Ordered Steam rice cakes shrimp powder croutons fried in shrimp oil, charbroiled pork nem w/ shrimp egg rolls, and a thai iced tea. Tastes great, price was good too (menu prices accurate at time of visit). Portions were very filling and ideal for family style. Service was fast, order and paid at the counter first. Outdoor seating during peak hours was ok, first come first serve but manageable.
This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Everything is made to order; fresh and delicious!! Anything you get here, you'll be satisfied!! One of my go to is their #20 vermicelli with lemongrass beef and shrimp eggrolls. It's satisfying and perfect amount of food!! Sometimes I like to add extra shrimp eggrolls, the #28. I like to dip everything in their chili paste and fish sauce. Great bite!! Service is top notch!! They have great customer service!! Highly recommended for any time, lunch or dinner!! Don't forget their thai ice tea!! Perfect balance!!
Love their freah summer rolls. I do wish they would have the shrimp paste summer rolls as an option. Summer rolls were fresh with a nice crisp coming from the egg roll they put on it. Banh beo was also a hit. It was soft and chewy. Also love their side condiments. Believe its homemade chilli paste Theres an option for outside seating as well. Vibe is casual and laid back.
Excellent Vietnamese rice roll dishes. Their specialty beers are worth to try them.
We’ve been visiting Summer Roll for years and have both dined in and ordered take out. It has always been consistent. During summer month the rolls are great. The rice combos are great year round. Whether you like beef, lemon grass pork or chicken, you can’t go wrong. Go visit, it’s a great place to bring your family as there are many other desert shops. Both indoor and outdoor seating are good.
This was the perfect restaurant for our summer day Vietnamese food cravings. We had to order their classic summer rolls with pork nem! The other dishes we got were the banh beo (steamed rice cakes), banh hoi (vermicelli bundles with beef), banh xeo (seafood crepe), and banh mi with pork. The banh xeo was HUGE and filled with a lot of bean sprouts. All the dishes tasted authentic and were delicious. Can’t wait to come back to try more of their dishes!
Love coming to Summer Rolls whenever we’re in the area. Came here during Covid and all they had was take out. Finally nice to dine in. Ordered two plates and spring rolls to go. This place is reasonably priced. Good food, good portion size and great flavoring! One thing I noticed was I liked their spring rolls a lot more than Brodards! Parking is bit crammed in this area.
I got a quick takeout order from here and wes very happy! I ordered the lemongrass beef summer rolls. The beef was thinly sliced & very flavorful. There were a good amount of veggies in it too. There was a thin, crispy egg roll in there too with a small piece of shrimp. Love the crunch it provided, but wasn't thrilled that the shrimp tail is left on and is a little too crunchy/fibrous and hard to take off without completely crumbling the whole roll. The fish sauce was great! I also ordered a salted plum soda, and it really hit the spot! The restaurant itself was so cute, I definitely want to dine in next time and try some of their beers on tap. The woman who helped me at the counter was very kind as well!
Huge portions we never saw so many porkchops in an order of porkchops and rice. Bun Bo was very good, iced coffee was very good Service was good and friendly We enjoyed it
We came here with a friend on their recommendation because its one of their favorite place and happy to say it exceeds our expectations!! Food ordered: - Bun bo hue: the meat was tender, the noodle was cooked to perfection and not too thick or thin size. the seasoning was enough, not too salty or too bland. very hearty and warming 10/10 - #10 Rice plate (Suon Nuong, Tau Hu Ky): the portion size is huge! we had to pack it home! the pork chop was tender, well seasoned and juicy. the bean curd was my favorite. its the perfect chewy, crunchy consistency. 10/10! Service & Atmosphere: pretty quick service. we got seated right away for a saturday night around 6pm. the restaurant is a little loud but it feels homey. it smells like good bbq inside and its very tempting! clean and simple. our server was really kind and accommodating as well albeit a bit confusing but they tries. 10/10 Overall, a pretty good spot! I'd recommend the bun bo hue for a cold night. the rich dish is filling and then some as well. the price point is awesome too! there's nothing to dislike! 👍
Food is always amazing here. Summer rolls are amazing and no issues with service. Highly recommend this place if you like spring rolls or are in the are. I’ve been coming to summer rolls for years. I was introduced to them through their summer rolls and was blown away by how good they are. The sauce you dip them in is really good. I like to add a little bit of the chili sauce into it for a little spice. Vermicelli noodle bowls are good sized and taste great. Banh Mi was massive and tasted great. They have a good selection of drinks and beers. Parking in the plaza is terrible but other than that this place is amazing and I highly recommend it. Make sure to grab summer rolls #5!!!
When craving for some bun and rolls, this is a great place to be. I like their open-air seating arrangements when dining here. I always order Charbroiled Lemongrass Beef w / Shrimp Egg Rolls, hits the spot for me. Portion wise it’s really good. Their Summer Rolls are also filling, but on the pricier side.
Summer Roll in Temple City has recently reopened its main dining room after three years of offering only take-out service. The menu is still as extensive as before with some exciting new additions. During a recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying out three dishes, including the signature dish Nam, Banh Mi sandwich, and Grill Pork with Broken Rice and Steamed Egg. The Nam dish is still as delicious as before, with a crispy skinny egg roll inside. However, the standout dish for me was the Grill Pork with Broken Rice. The pork was well seasoned and incredibly tasty. It was undoubtedly my favorite dish. I also had the opportunity to speak with the owner, who has been running the restaurant for a long time. He was very friendly and clearly puts his heart into the food. He created a delectable special sandwich that was out of this world. Instead of using the traditional French baguette bread, he used Italian ciabatta to add more texture to the sandwich. The sandwich included trimming eggs and their signature Nam, and it was truly heavenly. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices have remained pretty much the same as before the pandemic. The lunch and dinner hours are always busy, so I recommend getting there early to secure your table. Even without my recommendation, this restaurant is already well known with a reputation for good Vietnamese food. I would still highly recommend Summer Roll in Temple City for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Vietnamese cuisine. The reopening of their main dining room has only made the dining experience better, and I can't wait to go back and try more dishes on their menu.
This is such a delightful spot that has fast service and casual indoor and patio seating. I loved the banh beo, and would highly recommend that along with any of their vermicelli noodles. Also ordered the banh xeo-crispy stuffed rice pancakes (not pictured) and it was a total hit with my party.
It's been a while since I've been to their original location. Decided to give this location a shot, and was NOT disappointed! Staff was really great! They accommodated me and my friends who couldn't leave their dogs behind, and cleared some space for outdoor seating. Very friendly and patient with us. Best of all the food was superb! The Bánh Xèo was crispy and loaded with good stuff! Their Bún Bò Huế was full of flavor, and they didn't skimp on the meat (has "Black pudding" in it though, so if that makes you uncomfortable, you can try another dish). The different Nước mắm sauces were all flavored and spiced differently for each dish. Added great flavor to the food! Pro-tip: There's outdoor "porch" seating, but the chairs and tables beyond that aren't a part of the restaurant, they belong to the center. If you wanna' eat out there, do takeout.

What a treat!!! Authentic Viet food and their rice rolls are to die for! The serving sizes are all huge and perfect for group sharing. The rolls were packed with various textures and the right amount of flavour. The rice noodles had perfectly cooked beef highlighted by vinegar and a pair of crispy egg rolls. Would definitely recommend!!!

Summer Rolls is a Vietnamese food joint in Temple city. They are located in a large plaza between Las Tunas and Rosemead blvd. They offer a wide variety of authentic Vietnamese cuisine and drinks (hot/cold). Interior atmosphere was relaxing and layout was spacious. I perused their menu; I got a Charbroiled Chicken Vermicelli and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Both were great. Staff were nice. Service was spot on. Prices were fair. Overall, I had a good dine-in experience and enjoyed my meal.

Great beer selection on draft, I was pleased and surprised. Given the location I was shocked to see how open their layout was. It is a little cramped when the place is packed but if it's half full /half empty it's actually pretty awesome. TV in place for you to watch a game. Roll up door / window make the space feel bigger. Outside seating is nice, especially with a couple of heaters. Parking isn't the best, nor is it the worst.
Good food, good flavor, great portions. The Summer Rolls were a lot bigger than expected and makes the $15 price reasonable, definitely more than just an appetizer - it's an actual dish. Depending on your appetite, an order of summer rolls and one other dish can feed two. That's what I'll be ordered in my next visit. Duchesse de Bourgogne is my favorite beer but not available at most places. I was very happy to see they offer it here, although I didn't see it on the menu. Definitely coming back!

I love Summer Roll's Nem Nuong Cuon. Their shrimp based dip is reminiscent of Brodard's. Also love their Banh Beos.
Place was full of customers. Perfect for a younger crowd. Has outdoor dining. decent decor: A litte noisy to be expected. Have some unique dishes that other Vietnamese restaurants do not offer. Food is acceptable. Not particularly tasty.

A Bamboo Skewer Was Hidden Inside a Meatball Summer Roll — Unbelievable and Dangerous Last night, we ordered several summer rolls from this restaurant as we’ve done many times over the years. But this time, something terrifying happened. My 4-year-old son was eating the beef meatball summer roll when he suddenly said, “Mom, there’s something hard I can’t bite.” I thought maybe it was a piece of cartilage or overcooked meat—until I looked closer and was absolutely horrified. There was a sharp bamboo skewer completely wrapped inside the meatball — hidden deep inside, completely invisible from the outside. The attached photos speak for themselves. This isn’t a small oversight — this is a serious food safety violation. We were shocked, angry, and terrified. What if my son had taken a bigger bite? What if it had punctured his mouth or throat? That moment was gut-wrenching. We truly could not believe our eyes. Our entire family is still very upset and shaken. We’ve trusted this restaurant for years, but this experience has deeply damaged that trust. This kind of mistake should NEVER happen. We expect a full investigation and accountability for such gross negligence. (Photos attached to show the bamboo skewer inside the roll)
