Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - Moo Yang (grilled pork with sticky rice in banana leaf) was grilled well but a touch on the drier side and the sticky rice was quite fragrant. We also ordered the Banana Bay Pad Thai but couldn't really tell what the difference was from a regular Pad Thai. The dish itself was a bit sweeter than expected but still delicious overall. Service: 5/5 - super quick service while being polite and friendly! They checked in on us a few times to ensure we had everything we needed. Ambiance: 5/5 - open spacing feels comfortable and clean. The white couches were probably not the best idea since it looked nice from a distance but was quite stained when you actually looked closer. Value for price: 5/5 - decent portion sizes for the cost of the food!
Great experience. Servers helped take our pics when asked. Food served hot and nearly all at the same time. Brought our dessert at right time at end of meal. Many refills of water, check ins. Great lunch time deals. My friends had not been to Banana Bay - Temple City., but they were impressed. (Former 3x mayor and first Lady of MPK!) We were there from noon to 3, no one rushed us. But it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday afternoon and there were avail tables, usually this place is packed especially on weekends. Free parking but its an open air shopping mall so parking can be challenging...invoke the parking gods.
Legit good Thai food. Delicious yet with affordable prices. Big servings too. Clean restaurant and restrooms. Highly recommended to visit and eat here. Try the Crying Tiger, beef is so soft and tender. Great flavor. We also love the Cripsy Hainan and the fish. I forgot what its called but everything we ordered was good. Unfortunately though the mango sticky rice is sold out on a Sunday night :(
This is a surprise. For the price, it's a great value. Sizes are decent. Selection is good. Staff seemed genuine from South East Asia. I can't decipher the tongue so it's not Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipinos. Likely Thai or Malaysian. Service is decent, there are enough staff on the floor and everyone serves every table. Hainan chicken, steamed or fried, both good. Tom yum noodle soup, pretty good. Could be stronger but for $12, it's as far as I would expect it to go. Patai noodles were good and did not end up as stringy rubber band nor shredded pieces nor a giant glob of rice flour. No refills on drinks. Certainly water you could get all you want. Careful with the booth seat, the wooded sill is wide and unforgiving if you plant your behind on the corner. Watch out.
Good spot for food and quick bite or nice sit down. Parking sucks and iykyk. The servers are quick and for the most part efficient. The food was very well cooked. I got the crispy chicken plate. Lunch special ran about 10 bucks. Nice size meal and filled me up. Also got the Tom yum soup. Also big portion and rich flavor. Price good food better. Can be busy during lunch week so get there early before 11am if possible.
My favorite Banana Bay is the one in Rowland Heights and this place is close to that level. Overall a solid lunch experience. I had their crispy hainam chicken and it was delicious, solid quality crispy chicken and perfectly cooked rice. Their pad see eew chicken was a solid selection for the lunch hour. I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items. The location has a lot of seating options and parking spots.
Pretty solid Thai food. Came here for a late lunch (after 230pm). It didn't seem too crowded. However, the service was noticeably slow. Maybe the staff was new or short staffed this particular day. Not certain. 🤔 The food was decently flavored with nice condiments. Ordered the drunken noodles, 7 seafood fried rice, and seafood soup. The soup came out timely. All was seasoned nicely. Liked the spicy condiments. The menu had a decent selection of seafood and veggies. Portion is a nice size. I ordered some food to go as well. The decor was clean, airy, and modern. Would come back again. **Came back again after the initial review. Service was rude and rushed. Maybe it was a bad day for the servers. Do NOT get the curry. It's absolutely distasteful. They need to get this item off the menu.
Did take out as my first try looking for new Thai spot. And it won over the family, the taste is good but portions is small. The satay was delicious but man they be skimpy and cut these in half. The pork satay was actually juicier then chicken but both were equally eaten with urgency. Other mentions good were sole fish, beef fried rice and mint leaf chicken <no spicy>. recommendation here is that you get here very early if you want seat inside, It is packed. Takeout was about 30 min and well prepared n packaging good.
The fried rice here is good. The continental fried rice. There are a bunch of different flavors that you'll be able to find here. From noodles to meats to rices. Great Thai cuisine with other ethnic flavors. Eggplant is good. The crying pig (funny/sad) name is good. Seafood curry is good. Parking is easy with a private lot but there are a bunch restaurants in the plaza. Service is good here. They remodeled so the inside looks great. Overall: will return for Thai food.
A great place for casual gatherings. They have a wide variety of selections for appetizers, entrees, desserts and coffee/tea with reasonable prices. But there’s not enough servers for the size of place. All the servers look tired and our server did not check back with us once, not even to refill waters.
I will give 4.5 stars for its foods and ambience. The reason for not giving 5 stars because I want to come back to try the traditional Thai Foods in the menu before giving my final decision. I ordered some kind of mixed cuisine meals for my first time and it was great. The seasoned and the sauce were fantastic. Can't wait to come back for another adventure.
We ordered the Tom Yum with seafood. The Mussels were not fresh and chewy. Portions are small as we ordered the pad Thai also. It looks like a kid’s meal. Fried fish with apple sauce looked like it was made in a school cafeteria. Pricey and mediocre food. Avoid and find another Thai restaurant.
Went here on a rainy Christmas Day with ample seating available. Service was great and pricing fair. Food was typical Thai, I wouldn’t say it the best Thai I ever had but was acceptable if in price range. The negative I have about the food was that the beef was warm to almost cold when served and it was one of the main dishes. Didn’t feel like returning it to the kitchen. Maybe the cook was having a bad day and it was not rush hour busy. Anyhow. Service 5/5, food 2-3/5.
Came in at around 8pm, and the restaurant is still very full, which made me think this place must be popular. We were seated quickly, and server checked-in with us promptly. When we ordered, they are out of spite and crying beef, which was a little disappointed. We ordered a Diet Coke, pad see ew, crying pork, and chicken satay. The Diet Coke never came. The pad see ew was lack of flavor, and I wonder if the chef forgot to add salt or soy sauce in it. The crying pork is flavorful, and not as spicy. The chicken satay is very tender and juicy. The crying pork and chicken satay earned 3 stars in this review. Parking was never an issue in this plaza.
I don't like to leave negative reviews, but i have to be honest. The food, and the place were ok, but the service had a lot to desire. The greeter at the front desk was busy, handling two phones at the same time and it took her about 5mn before we were greeted. When we finally sat down at a table, nobody came to talk to us right away. It wasn't until a few more minutes until a server showed up. They were not even busy. Half of the place was empty. Food took a while to come out. Nobody came to check whether we needed anything during the whole meal. Our water glasses were never refilled. This place has the potential to receive better reviews when they improve their service.
Always love coming to this place for Thai food. This time, we tried the spicy salmon. Very beautiful restaurant, but no amount of decor is going to make up for an employee not washing his hand after going to the toilet. I witnessed this and was glad we got our food first, but this makes wonder how many times this goes on? I hope this is addressed or this we become my least favorite Thai restaurant.
