Great place to have dinner or a pint but be prepared to pay for the quality you will be getting. Overall a lovely little place and I recommend the lamb as it was delicious.

Lovely staff, good beer on tap. The food was wonderful. One of the best burgers (great wraps instead of buns) I’ve had and the starter had delicious kidney which you can’t find often/ever.

Based on the food offering (our choices were delicious), the lovely location and the parking availability - it’s an easy 5/5. For service, the kitchen staff worked at speed and the server was happy & engaging. The bar staff didn’t seem keen to chat, but the drink offering made up for that - really well kept cask beer especially.

We just popped in on the way home for a spot of lunch. The pub looks very nice from the outside, i would imagine it's bakery nice to sit outside in the summer. The welcome bar area is very pretty with large open fire place and seating. There is additional seating for the restaurant area.. I had minted lamb pie with veg and beef dripping chips. My wife had beef short rib, both meals were absolutely delicious. The service was also very good with smiles all round. We will definitely be returning for more.

An amazing experience, all staff member were extremely polite. We had a booking for last saturday and were warmly welcomed. We were helped with understanding the menu and the food was INCREDIBLE. No bad words. Great taste and great portion sizes! We were stuffed!! We would heavily suggest the scallops with curry sauce and the cod+chips!

Decided to have a little drive out and had heard great things about this place. Did not disappoint. The lobster was massive and delicious. Lovely staff and a great garden … thank you 😊

Such a fantastic pub. Warm and professional service, delicious cold beer and the food is outstanding. Try the devilled kidneys- you won’t regret it!

Excellent! The burger inside a wrap was delicious and a twist on the usual thing you would expect. My wife had the seafood pasta which was great. The bread and cheese starter was really tasty. Great latte in high glass cups and brownie and ice cream. The service was also top notch, always checking on us without being too much, great tone and care. And in the sun the setting was lovely and with little wind on the outside tables.

Visited along side my family and we were completely satisfied with how great of an experience we all had. The food for a start was exceptional, the scallops and mussels went down a treat! And the sharing platter was more than enough between two people. The staff were so friendly and helpful, that’s including the pub dog who is lovely. The atmosphere and decor was charming and casual, the location was really good. Close to many attractions such as a few vineyards which we had visited prior.

Friendly customer service, definitely a pub known to locals, dog friendly, had battered cod and chips surprised skin on still, good chips in beef dripping, crispy batter, white flaky cod. Even had a dairy free dessert on the menu

Great food, really friendly staff and more pub dogs than you can shake a stick at. Food was way above your standard pub food! Also great veggie selections on the menu. Highly recommend.

Very tasty food and very friendly Service (also for dogs :D) Our favorit Pub in Stone in Oxney/ Appledore. The Backgarden and the view in the Front ist very nice. There is an opportunity that you can get free Wi-Fi (the password is noted on a blackboard inside). The price-performance ratio is very fair.

Great food, way above usual pub food, with a lot of options. We had melted Camembert, escallops and rib eye steak, simply delicious. Quick and efficient service, and a friendly dog! Wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

We were a party of 11 and were looked after immaculately. The food, most especially the beef and lamb, was exceptional

We have visited this pub several times recently and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere, good food and friendly service. Today there was a minor issue with my main course which really didn’t bother me but was noticed by our server, and when the bill came I found I hadn’t been charged for it. Really excellent service, above and beyond what was required. We shall return regularly.

Heather was fab! Gorgeous pub to eat and drink in in the sunshine. Popular with locals and tourists alike

A lovely country pub with a great selection of locally sourced food and drink options. We visited on a very cold winter weekend but the welcome from the delightful young lady behind the bar and the various log burners around the room couldn’t have been warmer.

First time to this pub and it was great! so many things right. Good parking, nice fireplaces, greeted by a friendly helpfull chap, i liked the big gin menu for easy ordering, lovely food, efficiant payment. Nice views over the fields. Would recommend to others and will be returning.

On the day we arrived , there was a problem with electricity so no hot food available but , despite this ( temporary ) handicap , the service was genuinely excellent , and the cold food available was also very good . Certainly made me want to go back and try the warm food at another time.. and I had a lovely lunch sat in the garden outside in the sunshine , but with plenty of shade available . Happily recommend and will definitely return... Since returned and both food and service were , quite simply, excellent !!! Ps very dog friendly too

Fabulous food, good service - did not disappoint! I booked for a large family gathering to celebrate my birthday, 16 adults, 5 children and a baby. Delicious food - every dish - served in a laid back atmosphere. Having sent menu choices ahead of time, everything went absolutely smoothly! Thank you.

Can’t recommend The Ferry Inn highly enough: gorgeous staff, lovely people, nice drinks and excellent food. We had the scallops as a starter and the roast lamb leg as main and it was the best meal I could have wished for on our last night in the UK. We stay here overnight in our motor home and it’s not a problem at all, in fact you can be assured of a warm welcome. Thank you guys so much, what an awesome experience. Defo coming back as soon as we can x

We visited the Ferry today for a spot of lunch. Having been a few times over the years, we were looking forward to a good meal and a pint, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The food was exceptional. My husband had the pork chop dish and I had a grilled chicken, chorizo and prawn kebab, with chips, salad and the most amazing garlic mayo. The staff were really friendly and service was great. Thank you.

A great pub in a beautiful part of the country offering excellent food and service. There was a good selection of starters, main course and desserts to choose from and I also recommend the staff as they were very friendly and helpful which all contributed to making a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon. It is also a dog friendly pub

Absolutely delicious food and lovely friendly staff. I can see why people come from far away to eat here. I had a superb steak and chorizo burger and Lin had a baked goats cheese. Both meals excellently cooked and came with delicious chips, salad plus. Would choose the exact meal again. Returning this evening to sample their pizzas. Also very dog friendly with a warm open fire. Excellent !!

Good food, service was pretty good but the staff look fed up. The Interior is in need of decorating. Slightly overpriced...

Enjoyed a laid back Sunday roast here. We booked but didn’t really need to. More pricey than we were expecting. Good portion size.

We Shelled Out - We decided to venture further out from Rye to start our Scallop festival, from what we did last year. Situated further inland near Appledore, we found The Ferry Inn a dog friendly restaurant, for well behaved dogs, specialising in locally sourced food - perfect! We made sure to reserved a table before hand, as we found out that it can get very busy, especially during the Scallop festival. Nevertheless we had the full works, drinks, wine, starter, main, dessert and coffee too. Four people dined just under £240 not cheap but normal for today's standards. The Scallops had four options of flavours, which could be either starter or main. (See photos) We had mixture of those, all were delicious and cooked very well. That said there was plenty of other options, if desired including a reasonable dessert selection. The decor is traditionally English pub style, as you would expect and the service was great from the lovely ladies working hard too. The seating area was bright and airy with a nice covered roaring log fire to boot. They even had QR codes for free WiFi on the table map! Car park was a good size but can get busy with ramblers walking around the marshes. We even had a flying visit by a local helicopter pilot, using the helipad opposite! Overall a pleasant experience and would definitely visit again....4/5

Out in the farmland, great parking space and old heritage pub lookalike, wooden flooring and wooden beams, cosy. For Wednesday it was full and crowded, we booked by email and was not booked and ended up waiting in bar standing for an hour for the table, only pub near by. Good menu and bad execution l, instead of pink lamb rump, we got raw in the middle, sauce, harissa and potatoes were good. Seafood Tagliatelle, sand in the clams. Expected a fresh pasta for the price they charge. Disappointed. Service was ok. Not a value for money, expensive for the quality they provide.

Lovely place for lunch on a summers day. Dogs welcome in beer garden and bar area. Food really good quality, reasonably priced. Staff very friendly, our orders seemed to get forgotten but bar staff apologised for delay and we were happy with meals when they came. Car park opposite which is free and has lots of spaces.

Very pretty country pub situated, between Ashford and Rye. Idyllic views to be seen in the day and at sunset. Lovely Sunday menu with very generous portions as well. Definitely revisiting in the future.

Nice country pub. Good menu choices and range of drinks. The fish and chips was excellent, huge fish portion with decent batter... A little stingy with the chips if I'm being picky. Very peaceful setting. Will definitely visit again.

As a family we've been going for many years on and off and has always been a great cosy old fashioned pub. Good food and great views. For a good long while the menu has been much the same and nothing changing but still good however, we visited and the whole place has been vastly redecorated and touched up and it has done the world of wonders. New items in the menu but still sticking with the Ferry Classics that we all love still. New decor and extension in the restaurant was lovely. Great service. Everything came out promptly and was nicely presented. Food was probably the best we've ever had here. The new decor was really nice but it was also nice that it didn't take away the nice traditional village pub vibe that the Ferry has always had. Overall amazing food, service and the redesign of everything was very well done!

Had a lovely meal here and a very pleasant afternoon and evening g my only gripe was first of all several things missing from the menu which on a Sunday evening is totally understandable but very annoying when the waiter keeps coming back and forth to tell.you that we dont have what has been ordered it would be nice to be told upfront . We then asked if he reccomended the English rose we was told we shouldn't order that as we were having fish even though they had sold out of fish . I wasnt looking for a pairing I just wanted to know an opinion if he had feedback on it . The rose came which was delicious and dry and light but the server couldn't open it so I had to train him how to use the bottle opener and when paying for a £40 wine i expect to not to have to do this . This isn't his fault he needs more support and training he was very pleasant . I would definitely return this has not put me off just slight criticism when paying a lot of money you just want to feel a bit special .

Have been coming here for two years but this time very disappointed in the food. Chunky chips were undercooked and burger quite greasy and in a wrap that was too thin. After biting into it the juice/oily grease went everywhere. Not sure we would return when Rye restaurants are just 15 minutes away.

an ok Pub. Great outside sitting area. Our food was slightly burned but very large portions. Service only offered drinks when we arrived and we had to go to the counter to pay because no one showed up. Also i like to make my tip decisions on my own not this % suggestions on the card paying mashine that create pressure

Came in the other night, never knew this was here, a really sweet pub with some of the best pub grub we've had in a while. However, no matter how great the food was, the young woman who took our order was very sassy and borderline rude. We asked a question about the menu which clearly irritated her and took too much of her time. This continued throughout the evening and we felt a cold tone from her, which wasn't resonated with other customers, who she was overly friendly with. Almost to rub it in. Service is everything when you are wating out, unsure if this was a one off or the standard way that non locals are treated, but we would love to come back for the good food...

Our third visit here. We had a table for two. Unfortunately we was placed straight in front of log burner. A person attended it three times while we was there sitting directly in front of it and he opened it gradually each time. For us we melted in the heat. The table should be further away as very uncomfortable. Spolit our evening as we roasted. There were no flowers on our table although every other table apart from one had none either. I think it would nice to have flowers as I was celebrating my birthday which you knew when I booked. We ordered a bottle of wine. It was plonked on table. The waitress didn't offer to pour first glass and ask if wine was okay. I ordered lamb. I asked how it was cooked. Waitress said medium rare. Well it came too table rare. When waitress asked how food was. I said it was too rare for me she later commented strongly when she collected our plates how was your meal apart from your complaint. This totally spolit my evening as don't ask how your meal is if you do not want true feedback. We also felt the waitress and waiters should be dressed more formal as your venue is so smart . Not in trainers and sweat shirts, they look out of place as they are in a fast food restaurant. The overhead lighting flickered a lot. My husband left a tip. I disagreed with this for the reasons I mentioned.

I have been going to the Ferry for years. Usually take the tagliatelle with sea food, I must say that sadly the seafood portion is getting smaller and smaller, compared to some years ago. At £28 the plate it is very disappointing.

S
Sarah Malin

Such a shame. The local wine was delicious and the waiters very nice but the food was overpriced and badly cooked. Nice lamb but swamped in generic spicey sauce. Mushy vegetables. Overcooked fish. Definitely not local produce, beautifully cooked. Too pricey for this.
