1st time here. Tacos and salsas are great!
Been coming to this place since I was a little girl. Love the family that owns the taqueria. The food is fresh every single day. I love their Carnitas, one of the best in San Mateo, CA. Good prices and always free chips and salsa. I highly recommend this taqueria.
One of the best burritos I have ever had! They have a big selection of different types of salsas to enjoy with delicious chips. The horchata is also really delicious!! highly recommend this place!
Food was very tasty and flavorful, very authentic and worth the money.
I have been going to this place for 25 years. They recently changed location, and honestly I was nervous if anything would change. The only change was: they somehow got BETTER. Best burritos in the entire Bay Area. And their salsa bar is fire. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere in San Mateo, stop by here.
I have been going here for over 20 years. They have the most amazing BBQ Pork!! There baby super burritos are huge and can feed an adult. Order a regular super burrito if you are very hungry. Everything I have had there is great!!!!! And now, since I have written this review, I think I will go there for lunch today!
This was my first Mexican restaurant experience in San Mateo and it did not disappoint. I had the chorizo enchiladas, guacamole and chips, and my colleagues had the carne asada super burrito. We were licking our fingers and were sad when all the food was gone. We will be going back to this place for lunch very soon!
I had 2 chicken enchilada with refried beans and a salad. It was just the way I like it. Then you help yourself to the salsa bar for added condiments and chips. Also they serve a little sour cream if you ate something a little more spicy to cool your mouth. At least for me that works.
Best, absolute best, Mexican food in the San Mateo area. Our family has been going here since I was born. I plan on eating here for at least another 30 years. Amazing food, nice owners.
Food was delicious - large portions in a friendly open environment
My family has been going to Las Palomas for 35+ years and it never disappoints!! So great that their new location is bigger and more centrally located so new folks can find them and fall in love with them!
I had their breakfast burrito with chorizo — came with rice, refried beans, chorizo, eggs, peppers & onions and cheese. So damn good! Actually hard to find good Mexican food this far north, but this places is good! Their salsas were fire!!
We have been big fans of Las Palomas for years. Their new location in downtown San Mateo is gorgeous and so convenient to get to. Went today and ordered their grilled chicken super burrito. Just when I thought it couldn't get even better, today's was AMAZING. There is a certain taste to Las Palomas' meat, rice and beans that is unlike any other taqueria. Servings are generous. AND, they have a fabulous self-serve salsa bar - yes, just like pre-pandemic days with an amazing assortment of salsas, pico de gallo and pickled carrots/jalapenos and complementary tortilla chips sitting under a fab heat lamp. Las Palomas is a family owned business - the husband and wife are delightful and take such pride in their food and service. We highly recommend!
I don't review taquerias often, but this one really impressed me. I got the carnitas super burrito 🌯 and it was delicious. And a good price compared to other nearby places
Great customer service great atmosphere very clean place. The tacos are so Good!!!!
Las Palomas has everything you want in a taqueria. *And* the nicest people working there. Definitely order the chilli verde. It's outstanding.
Amazing family owned taqueria with great traditional flavors! I’ve been coming here since I was as young and it’s still my favorite spot! Great customer service and food!
really good place, love the burrito, tacos and the atmosphere. Would def recommend the pollo, veggie and pork tacos or burritos, really fresh and good
The food was very tasty
Las Palomas has been my favorite taqueria in San Mateo for over 30 years. I love the nachos with chorizo, and the super burrito with their pollo asada is insanely good!
One of the greatest Mexican restaurants in San Mateo. The super shrimp burrito is amazing. Don't pass up on this one!
Been eating here for 30 yrs. Always consistently great food and warm, down home service. Highly recommended!!
Really good restaurant especially at their old location the new location is good the Micheladas still really good I do recommend this place for lunch and dinner
This place is bomb. Fantastic carnitas and pastor…with tons of great sauces. If you like 🔥burritos go to Las Palomas!
One of the best wet burritos I have ever had. The asada had perfect flavor, and the sauce was absolutely delicious. The salsa bar was wonderful and the chips were really good (and unlimited, if you just ask for more!) They were extremely nice and the place is beautiful, with clean bathrooms.
If you thought your 30+ year old favorite spot from 3rd street was gone, have no fear, they’ve just moved! The same AMAZING food, full of fresh flavor and quality ingredients in a new location! The family is still here cooking, catering and serving! I could NOT pass up a super carne asada burrito and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I weighed it at home 2lbs + of flavor. 🤤 Don’t forget the real Mexican Coke and Salsa Bar!
Huge portions/size of food items. Super veggie burrito and Veggie avocado tostadas were nice. Great service, very hospitable server. Their salsa bar is just killer with 7 different types of salsa/sauce and pickled vegetables. Just wonderful.
Our first time here. We wandered in at random and were so glad we did. The restaurant is a large and barebones - simple tables and chairs. But the food is excellent. Lots of Mexican favorites, well cooked and delicious. The staff were friendly and patient. Overall a great meal.
This place is so good! Amazing spot with super authentic Mexican food. We got the Michoacán style enchiladas (#30) and the aguachile (#44) and started it off with a carne asada street taco and michelada. It was the best Mexican food I’ve had in The Bay for sure. Highly recommend! The owners Beto and Maria are great and the only thing better than their food was their amazing service.
Had a wonderful Chicken Quesadilla cut into 4 Triangles for lunch today! It was Muy Rico!!👍👍 Free Tortilla Chips with an excellent variety of salsas too! Not the best place for weight loss or if you are trying to lose weight. However, they use fresh ingredients and it shows in the flavor and texture of the food they serve. And i felt great after my meal too. Look forward to coming back & Highly recommend Las Palomas!🤙
Food tastes fresh, stacked salsa bar, and family-owned business experience. We tried tacos, burritos and more at separate occasions, delicious! Dine-in is great as the place is always clean and service is amazing. The owners are very friendly and helpful, even gave us aguas frescas on the house for a meal. Our favorite local hangout taqueria.
Great good and large portions. The chicken was amazing!
Enjoyed the nachos and the fajita plate. Service was alright Never been to the old location so dunno how it compares. It's a little weird that all the old reviews moved to here, I would have rated it more like 4 stars but wanted to help offset that
First time trying machaca here (i forget the dish name, but it was machaca and eggs). I was hesitant at first, but it won me over with the robust spice and depth of flavor. Would eat again :)

Amazing food and very hospitable people running the place. Would 100% recommend the burritos - they are very filling! And the horchatas are really tasty.
Delicious and very flavorful food. Everybody there was so nice and patient. I had the best meaty fries of my whole life, and their menu is huge and my family loved the food as well. I will be coming back and I highly recommend coming to this restaurant to everybody in the area.
Las Palomas is a San Mateo establishment! They’ve been around for at least 25 years! I’m so happy they moved from their old location on East 3rd Ave when the building got sold. They have the best burritos and an awesome salsa bar. This location is big and clean. And this part of downtown tends to have parking, which is nice

I went to this place to try out their food because a friend from work suggested to check it out. I was not disappointed. The food taste so good. Lots of items in their menu to choose from. The atmosphere is a little bland. All in all, good Mexican restaurant.
Pretty empty when I came in for lunch good food nice people okay price it is expeect3d though
Food was pretty good. They made my Lengua super burrito fresh. Cooking and cutting it in front of me. It's a little pricey at 10 something but it's nice to see them make it fresh. Service was decent and was pretty clean and sanitary. Was not busy for lunch when I went.

Stopped in for a snack. Ordered taco de pastor and horchata. Drink was good , taco didn’t taste like pastor and was a little dry. Salsa bar was nice. It’s on the main drag and has Outside tables.

I had a BEEF STEW (Caldo De Res) for lunch. I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for my order and I was ok with that. The stew was delicious but the CHAYOTE that was used had a bitter taste. I have had fresh CHAYOTE in the past and it was never bitter or sour. If the ingredients are inspected and fresh then the GOOD WORD will be passed on.

Not enough meat. First time here and ordered a $17 wet burrito to go and there was barely any chicken in it. The taste was okay albeit on the salty side. It was basically a salty rice and bean burrito. Honestly there’s more meat in a small taco, than this large burrito. The salsa is also salty. I prefer Amigos Grill Amigos instead in the Marina Shopping Center - stewed chicken is great.

Nobody at their counter took about 5 minutes for someone to come out. I placed an order online, and 40 minutes later, still not ready.....
My family and I ordered out from Las Palomas last monday. I have been on the toilet since then. I don't know what happened to the Super Burritos. They are noticeably smaller than they use to be also. The ingredients even taste different. The old location was amazing. I must say its very disappointing. I have been going here for over 20 years, but since the new location its been down hill. Damn shame too. The super burritos were amazing back then. I think I am done here. RIP Las Palomas (Old Location)
I am beyond disappointed in this restaurant. I used to go to the one that was the original place by Jack n the box..this place is nothing like it!! I don't know if it's different workers or that the owner is different but this place is garbage compared to the original place. I ordered a burrito and nachos .both were very MEH!! First both items they messed up!! Simple instructions that were not met. What I asked for and what I asked not put on were not and then I asked to be removed were not! I decided to give this place to try again when I saw it reopened Up the street however I'm gonna have to stay with my true one favorite and always on point Pancho Villa!! Their food by far is better than this place it doesn't compare it's like Night and day. I'm very disappointed this is not the place I remembered back when it was down 2 or 3 streets down. This place is garbage!! First u dont understand simple instructions of items I ordered but the quality isn't there. I will never buy anything from here again! I don't even know why I try to go somewhere else when my favorite Pancho Villa is always amazing and never disappointes. I just decided to try Las Palomas one more time since I hadn't in so long and it's a definitely a negative.. .. yuck...Pancho Villa you have no competition! And to make it worse this place was about $15 more than pancho villa that's ridiculous because Pancho Villa food quality is so suburb and this place has the nerve to charge an expensive amount for this garbage food.
I ate at Las Palomas at the original location 30 years ago. I had very high expectations but I was very disappointed. The ingredients were not fresh, especially the salsa on the table.
Poor quality, over spiced to hide lack of flavor, mushy….. could not get basics right…… orange juice has added ice all to make something cheap even cheaper.,,. I do not recommend this place

The reason that im putting this very low review is because restaurant has to and needs to have empathy with its customers l place an order on Uber eats at 8:14pm today sunday july 13 and it took them 50minutes to let me know that they dont have a birria that l order an also the person who was on charge at that time lie to me saying that she can cancel the order and she want me to cancel the order and assume the cancellation fee this is a nasty service when l call uber customer support they cancel the order reimburse me for the total amount that l pay so please people be careful when you order thru the app this restaurant should be a shame for lien on the customer. Que berguenza su servicio es pobre respete mas a sus clientes que con gusto quieren probar su comida abiendo tantos restaurantes y lo escojan a usted por primera vez y esto se lleven como esperiencia para no volver a ordenar.👎
