and prepared, although the use of spring mix rather than romaine for a Caesar was unusual. The steak that accompanied the salad was absolutely fantastic, although we didn’t receive a steak knife so it was difficult to cut into smaller pieces. The dressing was delicious and the steak was well seasoned. The burger, on the other hand was so salty, I could feel my blood pressure rising with each bite. The bacon jam wasn’t so much a jam as it was huge chunks of unbelievably salty bacon, and the queso sauce was also ridiculously salty. Making matters worse, they seasoned the burger (which would normally be greatly appreciated), making everything into a huge salt bomb. We overheard the table next to us say the same things about their burger, so it wasn’t just our fate. Despite the slow service and the salty burger, we enjoyed the evening. Our server was very friendly but clearly overloaded and as a result, quite absent for most of the night.
The waitress was very knowledgeable and nice. The calamari was delicious and the drinks. The salmon, potatoes, and broccoli wasn’t the best. My husband liked his steak, but overall don’t think we will visit again.
This review is based on my experience for Sunday brunch. They have a pretty good selection of food options covering your bases for a typical brunch. They also have a couple unique options like their popular "breakfast in bread." This dish was excellent, loaded with flavor, fresh vegetables, and a good balance of sweet and savory. However, the rest of my party seemed to have underwhelming dishes, including an extremely under-cooked omelette. Service was also below average, and they never refilled our water. I would hope that Stone Turtle isn't like this all of the time, but just one great dish isn't enough for me to pay them another visit in a city full of amazing brunch places.
Starting with the good parts! - the brisket dip is SO GOOD. It was delicious and I’d highly recommend it - inside was very cute - our server was very nice and did a great job Now the not so good parts - it was 78 degrees in there. My friends and I were sweating. I’m typically always cold but god was it hot in there. I don’t know if this was a one off occurrence. But we were MISERABLE. We were ready to leave shortly after we started eating. - my friends ordered a mushroom pasta dish, fish and chips, and a plain burger. All of which was rather bland (obviously a plain burger is bland im referring to the other two dishes). Without salt and pepper the pasta dish tasted like cream and noodles. You’d expect more for a $21 dish. No seasoning on the fish part of fish and chips. - the funniest and oddest part was that my friend asked for a side of asparagus. Mind you it’s $7 for a side of that. She received only four sprigs. Four. I had asked our waiter for more since it was so pricey. He was unable to help, which is not his fault by any means!! But for $7 you think you’d get 7 pieces??? Unfortunately I will not be returning.
This is by far the worst food I've ever tasted in a restaurant since I was born. I ordered a pork chop, Brussel sprouts and grits, OMG 😟 I can't even explain it🤮🤮🤮. The chop was blunt and no flavour, the grits yew and Brussel sprouts were just as bad. Maybe it was just a bad day but if it's how it is then I wouldn't recommend that dish. My friend ordered a sandwich it was a little too salty but eatable😐. I couldn't eat anything off my plate I was disappointed for the price
This was probably the third time my spouse and I have been here, all for a pre-Fox show. First time was very good, second time, his meal was good and mine was just fine. This time, unfortunately, both were borderline inedible. I am not one to write a poor review, but for a place marketing itself with prestige prices, it does not back it up with quality. We started with the egg rolls and a smoked old fashioned each. Then had the steak frites and fish and chips. The appetizer was fine, nothing special but the sauce was good. Cocktails were nice as well. However, the entrees were a different story. The steak was ordered medium rare...but came out grey and slimy. My spouse likened it to chewy gyro meat. The fish, supposed to be in a cornmeal batter, was not at all crispy and sandy in texture. All of it was bland even with lemon for the fish. The strange thing is it seemed if the fish was fried, the oil was just not hot enough, cause I don't know how you get that texture unless it was baked? The one saving grace on each of our plates were the fries, which were quite good. I get things not being five star artisanal cuisine all the time. Maybe it was just an off night. But the bill with a tip was $120, and we could have gotten a better meal from a fast casual restaurant for nowhere near that price. We didn't complain to the waiter. He seemed to be the only staff member in the entire restaurant, and he was quite nice even despite having to run around everywhere. Having had good experiences and seeing so many other glowing reviews, I’d normally be willing to give a place another chance. But the entrees were unappetizing, I definitely not be coming back, and as this was maybe the most poor food experience I've had in years, I will sadly be warning others to stay away.
