Holy cow! What an outdoor dining gem by the sea. My usual spot is closed indefinitely and this was the only spot with a tempting menu and safe picnic style dining in the sunshine. Win-win! The lox was delicious and elegant. My friend was delighted by fresh crab and the generous mimosa size. I will come back again to try whichever baked dessert smelled so good!
We came for lunch, dinner and breakfast. I don’t understand the reviews. Staff was very nice, food was delicious, lots of options, and I had the best chocolate croissant ever (I’m from Europe so my expectations are high in terms of pains au chocolat ;) ). A great spot, perfect location.
The menu was varied and rich with choice, every meal was fresh, warm, incredibly tasty. The service was impeccable and the food came quickly. Gluten free options were explained when asked and the quality was not compromised on the gluten free meals. Overall I would recommend this to anyone and come back again!!
Great beachside stop for a meal! We went to the snack bar and ordered the fish tacos, chicken pesto tacos, firecracker fries, and strawberry milkshake. Everything was delicious! We especially loved the fries, and one serving was perfect to share between the two of us. We walked it over to the beach nearby to eat, which was very convenient and peaceful on a quiet weekday!
What a fantastic cafe! The food options were varied. Great location on Stinson Beach, and delicious food. From the walk-up counter, we grabbed pastries, breakfast sandwiches and coffee drinks and walked to the beach for frisbee tossing. I wish I had known about this spot when I lived in California. Hopefully one day we'll return to this stretch of HWY 1.
Food was delicious, portions were very good sized and wait time was minimal even though the cafe was full. Came here on a weekday and there were a lot of people. Even though the place is small , it was cozy and environment was warm-big plus to the fireplace inside :). The servers were quick, food was delicious and seemed to be locally sourced . Overall very good experience, will be coming back.
Really amazing cafe. It is right in-front of the beach. We ordered fish and chips ( most recommended), the fish was very fresh and tasty. Clam chowder, hot chocolate and banana smoothie. Clam chowder was equally tasty. And hot chocolate had the right amount of sweetness and tasty as well. Smoothie was just alright, could be skipped
My girlfriend and I both had the crab Benedict and they were both delicious! Perfectly poached eggs and bountiful fresh crab. The home fries were well-seasoned and cooked just right. The scenery out on the patio was gorgeous with a bit of coastal fog on the mountains that day. Our server was helpful and friendly. What's not to like? I'll be back next time I'm in the area. My little pup, Sophie, seemed to thoroughly enjoy everything, as well. Thanks for being dog friendly!
Tacos were amazing had the halibut tacos special and it's sooo good. Nice outdoor area next to an amazing beach
Very buzy when we went, service was fast and friendly. Food was great! Great ppace to grab some food and enjoy by the beach!
First of all, we absolutely fell in love with this town! We went end of September and the weather was perfect! Parkside was recommended by our hosts at out cottage. This place has everything you could need for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We discovered these morning buns that were to die for! (We've never heard of them prior to our visit). We also had an amazing dinner one night outside under the lights. They had heaters on to keep you warm and toasty. The food was incredible! I had the freshest fish I've ever tasted and my daughter had the crab risotto which was so rich and creamy! Yum! The service was top-notch. Being from Maine, we have some really good seafood, but we really enjoyed the west coast offerings...they were far better than we ever expected!
Fantastic service, a little pricey and smaller portions, but well worth the price! Steak was cooked perfect and omelet was delicious! Highly recommend this place if you ever plan to visit the beach. Also, they have a small marketplace where you can buy some of the sauces they make along with some other cool items, check it out.
This place is fire, at least for when we went for breakfast. Ordered the Benedict #1 and brioche French toast, as a first round lol. Was so good wife and I ordered the blueberry pancake (which tasted authentic buttermilk by the way) and the omelet (super healthy and well made)... absolute fire. Wife and I cook a lot at home and know how to season food and know how food should taste that is quality made. Parkside café definitely was on point. Not sure about others but this place is an easy 5 star stop for good food and atmosphere.
Prices are a bit high, but at least the food quality and variety is excellent. There can be long lines in the summer, but this place is efficient and moved rapidly. Folks here seen friendly too. Super convenient with a short walk from the beach. Overall, small beach town vibes with great summer food, I'm luv'in it, oops, I meant I'm loving it!
You know that experience of a cafe that is right near the beach and the owners know it doesn't really need to try that hard cuz it's right near the beach? That's not this. The food is really good (had an excellent pastry here. A truly flaky and delicious pastry. At a beach cafe!) and the line moved at a reasonable pace, and the staff was very friendly. So, yeah, pretty great. One critique though: while the breakfast burrito we had was also very good, the size was VERY small relative to the price. Like half of what you think of when you hear breakfast burrito
Had a wonderful day at Stinson Beach and the food at Parkside - Stinson was outstanding! Service was excellent. I had the fish tacos. With the special sauce that was served on the side, the tacos were a culinary delight of heaven. And speaking of heaven, Stinson and the Point Reyes area are perhaps the most beautiful places on earth. This part of Marin is special. Stopping at Parkside was perfect. Atmosphere/ambiance is relaxed, rustic, yet has nice little touches of elegance, such as sunflowers, French glassware and nice silverware-flatware with sturdy yet soft napkins. Parkside offers both indoor and outdoor seating, very close to the beach so that glimpses of the shore can be seen from a distance out of the windows. My house Margarita was just right and the house hand-cut fries with malt vinegar were scrumptious. I splurged! And, had dessert with aromatic fresh hot coffee. Who can resist fresh made soft-serve ice cream made by Strauss Creamy? Especially since Marin/Sonoma County is where Strauss dairy products are made. All of their milk and cream is made from local grass-fed cows and it’s organic! A medley of fresh berries were included with the Strauss ice cream and that made for a refreshing treat on a summer day. Next time I visit Parkside, I will have a burger. A note to fish and seafood fans, this is the place! The fish was excellent! And when I do go back again, I will also splurge on dessert. The bread pudding is said to be one-of-a-kind, original recipe. Plenty of parking at Parkside, but when busy at peak season everything fills up fast and crowds flock. Yet on a beautiful day there’s plenty to go around of all the good things that Marin County has to offer for everyone. It’s a gem of a spot!
I'm surprised to see below 4 star rating of this place. We had an absolute blast here, enjoyed our food and drinks, and yes, it's definitely on the more expensive side, but it's in Stinson Beach!!, so everything here is overpriced, why are y'all so surprised? We ordered oysters (amazing, fresh), then I got seafood stew, and my husband got filet mignon (they made it exactly how he wanted - medium rare). Our waiter Luis stopped by several times to ask if everything is good. as we were paying our bill, we chatted with Luis a few more minutes, and promised we'll be back soon, with friends.
Cool place to get lunch if you can find parking. We were seated pretty quickly and just got a drink and the seafood platter to split for a quick snack. Not a ton of food, but pretty tasty, especially the biscuits. The biscuits were fluffy and savory, which went great with the platter. The outdoor seating was dog friendly, and there's a little marketplace with gourmet (and pricy) pantry items.
Hidden gem!! My goodness best meal we've had in a while!! Server was so helpful and kind, service was top tier
While pricey, I left very satisfied with the food I ordered and the service was on point. I had the seafood stew which is one of if not the best I ever had. It was very filling. I also had the oysters and they were fresh and flavorful and came with caviar. If you are looking for a great seafood meal, I would suggest going here.
I don’t know why this place has less than 4 stars? We sat outside and ate lunch here after an 8 mile hike from Mill Valley and the food was really good. I had a Benedict #2 with shrimps and crab and a root vegetable hash. Great stuff! They also have a coffee kiosk/bakery and a more casual menu for take out.
A mandatory stop in when going to Stinson. Great food (like really fresh and yummy), dog friendly relaxed patio (great for brunch/lunch/dinner) and cute little market as well. I wish the wine list had a few different options. But otherwise it is always a great finish to a fabulous visit to the beach.
I love this restaurant and the market place where we get the most amazing bread. I have eaten here every time I do the Dip Sea Trail and I vary the bread in my backpack on the way back. Lunch at this restaurant is our reward. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. This time, we had the Avocado Pasta and the Crab Cakes. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.
We’ve eaten here a few times over the years and have not been disappointed. Hungry diners should consider the enormous burger. The crab cake is a very tasty lighter lunch. The delicious roasted vegetables compliment any menu item. Bonus store and bakery storefronts make a nice experience and then the beautiful beach tops off a great stop. Recommend.
We were on a road trip through the area. Stopped in town for a coffee. This was a perfect stop! Latte was fabulous, and then there were the breakfast items. The couple in front of us couldn't decide. So, they ordered five items. We narrowed it down to the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, breakfast burrito, and the pistachio roll. My sandwich had green chilies and tomato as well. Perfect morning to sit in the park area and enjoy before hitting the road.
One of the best Fish and Chips meal ever eaten. Delicious Mint Oreo shakes, too. Busy but understandable for a beautiful afternoon and lunch time, at a place which offers such good food! Right off the beach parking lot with park and seating area, and steps away from the beach itself, Parkside Cafe is a place I fully recommend. Extensive menu helped all in my group feel happy ordering from here. Apparently popular with the local population, too. Fast and professional service. Great beach atmosphere.
We went to the Parkside Cafe for lunch. We sat outside. There was was a nice breeze, and a green scenery surrounding us. This Cafe exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious. Since we were there at 12 pm, we could still order from both breakfast and lunch menus. For an appetizer we got calamari. They were soft and fresh. For main dish, we had fish tacos with halibut and an egg with a steak. The fish melted in my mouth, that's how fresh, and how properly cooked it was. The steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare). The coffee was also very good. We are definitely coming back! Recommending.
Tell me why this restaurant at the beach probably made one of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had? We had such a good lunch the first time that we came back for dinner (it was also because we failed to catch fish). Everything we had was amazing. Very surprised by the bad reviews because this is one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.. and I’m from the cities.
Great place to go and eat after a good hike. Food is delicious and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

My boyfriend and I ordered takeout after a long day of adventuring. The food was ready and boxed nicely in a timely fashion. We appreciated the sauces being on the side as to not make the burgers…
We had the clams, mussels and vegetables appetizers the services, great friendly happy the ambience was wonderful blue skies outside. They turned the heater on a wonderful stop.

Such a relaxing and quaint restaurant. Food was delicious and service was quick! I highly recommend stopping in!
Great pizza at a reasonable price given the prime location near the beach! Good service, too. Parkside definitely deserves a higher Yelp rating than it has.

Definitely good seafood. The stew had great flavor just right spices and flavor on the broth! It had everything on description clams, mussels, rock shrimp, dungeness crab, dayboat scallop, fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, white wine, lemon, parsley, chili flakes, garlic toast . Crab cake full of crab meat 🦀 not fillers great flavor and texture
Had the Double Bacon Cheese Burger it was great. Super close to the beach busy but quick service. The patties were well cooked crunchy Bacon, crisp lettuce and salt water in the air. There is Coffee,Pizza and pastries avaliable as well. Takes me back to the good old days very good experience all together.
I'm reserving a star for consistency: we'll be back. We had 2 orders of the crunchy, hot & perfectly cooked fish and chips and then an order of chili cheese fries. We were hungry. Everything came quickly and was very tasty. Perfect for pre-dusk outdoor cheap eats at the beach. The tiny table near the shack was clean and well situated near a propane space heater. I would have left the fries in the boiling oil for maybe 45-60 seconds longer, but then I like them crunchy. So that's just me. I'm sure that the friendly staff would have obliged. I feel a warning is due however, though it has nothing to do with the quality of the food or service: this place closes promptly at 7. As we were digging the last delicious chili nuggets out of the bottom of the paper dish around 7:20pm, various people approached the snack bar and were disappointed that it had closed. Don't be those people. The cafe that shares the building with the snack bar is considerably more sophisticated and the prices reflect this. So make a point to drop by the snack bar earlier and take advantage of the warming tower things. We'll be back.
Food was alright, granted we stopped after just getting out of the city cause we were hungry, and knew what we were getting into, a tourist trap. So the food was a little pricey for what it was and the service was slow. We were passed around 3 hosts/servers before we were sat in a pretty empty restaurant. Again not complaining, we knew, the food was decent, would stop again in the same circumstance.
Love this place, food is always fresh and the bakery serves amazing sweet and savory. However, staff can be a bit unfriendly and seem really unhappy with their job at times. Sometimes tables are sticky
Most importantly; food was excellent! The location is beautiful & I would definitely go back! Some of the reviews referenced bad service… Luis, our server, may have seemed a little “stand-offish” to begin with but once I engaged him a little I found him to be super friendly! I mean, there was a lady who seemed extremely put out just because my wife expressed a desire to be left in the sunshine rather than have an umbrella nearby erected that would block it. She’s perhaps the main reason I can’t give the place a 5* to be honest. All in all, I’d defo recommend!
VERY crowded and right off the beach entrance. Spendy. My grilled cheese was not as expected, but good. I also liked the coconut shrimp. The fish tacos had a decent patty of fish, but no salsa/flavor.
Got the Fried Cod Tacos and 2 Margaritas from the Snack Shack. The tacos came with corn tortillas which are typically not my go-to, but they were so good that I didn't even mind. The fish was nice and crispy. They could have used a little bit of hot sauce because there was no real spice. The margaritas were good too. The service was fast, fresh, and friendly. The cashier told us exactly where to find clean restrooms too. Eating fish tacos outside, in the sun, on the beach was great.

Had the Neiman Burger ($20, with fries) which was fantastic, very well prepared and with yummy fries. The reason I'm giving three stars is because their bathroom was really gross, looked kind of like a gas station bathroom to me. Somebody needs to do some deep cleaning on the wall behind the sink and toilet and fix the toilet paper dispenser, and then keep on top of keeping that thing clean.
Stopped in and got the fish 'n chips. Not horrible, but not great either. A good and service were a solid meh 🤷🏻♂️ People were nice and location was good. Not a whole lot more to write about. A generally forgettable experience.
Been to stinston many times before but this was first time trying out this place after long day at the beach. Cheeseburger was delicious, coffee was ok, but poor customer service; staff are not welcoming; feels like staff are not happy when customers come to order food and drinks; don't have desire to visit this place again.
Came here with some family on the day before New Years and had a little wait but then got quickly seated at a booth. Food: I got the Benedict with extra aged prosciutto and actually found it to be really solid and had a great portion size and a really good liquidy egg. The potato and veggie hash was savory and tasty and went well with the prosciutto. Also tried the fish tacos which were really small in size and average tasting. Service: The food comes out so slowly, which is one of the reasons why this place is rated lower. They come by very infrequently for the check or service. Ambiance: A nice cozy place near the beach! It’s a very homey vibe. Overall this place is average in terms of brunch and a bit too expensive to go unless you don’t have any other food option.
Good food, astronomical prices. Service is patchy but people are ver friendly and well meaning. I will go back, but avoid the fish tacos —$32 for a couple tortillas, pieces of avocado, slabs of fish, and watery green salsa - ripoff. Pizzas are also about $30 (good but pricey). Burger is tasty.
On our visit to Muir Woods National Monuments, we decided to visit Stinson Beach before going home since we've already visited the Muir Beach last time. After the hike at Muir Woods, we were hungry and there's no restaurant near the beach that's opened, there's only this restaurant next to the beach parking lot, so we went in to try it out even though the prices seem a little high but we expected this establishment costs each seat $15 just for a chair. The servers were quite attentive and pleasant. Every table has a little fan to chase away the flies which is quite effective. The menu has quite many dishes for lunch. My wife wanted to be safe to order the Burger and Fries, I always love fish and chips so I ordered that, which later my wife told me that I should order the fish taco. Anyhow, I don't think it matters what we order, the food here isn't meant to be special. The Burger is actually tasteless, no salt, no sauce, no flavor, In-n-Out would taste much better without anything. We share both of our dishes. This is the first time I have to eat burger with ketchup because it's so tasteless. The fish is crispy and moist but also tasteless, the batter has no flavor, the fish has no flavor, without the tartar sauce it's uneatable. Yes, the portions are big, the french fries could be better. Anyhow, we have to try all the restaurants, so at least we know, we should drive 8 miles the other way to In-n-Out for lunch which we would be much happier and less money. While eating the burger, I kept wishing having a five guys burger because I've never had any burger like this.
Food is ok. If you bring your own sauce ;) I appreciate it was fresh, and i would say healthy, especially if they would have more options that are not burgers. I hope seafood is better. I had seafood a few years ago, and it was good, but I do not know if it is the same. Menu is quite confusing. I like the atmosphere and the ease. But i think they could be more welcoming. They had a lot of free tables on weekend eve, I believe they easily could have more customers with the right approach. I think they could ask guests if they would like to sit inside or outside. Cause I am sure some end up skipping the experience because it seems that sitting is not available. Bathroom. They should do something about it, like post motivational sign to keep it tidy as well as place at least simple stand for guests to put phone or whatever they might have in hands. Overal, I like the place. I hope it can get a bit better.

Food was great, all be it expensive. However I'm leaving a bad review for the service. we left, got ice cream and came back, but one of the hosts wouldn't let my girlfriend with a broken leg and a cane use the restroom without fighting them for a while. Food was great, not ADA friendly
The thing is this is the only place open in Stinson, which kinda sucks. I only can give credit to the food. Apparently you’re not allowed to open your laptop here because it doesn’t “go with the vibe” when literally I was the only person sitting. Wished they had a better sense of logic to serve their customers well when it looks like they really need them.
This place is weird. It's close to the beach and seems really charming, but there are many things that are off-putting and it doesn't feel welcoming. They advertise their wood-fired pizza, but it can only be ordered to go. It's also not heated up?? They grabbed the pizza straight from the pastry case, put it on a paper plate, and said it was served "room temperature only"??? They also don't offer seating unless you're ordering from the dinner menu, which the pizza was apparently not a part of. And then, since the restrooms are ONLY for seated customers, we couldn't use them, despite ordering and paying for food. The food was fine but the vibes are bad and not worth the trouble. I would recommend they change the sign to say "room temperature wood-fired pizza, standing room only" to be more accurate. :')
Food was good but the global experience wasn’t the best. We had to wait 40 mins because of “a big group”. Food temperature wasn’t on point and we had to ask to recook some eggs. The menu is fine but it seems pesto is forced in everything. I am a big fan of pesto too, but not that much. The marketplace is cute, but definitely overpriced.
Coffee is not good. No facilities for the public unless you sit down in restaurant to dine. 95% of customers purchase at the windows. You can't install a restroom? staff was not friendly.

Posting this review because they deleted the first one, just to highlight how shady this place is. They charged us $85 before tip for a small bowl of pasta, greasy fish and chips, and bread that arrived to the table late. On top of that, they also make you wait outside for the restroom even though they have a sign that clearly states "restroom for dining patrons only." The worst dining experience considering the iconic landmarks and beach right next door. Never coming back.
The food was good but very pricey for what we ordered. 4 bowls of clam chowder, 6 pieces of oysters and fish taco with 3 small sizes tortilla flour. We paid $106 without a tip. Tip is mandatory 18%-25%. Nothing much choice in the menu. No public restroom sign employees only, not stated for customers. . Very inconvenient and disappointing customer service. The lady confront us, not to put tables together because they don't allow it and can damage the floor as per owner's rules.😮 And she moved us to a different table setting close to the fireplace that's too hot♨️.
We ate here early in the morning and the server did not seem pleased with her job, just kind of weird vibes. We spent more than $100 for the three of us to eat and liked our food though. When we came back after doing some hiking and wanted to grab some snacks (also from their establishment) I tried to use the restrooms since we were sit down customers earlier in the day, but I was not allowed to per a employee standing guard at the door and was directed to port-a-potties that were pretty gross. I would eat somewhere else the food wasn’t above and beyond so you won’t be missing much.
I swear this place actually took an hour to give us food and the food was low-key trash. I saw other people that came 30 after we came and they had food in like five freaking minutes this place is actually buns. It sucks so much. Don’t ever come to it although Parkside Café is pretty good.
I recently visited **Parkside Stinson Beach** to grab a cup of coffee, but instead of a pleasant experience, I was met with an extremely disappointing situation. While waiting in line for the restroom, a **rude waiter** approached me and stated that only customers who order food are allowed to use the restroom. Then, he went even further and **forbade the barista from making coffee for me**, instructing them not to serve me anything. This kind of attitude towards guests is simply unacceptable! Instead of friendly service, I encountered rudeness and unreasonable restrictions. Very disappointed, and I will definitely not be coming back. I hope the management takes notice of such behavior from their staff. By the way, in the photo, this waiter is standing near the entrance, facing forward
This could be a great place if it were not for the unfriendly staff. We spent $100 here and they wouldn’t let our daughter use their restrooms! Sending a child away who needs to go to the toilet - really??
We came around 7:30PM and bought some pizza. They let us know that it's served cold... Should have been a sign to skip it. We than went to use the picnic table that were open and not being used. They had many tables open but told use we could not use them because we order food from them to go. Not worth the visit. Parking spots are limited. Bad customer service.
We went yesterday, after drive miles away trying to get a good dinner for my birthday, We needed to use the bathroom before ordering anything, and the waiters, especially the men, served us with a very bad attitude. They got mad at my friend because he had to go to the bathroom before ordering because he obviously had a physiological need. One of the waiters approached me to tell me to order if I was going to use the bathroom, which I thought was very disrespectful, because the waiters acted like they owned the place, they were classist and racist, just because we were of a different nationality they began to provide us with a service that is very controversial. We have been visiting this place for 3 years and I don't think we will visit it anymore, because even the dish that we have been ordering for years came and looked different, aside from the fact that before they gave us fries with the pesto grill chicken. They didn't give us any kind of sauce or anything like they used to... We thought it was a great place to continue celebrating our birthdays or any other celebrations we might have... Sometimes we have to be conscious and have empathy for everyone equally. After all, we're paying for food and service; we're not asking for anything for free. The point is that quality customer service is now the weakest point of that small restaurant. Thank you.
We came at 5pm on a Wednesday and we were told that anything you order at the snack bar is not able to be eaten at their patio. So we go over to the restaurant instead, intending to order an appetizer and some beers. We get seated and they tell us that we’re not allowed to take up a table if we’re not ordering a full meal each. This is a normal policy, I understand, but there were only 3 tables sat at the entire restaurant (which includes us), with all the rest of the tables, about 20+, were empty. Won’t be wasting my time here again. 😂😂
I genuinely cannot remember a more unwelcoming, petty, and absurd customer experience in my life. I spent $60 on pizza and left a $12 tip for take-out, only to be told I was not allowed to use the restroom. Let that sink in. A paying customer, standing there with hot food in hand, treated as if I were asking for access to a VIP lounge instead of a basic human necessity. This place has sit-down tables but operates under one of the most nonsensical rule systems I have ever encountered. If you sit down, you are not allowed to order pizza. If you order pizza to go, you are not allowed to use the bathroom. That is not an exaggeration. That is their actual policy. The waiter awkwardly explained that it was “his boss’s rule” and that he “couldn’t bend it.” The justification was that they have one small bathroom that is “reserved for dine-in customers.” Meanwhile, the restaurant had maybe two tables occupied out of roughly fifteen. So instead of exercising even the slightest bit of judgment or basic human decency, they chose rigid, nonsensical rules. This policy should clearly be situational. If the place were packed, I would have understood. It was not. The nearby older woman manager was shockingly rude, would not make eye contact, and did not offer even the most basic apology. She spoke with cold indifference and made it very clear that customer experience is not a priority here. She simply doubled down, stating that her manager made the rules and there was “nothing they could do.” No empathy. No accountability. No professionalism. I simply wanted to wash my hands before eating the $60 pizza I had just purchased. Their solution was to suggest either a disgusting portable toilet or a public beach bathroom nearby. Neither had soap. So yes, I was forced to eat expensive food with dirty hands because this restaurant decided that basic hygiene and basic respect for paying customers were optional. This was not just bad service. It was egregious. This rule ridiculous, the management is unapologetic and rude, and the overall attitude is “we already got your money, now get lost.” I would never recommend this place to anyone and strongly suggest you spend your money literally anywhere else. If this is how they treat paying customers, it genuinely makes me wonder what goes on behind the scenes. At this point, I am not even confident the staff themselves are allowed to wash their hands.
Came here to buy pastries and coffee. I spilt my coffee on my jacket and wanted to use the toilet to wash it but was denied entry because apparently I was not “dining in” at the restaurant. How ridiculous is that? I was then asked to go use the toilet near the beach. Service when buying the pastries was also not good. Staff kept talking with one another and barely paid attention to you. Never coming back.
On the drive over, my girlfriend and I, both Marin locals, were talking about how much we’ve always loved Parkside and how excited we were to stop in for a couple slices. We even planned on coming back after the beach for dinner and dessert. Unfortunately, the experience we had changed that, and I won’t be doing that now or in the future. At 3:30 pm on a Wednesday, the restaurant was completely empty, not a single person sitting inside. I bought two slices of pizza and tipped the person who rang me up. When I asked to use the restroom so I could wash my hands before eating, I was denied because I “wasn’t sitting down at a table.” Let me be clear: I was a paying customer. That denial is not only inhospitable, it is not legal. Under California Health & Safety Code (§113953 and §114276), restaurants with seating must provide patrons access to restroom and handwashing facilities. I understand that people probably try to use the facilities without buying anything. But that wasn’t the case here. What the interaction communicated was that because I didn’t tip that specific server, I wasn’t allowed to use the restroom, despite having already purchased food and tipped his coworker. Pizza was MID. That’s not hospitality, that’s hostility. We came in as loyal locals and left as disappointed customers. Do better, Parkside.
